Mr. Sikota, who is also Livingstone MP, urged Zambians to remain prayerful during this trying moment.

UPND President, Hakainde Hichilema has described the death of President Mwanawasa as a dark day for Zambia.

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) says the death of President Mwanawasa is a big blow to Zambia's young democracy.

  1. The African continent and Zambia have lost a great leader. Dr LPM SC inspired integrity. He united and dignified Zambia. I will greatly miss my president. He remained focussed in the abundance of a million distractions. I thank God for having given us a leader like him. I also thank God for inspiring Chiluba to pick LPM as his successor. He stabilized Zambia amidst boisterous storms and waves. God has promised us that he will never leave us comfortless. To all Zambians in Zambia and in diaspora who are sincerely mourning our beloved president, may you find strength comfort and in the person of the holy spirit.

  2. This the beginning of a new era for Zambia. It is a shame that Levy Patrick Mwanawasa’s life has been cut short. I guess this is what was planned by the almighty God, who can give and take away anytime.

I pray that God shows mercy and gives strength to the Mwanawasa family during this moment of sadness.

LPM did his part for Zambia, MHSRIP.

  3. #5 jesus is the answer to what? isnt it the same jesus who let him die. can we do away with this prayer thing and focus on what next? jesus isnt giving us the next leader i can assure you. LPM may have done his part, but he certainly did not prepare others to take up leadership, as in create an environment for leaders to emerge and grow

  4. LPMs’ death wasnt planned by God. It has just happened he has died this time around.
Anyways, lets remain united as ever.

  5. Meno Mafuwa nchobeni ndazumina. Us in Rural Zambia we havy seen these guys coming to address rallies in readiness for a by-election. Masimpe ngakuti they are happy that the bottle has been opened and they now have a chance for plot one. Zambians be vigilant.

  6. # 7 Ms zambia,Jesus does not let anyone die,its appointed for man to die once and thereafter judgement, death came through sin, christ himself had to die to conquer death, and we shall all be risen thereafter judgement.

  7. #10 you are right. i have this premonition that its a kaliloze that worked on our beloved. the suspects in this operation could be the usual names being mentioned and those who were sworn enemies of our beloved. just thinking aloud but i hope we should engage sansakuwa. his son usually blogs on this forum and am sure he can assist in contacting his dad.

  8. No witch hunting here the president was a sick man from day 1 no wonder even KK was against him going for presidency (remember the name cabbage started as a result of him being sick in 2001). Its only by God’s grace that he stayed up until now. Zedians lets learn to let go, I know death is painful and one is never used it, but we all have to die some day, whether as foetus, baby, young and old.

  9. # 7 You don’t know what you are saying. We did what we had to do by praying. now the will of God has taken place.king Jesus has alrady chosen a leader for us to take over where LPM left. Yes Big LPM we will miss your great leadership.it’s time to look up to God as Zambians for peace to continue

  10. The people that have caused this are people that PLM surrounded himself with. His family, relatives and political allies. The man had a stroke first time in 2006. If anybody really loved him, they should have strongly adviced him to step down to save his own life but awe no body was willing to tell the man the truth. I remember reading about PLM talking about resigning from the Presidency because it was too stressful and he didn’t enjoy his Presidency because he had to time for his family. These were signs but most of you hypocrites decided to use him for your own benefit even when you knew that politics wasn’t good for him because of health reasons.

  11. No one delights in one’s death – friends and foes alike are geniunely moved by LPM’s death.

It’s a great loss to everyone and we can only ask God for strength and guidance during this moment.

  12. #18, he should have been firm enough to put his interests first, that was his health. you cant blame other people. blame him for not being strong enought to tell them all to go stand for the position or go to hell. besides he also wanted the benefits of being president that is why he stood for re election.

  13. did he have any sons? abanankwe bafwila mu bana. when we thot chilu and sata were going, their sons went on thier behalf.

