Vote counting starts

Share

Counting of votes has started after a generally peaceful presidential election in Zambia.

Initial reports indicate that there were no violent incidents during voting across the country.

Zambians went to the polls on Thursday to elect the country’s fourth president, who will succeed the late president, Levy Mwanawasa.

Counting of votes has begun but the first results are only expected on Friday.

Some polling stations are located in remote areas of the country, making it difficult for the Electoral Commission of Zambia to compile the final results in good time.

The electoral commission of Zambia has set put a center at the Mulungushi International Conference center in Lusaka , which will be releasing the results as they trickle in from various parts of the country.

  1. Congratulations fellow Zambians for demonstrating that we can have elections supporting different leaders, but enjoy and laugh together even after loosing. Let the results not divide us. LET US MAINTAIN THE STANDARD THAT WE HAVE SET IN THE REGION!!!

  2. well done zeds.. once again we have proved these kaponyas wrong. we are a mature, peaceful people who understand issues.
we have passed this first hurdle and lets prove to the world that we do not condone violence in any form, and are capable of holding credible elections.

  3. All is said, and done, we look forward to tomorrow morning when ZAMBIA shall open a new page in the political arena. Weldone Zambians, for the manner in which the voting was conducted. Zambia, and its people are now for PEACE, thanks to God our Father who day in, out protects, and defends Zambia, and its people.

Strngest appeal to the winner, please make room for the loosers, and fullfil all the promese you made to the Zambia, even those who did not vote for you.

    Amaka ya bwingi-UK.

  4. Elections are as transparent as can be. there can only be one winner and everyone must except the results. no violence is called for in the event your preferred party doesnt come through.please no stone throwing or panga weilding like some bush savages. no excuses please for the world to call us savages that are not ready for civilisation. lets prove them wrong

  5. OBSERVER!!! Dont be deceived those PF/POST crowds were made up, and there is CONCRETE HARD EVIDENCE. We are going to demand for the prosecution of the Post for trying to deceive the nation based on their articles. PICTURES HAVE BEEN STUDIED AND FOUND TO BE WRONG. JOURNALISTIC CORRUPTION for lack of a better word. You wil see they will try to plunge this country into caos. NEVER.

  6. Folks I cannot seem to see any reason of you voting for octagenarians! That is the reason why the Government civil service requires that you retire at the age of 55 years. Messrs Sata and Banda are above the retirement age and should recoil in the comfort of their retirement. Their insistence on running for public office shows one flawed thing about their character. Take heart countrymen, we shall be liberated one day soon!

  7. Tune to QFM live election results have started and so far UPND is reading, PF second and MMD third and you all know HP is always last. This is after 1 polling station in LSK and 4 polling stns in southern province.

  8. #16 Zizi you are making interesting allegations however factoring pictures is one thing, creating chaos is another and I doubt you could achieve both from those pictures. I understand people are getting emotionally chrged here but lets keep things in perspective. For a start what is your hard evidence as you claim?. I would be interested to look at it.

    Stay cool.

  9. I guess it’s still too early for any prognosis, I’m going to bed. Will get up early tommorrow hoping to hear the latest..easy #22 don’t get emotional. Goodnite pipo

  10. Yes, the crowds shown in the Post were false. Today,s Post is a good example. The crowd is looking one way and Sata is facing the other…the Post put Sata onto the picture.

The low turnout is helping RB a lot. Central Province is going to him, Western is strong, so is Eastern. RB has won this one because PF people did not come out to vote…

DONT MISSLEAD PEOPLE WE CAN ALL GET RESULTS POST WHAT YOU HAVE AND EVERYONE WILL POST WHAT THEY HAVE WE SHALL COMPARE ON WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH NO UPDATES FROM PARTIZAN BLOGGERS TODAY THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER

  12. The post wants to make decisions for the country. thats not right! they viciously went into MMD to try and impose candidate but the party rejected them so they adopted Sata and want to prove they can put a leader in state house . Am not saying Sata is bad but the Post must realise that its a newspaper that must give people information and let them decide and not to black out people based on their convictions and beliefs.Throughout the campaigns only Banda’s evils where being brought out what about sata’s? did he suddenly become a saint? what about HH and Miyanda are they perfect? and only RB’s camp had problems. Really?

  13. 31, well spoken. I agree entirely, the Post were beneath the ground. They blacked out HH, portrayed St. Michael as a saviourand the demon, RB. I cant agree more with what you said and I support this Simutanyi when he says whoever comes into Govt must bring some level of responsibility to the media, Post in particular. All Freedoms/Rights have limits and I think they should be set out clearly

  17. Thank you Zambians from Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Northern, Northwestern, The Southern and Western Provinces for voting wisely. Together, Yes we have done it. The end.
Special thanks to all LT bloggers especially those who did not insult anyone. PF cadres, it was great noting how focussed you were: the ‘pabwato’ thingy by you was constant and normally made my fellow HH supporters loses hope time-and-again until I would boost HH supporters morale. MMD cadres, it was a good run with you too. HP, sorry but try again to put up a good support. As for my fellow the UPND’s HH support base, it was great meeting you and participating in a noble cause to develop Zambia together.

  18. #31 and 32 we dont agree you with your views. The Post has all the right to side with any candidate of their choice just like the Times of Zambia, Daily Mail and ZNBC sided with MMD and who blacked out the opposition and sells out Rupiah. The monitor newspaper supports HH and UPND and no one is crying foul. The Post is right because Rupiah wants promote plunders and thieves like Chiluba who Mwanawasa dumped in dust bins.Viva the Post.

  23. iyee chabipa ba snake.PF M.P from Mpika has just called me that their worried because the turn out in mpika was only measuring to about 500 where the expected nos. were thousands and so far their lead on RB is minimal.By the way Sata looks frail,is he going to finish the 3 year term in case he suprises himself by winning these erection…?

  24. BANE GOOD NITE I SHALL WAIT FOR THE FULL RESULTS AT MIDNIGHT AND LIKE I SAID I CANT POST ALL RESULTS OTHERWISE I SHALL BE ACCUSED LIKE THE POST IN 2006

  25. The pattern is good for MMD, not PF. PF voters did not turn out in big enough numbers. Gunners is right that the PF MP is worried. Where PF are winning they are not winning by a big enough margin…MMD strenght in Eastern Province is hurting PF. Don’t forget this election is not based on polling stations or Constituences won…it is a simple head count…the person who get the most votes nationally wins….Sata is doing bady.

  26. Tell you what? i love this country zed and most of all we the people the manner in which we conduct ourselves in main issues concerning zed.We had peacefull polls this afternoon now we’re just waiting for the results and may the best candidate win.
To all zambians i salute you for loving our nation and lets continue with the spirit of peace, love and harmony. This is the only zed God blessed us with so take great care of it.God bless zambia.

  27. Its too early to tell who is doing fine, but so far Mmd is only doing well in Eastern Province. We dont know, if Sata does well in Western and Northwestern, he may carry the day. Hh so far also is only doing well in Southern

  28. HH has has failed o chip away sata’s lead in lusaka. that my harm MMD chances. coz PF is winning within margins above 4-hundred.

  29. The opposition parties are paying the price of selfishness and disunit. It is very difficulty to beat the ruling party when there are four candidates

  30. Let the best man win but if pf wins i will be sad his not presidential material no offence but talk is cheap action speaks any way lets Gods will prevaile

  31. #58 how did you find yourself in this country? You must be one of those abalebepesha Bob. You must have gone across and bought a Zim passport.

  32. Sata is so keen to prove all the allegations of his dictatorial tendancies and I think he may well shock all those that don’t think he is residential material by being a good, practical president and I hope he takes advice and surrounds himself by a good, educated and respnsible team who will advise him in a correct and professional way.It looks like he will wi and will be president for all.Just as well embrace him!

  33. #81 Cheers!

Where is Maestro? After all the noise he was making blimey. The boy has gone into hiding with his tail between his legs.

