Levy Continues to Make Steady Progress

Share

Doctors treating President Mwanawasa at Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France say they are satisfied with the steady progress Dr. Mwanawasa is making in his recovery.

According to the latest update posted on the State House web site by Vice President Rupiah Banda, the condition of Dr. Mwanawasa continues to improve.

Mr. Banda said First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa and some family members are at the President’s bed side.

He said the First family is encouraged by the messages of goodwill and prayers for the President’s full recovery.

Mr. Banda said the nation will continue to be provided with updates on the President’s condition.

He has since requested the nation to continue praying for Dr. Mwanawasa’s speedy recovery.

Dr. Mwanawasa is admitted at the Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France, where he is receiving medical treatment.

  1. Thats lovely news to hear. LEVY you need to come and sort out these dim wits here that you left. Can you imagine that Mpombo thinks you could have left him in charge. My foot! Muleipima ba Mpombo!

  2. For how long should he be in a “stable condition” before the constitution takes effect? Learned friends please update us.

  3. I think he should retire when he finally comes round because no job is worth one’s health.

  4. i wish the president quick recovery to shame those with apetite for power.i know of sponsored pipo who are under pressure all there wishes every moment is to hear bad news.Mulimbe Levy ni chibumba he will address the nation again.Viva levy abash old Sata.

  5. #7 His wife would not let him retire…and yes the family tree too. The man has no choice but to serve the nation to death

  6. Levy wish you a quick recovery.I know you cannot talk right now, when you are able to ,lift your condition blackout.I feel you

  7. my boss the pressure has risen when he was phoned that Levy is improving we need your prayers to save him

  8. ha ha crazy asses in here, Cheers to Mwanawasa we need a big welcome Part as he expected back home on his two feet as cecil homes said Viva LPM

  9. Luther Vandeross had more budo than the entire nation, but stroke yalimusenda? sharon yalimusenda? LPM already utilized his miracle when he had the first stroke. Do second miracles occur to the same people? i do not know, as I have lost brothers and sisters.

  10. THERE YOU GO AGAIN ANNONYMOUS YOU ARE THE FIRST ONE TO COMMENT. WABASHANI MWAICE IWE. UISOPE BASOPO. FIND A JOB YOU CHAP JOHN SOLYE.

  11. The job of a president is already very stressful for a healthy person. So, if he already had a stroke once he should have had more support and people to delegate the work to and assist him. I suppose that all the traveling he had to do lately did not help to better his already existing condition. Let’s hope that he gets better and that this will serve as a lesson. Not only to him but also to all other people who cannot let go of the power that their job holds out for them.

  12. The French are doing a good job saving our former President. Unfortunately they don’t our life expectancy hence keeping him alive. Does anyone know which side of the brain is affected? Levy’s problem could have been handled better at UTH or some nganga in Kanyama.

  13. RB we know that LPM is STABLE dont play with wod by switching to STEADY because it means the same. In any case what are you calling progress? What improvements has he made so far? I agree with my sister Miss Pretty at #2 such update are worse than zero update. Lets move forward and stop pretending about LPM’s health. Any higher hopes is pure wishful thinking.

  14. i still cant understand why other people cant just be happy that another human being(i.e. the president) is making steady progress. Just be happy. levy muntu nga ifwe!

  15. Its good that the president is getting better. But I think its time these people started telling the degree of improvement.

    May the recovery continue.

  16. Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t over react. I have a very honest question. Could it be possible that God was not happy with Levy and the way he was treating Chiluba that He decided to shut Levy up permanently? How do we know may be FTJ is really innocent and Levy was mistaken that God with His love for FTJ decided to punish Levy? You never know may be God answered FTJ’s prayers.

  17. Which god?,African or European?,in african terms god means the white man.In european terms god means GOLD OIL & DRUGS,so take you pick #28.

  18. Here we go again.Same steady or stable situation.Looks like we will be waiting until Christmas before this leadership takes action. They think they are more sympathetic than the Israeli who acted promptly. It is good that Levy is getting better but to say let him get better so that he comes back to sort out others is a bit discouraging.

  19. #29, I will pick the all three because they mean the same. GOD. So, your interpretation of God at this moment might be the one answering all the prayers that we hear about and at the same time answering other prayers too. So, to say the truth, I don’t know. Levy might eventually walk, or not. Depends on God’s response and forgiveness.

  20. Anonymous I like the way you write but at times your msgs!!!!!!! how can a nganga in Kanyama do a better job on LPM than doctors???
You are thinking beyond, I dont think God is punishing Levy. There is time for everything.. if its time for him to die so be it. We will all die someday, however dont think beyond its not good for you.

  21. Dear Veep,
Exactly what do vague words like stable, steady, progress mean in medical terms? nothing.
What Zambia needs is a bolder you coming out one bright day and say countrymen (and women) Prez is talking or not talking, blinking eyes or not, eating or not, reading newspaper or not, comatose or not. spare our learned mind with political titbits as ‘stable’ or steady. Where in this world did you read or hear of unsteady progress?

  22. Dear Veep,
Exactly what do vague words like stable, steady, progress mean in medical terms? nothing.
What Zambia needs is a bolder you coming out one bright day and say countrymen (and women) Prez is talking or not talking, blinking eyes or not, eating or not, reading newspaper or not, comatose or not. spare our learned mindsw with political titbits as ‘stable’ or steady. Where in this world did you read or hear of unsteady progress?

  23. I am glad that the French doctors attending to H.E. of Zambia “are satisfied with the steady progress Dr. Mwanawasa is making in his recovery”.

My prayer is that all those who are sick or ill in various places of this world may be healed by God’s providence, His will be done though.

May God bless Zambia and Zimbabwe.

  24. Zikomo a Njobvu. Actually I meant to say that we should at least subject our leaders to the same treatment we go through at UTH and the ngangas. Ambuye, lack of chizungu may be got in my way. I know the world is not fair, but what I don’t understand is how a small group of elites dictate how we should live and die. When it is their time, they seek the best medical facilities and best doctors to prolong their lives using funds that others suffered for. How about spending a portion to refurbish UTH? That is what I was driving at. Rushing him to France where they don’t know how Zambian strokes are could not be the answer. Medical people, are strokes in Africans the same as European?

