Prof Chirwa to stay away from the MMD presidential race

Share

Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD), Presidential hopeful Professor Clive Chirwa has disclosed that he will not float his name for the party’s presidential candidate in the forth-coming by-election following the death of President Mwanawasa.

Professor Chirwa says he has no intentions to stand as MMD’s presidential aspirant because he was preparing for the 2011 general elections.

He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that he has decided not to float his name as MMD’s presidential hopeful because of the need to maintain stability in the ruling party following the untimely demise of Dr Mwanawasa.

Professor Chirwa, who is also a United Kingdom (UK) based University Lecturer urged the Zambian people to vote for a credible candidate whom he said will add to the virtues of President Mwanawasa when the country goes to the polls.

When asked which party he would support in the forth-coming Presidential by-elections, Professor Chirwa said that he will rally behind the MMD party as it was the only party that was committed to uplifting the living standards of its people.

Professor Chirwa said there is need for the country to vote for a credible and mature candidate that will be an economic manager of the country and who is going to continue with fight against corruption in the country.

Meanwhile, Professor Chirwa has advised investors in the country not to pull out their investment portfolios following the untimely death of President Mwanawasa.

He said there is no need for investors to panic about their investment portfolios in Zambia as government was doing everything possible to continue with the prudent economic management and good governance despite the death of Dr Mwanawasa.

He said investors in the country and those intending to invest in the country should not panic as the country’s economic fundamentals were on track and not changed in any way to suit certain interests of some political leaders in the country.

Professor Chirwa said government through the leadership of the acting President Rupiah Banda will continue with its prudent economic management and fiscal discipline and adhering to the tenets of good governance.

He further disclosed that he has brought British investors whom he said were in the process of investing in the country’s road construction industry, railway and mining sectors respectively.

In a related development, Former Vice President Enock Kavindele has advised MMD presidential aspirants to desist from discussing the party’s Presidential successions before the burial of the late President Mwanawasa.

Mr. Kavindele said that it was too early for MMD’s presidential hopefuls to start announcing their intentions to stand as the party’s Presidential aspirants in the forth-coming Presidential by-elections.

The former Vice President has since advised the MMD party to remain calm and peaceful as they mourn President Mwanawasa with dignity and respect.

And Zambia’s renowned soccer commentator Denis Liwewe has described Dr Mwanawasa’s death as a big blow to the entire Zambian sports fraternity.

Mr. Liwewe told ZANIS in a separate interview in Lusaka today that the sports fraternity in Zambia has learnt with the deepest sense of shock and sorrow of the untimely death of Dr Mwanawasa.

He said President Mwanawasa during his reign as Zambia’s Republican President and Patron of Sports in the country devised an effective sports action plan that looked into the development of the sports fraternity in the country.

Mr. Liwewe said the sports fraternity in the country, will greatly miss Dr Mwanawasa’s leadership as he had provided impeccable leadership for both the country and Africa as a whole.

He conveyed his deepest condolences on behalf of the sports fraternity to the First Lady, Maureen Mwanawasa, First family, the people of Zambia and the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD).

  1. good ma mudala ba prof, stay away from this race, just focus on the 2011 elections,we shall rally behind u,u r not power hungry like these chaps e.g HH,SATA,MIYANDA,

  2. #2 u should face the facts,HH is having sleepless nights cos he cant wait to go to plot1.same with sata,

  3. Pr. Chirwa has shown some sound judgement. True leaders do not even vie for office like we are seing. They are chosen by the people.

  4. Imwe do not be fooled by ba mudala ba chirwa, MMD cannot even adopt him for crying loud. Who would let him contest anyway? Its obvious MMD cannot even adopt him lest he forms his own party. Ba mudala sungeni money yenu mukalwalapofye high blood pressure with Zed politics.

  5. Ba Prof Chirwa is a joker, who in Zambia can vote for him?
he lectures in China & Uk but has he ever lecturered in Zed?
he thinks kwati ifwe mu Zed tulifipuba tetitusale omo palifwekafweka?
he is just scared that he will not be adopted and even if he were to be adopted he can loose terribly!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Ok congratulations prof, you are showing us how mature you are and for that you have my respect…you know what makes me wonder though, what will happen to HH after he loses agin this time around?….concentrate on 2011??

  7. Chi number # 8, Choncho Fichite. This is your own stupid opinion, don’t generalize it for Zambia, because i for one i will vote for him come 2011. It doesn’t make him less Zambian than you by virtue of working abroad all his life than u.

  8. Uwali kwata jealous mwaiche. By being filthy rich, he makes a good candidate to me who i suppose is vying for presido for service.

  9. LPM was rit we ‘ve enuf capable pipo who can lead us rit here in Zed we dont need outsiders.ba kavindele ba voka sense.Chirwa even in 2011 we dont need u

  10. # 9, what will happen to Sata when he losses theses elections, considering that he is very old and has had health problems of late? Chirwa should just come out in the open and say that he is not contesting because he will not be accepted by the MMD currently. Even if he wanted to stand, he would not manage this time around because of the people currently within the party.

I like what the post said when the encouraged selfless Zambians to begin campaigning and I think HH is just doing the right thing when he positions himself strategically. We cannot afford to allow the country to go satanists those who practice daylight witchcraft with laptops.

  11. Vera chiluba has experience of plot one and also experience as a MP. She is also a sound bussiness woman. Maybe we should give a woman like her a chance to be president. I can vote for her

  12. #12 You are right, Chirwa has just showed us who he is. How can he support individuals who are awarding themselves heft salaries at the expense of other Zambians? Chirwa knows that even if he wanted to contest the presidential election, he will not have a chance within the MMD currently. The MMD NEC cannot give him a chance and this case will be decided on Sep 5, 2008. Chirwa would have a chance if the issue was going to call for a convention and if he had been in the party long enough to allow him qualify. Right now what we are seeing are the grapes that have become sour. Chirwa is equally power hungry, its only that there is no chance for him right now.

  13. Ba Prof Chirwa chipuba. His a serious joker. The post tried to push him cos they want their own to be in front to safe guard business intrests- zambian airways na Post newspapers. Bloggers just watch and see how they will try their best to do that. Look at how they have been hitting chiluba in their editorial comments. Their target is Sata. They lost in 2006 elections. the people didnt follow what the Post said about chiluba and Sata. Lets see what happens now.

  14. Prof. I would urge u 2 come 2 Zed now let pipo kno who u r .contest MMD or UPND convention V.P position thn 2016 presidential candidate.u cant climb a tree from the top

  15. That was wise of him to make that choice. Now lets watch how the other selfish guyz in MMD will start fighting!!! actually non of them is even worthy to lead!!!!!

  16. The Urban area are supporting Sata what ever the post say. Their Newspaper is sold 70% in urban areas (line of rail) but the people voted for sata. I see that happening again. The boat is about to sail!!!!

  17. Prof is already in Zambia at the moment.Come 2011 we are all coming back to make sure a credible leader like prof is elected,I can’t wait…

  18. Sounds good polofesa chilwa, although I do not know what your chances are even in 2011. The history in the world of people who come home to want to be presidents after living abroad as long as you have is not good unless there are special political circumstances or history. Tizaona. However, you have a right to contest, mwanangwa.

  19. Its always not easy to unseat the incumbent,Professor Chirwa must know that.If he is not ready now he will never be ready period.Whoever gets it in the next 2 AND 1/2 MONTHS IF EXCUTES HIS WORK WELL WILLL BE ANOTHER lEVY IN 2011.Morever Presidents are not a pair of pants to be changed every day,we may just decide to stick to whoever we get now in 2011.Tough lack Professor.

  20. Fred membe got shares mu zambian airways. The nchito brothers, fred m’membe were enjoying favours from first family through first lady. The death of ba LPM has brought that all crushing down and they are busy trying to put their own to continue. they are forgetting that LPM’s goverment stepped on others people’s toes too. This will be a fight. People will use their money to change things. ha ha ha!!! this will be good to watch! Let the games begin!!!

  21. Good decision prof. Chirwa. Keep it up!!! But this bye election my fellow Zambians lets not give the presidency to the MMD. They are a bunch of confused thieves ready to strike now that Levy has passed on.

  22. Prof. Politics+plot 1 is not 4 the faint hearted.read American history read about Abraham Lincon tried+tried didnt give up till he became prez of USA

  23. 23. buka why cant you vote for vera ? because she is a woman? stop being sexist.
And PONYAX 24 she was acussed of having an affair as revenge for FJTs womanizing.
Gents she has proved her self against all odds ,that is what zambia needs in plot 1.

  24. This man knows he can’t win in a Zambian election and was begging LPM to endorse him, why didn’t he form another party like Sata, Sikota, Mazoka and others? He wants to come in through the back door. Come and campaing Chirwa, what are you afraid of now?