  34. Lukwesa, the best way Sata can prove he isn’t a dictator is to accept the results of the elections. Now your point about him becoming the next president is a bit wide of the mark. It looks like his strategy of campaigning negatively has backfired on him. Turnout is low in Lusaka and Cooperbelt. How can he win if he doesn’t get the vote in those areas?

  35. Dawson

It still looks like Sata is in the driving seat, no huge differences in eastern. If he can pick up central then is warm and dry

  36. Things in Lusaka are the same as last time (2006); PF leading about 3-1 in most places. Like Kabwata PF had more than 600 while MMD and UPND had about 200. Munali was 400-something with RB 119.

  37. Let me congratulate my fellow Zambians for exercising their right to vote in a right way. This has always been our hope, to have elections void of violence. We are one people! whatever the outcome, let us continue loving one another and develop our mother Zambia. ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION!! God bless icalo cesu! Zambia calo cesu!

  38. Eh the pipo giving results are too fast cant grasp anything concret. However, I think RB shouldnow rely on a miracle happening. Tetamshimba should resign if Solwezi results are as we hear them. Its quite gloomy for RB, we need to sympathise with him. He has faired well, not quite as gloomy as the Post portrayed him. The post singlehandedly take the blame for heading the country this direction.

  39. PF appears to be leading. The major thing I’m worried about is the Barotse Agreement Sata promised to restore. If he honours the promise, it will divide Zambia into two countries. This could be a decision Zambians may live to regret. Anyway, fili uko tuleya.

  40. # 86 dof am sorry I will insult you next time next time. Am now dancing to the good results PF is scoring and I can asure you that victory is certain and viva PAAAAAAAAABWAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOO.

  47. Im proud to be zambian considering the way the elections went on. It shows how peaceful we are. Keep it up. As to who wins lets leave it to God. Im not for any of the candidates, cos none of them seem to have the qualities, one is a kaponya, the other looks too laid back. i mean the two main contenders.

Sata takes an early lead but the contest is still neck to neck. From the results officialy announced, he has so far swept Lusaka, Luapula and Copperbelt. RB is doing fine in eastern province with one notable huge margin ovwer sata in Sinda constituence. The margin in Chipata central is relatively small. Overall he is ok in the east. HH appears to be doing fine in Southern Province but he remains a distant third in the race. Godfrey Miyanda is doing very poor. The other provinces havent sent in their results yet. I will update you later. Keep checking this site ok.

  71. I am still monitoring the southern province electoral results. HH has hammered them all but not enough votes to be in the race. RB is reportedly doing good in North western province too but the number of voters are very small to upset PF. RB is comfortable in eastern province but still the margins are not that impressive. The winner will be determined based on who wins Northern and Central provinces between RB and Sata. So far Sata is ok on the copperbelt, Lusaka and Luapula. He done badly in western and southern provinces. I am now working with my fellow experts to bring you a magic map that will make you project the winner of this tightly contested race.

  72. Iam busy wondering why people are so bothered with all these fake election results, wait for the real thing. Sata will honestly bring the loving mother Zambia down and every gullible Zambian is aware of this. What type of man can promise voters that he is going to bring the cure for AIDS in Zambia. I swear to you all, this is another form of ‘IDI AMIN’ coming back in the form of ‘ichibwa’ SATA. You people who voted for SATA start regreting right now. The Zambian KWACHA WILL SOON TURN INTO TOILET TISSUE PAPER LIKE THE ZIMBABWE DOLLAR. MUKACHULA, LWENU… YOU HAVE MADE YOUR OWN DECISIONS. DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!!!!!!!!!!

  73. #144. Uchipo – These results are official enough as they have been pasted outside Polling Stations and so are not tentative and will not differ from what ECZ will annouce at MICC.

  74. Mr president, this time around we discussing electoral results not political rhetoric. The campaigns ended on Wednesday 6 pm and you would have said all these things that are saying now. Your rhetoric wont change the math by the way. You dont have to cry too loud if your preferred candidate is not doing fine. Moreover, these are just preliminary results of which nobody at this time knows who the winner is. It is difficult to project a winner based on these results. Be patient, you may be surprised your preferred candidate will upset the tables to emerge the winner. I did not endorse any candidate for a number of reasons. Take it easy my dear it is never too late.

  75. Pipo just go to bed. Ba chief rigger ba VJ naba rigger bane. Lozis en Tongas out cos you seem to vote for RB. Hope you die without developments in your provinces. Shame!

  76. PIPO the pattern so far is that no one will get over 50 percent. SATA is however getting some pockets from MMD like kabwe and solwezi. His performance in Western province has also improved greatly. going by this i think SATA is winning..LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM.. looks like KING COBRA is our NEXT PRESIDENT…BY THE WAY EASTERN is going to RB and SATA is distant second….watch this space

  77. Awe mwaba tusha ama results tayalafuma these a preliminary Zambia is too big most of the results on LT are from polling stations not even constituencies. Uletekanya imiponto ulenasha!

  78. no.161. EEYO Brother wandi temimpoto, natu chula sana na ba MMD bane. We cant expected this kind of poverty na corruption. Its even better to die if RB wins lelo

  79. The new trend seems to be that SATA has made some serious in roads in Western Southern Eastern and North Western Provinces. He has already won Solwezi and Kabwe from MMD…very interesting…Hate or Love HIM whatever happens the Man has worked..i am not PF for the record. i actually voted for HH..I am merely trying to be objective here and not emotional. PERIOD…zambia where to next..GOD HELP US

  80. #152 Mrs President you seem so sure of your own beliefs and yet one detects a certain more than just a dislike for Sata by the names you used. What about RB, HH or Chirwa (though the latter is not standing this year) can any one of them make a difference to your liking?.

My views are, I would rather chose performance or delivery over rhetoric and lack of vision. With the exception of chirwa i doubt any of the candidates have a real vision however on track record MS is ahead of the pack.

  82. 147 the picture differ this time around bcoz Sata is leading RB by close to 55% margins and in some cases 58%.2006 was a bit tricky bcoz levy was trailing by small margins on the copperbelt and lusaka.central shall this time be a decider.

  83. #155 Ba Momba, I did not endorse any candidate on these elections neither did I vote, but am always scared/nervous of results be it soccer/tennis/golf/cricket/footy/exams etc,….flying too makes me nervous. This one scares me most as mother Zambia is a born peaceful nation and anarchy is the last thing one can expect. I am presently so far away from mother Zambia in ‘EXILE’ and anxiety state of such nature far away from home is extremely uncomfortable.
I know one should never cry over spilt milk, but SATA to win is unforgivable to all Zambians who put a single vote for him.’MY HEART IS BLEEDING RIGHT NOW, LET IT NOT BE LOLLL………

  84. #157. Uchipo – for the record, I am quite well connected myself. If anything different comes up lets exchange notes but my analysis is that the 2006 trends are repeating themselves but Sata seems to have eaten into the MMD areas this time around and HH is also eating into MMD areas in NW etc. Lets wait for MICC tomorrow but we will be talking of the same figures. I am driving to MICC at 02 to check the results by the way.

  85. FINALLY I HAVE RESIGNED FROM POLITICS VIEWING, DISCUSSIONS ETC I AM MY OWN PRESIDENT. IT IS WASTEFUL TO DWELL UPON THE PROFESSION OF OTHERS. ECONOMY IS IN YOUR POCKET, HAPPINESS ON YOUR BODY, INTELLIGENCE IN YOUR HEAD. POLITICIANS ARE THE SAME, EXPLOITERS, EMBEZZLERS, UNJUST, UNFAIR ETC. THOSE WHO CAMPAIGNED HEAVILY WILL ONLY REAP A PARTY CARD. BYE BYE LUSAKA TIMES, POST, ZNBC, TIMES, DAILY MAIL AND RADIO STATIONS. GOING BACK TO MY OWN DREAM WORLD OF BOOKS. BYE AGAIN.

  86. no.173. Please continue being in exile cos uleta musokonezo manje. You dont think en dont seem to know what you talking about. You still live in the past. All the best with your opionions!