  25. Anonymous!!!strokes seem to be the same world over:blood or fat clots, haemorrhadge in Brain and ruptured arteries etc could be due to a very high blood pressure, predisposed by different factors maybe there you are right as factors differ from one part of the world to the othere.g others its good living, whilst the opposite is true, pressure of work whilst lack of it can cause a stroke-worry.Hereditary causes of high blood pressure leading to strokes.Other name for a stroke is Cardio Vascular Accident or CVA.You will all be Lawyers and Doctors by the end of this saga-constitution,stroke language is the in thing pa zed now.Noticed the Kwacha is nose diving as we continue praying.

  26. Lets get facts right,we all wish our dear Levy a speedy recovery right!hence we are praying to our kaumba to redeem the situaton. We at the same time have this conflict of interest of a Country of 13 million people.A president is a factor and no matter how many steady, speedy recovery notices are issued i still believe we are still missing the point and that point is Levy is not coming back for Presidence so what are we saying?back to square zero. The earlier the constitutional process gets in the better for damage limitaton. The longer it takes the more messy it gets and we do not need another Zim or Kenya scenario as Zambians are a capable people.Lets stop thinking with our Hearts please.

  27. Twalumba nobapati twaubona mulumbe wasikila kuluwaile nkabela cikwama camana twakakilwa kumutumina mulumbe onse. Mbwena mbuli mbotwamba kale, twacikonzya ku roteta kubelesya ma arrows alumwesyi akululyo pele ma arrows akumbele akupiluka munsi taciti mulimo wayo. Ncita na tucite buti ono.

  28. Amano Mambulwa, your statement is factual and pointed. I have been seating here listening to the Obama speech on my computer and all what he said seem to relate to our situation. Though I have sometimes said things that have hurt others, I see the need for us to unite even better than we have done before. Our debate and contributions here are voices for masses that don’t have the same voices or means as we do. One tribe or person cannot lead Zambia. Anyone can, but not on tribal basis. Our choice of leadership should not be based on where one comes from, but on leadership and how that person will help build Zambia as a whole. Zambia is not Bembaland or Tongaland. If you hate one, hate all.

  29. I have given up on this careful selection of words words without adding much of the details. May I just agree with annonymous @ #37 that we need to invest heavily in our health system so that we have up-to-date facilities. At the moment I dont know a centre in Zambia that is well equipped to successfully manage a major stroke. Anyone with information please I would be glad to be corrected. We also need to invest in research and perharps that would lead us to amanage strokes or other diseases differently. However, as explained by #38 medical conditions are the same in all populations but different countries/centres have developed different approaches of treatmenting various diseases/conditions

  30. #44 Kalos2020, You speak well but I doubt if those who deeply rooted into tribalism like Chinsali MP and russia_moscowom would ever see sense in what you are saying. I wish Bembas could really take time and learn from your words.

  31. A person who has suffered a minor or major stroke needs to enrol with a stroke clinic for continuous monitoring. some centres make a bi-annually review to see if anything suspicious is developing. This is important especially in people who have hard aneurysms(swollen pockets on arterial walls). I dont know if levy had a bleed or a block in 2006. Either way especially that he is even a known hypertensive patient warranted close monitoring. Should we probably blame LPM or his physicians? Again, this is the importance of having good fcilities locally. Look at what we are going through compared to having a local centre with doctors/health teams that are well supported at all levels!!

  32. HEALTH TIPS FOR OTHER POLITICIANS

Please follow them to save Zambia money with overseas treatments.

    -Be actively physically.

-Run, fast walk, anything to reduce those guts that you sit on all day in government cars and government offices and government houses.

    – Beer + imichopo + red meat x lack of excersise = overweight = Coronary disease, high cholestrol, high blood pressure.

    – Eating meat everyday doesnt mean mulalya bwino. It means shortening your lifespan.

  33. Why is it that everytime the issue of tribalism comes up here, it is always in refernce to Tonga’s and Bemba’s, this is just my observation. Anyhow about Levy, this story has lost the media hype and if I were LT I would stop posting any of these updates and wait for a significant change in the situation, meanwhile there are other headlines here in our country which are more debatable and can generate better interest that this story. I am out!

  34. Tribe! How different is one from the other? Are we going to choose a leader on tribal lines? I thought we have learnt our lessons from Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya.We need a leader who sees beyond these petty tribal sentiments. One ready to take the entire nation to higher level of development. I dont think choosing finished over recycled politician like SATA because they are Bemba or the educated HH because he is TONGA is reasonable debate for a country that has been independent for 44years is health for the country.Barack Obama said, “we have no white nor black but a United States of America.”I think that is also applicable to Zambia and I think we should evaluate these leaders on their own merits

  35. Mwiinga well spotted out. Zambia is estimated to have more than 70 tribes but only 2 are singled out-TONGAS & BEMBAS. We have more and better issues to debate than the worthless tribalism. Can anyone tell me that they chose to be the tribe they are? If not then let us respect one another. About LPM I am sure sooner or latter RB will exhaust the vocabulary and will be compelled to tell the Zambians the truth or at least the true status of LPM and the true opinions of the doctors treating him. Generally, the first 72 hours are critical and the prognosis is proportionately better. People are praying for LPM’S speedy recovery but what I dont know is if they want him to come back to office or

  36. #54, spot on, I actually think people have imagination that is beyond any one’s comprehension, I like HH not because I am Tonga and he is, but because I think he has got what it takes to turn round this country not giving execuses. Sata appears to me to be quite dictatorial full of empty promises, and that makes me very uncomfortable. I like the reasoning Miyanda (General) provides, I think he is very analytical and thinks but he might not be cut out for politics, he is too serious for a politician and many people do not connect with him because of this analysis which is beyond the common man’s understanding.