  25. prof chirwa has just made a very big important decision….we will be behind you in 2011 only if lupando mwape fails to deliver

  26. But mulasabaila mwe bantu. Some of you Zedians have a very bad short memory, how do you suggest to vote for Sata who just had a stroke some few months ago. Please twapapata lets choose someone healthy and young. Tatulefwaya n chililo na chimbi. Awe mwandini fwe fikopo elyo twafula.

  27. Mule!! dont get me wrong!!!! we are talking about real politics(president) of which she has no qualifications!! moreover i dont even think she has enough education!!!!!!

  28. Tekanyeni guys, PF has not officially floated their candidate. Those of you who thinking they’ll float Sata are in for a shock. Given Lubinda or Scott may be floated. These capable healthy men will give the MMD a good run. Forget HH, let him stick to his busines which he’s good at.

  29. 40. buka even if Vera is a grade 7, she has proved herselh by leading those Ndola women. She has shown strong leadership. and thru being wife of ex president, she has some forigen policy skills lacking in many aspiring candidates.

  30. Pro Chirwa..come back and join Rank and file..otherwise you will always be regarded a joker and comedian. the only reason u cant jump in is because of your hanging to your contractual obligation to enable u get gratuity. You are not selfless…as your Kaboneke want to potray you.

  31. chirwa might be of substance but he is not serious with politics!! my advise for him is if he is serious with politics let him go back home so that he can be in touch with the people!!!

  32. LPM has clearly shown us that one can never win through corruption. Why do we Zambians want to bring into office great manipulators lika Sata into state house. Come on, Lets rewind events or are we of short memory

  33. #39 I agree with u.Anyone who had a heart attack in the recent past is OUT….not eligible for presidency at all.Lets go for HH,young and healthy..fresh Ideas. The only reason why KK also survived 27 years was because he started young..and he was vegetarian!

  34. #37 if you coulnt get QFM try upgrading your system to something better i have spent all afternoon or day should i say listerning to qfm and phoenix fm online thru itunes. I pesonaly think technology is a little beyond you coz even if it didnt work for you i am sure you could have found other means i treid it several times myself

  35. ba chirwa…ikalenifye bamudala…retire gracefully and enjoy your money! african politics ya chabe!! in any case, you dont have to be in power to make a difference, to help uplift the nation out of poverty! prof has not done much for zed in the past…when will he start? when he is president?

  36. 46. buka she know protocole. She dosent have to do a course, by viture of visting with outher heads of state she can have experience. Any way you seem not to want to vote for a woman.

  37. # 50 mule.
You do not know what you are talking about. It is true, internet acsses has reached the masses.
Have u heard the one of Vera in state hse when FJT was housting a dinner for foreigne delegates..
While sitting at the table with vera , FJT notices something odd with Vera so he says “laddies and gentlemen its coustomary to pray in our language befor a meal. So he starts “Iwe Vera iwe weinsebanya, spuunu iyo yapa last…”

  38. #50 u must be mad,who do you think can vote for that crap called vera, she is just an MP,cos of LPM,Now that LPM is dead thats the end of her political career, she is a prostitute who used to go out with that late man called harchi, she was even draged to court for that.moreover she is too dull to be a leader u fool, zambians cant vote for a woman cos they are weak especially if they are single

  39. #14 its people like you who vote for uneducated people.. yea we love vera but that woman has no idea what so ever to lead a nation!!! lets be real.. what good has she done on her ministerial position?..she is a good loving woman i respect her for that but vera for Presido? NO NO NO OHHHHNO!!!!!

    stop smoking havanna cuban!!!

  40. Chirwa pack your brief case and go. if you truly think you can lead Zambia why not in a time of need? Scared of not making in three years? Oh maybe because this term is only three years and you want ten? If you can’t stand now then we can’t see why you should stand in 2011. For all Zambia’s take Chirwa off your presidential list he just proves that he is ambitious can’t stand the pressure. he has just has uniformed zeal

  41. In addition to #27- Miombo contract to supply fert will come to end. Maureen was the ‘man’ behind the awarding of all those contracts to Miombo….

  42. PRO CHIRWA.. BA MUDALA STAY WERE U ARE DONT EVEN COME IN 2011 WE ARE OK WITHOUT U BA SIR.. U WANNA COME LEAD A NATION WHEN U DONT EVEN KNOW WHATS REALLY GOING ON DEEPLY IN ZAMBIA..WHEN THE LAST TIME U WENT TO GARDEN AND SAW WHAT THE PEOPLE REALLY WANT? WHEN THE LAST TIME U WENT TO MANDEVU AND SAW PEOPLE SUFFERING ? WHEN THE LAST TIME U SAW PEOPLE IN KALINGALIMGA CRYING KIDS DYING FOR FOOD? STAY IN LONDON OR IS IT CHINE WERE.. U JUST READ THE PAPER AND THINK OUT GOVERNMENT AIT DOING ENOUGH..BA MUDALA U MAKE ME SICK AND MAD!!! WE AINT MAD AT U FOR MAKING THAT LOOP IN LONDON DO U..BUT DONT THINK ZAMBIANS ARE *****S JUST BECAUSE MWAFUMA KUKALALE ATI WE WILL VOTE FOR U IYOOOOO!!!!!

  43. 37# You can have QFM,RADIO PHOENIX, RADIO4 AND RADIO 1 ONLINE. Am not sure about Tv ZED. I haven’t tried.
Professor Chilwa is right in life we set goals and follow them to archieve. If 2011 that’s his vision He will succceed.

  44. This coming election will show how zambians think. How cheap we can be. we do things based on rubbish and not whats on the ground. Ba sata please go out into the rural and tell the people you have the answer to their problems. Lets not lose an easy election based on a technicality called rural voters. Sata and HH together will show MMD the door. Can you people agree and we kick their back side. I have found my voters card. this is good!

  45. Ba # 57 i dont know about the others but am getting Q-FM online right now. They covered the return of LPM’s body very well today. Go to coppernet.zm and then click on their link.

  46. Why azivuta namoyo Chirwa? He does not know or understand Zambian politics that engineering lecturer. Mulekeni he will get a rude shock after all they will just eat all his billions of Kwacha. Others have tried before and have failed. problem, he is a loud mouth!!

  47. #47 for sure we need fresh meat with fresh blood n hence served as fresh food for a healthy people. Come on guys H.H. is the way forward…… viva H.H.!

  48. Mr Pachulu #60 am gettin all the stations I have Listed on 57.
You can ascess them the way you can get QFM. Thank you

  49. Prof Chirwa like any Zambian is free to contest for any position. It is pathetic that little minds start insulting him. For what? For declaring his intentions for presidency? It is pathetic how small minds think. I just don’t understand why kill one another! Can you people opposed to him stand? Great minds discuss ideas.

  50. Am for Chirwa, living abroad does not disqualify one to lead his country.I have been living abroad for the past 14 yrs but my heart is always back home and i love Zambia than any other.Exposure is also important. Talk of LPM,Sata this are guys who also studied abroad and you can only give back To Zambia what you have learnt out side Zambia, has the saying goes ,UMWANA ASHENDA ATASHA NGI’NA UKU NAYA UBWALI,further more Thabo Mbeki was not in south Africa all his adult life but he was giving the opportunity by a great man Mandela to take over and so will be Jacob Zuma.Prof Chirwa is a very successful man in his own way and to give back some is a great honour.Equal right for every Zambian.

  51. Nomba mwalasabailafye Vera eo muchite float 4 presido.. do u know what u are talking about she is useless except maybe in bed!!!!!!

  52. Let me see!!! ba Sata is good but he is sick!! what about if Lubinda is put!!!? am afraid he is not stable,he can’t stand the pressure!!!MMD nkutasola,tekwesha,osayesa-its a bunch of thieves!!! SO We only remain with HH!!! He is our only hope!!!!!

  53. all you aganist Vera for plot 1 are just jealous of her achivements. She has done miracles for Ndola let me tell you.
The Zambians will decide. And if vera puts her name i asure you you will be dissapointed you full of jealousy guys.

  54. Prof Chirwa, comeon say something else, first you can only vie for a position in MMD if you have been a member for over 3 years, that is what I heard when the late LPM was disqualifying, you, Listen Ba Chirwa, we love you prof for the articles in the Sunday post telling us of new cars that as you know only 2% of Zambia’s working class can afford and telling us off when you came that only 5% of the vehicles on Zambia’s roads are roadworthy yet fwe banenu this same second hand vehicles have been putting food on our tables, we are scared of what you will do to us who operate bakazizi!! So continue being in the academia Prof.