  87. Mrs President, I share your concerns. My heart too is bleeding, but I will truly CRY when the final result is announced. In my humble thinking, a dictator cant be stopped, but a perceived corrupt person can be stopped by mechanisms. We are headed for doom apparently. I am praying for a miracle right now, let God take charge of the situation in Zambia.

  88. #173 Mrs President why is it unforgivable for Sata to win? clearly there are amny people who want him to win so he can not be as bad as you portray him. For the record I am a Chirwa man

  89. 177 GOD HAS DETERMINED THE NEXT PRESIDENT.RUTHLESSNESS CAN BE CORRECTED AS IN THE CASE OF SAUL WHO LATER BCAME PAUL.BUT CORRUPTION STINKS AND THE PRICE PAID IS DEATH AS IN THE CASE OF JUDAHS ISCARIOT.

  90. # 173 and 177, why are you worried for us who are living and breathing Zambia when you have abandoned the motherland. We are happy to have Sata and no apologies for that.

  91. As it stands by lunch time tomorrow if RB doent win all Zambians who voted today have no place in the global village you all will become another Zim and you will give a good reason for people who wanted to come back to zed not to come back.
Even prof Chirwa a qualified and succeful man was going to move back to Zed many more where on there way i can assure you those tickets have been canceld

  92. Item just received:

    Munali Constituency:

    UNZA Polling Station:
    HP 22
    MMD 369
    UPND 591
    PF 1275

Remember in Munali we had other results with Sata leading in the ratio 4 to 1 against RB.

  93. #186 No one has cancelled their tickets, Prof Chirwa is still coming to contest the 2011 elections. People don’t refrain from returning becuase of the face at state house, it is the policies and practices that stop people returning. Please don’t be alarmist.

  95. Interesting, it shows how impatient we all are to know who takes zed forward.I dont understand why we cant wait for the final results. ka goneni manje kwafipa.

  96. im for sata.i know every one has got a candidate on mind.dont judge me for my choice. its my right. i do not do politics for insults. but if my candidate is not president then life goes on. the president who is picked, must be Gods choice, as the bible says what goes has put know man will separate.if Rb,HH or miyanda is Gods choice then let it be, he is also human. All i want is for my children and my great grand children to have a good future.1 zambia, 1 Nation. God bless zambia.

  97. #178, stay exiled I will, after all it was a self styled exile. #183, who tells you Sata won’t be corrupt? the man stinks of corruption even from here where Iam; he was born corrupt.
#185 , umunkoyo wa la sasa nomba line nga bwacha!
    #180,#186, am with you.
Its 11.45 am, Friday 31st here and in Zambia its approx 0245 am.that’s why am ticklish of the outcome!

  98. #190 ine kuno kwacha Friday 31st how can I go and sleep again?
#191, very sensible blogger, very soothing. We want more people like you on the blog. God BLESS YOU!

  99. Basa mebo ndaakoona lino. A word of encouragement to all, in 2006 while studying in South Africa during a similar election result anxiety period, I congratulated Mr Micheal Sata for winning the Presidential election way before all the results from all constituencies came in. However, it so happened that Mr Sata lost those elections terribly where by he got 29% and late Former Zambian LP Mwanawasa won with 43-6%. To this end, I learnt my lessons. In Bemba, they say “ukutangila tekufika.” Remember, a similar thing happened to late Mazoka in 2001. My former history teachers used to say “history repeats iself.” n light of all this, I urge all Zambians to keep cool and wait for the final results.

  100. #199, Iam in Melbourne. The city won’t be much enjoyed to day considering the results opinion gimmicks am seeing here, to me they are all baseless..and that’s more annoying. Thanks for your advice, I will see what I can do today…..whilst waiting…killing time.
I have been on the phone to all my family members in Zambia and they all seem to be guessing.. and that is not helping either.

  101. North-western province is the KING maker. Those guys will post thousands for MMD. Sata’s margine will disappear in vapor. Sata will lose these elections even by 10 000 votes.

If Sata wins, I will congratulate him. That’s what they call democratic decency. I don’t like him and I think he’s another Idi Amin waiting to happen.

  102. #202. Maestro, what are you talking about? maybe you are better of than me b’coz you accepted defeat 2 weeks ago? let me grieve, chikalipe mpaka chipwililile…

    Greetings from my co-worker Msanide.

  103. 188. Exiled – Get a life. I am not here for fights with you. I am happy with my life and I thank God for what he has given me and will not tempt fate by asking for too much.

  104. #202 Mrs President likewise I am going to snooze in half an hour then head for London in the morning and perhaps catch the results on the radio or by way of frantic texts later. No use worrying now we can not change anything. Enjoy Melbourne if you can its a great city as you know anyway!!

  105. well whether he wins or not Sata should consider going for a convention. You cant have such a big party running on appointments from President to MCC members whatever they are called. In civilized democratic societies PF would not even be anywhere near the ballot boxes . The party is simply undemocratic its a mass movement.

  106. Kasumba Kakelamba tulingane nabalile. Ba Sata baletwanga, bawesu amataki nipa Copperbelt; ubwato ni kwa milambo; Alechimona balemunyela kuli ba kachokwe!!

  107. #203, good morning. We will have a chat saturday evening, by God’s grace, if you will be around. I have a presentation tomorrow and so I have to sleep now. Take careful care alway and may the good Lord God bless you and all Zambians.
Remember, the Zambia Army commander has warned that anarchy will not/probably never be entertained in Zambia especially in this post-election would-be excitement.

    Later.

  108. 204, you are really confused. Follow earlier bloggs and you will see that we have lost out in a few places in NW province. HH has spoilt our party and Sata even won in a few places in NW. What remains now is Western province and I hope margins will erase Sata’s lead. Southern province margins between RB and Sata as big as 2006

  109. #205, Mrs President, I understand but do not lose heart – Mrs President – yet or in future. I have a lot of experience now about Zambian politics. The only unfortunate thing is that I will not be able to join politics in life – I am sure. But, I might be on the ground in 2016 – but that might only happen then.

Thanks for the greeting from Msanide. Tell him to take care and be lazy to do evil. May you have a great day. Bye then.

  110. #198. Mrs President – I am not here to pick fights. I am trying to do my best to feed fellow Zambians abroad info using my own Internet connection at home at my cost.

  111. #218 Munkoyo, you are doing are great job my brother.Sometimes it is important to ignore detractors. You will not lose anything by playing dumb.Just keep doing what you’re doing coz some people appreciate it.Stay blessed

  112. #218.Munkoyo Thanks alot ,you are really helping most of us.You are a true citizen. Please continue updating us and your efforts wont go unappreciated.Zambia needs more people like you and not only zambia but the world at large.

  113. #218.Munkoyo Thanks alot ,you are really helping most of us.You are a true citizen. Please continue updating us and your efforts wont go unappreciated.Zambia needs more people like you and not only zambia but the world at large.

  114. but why convention?I dont think conventions in African politics help anything.Things are normally predetermined and people get strict instructions on how to vote.Conventions are a waste of time.,lets be honest to ourselves

  115. #228, though I voted for Sata, I could easily have voted for Miyanda had I thought my vote was not going to help Sata. This is because Miyanda is as clean as a whistle. His integrity is just misplaced. He is in the wrong country. he is our Colin Powell. You will see that UNZA and other places were people appreciate his values, he got good votes.

  116. Choma one you are wrong there is nothing like African politics we must all strive for the best and by starting then we can improve.remember the MMD convention? VJ was favourite but was beaten by Katele. remember the recent MMD NEC adoption? Magande may have rhymed well with some but was thumped i can go on and on but we need to start we may not be perfect but we can improve. when you dont have conventions you end up with people like Chumbwe that defect 8 hours before an election can you call these genuine PF supporters? what took them so long on the other side until they saw the crowds? democracy can not be wished away . we must vote whether in UPND in PF or MMD.

  117. But ba Miyanda tabonfwa! Who encouraged the general nkanshi. Mwamona nombe ifilechitika. Even in democracy, it’s important to for one to weigh the situ’s well, otherwise it becomes ukubuta.