  37. ctd from 55… they just want him to survive the stroke for the two are very different. Chances are high that he may not die and might continue his life like Ariel Sharon unless there is something GRZ is hiding from us. Returning to office is more of wishful thinking because even when LPM is discharged, whenever that will be, he will need rehabilitation and learning most of the thinngs like talking prperly, walking or even holding a pen all over again. In the meantime the nation will need a leader who is able to recognise his environment. Zambia needs to mve on. Otherwise I wish him well.

  38. #57, I thought you said you were going to concentrate on your family and work for a while or was it for one day. Remember next time not to announce your personal crap!!
    Good your back great postings!

Pipo check Miyandas Editorial in the post. Next President

  39. Iwe Mbuzi (ya mano kunyansi), can you help Miyanda come out of the barrack like look and campaign strategically, I am not concerned about the editorial in the post of yesterday, I am just concerned with what he said about the Medical Board, and the fact that Sata and his group have this perceived crisis which is not true! So what is the strategy for Miyanda for 2011 starting with his look (stone faced, ruthless individual)

  40. “One Zambia, one Nation”. Brothers and sisters, I would like to advise ourselves (Zambian) that we MUST concentrate on building our country to levels that Japan has reached. Somone said that, “aim at reaching the stars because you might just land on the Moon when you fail to get there – to the Sun or any other star.
So, please let us check our National Registeration Cards and Zambian Passports for those of us who have them. On both the mentioned documents, we will find that there is NO TRIBE indicated there. The most important things there are the NUMBERS and Nationality which is “Zambian” for all of us Zambuans.
Stop the bickering and just use tribe and language for COMMUNICATION ONLY.

  41. Sorry people … ‘Zambuans’ must be ‘Zambians’.

Touch typing and tiredness yandijata basa. Anyhow, National duties continue.

  42. Twalumba omunene, ndayowa abona aku jalula antu awa ndati inga koyakujana bakutukila (#61 only) and for the rest take heed, NRC/Passport thats it! We are all identified by that number and that is the most important thing.

  43. I like the general’s self discipline. I feel he is an honest man and can thus seve the nation honestly. I dont know how flexible LPM is compared to Miyanda. On that ground he can be a good leader howeverhe will need a good tea to work with and perharps he would need to open his ears more. I am sure most of you know that when you are in the western world you are identified only as BLACK does not matter whether you are Nigerian, Kenyan or indeed Zambian they dont care whether you are Ngoni or Kikuyu or Bemba or Tonga or Lozi, or Ndebele. So why cant we just accept that we are Zambians despite the different backgrounds (called tribes)? Africans who have grown up in America or Italy or UK behave

  44. ctd from 64…behave just like the natives in those lands. So it is the environment rather than the individual tribes we belong to that shape our behaviour. I personally dont believe Tongas are like this, Bembas like that, Lozis like this etc because it simply doesnt exist. Infact people struggle to behave as such so that they are identified and probably accepted by their fellow tribes men and not because they have it in their blood. SATA is my tribes man but he is simply not presidential material as far as I am concerned and lets move on and scrutinize another candidate on MERIT ONLY. This discussion boils my blood!

  45. #63, ndaabona makani. Zimwi zintu kulangilila buyo. Pesi katuzumanana kuya kumbele.

Kamupona kabotu basa oko ku cooko cesu ca-Zambia.

  46. Mr. Mwiinga, hi. I have mentioned Tongas and Bembas not that these two are at loggerheads, but just as an example. One other reason is that these two have very strong personalities. You see, there’s nothing wrong being Tonga or Bemba, but the position we hold must be that of a Zambia were Mwiinga meets a Lunda(from Luapula) like me, he must have no fear or reservations to interact freely. I should learn some things from you and you from me. Call me a thief, but jokingly. Let us be like children. They don’t see color, language, or religion. I take my kids to the park, and what I see really amazes me. When we as parents have segregated ourselves according to color or language, kids don’t.

  47. Great stuff #67. Let us now move on. We can certainly choose to shun responding to those who are propagating insults if we who are sane act carefully.
We have a Zambia to develop. In fact we are in a hurry to bring the development to all Zambians.
#67, you brought up an interesting issue on children. Probably that is why the Holy Bible places them in an important position regarding those who will molded for heaven and ultimately enter the kingdom of our great Jehovah God – the Creator.
May you all Zambians have peace of mind and try always not to do evil.

  48. #70. All I can say with regard to your question is that Zambia is not bankrupt of leadership. It is just a matter of time we shall as a people pick a leader. My feeling is (sorry this is just a feeling) 99 percent of those that we see as leaders are not leaders perse, but hustlers whose agendas and backgrounds could be worse than most of us that don’t come out to go into this business of politics. There could be a better leader even here on this blog. Look at what is happening in the US. Obama is not only opening eyes of those in the US, but everyone in the world. The days for tattooed rough riders as role models are numbered. Soon people will start thinking of who a role model can be.

  49. nothing we can do abt it to get the tru infor,we defn not takin these stories, wat does it matter whose on his bedside anyway, sooner or later they will have to tell us the truth.whatever the case LPM is not gonna be fit to rule again.this tym his gonna be a real veg.

  50. It is high time we had electrical wheel chair manufacuring plant in Zed. Not forgeting having heart bank at hand. Day dreaming wont help us.GOD bless the planners

  51. #Mwinnga . U 2 Ya mano Kunyasi. Miyanda is the most clean of all vying for the top post. HH, is a theif he can not explain his riches even thou we all know ( privatisation}. Sata was selling the country in front of all of us when he was kicked out of Malawi. We let Miyanda peresent his Manifesto then judge him.

Talking about Miyandas face is very childish. Grow up if you have nothin to say keep quite. Pushi wa mabisi iwe!!

  52. K6-D, in #77, electric chair for who, for LPM? Ubepelefye. I rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus. LPM is coming back strong. You will be surprise how the Lord works.

  53. zambians need to be united, all this fussing and fighting will take us no places.United we stand divided we fall………..

  54. Quite interesting stuff from all of you but Mr Mwiinga, Mr Einstein, Mr hhehhehhe @#60 and Mr Kalos2020 made my day. Their contributions made a lot of sense – in my opinion. Keep it that way Sirs. I wish LT was giving prizes for the best blogger.