  55. #68 you are right equal right for all Zambians but you can not just jump from Europe to State house in that you don’t really understand what is happening on the actual ground!!! i also live abroad but when i will feel like getting into public office i have to go back home!!!

  56. #70 if she was good in bed inga tabamupampula kuli chi Regina, elo ngufwa ati Kamudala kalitemwa e nani nani…

  57. #77 Buka wabuka? Anyhow I attended his forum and for sure he had first world solutions for this third world country. So he might want to think again before offering his services if i were him.

  58. #79 Yes Mwiinga, i understand the mood has been so solemnly calm in lusaka; people on great east road weeping uncontrollably today as the demised levy was was being trailed.

  59. Please ba Zedi, Lets take these by elections serious don’t ever make a mistake by voting for the person just because such a one is famous,no!Nabalula kalilo bakateka noma.Im suprise to hear even in MMD people are making noise about their presidential ambitions whilst the body of our beloved is waiting for our last respect.Twipanga mistake ukusala bamukukulu bakesa mulila amasuku pamutwe.Salapuka mwana Zedi mwandi.Sunga money yobe Chirwa mwandi walasapula. Ni pa Zedi.

  60. Dan, I took a drive into town around 11:30 after leaving show grounds area at around 9:30 hours, I should say, the number of cars wit lights on was a little higher today, town was quiet, this is a saturday at the end of the month, ordinarily if you ventured into town you would be assured to spend 3 hours in traffic, I spent 15 minutes, most of the shops were closed, you could see the amount of shock and some people were wearing t-shirts with HE on their chest. Yes reports are that people had lined up GER from the airport up to Mulungushi CC, it is a difficult tym and we shall keep you updated on what is happening in the best way possible, but the mood is somber.

  61. #72 mule,it seems u r a relative of vera,we dont need women to rule us,call me sexes yes,i dont care but no woman will ever be preident in zambia, learn a lesson from hillary clinton

  62. now the task force must visit maureen and check if she is hinding any money from her late’husband’

  63. What a great joy to be able to listen to all major Zambian radio station again. Hats off to Coppernet.zm for making it possible, I hope its not only for LPM funeral period.

  64. #82 Mwiinga, please enlighten me on Caristo Chitafya’s unprecedented interview with the French pilots. What exactly were his questions? He’s been terribly lacerated by bloggers as a villager from Chilubi.

  65. I keep on saying bloggers on this blog are naive politically coz u cnt read the political game & turn of events in 84days frm now.Maybe its bcoz u are abroad.Truth of the matter is HH stands 60% chance of goin 2 plot 1 this time around more tha any1 else,we are on the ground.

  66. Hamanjanji #87, the man atleast those that I heard, he asked a question like so how many of such flights have you done? As a journalist one would have done some background of how many heads of states have died in France; Secondly he asked, how different this flight was from their regular flights? Something along those lines, at the end of the day he just came out like a typical zambian journalist, no researh, actually he shouldn’t have asked the questions in the first place, a simple thank you and a little profile of each of them would have sufficed.

  67. Mwaiche # 48 chi pachulu nechinobe chi # 57 victoria fall namu solver baiche nakuno ku Japan nomba tuleufwafye inimbo shachili lishi isho balefwampula pa radio 4, radio 1, qfm phoenix etc. Guys follow advice yabaiche pakweba iti tuloshe bwino. Thanks bakapala.

  68. #74 If that is how he portrays himself, then we have cause to worry. It seems though that a good number of people want him to stand. Enlighten me please. When did he come on the scene?

  69. #90 From what I know the man is air force pilot and has probably flown corpse of soldiers. However even if caristo had the exact number of the heads of state that have died in France it would have been foolish for him to conclude that the same pilot flew all of them to their respective countries. Surely, there was some credit in the question. Caristo wouldnt have known how the man felt about it without asking him. He probably felt honoured (and maybe thats what caristo was looking for).Or maybe he was trying to check pilot’s CV and perharps to see if LPM was flown by the best (not that it matters) but am sure to the grieving Zambians any respect given to LPM in any form is definitely welcome

  70. #95 Aliyah bushe nabucha uko uli, ifwe kuno ni midnight, anyhow, for me Professor Chirwa has solutions alright but this are classic World Bank theories. I personally just came to know about the gentleman mid last year when he was making a bit of noise in the house and the Post being what they are gave him all the coverage which I think was undue. He had solutions for everything, transport, road networks, mostly infrastructure and he gave a profile of his CV and met with HH, Sata (I think) and HE (I think) but really he has a long way to go, he came to announce that he wanted to stand for MMD President and if my memory is right actually became a member of the MMD, that is when LPM issued a…

  71. contd 97… statement on who qualified to first just be a presidential aspirant in MMD and basically he was written off. The problem I have with our learned prof is that he is way too much into science which is exact that he thinks even politics is an exact science, and that does not sell in these parts of the world. Chirwa will not connect with my grandmother who will ask him basic questions about how he should re-introduce CUSA and cooperatives which were a bedrock. He spoke very strongly against these second hand japanese vehicles which have somewhat made mobility an easy function in this country. Most SMEs and even big companies rely on these vehicles. All in all he spoke about transport

  72. #95 Astro physicist and as far as I know it only goes up to BSc level at UNZA not to mention that there isnt any competitive research that engage the man fully. It would work negatively against him, lets face it for he would lose most of his skills.

  73. #96, maybe somethings were too obvious that is wha infuriated everybody, one answer I remember before the Captain answered he said “we are airforce personnel and we do this all the time”, the exact meaning of this statement I do not know what it implies and I do not want to speculate.

  74. #100, Politics then would make it worse, could he be more useful as special advisor to the President under the auspicies of the Zambia International Business Advosory Council (ZIBAC) as he would be special advisor on science and motion science aka transport and infrastructure?

  75. Hola 103 hai, so since we are not there yet, this guy is a genius no doubt, but would he be useful in a political office?

  76. #Ah Mwiinga do you believe in suddenlies?I was watching Obama’s Biography this afternoon and it was amazing to see where he has come from. How he beat all these political giants is unbelievable!Life has got a way of evening scores. It was also interesting to see his half brother who lives in the slams of Nairobi.
The only thing I have against prof Chirwa is that he seems too deep to appeal to the commoners.

  77. #106, inga iwe? Hola #105 I also watched something when he was introducing Biden and how Biden spoke so well about him on CNN Revealed just around 21:00 hours here. That is a guy who has defied odds and spoke TO people not AT people. You see when you speak to people, it means they actually see a lot of similarities between what they are experiencing and what you experienced and as such could easily accept you as one of their own. This is why Obama sold so easily and this is the kind of thing Sata has which Chirwa and HH do not have. The only difference between Sata and Obama is that Obama speaks with sincerity and Sata does not.

  78. Have some sense, emberace people who are coming back from abroad and want to lead because they have learnt a lot of things and remember, Professor isn’t the only person you will see, there will be more to come because Zambians love Zambia. You don’t right off your family members just because they were abroad and have come back. Zambia will need people who have always lived in Zambia and those who lived in powerful developed nations. Trust me, when people live in the developed countries they learn a lot of things . Forgive them if you feel they ran from problems and accept them as your brothers and sisters and together become a powerful force. United people are unstoppable, universal law.

  79. #109, precisely, for one to be useful he does not always have to be a President of a country, read my comment on #102, where I think Prof would be more useful, actually for me I am looking at a day when all Zambians in the diaspora will contribute to this country’s forward movement irrespective of whether they are here or outside. I had a lecturer Dr Nyirenda he is now with UCT in RSA, he designed a transportation model for ZCCM when he was at Kalulushi Technical Services Division of ZCCM which they used until Kafupi started unbundling the mines, so this is the kind of function we could utilise Prof’s services

  80. Na…night Mwiinga.
Sata in my opnion has had the opportunity to serve already. And again his support of Mugabe is a little bit dodgy.
#109 I totally agree. We have had more opportunities than we could have had in Zambia. It’s only a matter of time and we will be going home-no place like home.

  81. Good point Mwiinga, people could be useful in many areas and you are one hundred percent right but people should not be opposed to stand for presidency and people should not think they are the only ones who can president just because they lived abroad, my main point is that people going back home should not be opposed and be looked down on just because they lived abroad and people abroad should not think Zambians are stupid, there has to be balance and people should be free to participate in any field and area they think they will be effective and effecient in and will leave mark that can’t be erased. Your points in 102 and 110 are great and we need people like this sharing more on this site

  82. #110. Great point. People like Poff Chirwa with all the expeireince he has in his feild he could help the country in other potfolios.

Good to hear you mention Kalulushi. I am a product from there!