  118. Chipate Central
Mpezeni Park MMD 132 PF 105 HH 9 HP 2
    Walala MMD 150 PF 44 HH 16 HP 3
Kagunda School MMD 317 PF 45 HH 20 HP 2
Dambe School MMD 157 HH 5 PF 12 HP 1
Chini Market MMD 332 PF 80 HH 26 HP 2
Kamoto Farm MMD 40 PF 27 HH 9 HP 0

Only one polling station is remaining for Chipata Central apart from the others earlier mentioned.

  119. all of us Zambians, wherever we happen to be, can walk with our heads high, seeing as it is that we are able to have peaceful elections, even within such a short space of time. We should not take this for granted; we should continue respecting one another and guard this peace jealously. Am here in america and am so happy to tell one and all here that am a Zambian ‘born and bred!”

  120. #230 he maybe clean but staying at home for over a year and showing up to file in while you struggle to raise supporters raises a lot of questions on your ability to lead. Its not only about cleanliness what about the ability to consult forge alliances, listen and involve others in your leadership . i think the general is too solo that affects his qualities. Clean he is. Is he power hungry or principled i dont know!

  121. Waziona, I think there is a gimmick somewhere and he makes money through standing I guess and I am sure he doesn’t do it to win. He is not even bothered about rallies and serious media coverage.

  122. Munkoyo I agree with you. if he was serious about power he would have made alliances with either HH or MMD or PF or i dont know just some party or even campaigning to strengthen his party . look at Sata he started later than Miyanda but is on the verge of ruling today. yet given characteristics Miyanda would have been much closer or would have taken it easily. Miyanda ran a very good race in 2001. i am not sure he will ever beat that record. Because this election is quite damaging to him.

  123. 237.Waziona how have conventions helped in Zambia? The fact that a convention worked well in the states does not mean it will always fit a different society like Zambia. We can come up with a political model that would fit the Zambian society.Africa itself is not ready for for US kind of democracy. For democracy to work, you must first empower people ,make them literate, provide them with access to information and knowledge

  124. Ala nakuno ku United Kingdom ni pa bwato,PF.Zambia needs a Benevolent Dictator,a leader who will move Zambia forward.Sata has built the party with passion and he deserves to win. There is no substitute for hard work.I urge you to support the man.Majority of Zambians here in the UK know that Sata is the next president. Why are so blind that you have failed to see, change has come.

Ba SATA ala namuwina na kalepuka

  125. # 234 are those the only people who voted in Chipata Central!!Thats less than 3000?? I doubt then if R.B will make it, because the Northern P turn-up may be higher for Sata, unless if does better in Mbala, Nakonde and Isoka.

  126. Sata is losing badly in western and central province. This is a lesson to all pipo that what goes round comes round. The best person to stand is not yet on the political scenario. RB seems to be following the same pattern LPM had in the rural areas. Something fishy here.
Any way who ever wins in these elections is a minority president period

  127. Its remains for us Africans to come up with a political model that would suit us,that requires honest thinking and God s guidance.Let us not rely on what the Europeans thought for themeslves. If for example China or Russia would adopt the kind of American democracy those countries would sink and break coz every community has unique problems which might require unique answers

  128. Zedian! nili pa night duty and this blog is really helping keep my eyes open. kwacha manje tinveleko va chendi not mabboza yali pa LT.

  129. Look at Uganda the country has moved forward. If i may ask who is their leader?
Check the meaning of the word Benevolent before you say anything

  130. Surely something has terribly gone wrong somewhere. Pipo of Zambia, is this the election so popularised by huge rally crowds worthy it. I am sure who ever was meeting chiefs more, could have transmitted some messege to the electorate that they shun the elections. Could be the 400,000 pipo included by ECZ are the ones voting. So much apathy that i am thinking twice wether we are a democractic country or simply one party state in disguise. As long as such elections are sanctioned by ECZ and the chief justtice rubber stamps them, zambia is headed no where except all the resources will be in the hands of the foreigners. Shame on us and the current leadership. Ichililo kuli sata again. Alimuchibe

  131. RB may not follow LPM route if he is going to rig. they dont rig the same way. remember Chiluba used CB, Luapula, northern and central. sata left Government with that in mind and left an opening in the east, N/W West corridor which MMD late exploited nicely. RB will have his own corridor just watch and see.

  132. Total Votes counted so far by MUVI TV as of 03:25hrs this morning, PF is leading with more than 45 000 (57%), MMD more than 25 000 (33%), HH about about 5 000 (7%) and HP has (1%).

  133. New results just in on MUVI TV:

    Kitwe Town is done:

    Chimwemwe MMD 5324 HH 678 HP 72 PF 11 643
    Nkana MMD 3037 HH 517 HP 105 PF 12 323
Kanfinsa MMD 4043 HH 750 HP 89 PF PF 8943
    Wusakile Constituency MMD 3335 HH 557 HP 58 PF 11 968
    Kwacha MMD 58** HH 1*** HP 160 PF 14 428

  134. 5 provinces where MUVI TV has covered i.e CB, Eastern, Lusaka, Southern and Central, the total votes are MMD 25 550 votes, PF 46 263, UPND 5192 and HP 755.

  135. OH NO! Penalty shoot out for real! MMD is banking on results from Western but PF still has Luapula and Norrthern to come into the picture! Its like Chelsea and Man United shootout! We are now waiting for John Terry to step forward! Win or lose, VIVA MMD

  136. Awe mwe why are Zambian elections so boring and predictable? And why do we always have nkote’s on the ballots? Able minded and bodied fellow young ones of Zambia What’s up? Younger than 45, please run, I’ll vote for you. We need fresh intelligent, uncorrupt minds to push Zambia out of this desperate cycle of poverty. I am very sad today, I have very always thought Zambia was a third world country but alas, only to find out its considered a fourth world country. Honestly! Since when has such a term existed? And who gives them the right? Please Young Zambian intellectuals take over the running of mother Zambia and stop them before they label us 5th world. Look up this link to read my source

  137. #258 BUT MUNKOYO ULI MUKALI. NANOMBA TAULALALALA. U ARE SO VIGILANT. WE NEED U IN ZAMBIA. KEEP IT UP MAN.

  138. #246. CHE GUEVARA – Sata is winning in Central Province and in the areas he is losing, it is HH winning like Mumbwa. Then in NW and Southern where Sata has no advantage over MMD, HH has ensured that Rb has peanuts and not beating Sata.

But we are still VERY FAR from getting a real good picture of what is really happening.

  139. Yes amaka you are right BUT gud policies are never developed by one man appointing all people in his party including himself.

  140. yeah Munkoyo you are right. One other new thing in the results is that SATA is not very far in Southern . that will help him greatly.

  141. post is on but nothing on elections only the usual past. qfm has gone off i also need to sleep and be up in two hours time. thanks guys

  142. #263. Waziona – no not all constituencies have been counted. We are still VERY FAR in totalling. PF’s lead will be cut when we move to rural areas but the gaps Sata has so far seem unasailable though. The dibilitating factor for him is that Luapula and Northern Provinces are yet to come in play.

  143. Have to sleep now mbuya – but latest results coming from Chawama, MMD (chwechwechwe!) are quite close to Sata (Pabwato!) with them doing around 200 in stations while Sata is doing around 400 in stations. Not bad gaps like on the Copperbelt. But in other areas of Lusaka it is almost in the ratio 1 to 4.5 in favour of Sata against RB.

    Later bosses.

  144. How has Singapore or China developed?Who is behind?Research ba kalamba.China has developed very rapidly. Why good policies not ama politics nga pa Zed

  145. One Hangala? Lweendo’s big brother! How are you!How is Australia? All radios off. perhaps we should make sure we have some station in Livingstone live online?? hahahaha

  146. AMAKA

Embedded state autonomy has allowed China and S Korea to develop so rapidly.
We dont need too much of democracy at the moment but directed development

  147. Let’s continue to pray against Malpractices if they will be any. May there be a strong conviction and repentance if this is happening. Zambia is too precious and God loves our country so much.