  14. #23. will cross that bridge when we get there. this is time to reflect on leadership in our country. its almost non existent. the maker will be more interested in what we will have done to make life bearable for one another as leaders

  15. ICHIBUMBA, H.E, COMMANDER IN CHIEF, STATE COUNCIL,PREZDO and STRONG MAN of Africa has gone. MHSRIP but
Kafupi you must be the last person to say anything on this matter. We know that you and your associates are busy celebrating secretly. I promise you one thing, you will not walk scort-free even if LPM has gone. How is your heart ?????

  16. #25 We do not know when it is our time to go.Zambia will remain here but our lives will not.One day it will be our turn.

  17. Brothers and Sisters i agree with ( Biggie Jim )

Lets KEEP OUR brand of “ONE Zambia” “One Nation” and remain united.

We only have this wonderful Zambia to keep and cherish for the future Zambian generations.

May the family of The Late State President be comforted by our Lord JESUS CHRIST.

We continue praying for them as Zambia mourn my beloved President LPMwanawasa.

May his soul rest in peace

    Terry the ZAMBIAN

  18. #7 Ms Zambia 2010.I beg your my ceecee do not play with and never should you redicule the lord.He knew you and LPM both before you were conceived and has been calling upon you to refrain from your immoral activities and following home so that when your business is finished on earth you have a home to go to beyond the river.LPM groomed some people to take over from him when his time come to end like now but could not tell us the name.Thats why he was assigning them different roles to play in government so as gauge their sultability and maturity. If we pray without ceasing and humble ourselves as a nation to the almight he is so kind and wise with full of mercy to give us the leader we want no

  19. #29, the maker will judge you by what are doing now while on earth. so in your reflection ask yourself what you are doing NOW to make our country a heaven for yourself, other people and all living creatures. with that, you will have something to say to the Maker. and improving leadership is one of the things you and i can work on

  20. Ms zambia 2010 wituma email iyo mukashi wandi kuntanshi napapata!!!!!!. Someone somewhere also want you. I will give you mine later pantu teti tufwayane pamalilo. Leka tushike palichibili uyu mulungu uleisa.

  21. #31 if he had groomed people, he should not have been the one travelling around the world. he would have minimised his work knowing he could trust his colleagues. He simply had too much work which many people would have gladly helped him with.

  22. number 7 ,miss zambia 2010…. i thought satanism was over in zambia? …yes the devil is at work …. i hate you with my soul, god may forgive me for that. never speak bad about jesus ok. may the soul of LPM rest in peace.

  23. #30 Terry Lupupa boyi how are you? Consoling words indeed!!!
Lets jus wish mother Zambia peace and tranquility to prevail during this trying time and ofcourse the transition!!! Are you making paint in Bots boyi or are doing other things??? It has been a long time…

  24. It is not right to say that others are rejoicing over LPM’s death. Death is a bad thing even if it happens to your enemy. What we need is to unite and mourn LPM with dignity. His time has come to answer the Lord’s call and even if he was not hypertensive he still would have died. Let us just pray to God to appoint another leader through us. Those who ridicule the name of the Lord better repent as you are treading on delicate ground.

  25. Its sad we lost a leader because now we might have worse but Imnot going to sit and pretend that I thought he was the best president he ever had. I don’t think that. During his time, he did some good things and he will be remebered for that but really he wasnt perfect so can people stop ^pretending and seriously it was just his time, can people accept that and move on instead of pointing fingers.#13 and 10. I agree with #20. He wanted the perks of being a president.

  26. Chiluba should just shut up! We don’t need any pretenders, am sure him and his wife are glad the Big man is gone but time will catch up with him and his wife too! Their hearts must be rejoycing now but mwapya manjemanje muza yenda elo munjila yo ipa!

  27. #37. i dont blame you. i lost my heart when my mother had a heart attack and no doctor would attend to her coz they were on strike. she died. that was years ago. am not necessarily happy that the president is dead, but am not sad either. whatever tears i had i shed them for my mother. at least he had the services of military hospital in europe and prayers of many zambians. but then c’est la vie. i feel for his children though, its not nice to lose a parent.