  83. Don´t let the man HH down this time around. He can only take the three yrs in office for one to prove himself. Is it true after three yrs,we having another general election going on?For change,we don´t need them expired politricks minded leaders.Freash and young ideas will take Zambia to high levels on the world map.
Hoping though that the votes will tell…gov´ts of national unity are a worst of time……doesn´t look like a democracy for i.It is indeed with great deep emmotions to have lost LPM.In respect of his vission he held for Zambia……Mr gov´t no rigging plz.

  84. #97&98 Mwiinga and many others greatly appreciate insight on Prof. Yes actually nabuca kale, its 9 hrs ahead.

  85. I think Chirwa has got it all wrong. If MMD wins the presidential bye elections, Chirwa will not have slimmest chance of winning MMD presidency from whoever will be the leader. He should have floated his name now to show seriouness because there is vacancy and if picked the chance of winning is very high. The Late LPM was called from his bed to be MMD candidate and he accepted.Chirwa seems to be fixed on 2011 and he will be very disappointed because no one will pay attention to him by that time. A person to succeed in life must be flexible and ready to try new ideas, that is the way the Japanese prospered. Chirwa has got it wrong and those who support him must tell him to retract his

  86. (cotd) statement and tell the nation people have told him to be a candidate. The campaign for an MMD candidate will be very easy “to continue with the Mwanawsa legacy.” What is Chirwa fearing? MMD need an outsider like him to win. If they attempt to float a candidate from those in cabinet who has been supporting increment of their salaries and benefits, Sata and HH will just massacre him/her politically. On the forum I told you that when LPM dies will shall all be told and it has happened. Others were calling for his pictiures from bedside and I said he is entitled to privacy. It is better for MMD to reject him than chickening out all together. Magande can not win presidential elections

  87. (contd)because even if the economy is said to be improving the common man is suffering more. Zambia has the highest fuel prices in the region and it is pushing the costs of everything up. He has failed to study the situation of having cheaper fuel. Yes cost of fuel is going up everywhere but why is it the highest in Zambia. Do not talk about being landlocked because Malawi is landlocked too. I am out of point, friends of Chirwa tell him to contest now or else he will be doomed politically.

  88. On Magande again the cost of fertilisers has trebled in a period of one year. Which foolish farmer is going to give him a vote? Remember Nitogen Chemicals is rotting because Magande has no use for it.

  89. I think Chirwa is an Engineer by profession. He has been based in the UK for several years and he seems to have worked hard to achieve alot academically, as I believe he has come up with various inventions. Is he now based in Zambia? I’m not sure however if he has had any experience in politics. Whether he runs for Plot 1 or not in 2011, as a Zambian he should strive to use his knowledge to contribute towards the development of Zambia. There are so many ways he can use his Engineering skills to come up with inventions that will help ordinary Zambians.

  90. Another Political blunder in a series that we have seen and yet to see from the prof. Yes MMD cannot adopt him but if he is really serious he has to make a go for it.

  91. Good Thought Prof. Chirwa.

I think Caleb Should be adopted, though there are alot in MMD that might not want Caleb but it would be for the good of the country. This is what i came across Caleb and i quote:
“Dr. Fundanga passionately – though in his usual corporate calmness – explained how government can in fact make more money if they radically lowered the taxes in all sectors, a principle that is so simple that even Michael Sata has understood it (Mr. Sata’s only problem is that he also promises to begin by giving a lot of “free” things to people, which would make it logically impossible to reduce taxes, especially if the “free” things begin coming within 90 days!)” end of quote

  92. Stop praising the proffesor
He should say the truth that
he doesnt qualify anyway to be adopted
He was only going to qualify iun 2010
    The man is FAKE

    HH FOR THE PRESIDENCY

  93. Chirwa Tumbuka + HH Tonga ,to rule Zambia? It wil be a milestone for our country. Truth be told I do not see it in this day and age!! There is a lot of tribal venom which people do not talk about. It is like living in the US and Race.

  94. Looking at the way Prof.Chirwa started i dont see himn having a chance to ever be a president in Zambia. Some earlier on th blog said he is in Zambia right now.He could be in Zambia for the funeral and possibly a holiday look again at the head line and others. Its said U.K based. He stays in the U.K.Let him continue to day dream ablout plot one.If he wants to win let him go and stay in Zambia may be Lecturer at UNZA or if he has money let him build his own university and do other development projects then we could start thinking as to Whether we can vote for him or not.Otherwise for no his just a dreamer.Sata will most likely win he know the job and has experience.

  95. People make me to wonder whenever their commiting fallacies on this blog and elsewhere. They keep on saying SATA has a health problem. He only got sick once that does not mean he has a health problem. If you get sick of Flu and you are then cured does it mean you are still suffering from Flu and that you have a health problem. Its only once, you cannt generalise.

  96. Prof. Chirwa is not ready – not even for 2011. As for those vyng for presidency in the by-election, let them do so. We still need a president between now and 2011.

  97. #133. How can you compare Flu to a minor stroke. Bane let us do a little thinking b 4 we put our opinions accross. When did you hear of some one being evacuted becoz they had flu?

  98. I don’t agree with Bangi that anyone who has had an attack in the recent past should not be elected. As a matter of fact, sata is the only mature and credible man to elect at the moment. If no sata no president.HH is still young with young ideas, he still has to be molded into this world of politics. The position of president is a position we can’t put someone for experimenting. Lets choose a man we know will deliver.

  99. #133 Trigo..Listen to your comparison: Flu and heart attack?? Its like u are comparing HIV/AIDS to a sore throat. Both are illnesses but one is more severe than the other. There is no cure for a heart attack, when u suffer from one the probability that u will suffer from another one is 1.

Health should now be one of the criterion we should use to elect. This role of presidency is very stressful and one needs to be ready for it.Can u imagine what would have happened had we selected sick Mazoka….then Mwanawasa, then Sata..we would have a roll of caskets every 5 years.Gather your facts and think straight.

  100. #137. Sata was selling the country to the Taiwans when he was kicked out of Malawi. Do you call this behavior credible? He lost his passport in England with out reporting to the police over there and he was caught in a web of lies do you consider this as mature behavoir. What fool in this day and age would carry $30,000 pin USD cash into a country? He did it from SA and the cash was confisticated.
Trouble looms all over this guy if people like you elect him u will be asking for trouble!
Miyanda in my opinnion is the man scandle free and stroke free !!

  101. i like Sata.but if you will vote for him and then die of stroke after a few days in office, then instead of cryin i will laugh @ you shallow minded voter. the dude sick please no anyother state funeralna mi papata. learn to have a wider vision.

  102. 140. Mbuzi
Miyanda is a chancer. During FJTs 3 rd term bid, he was caught on camera saying anyone who opposed the 3rd term would be castrated. Only when he realised that FJT would give him nothing and to the end he realised the nation was not having it did he resign.
Sata wants to forgive all plunders and is not mentally sound, he is a hot head with suspect health and was a bemused spectator who was enjoying watching when FJT was plundering. He has said nothing against the plunder.
HH is the only one who i will vote for.

  103. Ba General Miyanda I would also suggest he would be a great choice for presidence, but with his Heritage party he has no chance at all. I really wonder if MMD would like to adopt him though they had tried to bring him back earlier and due to his stubborness he refused. At the moment he is the only sound and mature man who can lead the country. At least the man has some good record!

  104. since after jumping on the “no 3rd term” bandwagon, Miyanda has been a failed business man. Everything in busniness he has tried did and does not work, what makes you think he can run a country if he failed to run a bussiness ?

  105. A country is not a business.Business about making profit.Running a country is about meeting the needs of the people and lifting them out of poverty – something that even LPM said he had failed to do.We need a man of principles, one who is going to take over from where LPM has left, and the Brigadier is just that one peerson!

  106. Forget the Brig General. He is a stubborn militaristic impractical loner who can very easily get drunk with power. Besides what vision does he have? VILLAGE CONCEPT!! in 21ST Century? My foot!!

  107. Of course running a country is like and much more than running a bussiness. PLM run a sucsesfull practice. Running a country you should know how to make money for the country. You can just go and give pipo free things and be “meeting the needs of the pipo”. I hope not all voters think like you and and actually put some kind of passmark on who they vote for not complete failures, just because he says he cares, we need track records, or good CVs.
Miyanda can not get no MD job with any reputable company and yet hes ok to run the country, God help us

  108. #145 Miyanda would be a dictator because of his military background.Sooner or later we will be like Zim.The best is HH

  109. #147. Think man . To run a sound business you need capital. Do you need the same for being president? You are not making sense in business you are out to make a profit in public office your are serving the people mostly based on decisions. Have you ever heard Miyanda defaulting on a loan like the succesful business men you have like Kavindele?