  148. Munkoyo Zambia needs more people like yourself. Bantu benangu benzo ona cu voter monga nicu enda cu ma rally chabe, Bonse baku Eastern na bonse baku western babululu banga ni Pabwatoo, Na Nyaila mo naine. Change in any form, HH, or Miyanda too, but for now, Ni PABWATOOOOOOOOOO. Tiyeni.

  149. MMD kuya bebele.

Now that Sata will be president I have to return home for some diplomatic appointment.

    Cheers PF
    Cheers Zambians

    Naifwe tuleyeko isha boma.

  150. May God bless us ever more, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa are the key marks of democracy in Africa. Though I pray for the whole continent.

  151. Yes Munkoyo you are making us proud we left great citizens back home. It seems Chi Boat Cha nyamuka, from the east to my other home in the west( Silozi); to the north and south. Zambia as one let us bring change in any form. A new frontier. May God bless us all.

  152. FO PETAUKE,2MO POLLING STATIONS REMAINING.WITHOUT PETAUKE,FULL CONTITUENCE TOTALS SO FAR,

  154. Munkoyo you are great. Thanks for the updates. Please keep up with the same spirit you are the people needed in society. And for developmemnt.

    Cheers.

  155. the results for the previous election are not significantly different in CB,LSK,Kabwe central , luapula so far for PF

  156. You guys are doing a great job! please keep us posted it’s like IAM RIGHT THERE IN KITWE THANKS TO THE INTERNET! iam following these results to their logical conclusion. ICHI CHINTU TUMWENE EEEEEE! UNO MWAKA TAKULI NJUKAEE! UNO WENA TULEWINAA!

  157. Just a reminder to all that less than 10% of votes have been added. There is a long way to go before any conclusions can be made.

  158. For all our sakes and that of our children, i hope Mr. Sata delivers.I was hoping HH would do better.I still beieve this guy has a great vision. But it seems to me that Sata will carry the day.May God watch over our Mother Zambia. Great compliments to my compatriots for a peaceful election. It a true testament to what great people Zambians are. The voice of the majority has spoken, let there be no violence when results are announced.

  159. Counting can start, but the comments by Army Command Chisushi were uncalled for. It is not the army’s job for such problems. Zambia is not under Military Govt. Chisushi must be hanged for indirect coup that he has committed. This is pure overzealousness which can cause even a peaceful election turn things south.

  160. Zambians in Malaysia, I’m throwing a bash this Sunday to welcome our new president…whoever the numbskull is.

  161. # 331 thats because you are using a commodor 64 computer …its about time you upgrade to atleast a p 2 computer , because a MAC would blow your mind ….baby steps

  162. For real the comments from Army Command shud be condemned by all peace loving Zambians. He shud not be used by selfish politicians to turn our peaceful country into turmoil. We are a civilised nation, all we need is a good leader.

  163. The best we can do is when the returning officer announces who the winner is. Remember in 2006, the trend was Sata winning then came the VILLAGERS, thats why i dont support those in the village, no more holidays for them and let them stay where they like-ghetto.

  164. #345, I CAN CATCH A FLIGHT FROM CHINA TO MALAYSIA, TIFUNA KA STAPLE FOOD, KANSIMA PLIZ, NIKUDALA MANAINGI AKABWALI

  165. just browsed the election website, but i cant see where the they are getting those percentages from. When you check out the districts, they are all reading 0% what is the story here

  166. Acording to the website only 10 out of 150 constituencies have been counted. I think it is too early for any one to pop the champagne.

  167. This election might go the MMD way coz out 150 Sata is just leading in 10 constituencies. At 50% while RB at 34% this is very small a gap noting that we still have more than 100 const. The win by Sata is just translating to just above 6%

  168. The site is working. Check your pop up blockers or probably your computer is not really old, but kind of. I did not have any problem at all.

  169. Looking at the polarity of the voting patterns,Zambia must consider a federal sysytem of Government.
Otherwise,we risk being ruled by a majority ethnic group for quite a while which could lead to resentment from the so-called minority and you know the rest.
Lets not bury our heads in the Sand.

  170. This Miyanda Guy should hang up his boots. He just doesn t have it. Zambia should learn to quit when the still have bit of dignity. Look at this man now. he is struggling to beat spoilt ballot papers. Next time the ECZ should impose at least 100 million kwacha as submission fee which should not be refundable. This will put off this waya waya candidates

  171. Am able to access the results on zambiaelections.org.
Get on board and enjoy the drama.

Out of the 11 constituencies so far, the results are as follows.

    UPND 27,941 14%

  175. MMD your time is up.

President sata is coming to state house.

I cant wait see the face of ba MMD this eveining. There will be stone throwing mu MMD.

  176. I wish to that you all beloved Zambians for the peace you resolvedly displayed yesterday. Excellent patriotism, keep it up and GOD bless you.

  177. On current trends only about 50% of registered voters actually voted. With 3.9m registered voters that means we can expect about 1.95m to have voted. Results given out so far appear to be about 200,000 just over 10% of expected voters. Some 1.75m votes are yet to be announced. Its a long way to go before any winner can be declared.

  178. These guys are blinding u again. Remember the 2006 elections. Where are the results form rural areas???? this is where the rigging takes place. Right now VJ is in the field rigging. By the end of the day, RB will emergy the winner.

  179. Thanx my pips for the info on the website. Today i wont even go for work, i will just be totally focused on the elections. But can someone tell miyanda to stop embarassing himself

  180. Now, coming to the voter turn out I wish to restate that numbers proved that the campaign crowds were not the true picture of the overal picture. Let us wait for the rural areas before people can start crying in venacular, ‘meboooo! maweeee! mayoooo!.

  181. If we the people get beaten twice by the same person, how daft are we then. Chisuzi shud not hide in his uniform, he shud have been the last person to forment violence. Rural zambia with this economical trend to still habour more polling stations is not only a wastage but sabottage by VJ. whoever will emerge winner will have to face the reality of the global economical reccession that has gripped zambia too.

  182. It looks like so far evrything is going on smoothly and i am thaking Zambians for conducting themselves peacefuly in the on going result announcements. We love peace and it should prevail forever. God bless Zambia.

  183. #387 I think you are right. The same thing happend in 2006. They started with where sata won and then u will see when the start announcing rural results. RB is winning

  184. where do these people come from who vote for MMD? are these genuine figures? who knows where i can get results on the net as they come out?

  185. MICHAEL SATA:

-This is a man who was going to invite ROBERT MUGABE to his inaugural speech last election.

-This is a man who was one of FREDRICK CHILUBA’S henchmen.

-This is a man who wanted to snub CHINA for TAIWAN and NORTH KOREA.

-This is a man who started PF because he was bitter at not getting the MMD presidency.

-This is a man who is an ex-COP, absolutely no idea about how an economy runs.

-This is the xenophobic man who INVESTORS shudder when his name is uttered. Watch the EXODUS unfold.

-This is a man with 90 DAY promises only rivaled by an IRAQI victory- George Bush.

Now wait for the rural vote

    tizaona

  188. #387 & #392,
The trend of starting to announce election results in urban areas is no rocket science, its simple logic. It is very easy for you to access Lusaka and the copperbelt than to access Kalabo or Shangombo district. It therefore makes alot of sense for election results from Munali or Kanyama to reach MICC than those from Imwiko. All the results will be counterchecked since they will be stuck on polling stations. If you want results from rural areas, simply find where they are stuck.Sata won cleanly in Lusaka, CB, parts of luapula and Northern province and lost cleanly in N.W,Southern, Eastern, Western, and Central in 2006.

  189. SINCE WE KNOW WHO WON, HERE IS THE NEXT NEWS NOW..FAZ- president, Kalusha Bwalya is confident
Football Association of Zambia- FAZ- president, Kalusha Bwalya, says the Zambia national soccer team has a chance of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Bwalya says the Chipolopolo boys are capable of beating any team in their qualiying group, which includes reigning African champions Egypt.

He says FAZ will soon meet with government officials to draw up the team’s training programme in an effort to prepare adequately for the qualifiers.