  28. 42, Ms Zambia 2010 says, you are just a frustrated gay man or ugly woman, my mum died at UTH, two of my sisters also at UTH, my other sister in Kabwe hospital. What has their deaths got to do with Mwanawasa? Even if the facilities were the best, they were going to die anyway, people die in Japan, US, France. Levy was the head of state, it was within his entitlements to be treated in France. Oh why did you not send your mum to SA? Work hard and get out of your poverty.

  29. # 7 very foul mouth. May the Lord forgive you. FTJ is a wise leader. The one who hand picked LPM has all the right to comment and give directives to Zambians as a former president. Why are you people full of hatred?

  30. #43 accepted. as a result of my experience, i have asked my brother who is in medical school to try his best never to let another person die because he is on strike. u know wats funny, my mother was a nurse and wen nurses went on strike she worked as a Red Cross volunteer.

  31. #44. it has absolutely nothing to do with him even if he was the president. and am sure your being in namibia has nothing to do with running away from our poor health system in zambia

  32. Miss Zambia 2010 your blog in number 7 leaves nothing desirable to read over and over. If you are a woman as you claim and felt death of your mother you cannot say what you said. And the bible clearly says that you should NEVER mock Jesus and you did just that. No human is immortal, you will die just like LPM but with you it will be a painful death coz you have mocked God Almighty. If I were you I would kneel down and ask for forgiveness immediately.

  33. Ms Zambia 2010 says, you sound that you are happy that Levy dead, you may be happy that up to you. My point is that just because you mum dead at U.T.H should not be reason for to celebrate Levy’s departure. You sound very bitter. The Namibian government hospitals are just as bad, do a google search and see. What I am saying is that in civilised societies say US, when a president or former president dies or calamity like 9-11, people unity. Sorry to break your heart but the death of Mwanawasa has more serious consequences than your mum’s death, with due respect to her.

  34. #53 well said. Coz even I lost my father in 1994 because then ARV’s were not available but am not blaming the President or Govt I know his time had come. Ms Zambia 2010 when you go to the grave yard there are people from rich families and poor families dead all buried with the same soil. But no one is bitter with anyone, when God says its time then there is nothing no Doctor can do either in France or Zambia.

  35. 7. never ever put the name on the holy one in redicule.
Jesus has and will always be the answer. Count your blessings my friend. At least you can even have time to write your nonmsense to this blog.
Blasphemy will lead you in to a lot of trouble.
May God have mercy on you.

  36. its interesting when people react to things they have not even proved right or wrong from someone they dont even know. it shows thier depth of thought. good luck guys especially shidada and lady L. i know you are not bitter, that is why you mentioned the word.

  37. Twanaka namapepo…we’ve been praying since the stroke; we just need another leader and then we get on with our lives.

  38. imwe bantu has this site now been degraded to a dating site?
Anyways, the good Lord has a plan for all of us and we are here to fulfil our purpose and maybe it was just his time. I for one feel that, should you not have an appreciation for one’s religion and beliefs, express it if you must BUT have some respect.

May god continue to watch over our country and its people

  39. Ms Zambia 2010 there is nothing to prove right or wrong you said what you said as it was. It does not matter whether we know you or not but when we see someone going in the wrong path we should advise its up to them to make the decision. And thanx am not bitter in any way, when I become bitter I will shorten my life.

  40. Lady L, I do understand you way of thinking. quite amazing i must add, and typical of people who are yet to be touched by the magic of difference. You honestly think you and i have the same definition wrong? i would love to learn more from, but this aint the place or time. so good luck coz the day you will be touched by the magic of difference, you will never be the same again. U know what, jesus had it, thats why he was able to touch the lepers, prostitutes, sinners and even women. they were never the same after that touch.

  41. What magic of difference? Jesus was God in flesh. In His name when can do wonders. But if you talking about your own powers, I think it is time you saw a shrank for professional help.