Name a good business man who has made a good president. Pushi iwe uletotonkanya b 4 ukuwabta!!

  110. ine i dont understand what these guys meant all the time they reported that the condition was stable..what did they mean?they never told us that it was deteriorating…

Stable means maintaining equlibrium…nomba how did he die?? They should have reported the truth from start…not stable stable stable…

  111. I’ve heard about this village concept. I think it has to do with developing all areas of Zambia including rural areas around selected hubs. I’m not too sure about how this concept would position the country at regional and international level. I’m not too sure how it works.

  112. Gentlemen,
Even as you make your posts think! Did Chiluba have a business or an MBA when he was taking over the reigns of power? We all know that Chiluba’s first term was as good as it could get under the circumstances.LPM built on what FTJ had started – apart from ravaging the public coffers these guys really wanted Zambia to move forward.Besides,LPM himself had wanted to pass the mantle on to the general, i must say the man knew what Miyanda is capable of…….

  113. #153…u are the one who is bwataling without thinking.what is the common denominator of being a businessman and being a president?? its LEADERSHIP…A person who can manage his fame and fortune well cannot fail to lead a nation.Everything circles around money so its the same principle to be applied but in different environments. This time instead,HH will be thinking in terms of street kids, fuel prices, dollar rate..which is the same principal he uses when governing his own resources.

  114. Village concept is plagiarised UJAAMA of late Nyerere of Tanzania. And we all know the damage that UJAAMA did to Tanzania. The General is a former coup plotter. I wouldnt trust a coup plotter no matter how much he profess reform. And as highligted that man can very easily become a dictator. Ask the soldiers in Zambia Army that worked under him at Chindwin or is it Kohima barracks in Kabwe. The will give you the side that you dont see on TV interviews and newspaper articles. That man can be lethal with power.

  115. #149. I was once a fan of Brigadier untill the last elections when i saw that the man was actually in the race to provide some competition. He does’nt seem to have passion for this high position. He was suggesting that instead of giving meal allowances to university students, they should be made to go and cultivate the land in their respective villages and earn money which they should use when they go back to school.Where on earth could someone introduce such a policy and you expect to improve the education fraternity in zambia? Despite the mess that you talk about Sata,he still has a passion for this country-not just for prestige but i think he is a man who can command and gets things done.

  116. Someone has said that Miyanda has been unsuccessful in business therefore he cannot run a country. Yet unfortunately some of those people who we admire as being successful businessmen/women have come about their wealth through dishonest means.

  117. The job of Veep needs a young man who can be groomed to take over.Chaps like Edify Hamukale or whatever his name is.Chaps like Given Lubinda (Although too loud mouthed). But really mean is we need a mixture of old and yooung , experience and zeal. That will bring a balance.Imagine LPM was 60 and RB is 72!LPM was definitely not preparing him for the Presidency!Sata and HH are a blend of that experience and Zeal.

  118. Honesty is important. Unfortunately it is not the driving force nor the KEY SUCCESS FACTOR in running instuitions and govt.Dont get me wrong I do not condone dipping ones fingers in the till.

  119. Ya! I tel you I cant wait to see what MMD will do now! The next couple of months will be very interesting indeed! Teta gave a very good suggestion and they were all up in arms, now lets wait and see how they will all start sctrambling for power!Am sure Katele is setting up camp in some spiderhole somewhere with all his sophisticated software and hardware!

  120. 158 bangi, thank you.
How can one reason that a person who has failed to run a business can run a country. If you do not know how to manege public funds and make the country rich thru sound bussniness like descisions, how do we get out of poverty. Public funds are not inexustable ! If you failed to make good descisions as a busness man what makes you think you can make good decisions as presido ?

  121. Miyanda is a finished politician. No one even knows where he is!Besides, a man as stubborn as him will just ruin this country.Rememebr how he utterly refused to be LPM’s chosen successor? Reason? Pride and mere stubbornness. We dont need such elements.
Yes Sata yaps alot and is aged, but 3yrs can get him to kick start things here and there…..maybe just maybe Sata.

  122. #162 i totally agree with you…sata for presidency he wud be good at displinary of the country at large and getting things really done,,,hh wud be good for the economy!!! these two shud join forces

  123. #168 Yes a pact for sata to do three years remaining in late LPM term of office and HH to take over the reigns in 2011 would do wonders for mother Zambia.

  124. Sata delivers its true. As Minister he did a couple of good things like overseeing the construction of the flyover bridge in Lusaka near Zesco. I’m not sure but I think he also had something to do with the Njanji Commuter train. What even happened to that train? Despite these things, unfortunately Sata is not the most diplomatic person so I have doubts about whether he can make it to Plot 1. He has also had past health issues.

  125. I still think Miyanda would be the right candidate at this juncture.Unless MMD float credible people like Pande, Mutati,Chituwo etc.Sata would be a reincarnation of the Chiluba regime. In the recent past HH has has appeared to be very power hungry.I remember how he went on Radio Phoenix about how he adopted a mother in Nchelenge and how he was helping her and her children, he went on about how he helped an UNZA student who was shot, and so on.Like someone who was helping just to be recognised.Iam afraid the cheap politics of yesteryear have rubbed on to him.

  126. Its sad that Zambians we forget so easily. Lets flash back and ask ourselves why LPM resigned from the Chiluba administration. CORRUPTION.And in his resignation letter which was widely published in all the papers which minister did he name as the most indisciplined and corrupt whom he recommended to the president(FTJ) to discipline? ONE MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA.I find it hard to accept sata for presidency and cant just imagine what he get done.Sata serious lacks discipline and is very corrupt. The type of administration he exhibited at the MOH left fatal effects elsewhere thats why he was removed. He would solve one problem and create another eg he bought uniforms for nurses using drugs money.

  127. I honestly think Sata has no place in the current politics of the country as he belongs to yesterday. I know very little about HH except that he still needs more tune up. I think MIYANDA is the man

  128. Late Mazoka spent sleepless nights trying to get Sata on his side but sata was stubborn for presidency. When Mazoka died, Sata must have been regretting the decision not join hands with Mazoka as he would probably been the successor. HH may pass a similar chance by not accepting to be Sata’s vice; after Sata is an old man with health issues as #170 has pointed out. No illwish intended for Sata, but just strategic thinking.

  129. We need a credible leader. He or She should be honest: selfless: educated: have a stong character: understand domestic issues and sympathize with the plight of Zambians with the aim of raising living standards for all: and be diplomatic and able to get along well with all our neighbors as well as the wider regional and international community.

  130. People lets not argue about sata’s credibility unless the word has changed meaning there is no trace whatsoever of credibility in sata.sata just wants to actualise and steal some more thats all. he would worse than FTJ. We dont want a president who would go and quarrel with a primary school teacher and fire a clinical officer do you among other things.

  131. Tongas have been stigmatised so much that when one will becomes president he/she may end up marginalizing the Tongas to prove that they are not tribal. this alone is a negative which Tonga would not want. We are doing just fine without having a president from kumusanza. my advise to all Tonga tribes is to continue working hard, smart and start preparing for hard times ahead as we are now becoming the most hated tribe by those scared of our prudence and honesty. they steal but they never prosper beyond their expectations. Please gather yourself ,corporate, be aware of those who want to befriend you just for the sake of it to disadvantage you.when unity is meaningless find other solutions

  132. Miyanda had a company logging zambian mukwa hard wood for export. After all the trees were finished near namwala were his company was he started pettioning for logging on GRZ protected forests. He petitioned very hard despite being told Zambia cannot afford to have all its forests depleted. Only a minister saved the protected forest.

  133. #178 you sound so disheartened. Before being a Tonga you are a Zambian. Do not feel so marginalized. Once we start to bring tribalism into the mix it will be a sad day. By the way, many non-Tongas are spporters of HH.

  134. Unfortunately majority voters; marketeers, kaponyas, villagers do think about credibility, diplomacy honesty etc. It is bloggers that think like that. Most Bloggers wont even go to the polling station on voting day. The will be busy blogging or working, taking their families out etc. Out there it is numbers that matter. Currently,MMD is the only party with national constituency but one wonders whether this will continue to hold in the next few months. Oppostion parties need to coaliase if the hope to turn the tables on MMD. UPND needs to to know that the cannot do it alone & PF need to to know they will need a rainbow coalition to win.You dont need to be a statitiscian to work this one out

  135. Correction:Unfortunately majority voters; marketeers, kaponyas, villagers dont think about credibility, diplomacy honesty etc.