Zambia begins her quest for a maiden world cup appearance with an away tough encounter against group favourites, Egypt, in March next year

  190. Kabudula bamba keep it up, I was listening to q-fm now my battery is low. This is a replay of 2006 nothing more, RB will win this election possibly with a wider margin than Levy did in 2006, Sata will be second and HH will be third in that order and the margin between Sata and HH might be narrower that was in 2006 albeit the low voter turn out

  191. Zambian Opposition Leader Sata Leads in Early Election Results

    By Nasreen Seria

Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) — Zambian opposition leader Michael Sata is leading in early results from yesterday’s presidential election.

Sata has won 63.5 percent of the votes cast in 15 out of 150 constituencies, according to results collated by the Electoral Commission of Zambia. Acting president and ruling party candidate Rupiah Banda is trailing with 29.5 percent.

  192. #409 bloomberg should say all votes thus counted are from PF strongholds and even go further and say PF lost in Nakonde to MMD by a wide margin, RB will win this election, even me as a UPND supporter have just accepted that fact.

  193. chilishani uko? twebeni! ine i would never vote for a man like Sata who preaches divisive politics. Zambians are peace-loving, non-violent, jovial people. We are a united people with no racial, tribal or social segregation. Watch this space if that man wins.I know his kids personally and he may not be a bad human being, but he is not presidential material.Popel seem to be under the illusion that he will turn Zmbia around. He should just tend to his battered heart.Mwalitemwa ifililo, bena zambia, kwena. 199. Definately RB is winning. They always make sure that they annouce results where sata has won so that they know by how much to rig in rural areas. Too bad for Zambia. Another 3 years wasted. In 2011, please let there only be 2 parties if MMD should be removed. Otherwise, MMD wamuyayaya. I rest my case

The Chinese vessel was said to be bound for Angola but the US is reported to be pressuring port authorities there and in Namibia not to allow them to dock. The ship, which had been anchored off the port of Durban for four days, was forced to move on Friday after a South African court refused. Despite reports the ship was heading for Angola, but Angolan Ports Filomeno Mendonca said the vessel had not asked for permission to dock in Angola. This ship has not sought request to enter Angolan territorial waters and it’s not authorised to enter Angolan ports,” he told local radio. A South African military spokesman has said th

  202. 426 that is the unfortunate part it looks like if MMD win this one, they will be in power forever, this is the biggest scare since 2001 when Anderson came this close. About rigging I am not very sure, like Ndola central some ballot boxes have been rejected because they were tempered with. MMD is actually very popular even steadman said so the ones that released the opinion poll results three days ago.

  203. My fellow brothers please keep on updating us on election results, thanks to kadundula bamba but we hope your information is correct because you are giving us hope.

  204. #433. You are right. I also have the correct results as announced by Judge florence Mumba a few minutes ago at MICC out of the 19 constituencies announced.

    The Boat is sailing!

  205. I doubt if RB will catch up with Sata the way LPM did. The winning margins for Sata are too big and he has now got votes in places where he did not in 2006. Where is RB going to get votes to wipe out Sata’s lead?

  206. Vernon Mwaanga has survived an assasination attempt. His house in Lusaka had almost all the windows shattered by bullets.

  207. This just shows how power hungry HH is, he was supposed to give thoe votes to the old man but now the nkotizo are beating the young man left right centre. He is likely to fell out of favor becoz he will be labled a power hungry tribalist

  208. #441. Thats our wish but knowing the chief rigger’s tricks, i have a filling that something is going on right now. Why does it take so long to announce rural results????

  209. Ba # 398, that time of wooing people to vote for who is over, justice has been done. If you are so eduacted where are you. Come in the open and convince us and we are going to vote for you.

  217. 445 it is not HH being power hungry but results of tribalism in Zambia. Why did Mazoka lose to LPM? It was Chiluba’s influence on Bemba speaking areas. These results also show the illiteracy level in Zambia because one wonders why you can vote for a party without a written down manifesto, the party that does not elect its office bearers, a party that wants to give chiefs free vehicles when the hopsitals have no medicines, a party that promises to give back power to Barotse establishment. do you know that Barotseland covers party of copperbelt up to part of Southern province?

  218. #426, & #434,

A change of government from MMD to PF may not neccessarily mean real change. The people surrounding honourable Sata, like Danny Pule, William Harringtone, Guyscot, and others including Sata himself are all recycled MMD. In essence, PF is a version of MMD. In my opinion, HH and UPND would have represented some real change, that is, if what we really need is change. The way things are unravelling, it seems we are stuck with MMD, either under RB or Sata.

  220. PFs strategy was simple. Gain some votes while your friends lose some. MMD has lost some grip in some areas and PF has gained in none traditional areas. All PF needs to do is pick up votes along the way as the counting goes on. I bet the total vote in NothWester will not go above 70,000 and western will not go above 80,000. This means if RB gets NW 40,000 and Western 60,000. this should mean PF should have 0 in the 2 provinces. How ever we know that this is not possible so PF will get some and still mentain the lead up to the finish line. It will be game over for RB.

  221. ah i did a ka nice table and this is what comes out atase anyway figues for busakile not correct but totals accurate so far

  222. #296 LUAPULA FISH owner of Phoenix is in GRZ Tourism Board. #314 are you refering total country vote or just eastern p.

  223. Sata should step down completely after loosing this election. He has already lost his strongholds will be counted first before fixing him with our ever green rural voters wait patiently and peacefully as we witness the boat sinking in the deep waters of Chitulika sea.

  224. Looks like SATa is unstoppable but well its too early to claim victory. Concerned countrymen, visit zambiaelections.org for an update

  229. #433 They should just have killed him. He has made Zambians suffer because of his greedy. He has been rigging elections ever since. I have no sorry for him.

  230. If the results sent by Kaikai are correct though it would be nice to have the total for other candidates to be accurate the percentage difference between the 2 leading candidates has been reduced by 2 to 4 percent

    #478,THANX 4 THE UPDATE.

  232. #480 you are mad! what are you implying? that MMD will overtake PF from there?! no ways, we want change!
if CB, Central, Lusaka, Northern, Luapula goes to Sata
    and
    if Southern goes to HH
and NW, Western, Eastern go to RB
    then Sata is Presido!

  237. zambiaelections.org i dont know how some ppl r still getting it wrong

  238. Although the vote is seen as a test of Zambia’s commitment to multi-party democracy, restored in 1990 after 18 years of one-party rule under Kenneth Kaunda, neither Banda nor Sata is expected to reshape the political landscape dramatically. NO CHANGE! after the results and swearing in….then comes the recession kaya mama!

  239. LUSAKA (Reuters) – Zambian opposition leader Michael Sata is leading acting President Rupiah Banda in the presidential election, according to preliminary results of about 13 percent of constituencies released on Friday.

Sata, who heads the Patriotic Front, had 187,863 votes versus 96,325 votes for Banda, election officials announced. The tally was based on counting in 19 of the country’s 150 constituencies. Voters in Africa’s biggest copper producer voted on Thursday to choose a successor for late President Levy Mwanawasa.

  240. The percent diff will keep going up and down but the big one of the 2 will be the down ie down say 5% then up again by just 1-3 percente because the big numbers have almost all come in for a PF,
HH will make a significant show in the remaining results which also affects the percent difference

  241. Zambian opposition leader Michael Sata, known by supporters as “King Cobra” for his attacking style of politics, took an early lead in the southern African nation’s presidential election, preliminary results showed. Sata has won 59.5 percent of the ballots cast in 19 out of 150 constituencies, Florence Mumba, chairwoman of the Electoral Commission of Zambia, told reporters today in the capital, Lusaka. Acting president and ruling party candidate Rupiah Banda is trailing with 30.5 percent.

  242. May God grant Zambia the usual peace, we are a people of peace who fear God as the Bible says that “fear of God is the begining of wisdom” and because of this fear, we pray for peace and stability in our nation.

  244. Iwe ba pf dont celebrate yet, the tables will turn with rural vote. n how MMD will win with a small margin. VIVA RB RB RB

  245. Am happy RB has managed slightly over 50% votes in the PF strongholds. As RB starts catching up, PF will get into their song called “rigging rigging”. When they lead there’s no rigging but the moment they start trailling its called rigging. Beacuse of Sata’s careless statements of nationalisation etc the kwacha is trading at almsot K5000/US$. Its was surprising yesterday when I went to vote to find that the PF cadres who flock their rallies were not ther to vote!!! Rallies are just numbers!!