  55. We are tired of useless updates without hope and direction. Those vying for Presdo should start comaigning seroiusly and without backing down. Those appointees like RB should continue as puppets. LPM is not immotal and when God says come no one should say no.God called Mazoka ,Nkumbula,P Tembo etc after being dribled by certain powers. The current updates are quite misleading and some people are busy stealing money. Let people remove the moral mask and embrace the legal mask. Lest follow the constitution and confort the LPM family with morrow blessing

  56. Zambia is a democratic country where the Constitution is supreme.People should not fear but follow the law. The law does not expect people to pray for hundred years when faced with a problem. Succession talks and strategies shoud start now while expecting the Cragy to continue praying for LPM. No one is above the Law.

  57. For you to offer an effective prayer, you need to know the true condition of the patient so that you present it before God. As it is we have more doubts because we have not been given the true picture. Ukupepa ala tulepepa nomba ama updates awe they leave much to be desired. Tell us the truth so that we paray ernestly centering the true condition. Otherwise mupole ba Levy

  58. I have one question for you #45 Anonymous. What do for your living? Or where do you work? I think if at all you work, you must be working mu government where employees hours performing non-productive tasks on the computers. Us miners do no have such time. We are always busy working. Please work Anonymous. Our country will never move forward as long as we have people that spend time always chatting or doing personal activities instead of busy working productively in their respective institutions.

  59. tulefwaya ba HH bakkaaaaaaaamba.Ba HH ba Maaaaano Bakaaaaaaqamba.Sata Muukote taakwaata amano. Sata tasaaambilila.VIVa ba HH.

  60. Imwe, Musazivuta muntu. And People do Anonymous is a collection of a lot of bloggers. So just conerntrate on what your selves. Leave them alone.

  61. chanda chanda

if you are not a bemba shut up, becasue what you have written is not bemba. my ass will grow 10times bigger if HH becomes president.
    \
    leadership is not about eductaion.

Levy is tribalist and neoptist and done! Zambians forget easily.
bushe ena levy temuntu? isnt he a human being? we will all die, he cna also die or become incapacited because he is human like all of us.
we all have lost relatives, friends, parents who have passed away, and so even him he cna die any time, becasue his life is not perpetual.

  62. When one is tired, they are no two (2) ways about it. let the big man rest in percy, France as he makes ‘STEADY AND STABLE ‘ progress. HH janza kumbele …….come 2013

  63. those who are praying remermber

GOD ANSWERS THE PRAYERS OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON
if u have sins and lies dont expect God to hear you.
Levy was human and a sinner, if he didnt repent, probably if he dies (that is if he hasnt already died – since we dont know the truth)
    He is probably in hell.
    It is just time.
That is life, everything has got time, those who haave benefited, will they will now have to labour and toil like all of us instead of free tax payer money.
if it will HH in power, then his close aids will benefit if it will be sata it will be hima nd close people.
That is just how life is

  64. Dont be fooled that HH will change pipo or economy or sata will, just work hard by yourself.

change your life, your istuation by yourself.

Dont believe in a human being.

he is just human like u he is not Jesus

Those who think HH will be their saviour forget, probably you will suffer most during his reign if he won.
and if he does win, this country will be thrown to the dogs – I will leave and come back after 10 year.

  65. ba anonymous mwaliba funny, im sure yo family enjoys u a lot, kwaliba difference muma stroke, mumufishi, namumusungu, umuntu muntu daddy, u have made my day… good luck ba levy, u have such a strong will to live. eeh mwandi yo kids need u more than us, strive on baishi chipo mucili banike mwandi, mulyelete bo kola.

  66. the way sikota was tossed at the UPND convention leaves much to be desired. just taht incident, I will never support HH.

There is a way educated people do things but not that way

being a lozy by tribe, I will never vote for HH even if they are my tribal cousins. I found that act immoral.

I look forward to a better zambia, not in totality but in many things

  67. with or without levy, zambia wills till be better, if we are guided by principle.
in his firt term, LPM did not know what tod o, he was just woken up from sleep, only when he knew the nitty grittys thats when now in his second term, he has tried,
    HOWEVER

i disagree that there is any economic improvemnet.
people are worse off. there is poverty in compounds in rural areas
44 years independent – only one major hospital- what a shame Chiluba and levy

  68. Ba Sata niba nkote you pipo, the man is tired and too old to run this country. Even his friend Guy Scott , you can prove it thru todays post newspaper. The chaps are failing to reason along a straight line kwati baichi…….. HH,HH,HH,HH ,GO,GO,GO,GO,

  69. BORING.LEVY IS STILL IN A COMA.
THOSE INTERESTED IN THE PRESIDENCY SHUD START CAMPAIGNING.THESE MINISTERS ARE JUST INTERESTED IN KEEPING THERE JOBS.

  70. atleast chiluba broght buses, roads improved, phi was done, clinics in compounds which has helped atleast, foods on shelves, lumwana deals and mine deals, all that LPM brags about now

WHAT HAS LEVY DONE, WHAT DID HE DO IN HIS TWO TERMS? NOTHING THAT HE HAS LEFT FOR US TO REMERMBER HIM. EVEN THE CHEMBE BRIDGE WAS INITIATED IN CHILUBA ERA.

AWE BALIFILIWA. THE ECONOMIC PROGRESS IS NOT THERE – PEOPLE ARE WALLOPING IN POVERTY
ATLEAST CHILUBA BROUGHT THE MIDDLE CLASS

WITH OR WITHOUT HH OR LPM OR MIYANDA OR MUTATI OR MAGANDE OR SAT, GUYS JUST WORK HARD AND CHANGE YOUR SITUATION, THESE PRESIDENTS DONT DO ANYTHING TO BETTER YOUR LIFE.

  71. LEVY IS ALSO STEALING BY OVER USING TAX PAYERS MONEY IN PERCY ON THAT LIFE SUPPORT AND ALSO WE ARE PAYING FOR TAHT ENTOURAGE.