  42. #64. wow! you are just as amazing. For you i recommend the magic of curiosity in addition to that of difference.

  43. Ms Zambia 2010,you want 2 tempt people to fall fot your open satanism, shameless, retarded and cursed creature.not in zambia read the gospel of methew 3 and 4.Even our lord was tempted by your boss lusfer and you will find our answers, for now get behind every well meaning zambian, satana iwe.

  44. Ms Zambia 2010
you want 2 tempt people to fall for your open satanism you shameless, retarded and cursed creature.
Not in zambia. Read the gospel of methew 3 and 4.Even our lord was tempted by your boss lusfer and you will find our answers, for now get behind every well meaning zambian, satana iwe.
BE ADVISED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN DEVILS LIKE YOU B4 .U R NOT THE FIRST 1.THEY TRIED AND FAILED COZ GOOD WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL OVER EVIL

  45. Chiluba must be caged. The next leader must demonstrate its committment to fight corruption. Chungu,Katebe katoto et all must not be allowed back in Zambia.

  46. Anyway, Ms Zambia 2010 belongs to a group which prefers look for differnt opinoin at any time in any situation. Ba Ms Zambia 2010 people are injured spiritually and emotionally, so what you are saying is like adding salt to the wound.
If you have beliefs to contrally to Christianity keep them to yourself. Jesus died but he rose from the dead and is ruling. That why even FTJ is calling upon The Name to intervene at this trying moment.
The intervation of Jesus is a miracle which can not be expressed in plain words.
Jesus is for Zambia and forever Zambia for Zambia.

  47. “Ba Chiluba, Ba Chiluba ebatwebele
    Ba Chiluba, Ba Chiluba ebatwebele
Uko muleya mwebana bandi mukavote The Hour
Uko muleya mwebana bandi mukavote The Hour

    Mwanawasa, Mwanawasa ewatwebele
    Mwanawasa, Mwanawasa ewatwebele
Uko muleya mwebana bandi mukavote The Hour
Uko muleya mwebana bandi mukavote The Hour.”

  48. However, Faz said today that it is still consulting as to whether to play a second training game due to the death on Tuesday of Zambian president Levy Mwanawasa after the national day of mourning was extended from 7 to 21 days

  49. frustrations and hatred seem to be the order of the blog, its no more educative than destructive,we need more Obamas and less Osamas on this blog.
Its being months i left this blog still nothing has changed,it seems more confused bloggers are coming in.
LPM rest in peace,we will alwaz love you,I know angels are taking you in,May God bless your wife and all your children.

  50. Bros & Sis in our ONE and only BELOVED NATION.Given to us by THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR.
The same creator is WATCHING over our situation. He has promised [Matthew 28]Never to leave us alone.
I totally concur with bros above (No.4,30,38.Biggie,Lupupa, Lt Gen, respectively) for the Godly sentiments. Thx very much.
Dark moments in our personal lives and the nation at large are not meant 2destroy nor kill us.
Behind very dark cloud there is a silver lining.
Lets apply Romans 13,Eph 2.13. God shall give us another leader because he has promised.A leader who is PROFESSIONAL, BALANCED, WELL-ROUNDED, GOD FEARING as THE GREAT PLM.A leader who shall propel us to greater heights(1cor. 2.9) MHSRP

  51. Chiluba belongs in a cage in a london zoo, for display as a self plunderer of his country, anonymous you can join him too.

  52. I know well beyond doubt that those corrupt little crukes are inwardly celebrating. What a dissgrace. I wish I was presidential age and material. I was going to sacrifice death for justice like someone I have now only known. MHSRIP

  53. #18 anonymous, save ur breath. Time has just come. what contributed 2 levy’s death is mostly his health truck record. He was badly burnt when he was young 2 the point that maybe even his parents never expected him to survive. Whilst he was VP he got involved in a terrible accident. Zambia never expected him 2 survive. Luckily, he did. He has had other strokes apart from the current 1. God forbide. Some terrible thing was ever going 2 happen with levy. 2 make matters worse, he was heavily undermined by Mbeki and Mugabe. 2 me this was the last stroke, plus the putting on of weight, uncontrollably. In fact no 1 bwitched him as some pipo r saying.