  136. MMD members we were told not onLY on one occassion BY our late President Dr Mwanawansa that he the President was grooming somebody and that he just never wanted to make the name of the Person public.its time to find who this person is first am sure there is enough data.Teta has been in the forefront supporting the salary increament of Ministers and chap is not even a government spokesman meaning whoever Teta will support will increase the ministers salaries. At one point our President said his successor will be a farmer.its time to dig deeper guyz and not speculate or else we ill sell our country to people like katubi or katebe katoto the chungus etc.Mugabe will definately support Sata

  137. Mwe bauntu tamwaba na cisuma. If the prof. had contested, he would have been labelled “Power hungry”, now that he says he will not contest, ati “he’s a coward”. Kanshi what can one do to satisfy a Zambian person called umuntu???

  138. #178 GK, am not a Tonga but am a zambian of another tribe. Please, you should understand that as long as we have trouble lines separating us, then we shall never get it right. We saw it in kenya recently, Rwanda some time back. Its there in countries like SA (Zuma vs Mbeki thing). I have worked with Tongas before and I never look at them differently from other people. Personally, I think HH deserves it this time. The guy has the CV it takes. Dont mention experience (The world’s most powerful country is putting some inexperienced african in office, tell me they are foolish…). Its the history of someone that should tell you something. HH is young but very successful.

  139. Hi fellow bloggers it sad that the majority of you think MMD is going out of power. That will not happen because we are adopting RB as a presidential canadiate and for continuity seek let RB handle the matters of the nation since he is the one who has worked with our beloved late president Dr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa SC.

  140. Asibweni,
I am tumbuka, my wife is tonga. The important thing in our house is love.Second Zambian.Look, leadership has nothing to do with tribe.I support HH, my wife doesnt. So this issue with tribe will just lead this country nowhere.Tumbukas are a smaller tribe compred to the tongas, but do we feel marginalized? no.ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. (One party , ……..hehehe)

  141. Luckson-Lusaka #189.
RB doesnt even qualify to hold the office of president in Zambia. He was born in Gwandam, Southern Rhodesia.Besides, does he even have an MMD memebrship card? It appears to me even though you are MMD you know nothing about the happenings in your party.LPM(MHSRIP)only spared RB from the sack when he was leaving because he (RB) had a funeral. He was mourning his mother. The President would have “retired” the moment he returned from Sham al-sheikh.RB has no clout in MMD anyway!

  142. #189 if working with LPM is the major quality for presidential candidature then you know too well that LPM worked with a lot of people-all the ministers, all the PSs. If veep is the issue the list includes kavindele, lupando mwape, nevers mumba and RB of course. But are they presidential material? After all LPM is not the Gold standard against which to measure a president. Lets vote people on their own merit. RB is no presidential material please! Look further afield there are a lot of people who even understand what they would be doing like maybe Magande and many more. Continuity is important but development is even more important. We need someone who will do better than LPM not one who

  143. Dont even think it,Capt Austin Chewe(Rtd),for President?? I mwe please, lets be serious and give ba LPM a descent and intelligent successor, stop this ibbonic crap. Do you know why Chewe was fired from the army, how BY Mwila and Nobby Simbeye protected him from prosecution? We may be silent and calm but this time around im going yo bring the whole house down, and ba Austin bakamba you know that we know everything.Mwaibukisha kumunkulungwe?Do not even think it.

  144. #189 Luckson you could be right that MMD can return the seat. RB is UNIP as at now and I find it hard to see him being adopted. Thats Y there are runggles in your party. Its unfortunate that in a modern world like this, we as zambians still waste time making wrong decisions. Is it the party we are intersted in or a leader? thats where we are losing it. We want development and not blind leadership. So much is at stake and for once lets get it right this time. Put right leader in office

  145. Personally, I wouldnt mind a person like Mutati becoming presdo. Am UPND but if MMD had a leader like Mutati for president, I wouldnt mind. I am a patriotic Zedian and not a party fanatic. Its about how my country will b in 20 years to come. Guys viva 2030 vision zambia. MMD, get Mutati to rule. Look at HH. These guys have something they can offer to the country.

  146. about the veep Issue,i think LMP saw something in lupando,he liked the guy,am sure he saw that the guy is a presidential material.

  147. ALUTA CONTINUA # 190,YOU ARE SOME OF THE VERY FEW PROGRESSIVE BLOGGERS ON THE BLOCK.FOR SURE TRIBAL CRAP IS OF NUTCRACKER AGE,AND HOMO HABILIS.THIS DAMN 21 ST CENTURY,AND SOME NIMBLE MINDED CLOWNS ARE DEBATING TRIBES?? MY PAPA WAS TONGA,MY MAMA NGONI AND HUBBY IS FROM THE WESTERN PROVINCE,AND WE SHOULD SPEND TIME ON WHICH TRIBE IS THE BEST? IYE MAYO ULUSE KUBATUTU!! BAMBUTUMA IMWE!! LOOK AT EDUCATION,QUALITIES,INTERGRITY AND DIGNITY OF A CANDIDATE,OSATI CIMUTUNDU!!

  148. 196. RTD ARMY OFFICER(COMMANDO UNIT) don’t just peddle rumours.
Capt chewe as pay master made his money selling track suits to the army then went into selling other stuff to the army were he was connected.

  149. #198,Your contributionwas makin sense till you mentioned Lupando Mwape.Lupando acceeded to the Vice Presidency after LPM sacked Never “the vocalist” Mumba.Nevers was competing with the president for the spotlight thats what got him into trouble. At that point LPM wanted someone who was out of the spotlight, someone who would not compete with him, thats how Lupando came in.The chap had no qualities of a leader whatsover.Besides, he only managed to be veep because LPM wanted to appease the Luapula/Northern Coalition.
Kabinga Pande is the man for the job.Mutati is suspect and he has a lot of family tree issues.Vote Pande if you are wise!

  150. Prof.Chirwa thinks that just bcoz he lectures in uk then he can rule zed.Thats absolutely rubbish.Sungeni fye tumoney twenu mudala.

  151. Who is this same Pande? Sounds like an Indian.I’ve so amy people talk about Pande and Edify Hamukwale.Who are they?

  152. Pande is some Minister, Foreign Affairs if am not mistaken.Hamukale, i have no idea but even on ZOL i’ve seen many bloggers talking about the chap.

  153. # 1 WITH KNOLEDGE AND UNDERSTADING OF THINGS, YOU ARE BUT A FOOL IN SOCIETY AND FOR THE MATTER OF YOUR REASONING, I WILL QUESTION THE SIZE OF BRAIN.

BY-ELECTIONS ARE CONSTITUTIONAL AND WE CANNOT RUN AWAY FROM THAT. IF PRO CHIRWA DECIDES NOT TO…. ITS A PERSONAL DESCION AND NO ONE SHOULD BE BLAME. LEAVE THOSE WHO WANT TO CONTEST THIRE POSITIONS DO SO AND WE WILL VOLTE.

ANY MMD AND THEIR TRICKS OF TAKING THE BODY OF THE DEAD THROUGH OUT THE COUNTRY AS A WAY OF BUYING VOLTES WILL NOT WORK. GO OUT MMD.

MAUREEN SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR HER FALL.

  154. STOP USING THE BODY OF THE DEAD TO SPEAK FOR YOU IN TIMES OF BY-ELECTIONS. THE DEAD MAN IS WHAT PEOPLE WANTED NOT THE PART. THEREFORE BE PREPARED FOR A BIG FALL.

  155. #209 what you could have heard is true. This so called vera tembo is dating one bakili muluzi of malawi. bet the guy was eyeing her even the time he used to come for state visits. Just how did they get hooked? Guys b careful with your friends. You might just find the bugger next to you eyes your wife

  156. Off topic but true. Jimmy fingers of chita lodge in lusaka is trying to stop his wife stripping him of everything. He slept with one boys wife and the boy went and slept with fingers wife. Now she wants out with the assets which were in her name to avoid Police recovery units .

  157. I think Magande was being groomed because he was seen everywhere. I think Magande has done a good job as Minister of Finance. Pande is a Minister, he seems to be hard working, he used to work for BoZ.

Is this really true about Vera?

  158. That is why if vera becomes our president, we can also rule malawi. Think ahead, straegic. Don’t just block the her from plot 1 because she is woman of humble roots

  159. Very interesting indeed. Presdo of zambia married to presdo of malawi. ha ha ha!!!one zambia, one malawi, one nation

  160. #210 Point of correction – Vera is hitting out with Mutharica and not Bakili Muluzu. According to Malawian publications, the two are exchanging “sexy” gifts and Vera has sent alot of gifts to Mutharica including men’s pants and her own nickers. She was recently hosted at state house in Malawi. Gentlemen, this news is actually stale at the moment – are you the only Jews who’re not aware of this. Check Afric.com.