AM SURE TEH KIDS WILL EVENS TART SCHOOLING IN FRANCE SINCE IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE DADDY RECOVERS. HE HAS TO COME OUT OF COMMA AND LEARN HOW TO WALK AND SPEECH AND MEMORY AND A LOT.

I HOPE MULONGOTI AND TAHT UNIP FELLA RB DONT INTEND TO RULE UPTO 2011.

    MAY GOD HELP ZAMBIA

  72. Ba TATA mwavoka sana.. i hope you are doing something for your future. Usually pipo like you just talk and do the opposite for themselves. Am doing great for myself

  73. I hope lEVY will come and sort out Mugabe for those comments he made about him. and i hope levy will be told that mugabe and tsvagarai are talking now, so no sinking titatnic

  74. Levy should just resign what is wrong with Africans, the bugger is dying but he wants to rule. He should stop condemning mugabe

  75. #102 i very much agree with u on one point, sata is too old and let us not forget that he has already had his first stroke…..
But i also don’t think that zambia should entrust its resources with HH, the man is a clear greedy tribalist. what we need is someone who will be a father for all zambians because zambia is not just for Bembas and Tongas.Peace to you all.

  76. People, be careful with white people. They are just playing with you and not telling you the truth about Levy. Soon you will be fighting. A clever government could have publihsed the full details, not that they are power ungry but would want to avoid confusion.

  77. Check the way they handle such issues with their own people??. Why should the health of the president be kept secrete all this long. Britons could have at least told you something. French, not good at all. Why even french hospital when infact Levy always goes to UK for treatment??

  78. #110 can u please to reason and respectfull.whether dead, dying or still alive i think the man deserves respect.

  79. Responding to treatment for a strok stricken person could merely be blinking eye to stimulus and one can be hospitalin a stable condition for years. You guys. Are you not schooled enough? Kanshi what is the proble. We all love Levy, but we dont want confusion?????

  80. Look at the words of RB. Always it is his excellence. Imwe, people dont use that in the modern world??. By not leasing the full report from the hospital, you are causing confusion. People are not mad to take pride in the presidents suffering but whould want to serve the country well. It is God who protakes the President and not these people talking about praying for Levy everytime. Some of them cant even pray for their relatives.

  81. 107 Hampongo – I am doing something my dear. You know Lozi Power. we ar enot idol like you Tongas. You know the potential Mongu has though neglected.

My brother i just feel that no matter what president, HH or Miyanda or Magande, they will not change our lives – WE JUST HAVE TO WORK HARD FOR OURSELVES AND OUR KIDS. they all go to plot 1 and enjoy. they wont think about people in Kaoma or Monze or where.

So lets particpate in politics,a nd support our candidates (not on tribal lines) but at the same time lets work hard for our lives not for these politicians whom we vote in and forget about us

  82. the president was half a veggie and now he’s fully a veggie, no hope, its beta to have a half veggie than all the other dim witted leaders scrouging for power.

  83. Most if not all the time, what people say is the absolute right. When you see majority saying that let us do this, that is the way to go. But here in Zed, politicians are self determined to opposing truth. I really dont know where it will take them. Look at our former presidents???Both of them stak. They can not even be recognised for any good they did simply because of adamance??????

  84. IMWE BONSE MWEBALELANDA PALI INE,MUKACHIMONA,2011.

MWE BA TONGA AKU TEKENI FYE NGOMBE ILLEDE I WILL WAKE YOU UP IN 2011.

ELYO AM NOT SICK, BECASUE EVERYONE WILL DIE.

    THIS IS MAIKO SATA SPEAKING.

  85. Here we go again, the update is not so diff from the ones wev been gettin, vague n jes rhetoric…why cant they atleast quote one of the doctors treating him or give us a detailed discription,4 al we know, this is jes propaganda,i mean those are jes words that rili dont mean much……………elo the atha day,Mulongoti was explaining civil service work conditions viz-a-vi medical issues,n he seemed to be saying that the president can be absent from office 4 up2 6 months b4 he can be discharged from office.so we are in 4 a long haul…………

  86. Its like they want to keep us in doubt about this illness. All of you called leaders, this is a lesson for you not be in public life if you are not prepared for public scrutiny. Don’t leave off the public money and sweat and when you get sick deny the public information about you. Being a public figure is not just to enjoy public goodwill and luxury the money public funds can afford you, BUT ALSO TO LET THE PUBLIC GET ACCESS TO YOUR FACETS OF YOUR LIFE. COULD BE MARITAL, PARENTAL SKILLS AND UNFORTUNATELY EVEN YOUR HEALTH SITUATION AT TIMES. Be brave to embrace public stance in most of your dealings and day to day life, not just chewing public money and then shutting them off certain data.

  87. #33 I totally agree with you. There is time for everything. If its time for him to die there is nothing we can do but accept.

  88. updates are meant to provide more information and unfortunately the ones we are getting are not achieving this objective.the only update that met the criteria was that which dispelled the rumour of LPM’s demise….since then nothing new has come out of State House! He is said to be making progress???Could specifics be attached to this welcome news of “progress” please!!!

  89. LPM aint dying any time soon. You will be surprised thta Sata will kick the bucket first thta LPM. Sata knows his health status thats he is prepairing to exit the political scene. The sooner PF realises that Sata is finished, the better for them as a Party to get a younger and vibrant successor to Sata who can counter HH on the Political scene, other than that, thats the end of PF!!