  246. It will be misleading for anyone to think Zambia is just the line of rail and the district centres.
The paturn in towns and district centres is very different from what is in deep rural areas. Just wait for the time when people will be crying in venacular: mayooo!, mebooo!, maweee!

  247. ha ha ha lekeni Sata ateke, what are you going to do now that you are evidently losing the election ba PF? Watch this space, but in the unlikely event you pull it off, i will congratulate you

  248. #530,yu have made my day.this is the most intellectual joke of the week, thumbs up pal.the general is competing with void, hahahahahahah

  249. I thought there were so many HH supporters on this blog. Where are they? Don’t abandon your candidate, there is still hope.

  250. Zambians……
Start preparing for another state funeral cause someone will die from another heart attack before 2011.

You were told to vote for real change and now you’ll have to pay the price for voting blindly… May the Dollar trade at K15000 and inflation rise to 100% as punishment for your careless and brainless decisions. Taxes will go up by 15%

  251. In the rural areas people were busy farming yesterday and they might not pull such a great surprise. But wait and see what happens as the sun weakens.
HH supports cheer up. There is always a next time

  252. If the rural areas end up determining who the next president is l would strongly suggest we follow the US system of electoral college, where every province is allocated a number of electoral votes and would suggest Lusaka and CB have the highest Electoral votes to avoid situation where low information voters in remote rural areasn who normaly are clueless regarding pertinent issues of the day determine who the presidents are.

  253. Sata has pulled some good votes in Central eastern and southern, The 39 constituences covered out of 150 ,is more than half of the number of total voters. Hoping for jst 2 provinces for MMD will mean that Sata will get zero and there are not more than 80000 voters in the two provinces.

Some good econometrics still can work for RB under very special circumstances.

    Bushe balikuka ba mrs mwanawasa

    Kwati bwatoo

  254. A report just releases on Radio Phoenix:-

An MMD carder was caught red handed around 07:00hrs trying to stuff some already marked ballot papers in a ballot box at Munali High School. The man has been taken to Civic Center (Lusaka) where a hearing is underway and the man will be handed to the police thereafter while a complaint shall be launched to ECZ.

PF Munali MP confirmed the incidence and has questioned where the man got the premarked ballots from when ECZ Director refuted claims that some ballot papers were coming into Zambia dubiously.

    Kaya manje!

  255. What Sata has grabed from towns is not significant enough to give him strenght against the rural vote. Just imagine Chongwe which is extremly close to Lusaka, RB has about 10,000 and SATA about 4,400.
What Sata should have done was to maximise the town votes, but he not done that. RB has consistently almost maintained his 2nd position everywhere he has not won. It would be very premature to start building a reserviour of excitement. Wait for the authority of the rural vote. Someone will cry in venacular!

  256. #552, we are still here or atleast I am still here, the way things are going we are not doing very well, we might have to change strategy in future elections. At the same time we fully understand the possibilities of yet another by election as the old men come into state house. However, going by the way the results are coming if you are PF you might want to start thinking of your convention and a candidate for 2011.

  257. If the munali story is true why dont they declare all votes for the responsible candidate void? They can even extend it country wide as we dont know whats happened across the country. The Candidate should be disqualified!!!! like what happens when one is caught with leaked examination papers!!.PEACE TO ZAMBIA.

  258. 565 owaz remeber we have Professor VJ in our camp. Watch this space…the rigging is being done in the national interest to avoid wasting another K400 billion on another presidential by-election due to heart attack. Your figures can only be correct if you say more people voted this time compared to 2006. Otherwise they dont add up if you add 50 more constituencies

  269. Well, drama will start to unfold after lunch when rural votes start to trickle in. Zed enjoy your two madalas. Let me google my favourite candidate in the world Barack Obama.

  270. no more fantasy ,its reality game, seperating men from boys

    what a goal by satadinhoooo

Ripianhoo failes to collect the ball ,is playing long balls intercepted by PF defender , wat a game

  271. #582, Rex iwe, wi chita ifyo! nadwala, nadwala diarrhoea manje. Are we in Zambia ever going to be ruled by a person of our choice. ala we want change,

  272. 595 Look closely. Lots of new suprises. MMD losing in NW, Sata getting votes in Eastern and Kabwe! The boat looks good. We are not getting carried away just yet but we are good to go.

  273. we always let these still pet politicians get away with it….. 2001 we allowed Chiluba to drible us, 2006 – LPM did the same and now?!
for how long Zambians are we going to allow cheating in elections, whether Sata is a devil or not – it means the majority people have choosen him. so why take away that? this trend if continued to be allowed, we shall continue to have a fake democracy.

  274. Lord please let these elections result in a president fit to improve our country and its people and if anything at least maintain stability.

I love the way a lot of bloggers have been saying they want change. Do you people realise that not all change is good change??? well i guess its in God’s hands now

  275. Danger for RB
NW Does not look like a MMD Stronghold, however you are trying coz Sata is jst too strong to compete with RB

I see UBwafya for that troubled family

We mwina canada(canadian g friend) Kalilale ine lelo nshalale

  276. In older days, people were made to choose between a frog and KK, the choice was obvious. Today no one should think themselves an obvious choice. Let the pipo’s vote make sense please. By the way how did VJ’s treatment go ku soufa-africa. Elections something?

  277. 601. Musalu Wali Pesamba – epondi bakalamba. Just taking a low profile and hoping to take over when most locals are tired especially in the evenings.

  278. 608 Ubuntungwa mu Zambia – Been around for about three hours now. I just wish we had the 50%+1 vote rule so we have a runoff. This would really strengthen the legitimacy and mandate for the winner.

  279. #609 Apa pantu palewama! Kuti wakana no bwali. Bamunkoyo nimwe ndekonka sana data yenu. Chili kwati ilefuma pakapunda aka genuine filya mwaishiba. So napachungulo nakula konka fye nangu abo bambi ama locals banaka

  280. Sata was running now he is tired and has started crawling. Banda has a container of water by hi side. This is a marathon and by the time Sata will be looking for a glass of water RB will be spriting to the finish line.

  282. The ECZ will be releasing verified and official results in 30minutes time: (12:30hrs) Zambian Times. Kanshi Bane imitima panshi

  283. I’m surprised that you PF chaps you cant see it coming. Why do you think Judge Mumbe hasnt announced any more results since 9 hours. Iam just from Parliament building and all is set for RB’s inaugration tomorroe at 12 hours. The results I put up earlier are real because I got them from a very reliable source.

  284. Pipo wait and see wheather 300000 votes would be the difference between Sata and Rupiah it is by far easy for VJ and Don Chilu to do thier equations. but gents (VJ and Don Chilu) if u try this time I will cut off your Manhood and no Ragina and Mutinta

  285. REX
you do not apear to be well connected ,PF strategists have predicted a win for analysing the results from more than 141 constituencies

    source : inside PF

  286. Those pipo on the ground, are the results being announced by Florence tallying witht the ones on the zambiaelections.org website?
why the silence? could be VJ is cooking the rural polls. If this is the case, no need of voting, let us have a life president!!!! and forget about me coming to zambia again.

  287. The turn out for the constituencies announced in East is 45% down from 70% in 2006, for south it is 40% down from 67% in 2006 and for Northwest 39% down from 71% in 2006

  290. # 637…looking at those results it seems that SATA is ahead by 200,000 votes..It looks like he’s in for serious business this time around..

  291. #604 Sata was called names for having camped in Northern for a week+ while HH and RB went roller coaster. Chaliba player – they finished their rounds and Sata went round in all the places they had already passed. that is why i like Sata – man of Action.

  292. Imwe Ba #636 REX. Dont you think your reasoning is bit out of touch? The reality is Sata is doing fine at the moment. If you went to school, you can do some analysis and in the current elections he is doing well even in MMD and UPND strongholds. People are not saying he has won but it is clear that he is leading.