  161. Please fellow country men let us not have short memory. Please just remember the way Sata supported Chiluba’s third term. Just try to remember the way Sata engineered the expulsion of most noble and honest politicians during Chiluba’s reign? When he was dribbled by Chiluba its when he formed PF. Please, i would rather go for HH than Sata. The salary increment will haunt the MMD!!!!! Please let us VOTE wisely to develop our country.

  162. #224 but HH is is product and not even a product of bye tribalism.God Forbid. Some people here have been trying to compare obama s experience to that of HH ,countrymen dont misledd yourselves, Obama has come a long way dating back to his days at Havard University where he was the first black President at the school whilest that tribalist HH could not even afford to be a class monitor.Obama is a senator whilest that product of tribalism might not even know how government operates.Being a Manager is different from being a leader, pls the Mwingas of this world pump sense in that chap.

  163. #225 YOU, yes YOU SAME ONE! Review your statement, what you call tribalism is probably only the natural pride in our cultural identity, which other tribes do not have. Is it our fault?
Try to substantiate your arguments instead of painting all Bembas with your tribal accusations. I will refrain to answer you according to your folly, with respect to the solemn events our nation is going through. I just urge you to be wise.

  164. Sata´s tym is way gone,MMD has had it´s part……all them so called leaders who have had a chance to be up there knows and may be just out there to be in plot 1 for some personal reasons and not for the country.People with self confidence to increase there sallaries at this moment in time are actually selfish and greedy.
What has such people have for the masses who can not even manage to have a proper meal?Let your vote count wisely, don´t let them bribes fool you……i believe no politrician school you cos you know better than some radom politritians know.Free and fair elections are vital to any peaceful democractic country and hope Zambia will remain to be a good exmaple.

  165. 226. Choma1 HH is better then sata any day, 224 is right.
Sata supports the plunder, have you heard him say otherwise ?
he knows exactly what was happening.
Of all the candidates this finance minister chap, and HH are the most credible.

  166. Well we have he ball in our hands and courts. Posterity will judge as hurshly if we let Sata take us step backwards. If we can have more and more of sound reasoning and judgement in this country for once, we will see development. Neyo mungoni endorses and will surle vote for HH.Tribe to me does’nt matter. Thanks # 229 SHUSHUSHU for remembering the past.

  167. Reporting from UK, am off to some ellands. Will be pa Zed soon for elections not ”ERECTIONS’ fellow countrymen.

  168. We just need to think more than just shouting on the blog like the kaponyas at KMB.Please lets blog without mentioning tribes. We can live without tribes. We erxixt among ourselves with different tribal members at work, classroom, sports teams and have thrived. There is nothing that can stop us to thrive again with our different tribes in the service of our mother Zambia.Yes there was plunder during Chiluba’s time but its not the tribe. We as zambians were stupid because we allowed it.We hero worshiped him and he ened up taking advantage of us.But the lessons should have been learnt.we need to be on the look out. and not make the same mistake. If we had watched Chiluba with a better eye

  169. continued from 235
we would have had a better UBZ,better hospitals, mines, schools. He would have not sold all gvt companies but only those that were underachieving. Our unemployment rate would have been better.
So our next president as much as we would like him or dislike him, in democracy we need o accept him but the most important thing is to improve on our checks and balances, monitoring every gvt move and then we will succeed as a nation

  170. Ba Chills, do you know how much power the Presido pa Zed has? Those checks and balances can work with some people not all. A question for you: Do you think Sata can be checked?

  171. CHILUBA STARTED TRIBALISM BY
1-ADDRESSIBG MEETINGS IN BEMBA THIS MADE BEMBAS BIGHEADED TO SOME DEGREE IDONT MEEN TO INSULT ANYBODY JUST STATING A FACT
2-UNDER CHILUBA MOST OF THE VITAL POSTS WERE HELD BY BEMBAS E.KASONDE/NAWAKWI/KATELE-FINANCE
    B.MWILA/C.SAMPA DEFENCE
    C.SAMPA HOME AFFAIRS
    M.SATA-MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFORLIO
THEY CHASED ALL THE PIPO FROM OTHER TRIBES LIKE B.NKUMBULA, H.MULEMBA, A.WINA, AKA LEWANINA ETC

  172. People LT is not based in Zambia. It gets its news items from Zanis. Have’nt you noticed funny looking flag and coat of arms.

  173. Am not supporting Sata NOR am I sidelining the descendants of Mazoka the tongas .I dont have a problem with Magade,he is almost perfect to take over from our late President.Lets first try to find out who the Late was grooming and remember The Late Mwanawasa s dream was vision 2030

  174. # 243 you sound tribalist!!! wake up,we are not in the 90s!!! i don’t think at this time and age someone for political office should be judge on tribal grounds but by what they are capable or not!!!

  175. 234 Its the most stupid thing i have ever read on this blog. Why are you so critical of oneself.Do you feel so inferior that you feel any other nationality is better than your own.Stand up and be counted and be proud of your own country. Its all you have got.

  176. 248. Just like your name am sure you are just from sleeping. Kavindele has alredy been disected by the critics here and so he is no longer in the picture. Learn to refresh By reading all the postings so that you avoid being repetitive. I would suggest you go back to sleep mambala iwe. To much drinking kachasu is not good for you.

  177. comnan #249!!! da thing is too long and i cant trace where he(kavindele) has been be discredited!!so can you just high light for me!!?

  178. Lets face facts Prof has withdrawn from the race because he dose not qualify under the MMD constitution which states that one should be a member for two –three years minimum of which Prof is not.

Very well done in terms of PR it works well but he would not have made it into MMD’s electoral pot.

  179. hey pipo whether u like it or not MMD is winning,it doesnt matter who takes over from him,NO rigging but the chaps will win cos u guys in zambia are fools, yes u are fools cos u fear to vote for another party becos they lie to u that there going to be hunger in your country,am an american citizen though i was born in mansa, but i visit zambia every year and l know how blind you chaps are

  180. Iwe ka #253. mwansa atlanta USA you think now you are white or black american because you have a ka gringo passpo, you sell out.
It is because of sellouts like you that bugaz climb chifitas.
Dont even bother comming back to zambia, i wish those rednecks catch you and whip your black bahind like rodney king.

  181. # 253 you sound like one of these african chaps i meet around who are not proud of their countries and change their citizenship!!! let me tell you something if you are not proud of who you are and where you came from then you are stupid!!! am aboard but whatever the case am proud of my country!!!!foool!!!!!

  182. # 253,

Well said. I have been reading alot of these blogs, here and most, if not all of them are full of nosense.

These chaps have been so blindfolded by this tribalism thing that they can’t even reason sensibly. Why are you so scared of Tonga’s. Mwanawasa was Lenje, a Tonga sub-tribe…didn’t he make you proud?

No wonder you can even consider people like Sata..old, finished stinking politician.

Since i no longer have any family in Zambia, not even extended, i pray that the country goes to war so that you guys can shibuka. You are too sleepy!

  183. u fools am not even a black man nor mixed race, both my parents are white, its only that wen my parents divorced my mom married a zambian man, thats how i got that name,am not zambian and never will be ,iv got busines in copperbelt supplying the mine cos u chaps are lazy and cant do anything apart from drinking beer in bars

  184. #259 I doubt very much if what you say is true, but nonetheless, can we stick to constructive criticism and not derogatory remarks. If you are not aware of the situation in Zambia please refrain from making absurd comments.

  185. #259 Come on, everyone can read between lines that you’re just making up the story about being white. It’s easy to tell that you’re black – very dark indeed chikamba iwe – be proud of it. What business with the mines, wishful thinking chambwiidi yebo. Who taught you to hate yourself and your kin? What a waste. Careful my boy least the gods lay a curse on you for renouncing your black parents mpombo wa mpombo iwe.

  187. #257. Please stop insulting the judgement of Zambians back home. Your stay in USA does not make you a better place Zezian to insult the Zambians. Just survive on your left overs there.

  188. cos i can speak bemba, most of my step family here speak bemba, and they dont like zambia cos of people like julious,i read a lot about zambia,am interested in zambian politics cos i have a business in zambia which can be affected by the change of GVT,am just trying to educate u chaps that change is needed for your country,i employ a number of zambians so i know what am talking about,i dont care whether u dont believe who i am but get my point and vote out the MMD,doing so will bring developmt in your country,do u even know how much money your country make on copper yet u r still poor?wake up

  189. # 258. Winnie the pooh -good ridence to bad rubbish. We don’t need wanabes like you in zambia or supporting zambia. You must look like pooh.
Alot of the tribal sliging is just banter you *****. Have you heard how bembas and the pipo from chipata who finished all the rats fool each other ? At the end of the day we live together.
These silly wanabes like these 2 above who think now they live abroad they are more civalised then other zambians and want the lot of us to behaive like the pipo in the countries were they are licking ass just make me sick.