  90. there is a huge lack of differentiation between LPM as an individual whose illness should be sympathised by everyone as per our cultural norms and dictates and LPM an institution important for the security and political stability of our country and whose reaction should be in accordance with the country’s constitution. failure to see this difference is what has led to continued huge indicision in the country and we might live to regret soon as the country enters crissis which even if at the momment is not there is enevitable. let people with authority to epeak and make decision on the ailing leader do so now when they have time to do without urgency. the nation can not continue to on auto-p

  91. bonse tukafwa
we are human being and levy can die also – muntu ngaifwe. he is not made of copper.

how many times have we prayed for patients in UTH. arentthey human like LPM.

am surprised why pipo keep saying i

    “iyee LPM teti afwe”

shame on u, what about our releatives who have died, were they not human, they also had a role to play on earth

ala bonse bakafwa, even LPM. Ka chiluba, HH, Sata – They will all die…Ha ha ha ha ha ha death is with us always

  92. levy is not made of copper, he will dies like any human being when his time to die comes. if its now, he will die now, if its after HH, Sata, miyanda, sakala, tembo, chiluba…etc….he will die then

    bane twenda nemfwa.

    all of us will die
just be prepared ha ha ha ha

  93. levy is not made of copper, he will dies like any human being when his time to die comes. if its now, he will die now, if its after HH, Sata, miyanda, sakala, tembo, chiluba…etc….he will die then

    bane twenda nemfwa.

    all of us will die
just be prepared ha ha ha ha

  94. Rubbish feedback, we want to see levys video shown on ZNBC, just they do with all public figure the world over, atleast a short clip, he is our president please not a husband alnoe

  95. TREAT EVERYONE WITH POLITENESS
EVEN THOSE WHO ARE RUDE TO YOU,
NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT NICE
BUT BECAUSE YOU ARE NICE to them..
    -unknown.
    “One Zambia, one Nation.”

  96. and they do show us when we are in UTH by chance ZNBC is there on xmas

  97. LPM has done alot for this country. In my opinion of the three presidents we have had, Levy is the best. So lets pray for his quick recovery as a nation.

  98. I respect your shallow opion WM#147 please Kaunda Tops them all Its because people dont appreciate what its like to bring the kind of development KK brought to zambian, looking at the ere of time, in my view,
    1. KK

    2. LPM

    3. FTJ-Kafupi

  99. One thing is clear from all the bloggers – that Levy tapangwa no mukuba iyoo – and thus can die any time, may be he is even dead as we blog. However others, more so the MMD cadres and those who he owes a survival (the appointees – Mulongoti, RB and others) are still in denial with the reality. Let us move forward and start putting in place the process of succession into gear. A stroke as we all know is no joke, worst still suffering a second stroke is FATAL. The fatality is made worst when the petient in question is a survivor of a serious accident, prostate cancer and an earlier stroke. I love Levy, but pls when its time to move on do so. Its just like losing a loved one, as we all have had

  100. Lusaka – Ex-Zambian president Frederick Chiluba, on trial for corruption, had been allowed to return to South Africa for medical treatment after the rise in his blood pressure, his spokesperson said on Friday.

Chiluba was expected to travel on Saturday to South Africa after a court trying him for stealing public funds granted him permission to leave the country after an urgent application from his lawyers.

Emmanuel Mwamba said: “He has been granted permission to travel and his passport has been released. His blood pressure has been rising and has remained unstable.”

The court barred Chiluba from travelling as part of his bail conditions after the disappearance of two co-accused, includin

  101. HH could have done well to form his own political party. When Mazoka died (MHSRIP) some members from southern province met and agreed that only a Tonga must succeed the late. Sakwiba was the right hier to the UPND thrown, but since he was not tonga, was not preferred. Instead they went to ressurect somebody who was not even a memeber of the NEC in the name of HH. Why?? Because first and fore most he ws tonga and secondly he had some money.

HH could have done better to denounce those tribalist that met and eventually refuse to be president of UPND, but form his own political party. He could have been by now the OBAMA OF ZAMBIA. Obama denounces evil as it arise everytime, anytime, anywhere

  102. “Germany ambassador to Zambia Irene Hinrichsen said a win for Zambia over Togo would contribute to President Mwanawasa’s recovery from a stroke he suffered three weeks ago in Egypt”

i wonder what will happen if togo wins. i wish politics attracted real and reasonable people.

  103. the fact that HH accepted to lead the UPND shows that he liked the criteria the tribalist used for one to be UPND President. He even organised some villagers from southern to dance with spears at Mulungushi during the elections. He should have opted to have a well balaced support. To me it looked like he was vying for VILLAGE HEADMANSHIP in Monze.

As long as he remains in UPND, believe me or not he wil never be president of Zambia. PEOPLE WILL NEVER FORGET HIS ASCENDACE TO UPND PRESIDENCY.

Those who support him have the right to do so freely

  104. ya that was foul play on upnd and tongaland. thinking they can take zambia without unity and with discrimination and nepotism. why does upnd have a tendency of disappearibg from the political scene until there is a big matter at hand like the presidential election or larger by-elections and as of now when the president is sick. this shows how power hungry these tongas are, they need to learn from magande, a man working for the better of zambians and not just his kraal

  105. #83 I think many bloggers on this site were born in the 80s.I say this because you grew up in impoverished Zambia,so this makes you think LPM has done very well, thats alot of rubbish.Kaunda built schools, hospitals,UNZA,TAZARA,Oil pipeline,Indeni Oil refinery,Bridges, sent people to school from grade zero to PhD without paying a single ngwee,LPM got his Degree for free!!.Most of you don’t even know how many Ngwee there are in K100.Jobs came with good conditions including accommodation. Most of you now stay in sub standard housing in Kabwata,Chilenje,Chawama,Kanyama and so on.

  106. #154,156, what is democracy? HH was elected by Zambians in the UPND from all the 9 Provinces of Zambia. If only Southern Province was present at that convention, you could be justified in your assertions. As of now, just know and accept that Mr Sakwiba Sikota failed to convince UPND delegates from all the 9 Provinces to vot for him.
I totally understand why Mr Sakwiba Sikota is aggreved – losing an election is difficult to accept especially where you think things must be done like in a monarchy.
We have all been talking about how bad and unwarranted the issue of handpicking individual to succeed a sitting president is.

  107. How difficult is it to acknowledge that ‘let the best candidate or man win’ the very core of democracy.
Democracy is about competition. Did you people follow the American democratic Party race for a presumptive nominee for US(A) Presidential election which B. Obama clinched.
The simple thing to understand is that you have to compete. The best of all candidates wins.
Those who follow the UPND politics will tell/show you that there were two (2) Tonga candidates for UPND President. The question is why did the other Tonga businessman from South Africa lose the UPND Presidential election if your arguement about Tongas is correct?