  54. Fellow mourners, kindly ignore all the comments that are mocking the death of our beloved president. By responding to them, we give them the honour that indeed their comments have hit the target. Let us not give them that honour.

All those that are championing peace and togetherness in this trying hour, may God bless you without reserve. We shall definately come out of this situation stronger than ever in the mighty name of Jesus.

  55. Shidada you you are a very deluded person. You are an hipocrite. Stop pretending that you have lost relatives. I do not agree with what a certain Miss 2010 is saying, but imwe bonse abacula ninshi tababombesha? I have relatives in the village and not all of them are lazy. Have you ever been to the village? Not blaming anyone before you get excited but don`t you heartless person think they deserve better? I can only see a typical moron in you.

You are a very lucky person you can easily afford to send your relatives to South Africa. Not all people can afford that and hope you do thank God for that-you are rich! But, why would you want to send them to South Africa anyway

  56. Shidada because you have managed to go to Namibia does not mean those who haven`t are *****s or lay. That is life man.

Learn to have respect for others but most of all thank God that you can easily afford to send your relatives to South Africa for treatment. There are people in Zed who can not (genuinely)afford a meal. Do you give to Charity? There are a lot of orphans in Zed now who have dropped out of school (the lazy ones to you) please think about them.

  57. when are we going to stop insulting leaders. remember back in the day it was unheard of to insullt elders. and when are you going to let the law take its course? Innocent until proven guilty. and when are bloggers going to stop insulting, lets not use this as a podium to utter attrocity because of annonomity like cowards. No doubt in a time of sorrow look to God, in atime of happiness look to God, at all times lookl to God. it sadens me to read whats in the minds of zedians today, no vision, no focus, just uku bwata bwata recklessly

  58. Mwepmupu mwaumfwa fye bwino, but for how long, coz plot one tamwakaimyange. We will see to it that you all end up in the pen where scum like you belongs. Iwe ka minimie, who’re you trying to fool with your hypocrisy?

  59. I think Castro is depending on the bemba vote?,only a fool would vote for him!.I saw that family spending our money in Luton and London like water, never again.

  60. I see nothing wrong with #7 comments. Let everyone express their opinions without being admonished. Religion makes sense to some and not to others. If you have a personal conviction in a certain way, don’t expect everyone else to feel the same!!!

  61. Ms. Zambia dont throw pity parties here. Your mothers death sad as it was has nothing to do with your lack of sympathy, so many people have lost loved ones, i think you’re hiding behind a tough surface and yet inside youre a lost little girl/ boy. And you lost your God somewhere.. Shame.

  62. What a waste of paper space to allow a thief to make comments on the need to look up to God for guidance. A thief has no respect for God’s institutions, the people and its Government. I would advise the media to ignore the thief Chiluba kafupi to spare space for people of integrity.

On another note, as the nations awaits the successor to Levy Mwanawasa, we should be mindful on who we eventually choose and elect as the next president of Zambia. As a timely reminder, we do not need corrupt leadership again and I agree with Mpombo that politicians who are corrupt, thieves and tribalists do not even have to think about running for presidency. Katele Kalumba and Diangamo are an example.

  63. imwe guys ka caristo kachili kalebomba aini, mwaloesheni. ala kwazizila, chalibipa abafyashi. now cumin ku ma elaection. bushe opposition akakwanisha ukuchita campaign mu 3 months, ku filekafye, bachili na bakwata 2011.anso ukachita campagn aka sebana sana nda lusa. nomba uyu katele bushe kuti twapusuka ku bulosh? Lesa atwafye… nomba ba mambala bambi leponta panfwa ya bafyashi ala tachiweme.

  64. Fellow zambians please let us be united and mature. Death is death and we cant run away from it. let us not insult each other. We should respect other peoples opinions.