  297. So far MMD are second even after counting PF strongholds wait til we roll out NW, SP, EP, CP, WP where Sata will definately come out a distant third.

  298. Premarked ballots at Munali Constituency. Ala MMDs desperation ya chinfya.
Awe Mumbi Phiri is confirming and the media is at Civic Centre talking on Radio news right now.

  299. SP is HH not RB
NP, LP, CP CB, LSK P, Central, is Sata
    EP is RB
    NW, WP is split
    ha ha ha
    RB is losinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg

  300. Remove CP and SP, MMD is only hoping to win big in EP, NW and West. So far the pattern for SP is that HH is wining big but the difference between PF and MMD is in the rang of 1-3 thousand.

  301. thats how it is when people are suffering you you want to increase your salaries.mmd muzalila, viva pf. naimwa ba HH you should learn certain things in life.stop your people’s tribalistic manners.u could have just joined king ngoshe. and 2011 could have been yours.anyhow where is kelenka nevas? nevs should now learn from miyanda that being a vice president can make you feel big headed even to think that you can be real president.

  302. the percentage win for sata is going down at 51% from 60%, while RB and HH are increasing at 34% from 30 and 15% from 12% respectively. is RB trying to catch up?

  303. #659 but only less than one third of the poll has been counted with 80% ocoming from PF strongholds. lets wait and see; in the meantime one love bro. you and i are one. politicians will always be there good and bad. But we will always have to work hard regardless of who wins.

  305. # 666 PLEASE FROM WHICH PROVINCES ARE THOSE RESULTS. WE WANT TO DO SOME MATHS HERE. I CANNOT ACCESS THAT WEBSITE FOR RESULTS.

  306. All data shows that PF is leading, so if MMD suddenly wins what does that mean? Basopo ka! Balefwaya uku fi pasanganya!

  307. This is good. Viva LT for providing this platform. The bloggers are much more upto date than the papers. Thanks guys. Keep the results coming.

  308. People watch out I ve just visited the Watchdog of ZNBC-AKA is boasting that they(mmd)will win. Where is that confidence coming from?

  309. Actually we are very far from determining who the winner is. And there is no need for anyone or any institution to concentrate on announcing results from constituencies where their prefered candidate is doing fine to make him appear to be doing too well. it is not necessary because we are no longer campaigning after all. Just imagine if they had started with Southern province, it would have beeen very wrong for HH to call fro a party. Anyone who knows the map of Zambia and also knows the coverage and strengths os our political parties cannot start to think of celebrating now, too too early. Wait and see! I am worried that someone may cry in venacular after final results.

  310. If i was PF, i would be open to realility other than avoid it and so deceive myself. Soon PF strongholds will finish and will will begin to see the reverse of what is on the ground nationalwide. Zambia is not mere major towns and a few district centres but wide. In fact, when it comes to counting of votes the vote of guy who does not even know how to read and write is the same as the vote coming from a doctor in politics or engineering. So beware of the vote that comes from the rural zambia. Villagers have a lot of authority in deciding who rules Zambia. Wait and see!

  311. I must say am disappointed with these results but hey that’s democracy.Let the people’s choice rule. But it not over until the fat lady has sang

  312. if the mmd goverment must win these elections they must do so on merit . because the minds of the people are not the same. not all days are sundays.

  313. #678, if Sata wins, then I am afraid that that is the best we can do as a country. Sad but this election is about popularity, not common sense. HH is the common sense choice and Sata is the popular choice. RB is just malabishi, wasting everyone’s time and trying to jump on a sympathy vote that does not exist.

  314. Miyanda has been beaten in many constituencies by a candidate called VOIDED. Uyu wiine VOIDED mukali basopo!!

  315. From the look of things sata is winning, wat a shamae, all the kaponyas will be in state house on there boats to vadalise. i fear for my families in zed, wish could whisk them away from the incoming vandales.

  316. It will be the darkest Friday in Zambian history if RB or Sata is pronounced winner of this election.

    Viva HH!!!!!

  317. 685 tell the mmd that there quite alot sata strong areas not yet included to the current 458,700 he has gannered so far. so 50/50 but a bird in the hands…. RB is not LPM

  318. My main concern in all this is how possible is it that counting of votes in small places is taking longer than say for example mandevu. It’s becoming increasingly worrying. ECZ need a total overhaul after this election, we need more efficiency. HH in 2011 people lets get reed of the old guns.

  326. Looks like the gaps is closing. Not long ago it was over 200k. Now it is 173k. I guess all urban areas have been counted. When do they expect to have all votes, by weekend?

  327. #691, I realize that the majority of people who don’t want Sata to become President are scared because they are either lazy or have cobwebs full of corruption that they were involved in the past. Sata is a deliver and he has a track record. The main thing most people seem to detest about Sata is his choice of words but I personally don’t care about his language if he speaks the truth. I am “Bemba” but would like to see HH win to see what kind of fresh and youthful ideas he can bring in to change the fortunes of development into prosperity and eradicate poverty. It doesn’t matter which region and tribe the next president comes from as long as they are Zambian. RB is born Zimbabwean.

  328. Natuwina kala!!!!Don’t play nowato iwe!!!Walabunda!!!!!What’s MMD??We don’t want u any more!!!Namuntendia nobufi!!!!!!

  329. I think this is old news.112 constituencies have been counted and Sata still leads while MMD slowly closes gap.though sata even if he winds by 500 votes would still be president.
All results should be in Today for swearing in ceremony on Sunday.

  330. #700, I agree with you. MMD has always been full of corrupt politicians. They have taken Zambians for granted and it’s about time they were shown the door. They are a bunch of opportunists and you can tell by how many and how quick they are thinking about defecting to PF because they are like rats that can smell a nut far away and go for it.

I congratulate SATA and HH for their strong showing.

  347. Maestro me too im signing off to respect the day of the Lord. Nsabata imbotu, Nsabata ya leza.
Join you all after sunset here in the UK hoping by then the president has been announced. God bless

  348. Well, to me, a person who rejects the votes even before voting starts, he is phony. Mr Sata is a grade 4 joke! He thinks he will dribble all of us. No way, Sir. I wrote here about a week ago. I said PF will lose in the rural areas because those people didn’t appreciate a campaign based on Lower taxes. Why? They have no jobs!!! That was a silly strategy. It worked in the copperbelt with miners who wanted Xmas bonus with low tax. Very short-sighted people, indeed. The villagers didn’t buy this view. This was not a man of action they wanted. RB reduced fertilizer by over 200%. That was a man of action for the peasants and farmers. He is a true revolutionary. Grow more food!!!

  349. There was a chap here who kept screaming with “Pabwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaato”. Where’s he? I guess the villages have just saved him from this self-imposed ruler, Sata. I say self-imposed because he has NEVER been elected by his Party. Can somebody tell us when Mr Sata was adopted by his Party?

RB stood for elections with more than 4 others and he won. He united his colleagues and they moved on. Did he rig the internal elections? No. Sata did. He dribbled his Party and circumvented an internal election. Who is taking us for granted? Of course, it is Satan! Villages don’t low taxes, they have no jobs. They wanted fertiliser. Lets move on, we are all ZAMBIANS!!

  350. ITS NOW TIME PF AND UPND POOLED THEIR RESOURCES (VOTES) TO DISLODGE MMD. THIS IS THE CALL FROM EVERY WELL MEANING ZAMBIAN WITH INTEREST AT HEART TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. WE ZAMBIANS ARE HUMBLY ASKING BOTH PARTIES TO BURY THEIR HATCHETS AND JOIN HANDS. WE DO NOT WANT MMD/UNIP AGAIN. THERE IS TOO MUCH POVERTY IN THE COUNTRY WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, PF, UPND PLEASE PUT TOGETHER YOUR VOTES AND KICK OUT MMD. THANKS.

  351. Ndaakona lino basa. Ndiya kulibonya kuzyopamaanza kulibaboobatika zunde. Aabo batikazyundwe ndizi kubapa imajwi aabeledde. Mupone cibotu no bantu a cisi cesu toonse tobana Zambia.