  108. I do not see UPND going beyond Southern province in the next elections without UDA.UDA last time make them appear national, but surely on there own they strictly provincial.Come the next elections UPND won’t win a sit in Lusaka,Copperbelt,Northern,Luapula, half of Central i.e Kabwe,Kapiri,Mukushi,Serenje and even Livingsone in Southern province!!.Its the number of votes that counts.Wake up and go national, bring back other tribes into UPND like it was with Andy Mazoka(MHSRIP).

  109. Find time to look at the tally of those votes for that UPND convention and I am sure you will notice/find that beat Mr S. Sikota beat the other Tonga candidate.

Can we shift the discussion then to that UPND election so as to assess what exactly transpired then instead of ranting out of frastration and emotions.

  110. #160, the Livingstone vote for Mr S. Sikota in the 2006 elections simply shows you that there is no tribalism which you allege in Tonga people.
Find the 2006 Livingstone election results from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and you will notice that People voted for HH for President of Zambia, but Mr S. Sikota for MP. This is a clear demonstration of how Tonga people and others in the SP vote wisely.
If they were tribal, Mr S. Sikota was not going to be the Livingstone MP today. Check your facts right before you make HH to be more popular than he is now. The more you put wrong data, the those who know HH + UPND well will issue data that will convince those who are still doubting.

  111. Levy recovering steadily and HH’s election in UPND, any correlation?? People stop wasting your time and do some work. LPM and HH have enough to feed their families and here you are worsening your situation by hating someone without cause. Muzazonda nolema. Do something for yourselves and children. eeh!!! I am off, was only on comercial break, back to my thesis tata.

  112. Check properly on Barrack Obama’s rise in the Democratic Party. People and the Clinton campaign tried to use accusations and those same attacks backfired.

Here is free advice to all of you (Zambians) – for elsewhere you pay dearly for this sort of clear and good stuff, you don’t undermine people carelessly for you are bound to make them more popular when you can not justify your arguments coherently.

TAKE CAREFUL CARE AND KEEP WELL YOU ALL.

I AM OUT UNTIL AFTER THE SABBATH.

  113. #Maestro, you talk alot of sense. But you need to know that Livingstone is a dilluted place, many Zambians from all over have gone there.I hear Nyanja and Bemba being spoken all over L/stone.

  114. you guys why are u trying to favour me i dont know politics am a business man,I have never been an MP before and all i can do is experiment.let experienced big people (sata) take over and i will learn pleaseeee then u can back me,for Gods seek spare me am just being forced by the cousins of the lozis called tongos

  115. MY GOD IS FAITHFUL THAN YOUR DESIRE,HE HAS HOUNORED MY PRAYERS.MAY HE TOO CHANGE YOUR SOUL AND STOP JOKES.EPHESIANS 5V4,AND 4V5.ANONYMOUS MAKE YOUR SOUL READY TIME IS NO MORE.DYING IS EASY BUT JUDGEMENT AWAITS YOU.YOU WILL BE A FOOL FOREVER IF YOU REJECT OUR LORD.PRAYING FOR YOU.

  116. #166, I will delay my going just for you briefly. I have stayed in Livingstone and I will be in Livingstone in the next one to two weeks.Your comments on #166 may hold some water but the place is predominantly Tonga populated.I gave you some home work to do, just go and check you facts right – Southerners voted for HH for President and Sakwiba for PMP because they are progress people who vote for sensible candidates.I would have released more data but I have to go prepare for the Sabbath which will be starting in the next few hours. Here is something on languages, go anywhere in SP along the line of railway, you will find people using Nyanja as much as Tonga & Bemba is used by kaponyas.

  117. Someone explain to me what progress is in this case. For 3 weeks now we have been hearing about progress without an explanation of what the progress actually is. Is he breathing on his own, talking etc. GRZ quit monkeying around and be forthright with his condition. I have never been a fan of LPM but I’m praying for his recovery so he can finish what he started. I know there a lot of vultures waiting in the wings and hoping for the worst and GRZ is not helping the situation by giving very vague and uneducated statements. The Nation deserves the a much more detailed report

  118. One problem with African leaders is they do not know when to call it quits, leave on a good note with their legacy intact.Legacy is more important than what we all aspire for.LPM is until now capable of leaving a good legacy.Decisions have to be made now,for that legacy to be maintained.Sadly Levy may not be in a position to decide for his legacy, his wife, family and MMD have the leeway to redeem Levys legacy.Greed has destroyed leaders legacies and i hope those that have the powers will choose to preserve Levys legacy forever.Mandela is an example of what a legacy a leader can leave.Bad legacies are plenty do note have to mention them.

  119. Just finished listening to Obamas speech in Paris, yesterdays was marvelous in Berlin addresssed 200,000 Germans. The Man is Europes favourite .Now to those who understand history of Germany and been priviledged to travel would not expect a black traited man to pull such crowds there. The world has surely moved on.OBAMAs background would not make him have a go at our presidency, yet we are just a poor underdeveloped Country.Did you know that Sakozy the President of France is originally from Hungary,Gordon Brown Prime Minister of England is Scottish. What is this tribal pertinness pa Zed mwebantu. If it was Bembas and Ngonis i would have said Chimbuya not what we are doing.Lets talk issues abena ZD

  120. Veep,Kindly keep quite if you have got nothing to say about the president’s illness,we are tired of steady & stable conditions
LPM get well soon & may God bless

  121. #157…each president has served a purpose so far: KK brought about independence and built basic infrastructure..Kafupi opened our eyes to popular democracy but fell into the temptations of corruption..LPM serves to change the “inchekelako” mentality and begin the foundations for economic prosperity and some level of integrity in business…the next chap will hopefully be an economic manager to take us forward and make a difference in every zambians pocket!!

  122. #176 bakaamba ba The Original Pundit. Mukafwa, your children will die, their children will die. I can put my money on it. Every Zambain`s pokect? Zero. When a President goes to be addmitted in a POSH hospital when there is no water in UTH! Dream on mate.

