Chadiza Women threaten to lock up council offices

Share

Some women in Chadiza District have threatened to lock up the Council offices if Local Government and Housing Minister Sylvia Masebo does not address the water crisis facing the district.

This follows the non supply of piped water to townships in Chadiza for over two weeks now.

The women led by Selina Palata charged that Chadiza District Council has failed to supply water to townships for the past two weeks without any intervention from the Local Government Ministry.

Mrs. Palata said the ministry of Local government should not wait for an outbreak of diseases before coming to the aid the people of Chadiza.

She said the women resolved that if the water crisis is not addressed within 24 hours, they will lock up the council offices.

The women accused the council of paying too much attention to electoral issues at the expense of service delivery.

And Chadiza Boarding High School Deputy Headmaster Jeremiah Mzyece said the lack of water has negatively affected operations at the school.

Mr. Mzyece said ablution blocks were in a bad state because of lack of water.

He said although the school had its own borehole, it could not adequately supply the school with water as it was overwhelmed by the surrounding communities who are squarely dependant on the same.

Mr. Mzyece said staff at the school, especially female teachers were reporting late for work as they had to spend long hours fetching for water.

Chadiza District has had no piped water since 4th October prompting Area Member of Parliament Allan Mbewe to call for a stake holders meeting last Monday at which the council officials promised to restore water supply.

The situation has however remained the same and residents have to queue up for long hours at the few hand pumps.

By press time, council officials could not be reached as they were reportedly out on election related assignments.

Bust if i had to pick one i would pick the Shulies Vintage its not something that most ladies would pick. I like it cause its deerffint and being differe nt is a plus in my books. Because i have a Princess ring as my wedding set already from Robbins Brothers and i just celebrated my wedding anniversary i was thinking on getting another type of set so hopefully this ring can be it. Thanx Tracy and Shulies for given us the chance to put our votes out there, Hope yall have a wonderful day.