  190. hey guys this mwansa i know him,he lives is USA,but runs a big company in kitwe and a car hire in lusaka,he is very popular in kitwe,he is a white man only about 29,but he speaks bemba cos he grew up in kitwe,he is a very rich guy

  191. My view is that if MMD chooses from the following bunch they are bound to win the elections i.e Brian Chituwo, Magande,Mutati. One person who should not forget is Nevers Mumba. Nevers is still a member of MMD and he might just bounce back during the convention..Nevers will be easy to sell to the people because of his “charisma”.

  192. #267. mwansa atlanta USA AND # 271. mp kantanshi mufurila
Are one and the same *****. Analyse his posts identical to the comas.
Now you think you are in the the USA you are more clever then us ? fool

  193. #267..get a life! Isn’t yo famous business going down as u spend yo time on lusakatimes.com?? u are more pathetic than the stroke that killed Mwanawasa. If u are really not zambian then let me tell u something: ZAMBIANs are peaceful pipo & dont need pipo like u.You must be leading a very boring life and that is why u have found a substitute by pretending to be what u are not.

    GET A LIFE!

  194. Why are people talking about 2011 elections? When we have elections this year (2008), next elections after that should be in 2013.

  195. Vera For President? you must be joking, ask her what she has said in parliament or ask her hwat she does in her office. Do you know her qualifications? she has a diploma in International Speaking, but from which college and when?

  196. #267 U are so pathetic, I think you should start your own blog else where and take #271 along with you. We need serious and educative comments here and not such rubbish! You need to be saved from urself!

  197. # 269,

Iwe kolwe iwe. Shouldn’t i have a perdonal opinion? Just because it does not suit you, you want to criticize me. Shut-up simazi yebo and just mind your business on this forum. If you want to make me your business, i say “bring it on” and i will shower you with unprintables, got it?

  198. Chirwa was nonentity …he’s scared of wasting his money!stay away and probably never join politics Clive cos you will regret….sata is equally saying bye soon …we need young men..

  199. Forget Chirwa, Magande, HH and Maureen. You keep writing. People who vote know what they want. This Presidency has not benefited the very poor and rural areas. Voters do not submit their comments here. So in the absence of known vote fixers like Mwanga prepare for king Cobra to win. Then we will have a government of people for the people. MMD did not win the last election. No more NEPOTISM. Its time for PF.

  200. NDF President, Ben Mwila says he will contest the forth commin presidential by-election. He says he has very high chances to win the election because all political parties had equal opportunities of winning the presidency……..(mmmmmmm doubt that very much)

  201. # 279. Winnie the pooh
unprintablesze, i will just insult you. It is you calling us stupid cos we don’t write what you whant to read from were ever you are cleaning white bums.

  202. #267 You have no right to dictate to us who to vote for or what to with our country or insults zedian you stinking race. If you ARE infestor go infest some where eles you countryless INDA human being! You sikanka pakunya! You shameless devil, KOLWE, KOSWE, CHIBWII, WE MBWAWE,SATANA MUSHIBILA INSALA, WE CHIPUWE,INDA UMBINGI BETWEEN YOUR LEGS!!!

  203. # 258. Winnie the pooh hoping that my country goes to war is just terrible. # 269 KC has all the right to insult you. We take our long lived peace in Zambia very dearley. I hope it was just a slip of the finger on your part.

  204. ndabona ncokuli nzala kubu bemba!nkaambo kakuti mbatolo alimwi balatukila kapati!banyina ciindi cakulima basokwe aaba!bukuba kwameto manyukukunyuku fela!

  205. ALL YOU BLOGGERS.MAY LPM’S SOUL REST IN PEACE.
NOW,WHY ARE WE SO SHORT SIGHTED AS NATION TO SERIOUS ISSUES,LIKE THE FORTH COMING PRESIDENTIAL BYE-ELECTIONS?WHY THE SUDDEN RUSH WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE FIRST ,AS A PEOPLE TASKED PARLIAMENT TO ENACT JUST THE 51 + 1 CLAUSE,SO WE THAT WHO EVER IS ELECTED NOW WILL HAVE THE LARGEST MANDATE FROM THE ZAMBIANS. ALREADY THERE ARE FIVE OR SIX PEOPLE VYING FOR THE SEAT,AN ABSOLUTE ADVANTAGE TO MMD.PLEASE CONSIDER SERIOUSLY THIS ISSUE BEFORE WE START HEARING OF PETITIONS COME DECEMBER.TAKE OR LEAVE IT!!

  206. 24 ChiPonyax Have a little bit of respect for women. You have just displayed your bad upbringing. How can you talk like that to someone who’s almost like your mother. What did Vera do to you to deserve that? Suppose your mother was a prostitute would you have called her names. Respect elders regardless of what they’ve done. By the way, have you ever wondered how you came about in this world? Tekunyengesha by your mother?

  207. # 283 KC,

Fo you own information, i own a multiple academic qualifications. I have two bachelors degrees and a masters degree.
I work in an office with top class consultants and my job allows me to travel all over the world.

As I am writing to you right now, i just work up in a top quality hotel in Arizona and will be flying back to Chicago tomorrow.

The last time i cleaned somebody’s bum was when my 12 years old son was a baby. Get you an education and stop whinning.

  208. Every time I read this stuff I am reminded of why I left Zed, a big country where people think small. In my opinion Zambians outside have something to offer those in Zed, I don’t mean to teach them or take over, but to help them understand how to forge forward quickly and efficiently. A country that is backward, has no respect for women, education, independent thought and selects backward leaders deserves its leaders.

My friend Chirwa should stay where he is and save himself an undue heartbreak.

    I can’t say any more.

  209. oh wake up and smell the #&&%%$$ coffee.clive chirwa is sat in the lap of luxury, jerking off.president my ass.vote for me rather. at least i have lived the zed experience.bleri joker.the day we all drive maseratis, corvettes, lamborgs etc maybe he can be president.bleri patronizing jerk.

  210. Iwe chi 21, don’t you know that sata is labeled “Best before 2010” at his back. Check your facts with morning side clinic in south africa

  211. Ba # 8 you want prof;Chirwa who is an automotive and aerospace expert to come & lecture @ Unza or CBU in a field which does not exist in Zed,come on!give the guy a break & let him go to far developed China,UK & other countries were his expertise will be properly utilized.Be analytical in yo contributions & don’t just criticize coz u hate the man.Let MMD allow this man to go 4 it come 2011,problem with Zed is poverty, infrastructur development, resource management etc,we need someone who’s seen these abnormalities to put things right.Zed can also look like the UK or any developed country if our leaders had vision & rejected mediocrity.

  212. I did’nt know that we have credible youths like Edify Hamukale. Why was he hiding all this long?
I wonder why people pretend that he deosnt exist. I watched his biography on ZNBC and on MUvi tv. Now i know there are better pipo than Sata,HH,RB, Miyanda and the whole lot. Praise God youths have a hope now. Chabe fye fyali itemwa teti fimuloleshe umu boyZ. How i wish we could have a young vice president instead of recycling old fellows. Youths arise! we are the majority and it is our time. Imiti naikula nomba kabili naiteke

  213. Edify Hamukale is too good for Zambian politics. He is too honest, too blunt, straight foward etc. Unfortunately you need a bit of lies in politics which he cant generate. I guess he should continue with his career until he learns how to lie

  214. Hamukale is different. He helped that Phiri Student from UNZA with K2m to pay tuition fees and that lady from Livingstone with a swolen leg. I agree with David Kalubulula that Edify Hamukale is too good for Zambian politics. He will be fighting corruption alone like Levy.I mean the guy has a number of career awards in agricultural commodity marketing and has his two graduate degrees under his belt but unfortunately he cant just fit in there. He has the charisma, patience, heart for the underpriviledged, experience from UNIP but he will be frustrated if he tries. I gues we continue with current political fools in circulation for now

  215. I beg to disagree with ganizani. Dont you think pipo like Edify Hamukale are the ones who can help eliminate selfishness in parliament and Cabinet? If we let crooks to to contiue ruling and recycling the VJs of this ZED, then we will never develop. We need an overhaul and someone like Edify Hamukale could be an asset

  216. Which Edify are you talking about? if it is Hamukale, they will frustrate him the moment he enters politics. You need to be a boot licker to succeed politically in Zambia which Edify is not. He is better of in the UN, COMESA, SADCC or just farming since he has a chain of qualifications in agricultre and much experience. Ni yoipa plitics yapa ZED

  217. You can certainly see your skills in the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. All the time go after your heart.