  123. Some comments on here are quite ridiculous to say the least. The President is entitled to privacy of his health information and it’s upto his family to give detailed information if they so choose. We will all know his exact condition when the time is right. If my close relative was in a similar predicament I would also want to respect and protect their privacy.
Also, those of you who think that someone will save you from your economic woes while you sit on your lazy butts without making any initiatives for self improvement can keep dreaming. If you want to live a better life work hard and strive instead of alwasy waiting for free handouts that you feel you’re entitled to.

  124. #178 I agree with you 101%, I have never heard of a president who issues money to people to get them out of their poverty. All the ruling team does is to create an enabling environment and it is up to each one to seize the opportunity and work hard to better themselves. If you will be waiting for handouts and do nothing about your situation then you are as finished as Cycle Mata.

  125. I stand to be corrected, but I believe a republican president with executive powers vested in him ,ceases to be a private/personal matter and becomes an institution. The individualism in him becomes a public institute and this is why the health of a sitting president world over is never treated as private. The reason behind this is because the presidency in itself has powers to decide the fate of the nation.Eg people dont want to doubt the sanity of the president as he msy wake up one day and risk the country to a war not justified and plunge the nation into turmiol.

  126. #31…Zambians, we’re never far from mentioning ‘God’ in everything. We’re so religious that it hardly means anything anymore. So if Levy gets better then god has forgiven him and if he dies he has not been forgiven? What happened to life cycle- can’t living things just die as nature intended?

Christianity was introduced to Africa about 200 years ago and it has done nothing but divide and damaged our society. Maybe it’s time we started to seek the truth about life and nature in general and NOT base our thinking and hopes on a 2000 years outdated thinking. Shibukeni people!!!

  127. The Veep must do better that what he has been giving us. What does he mean when he say the president is “steadily recovering” Can he tell us more of the president’s condition (i.e. he is comma, aided in breathing and eating, jogging in the streets of Paris or walking around percy hospital premises) Not Maureen is by the bed side and thanking people for the prayers. Tired of the obsolete updates from state house. Get serious

  128. Sansakuwa Kanjangu says: Jul 26th, 2008 at 5:20 am
It is an astonishing kind of hereditary stupidity that sees Katangese stinkers on both sides of the Luapula river welded to the habit of electing proven thieves into office all the time. Look at Chiluba, Katumbi etc and now Katele Kalumba will be voted for in large numbers by these tailed low life premates of the Ituri forest we have the tragedy of being called neighbours and fellow countrymen to.MANY THANKS SANAKUWA…

  129. Abena Copperbelt, please post on here Livingstone 2006 Prsidential and Parliamentary Results for HH with the rest and Sakwiba with his competitors.

Thanks in advance. Please, for Livingstone only and not any other.

  130. Livingstone Presidential Results-2006

    HH 15, 198 (42.22%)
    LPM 13, 499 (37.50%)
    Sata 6, 797 (18.88%)

    Livingstone Parliamentary Result-2006

    Sakwiba (ULP) 16, 090
    Mutinta (UPND) 11, 291
    Simango (MMD) 8, 680

  131. Thank very much #186. I personally do not think I need to analyse much on the Lvingstaone Results. They Speak for themselves.
HH led the Presidential poll because voters knew he was the best candidate for it followed by our Republican President Mr LP Mwanawasa (SC, Hon. Doctor) who was close to winning because of his good governance, leadership and policies. (Poor-finishing’s) PF’s Hon Sata clearly was no match to both HH and President LP Mwanawasa.
The Parliamentary results on the otherhand gives us a glimpse of how Southerners voted wisely. While they overwhelmingly voted for HH for president, they still voted for Sakwiba for MP because they reckoned he was needed in our Parliament.

  132. Mr Sakwiba Sikota out-performed both the UPND candidate Mutinta and MMD’s Simango. Although the UPND candidate got more votes compared to the MMD one, the results demonstrate that Southerners vote wisely as opposed to tribal inclinations.
As a matter of fact, their choice for HH for president and Sakwiba for MP removes any doubt they Southerners reason carefully as they vote.
This has nothing to do with Livingstone being cosmopolitan.
I hope you will glean the sense #166 and others-who-fail-to-acknowledge-simple-logic.
Have a great day you all Zambians and take care of yourselves.

  133. 188 Sakwiba sikota is actualy Lozi too even if he won in SP.Some stupid Zambians always turn to trivial tribal inclinations, who analyses other tribes in the country?

  134. Great stuff and thanks #189. Indeed this contributes nicely to my oversight in analysis.
Surely, Mr Sakwiba Sikota a Lozi from his ULP won with a telling margin over a Tonga, Mutinta, for the UPND. This clearly shows that issues to do with tribal in the Southern Province are a non-starter.
Objective analysers and thinkers can not fail to notice this important fact that has been highlighted by the able #189.
I think Lusakatimes could have come at a better time than this. We need proper analyses to dis-spell cheap politicking that has been perpetrated by TRIBAL POLITICIANS like Hon Sata who want to force all Zambians to use Bemba in their home-tribe-lands.

  135. LPM should step down on health grounds soon after he comes back,if he has any principles at all. This is a man who retired a seemingly fit Mundia Sikatana on ‘health grounds’ when everybody knows it was because of the strong stance Sikatana wanted Zambia to take on the zimbabwe issue. The same issue that has now caused him to suffer the second stroke in two years.Zambians are grateful for your contribution Mr. President,if you ever read this, but please for yours and everybody else’s sake free yourself from the pressures of this very demanding, stressful and challenging job.

  136. …and so the drama continues, LPM ‘makin steady progress’, guess they’ll be saying that 2 months 4rm now and no one will raise objections to avoid sounding ‘insensitive’! C’mon peeps, LPM is incapacitated and best thing is for him to step down and hand over the baton. If those around him are sensible enuf, they’ll put common sense b4 greed and let the big man enjoy his retirement in peace…

  137. Mdm Maureen, would u rather b a widow or happy retiree’s wife with a generous pension package incl security, cars & fuel, house, support staff etc…? LPM shud have retired on medical grounds long time ago, but the vanity of African politics, got the better of his senses!
