Atlas Lions Confirm Friendly against Zambia

Share

Morocco have confirmed they will host Zambia in international friendly this month.

According to the Atlas Lions website, Morocco will host Zambia in Rabat on November 19 in one of two friendly matches for the north African giants confirmed for the next four months.

“The Atlas Lions of Morocco will play two friendlies: 19 November against Zambia and 11 February 2009 against Czech Republic,” the site said.

This will be the second time Zambia and Morocco will face-off in a friendly international this year.

Morocco beat Zambia 2-0 on January 12 in Fez in the two nations build-up to the Africa Cup finals held in Ghana that same month.

  1. Great news. We need to beat them. Use the best players so that we make the best team. Call back old pros if they want like Sichone if they want. If they refuse for friendlies then give them no hopes when we qualify to world cup.

  2. Its a good match up and wil give us a feel of n/african football. Faz should organise friendly games on every fifa international day!

  3. I agree with # 4,let us use the strongest team we have at the moment for this friendly. This is for the seek of the fifa ranking and good preparations for the Africa and world cup Qualifing matches. If we built a strong team will be able to get a win or force a draw at their own soil but if turn to lose even friendlies,we will drop places at the fifa ranking and no big team will want play us for friendlies in future.

  4. The friendlies will only make sense if we are able to mobilise atleast 80 percent of the players likely to be featured during the World Cup qualifiers.

This is where FAZ gets it wrong, you pick local players for a friendly, but when Egpyt and Algeria come beckoning, it is a complete new team that pitches up.

  5. I agree with you guys. We need to concentrate on how to beat the Arabs. If it is possible go camp in Morocco and play clubs like Rabat Casablanca and then move the camp to Tunisia get a game with the national team and a select side, play some games with Esperance or Fwayo Tembo’s club. Train right in their back yard for a couple weeks before playing Egypt. This will help the boys get used to the hostile Arab environment. Right now, Egypt and Algeria are the biggest obstacles to South Africa 2010. If we can beat these two teams I see no reason why Zambia won’t qualify to the World Cup.

  6. Renard should field the strongest team possible. No baseless personal differences. Renard’s hatred for Sinkala cannot be explained. We Zambians want him to play, if we lose it is Zambia’s record at stake. Renard will have got his money.

This is the time to expose all potential players. No time for experiments anymore.

  7. Wow, I love this. Thats the way to go Zambia. We need good friendly games. I just hope this is true and the deal will not flop. Now FAZ should recall all deserving players. Do not only use local and SA players. Call all deserving european players. November 19 will be a FIFA appointed date for friendlies. Lets use this opportunity to bulild a strong team in preparation for the afcon and wc qualifiers.

  8. If FAZ could focus on the games instead of what money they’ll make for themselves or where they’ll visit it would better. I’m sure there will be so many irrelevant people in Morocco that it will be too expensive to organise another friendly. Getting friendlies isn’t that hard.

  9. FAZ should call all players. Players will be free as it will be on a FIFA date. There will be no excuses this time around. Bo fun grudges by the coach towards certain players. Sinkala, Chansa and some deserving players from Sweden and Finland should also be given a chance to prove themselves. Like somebody said above, we use different players in friendly games from those who will play in the qualifiers. FAZ please this time around no room for pre-meditated mistakes. Grow up guys. I have already saved enough for WC and I want to watch Zambia here.

  10. I have not yet accepted RB’s presidency, but am still proud of my country.Viva chipolopolo boys we are behind you till 2010 when we will be watching you live in South Africa.

  11. FAZ, whatever happened to Bernard Makufi? Did his knee injury persist? If not he surely must have matured into a formidable and mature player by now?

  12. Our strongest team is the 2nd weakest in the Group. Thats my problem. Our players are sold for a song in kangaroo leagues. Amir Zaki da Egyptian centre forwrd is the joint top scorer in UK.We need to have a master plan to stop him. top players have always caused us problem Adebayor, Eto etc. So whilst we play friendlies which I’m sure our opponets wil spie on, we should have a master plan. rememebr the Cameroon drabing we got at Africa Nations cup. Our defenders timmid of great players.

Heed my advise or it will be too late again like MMD winning because we did not vote (aparthy) and we stand aloof not knowing what will hit us.Pipo have said Football unites us in Zambia. I agree in grief

  13. i pledge to mark Amr Zaki, Renard call me up. i’m telling you. i’ll take him to Sampfya and leave him there without anyone noticing until 90 minutes yapwa. as long as Kennedy Nketani is never called up again!!

  14. Thats a good development and i hope all the players will be available and should put the interest of the nation at heart and not money!!all the best…

  15. Our league will end in November posibily with lack 1st week of December till March / April 2009 meaning 4 – 5 Month of Inactivity chibuku drinking and other vices by our local players. the weather wont even be friendly and we have no all weather stadia. but we still hope our overated over feted players who sleep in 5 start hotels during taining will rise to the occassion. the writing on the wall. I want Zambia to go to WC but Kalu and friends dont inspire me,

  16. #15, #16 and #18 worthy contributions though #16 comical in nature. However I agree with #15 and #18 observations. we leave things on auto pilot until we crush out. Going to WC is serious business but pa Zed too casual. Politics too casual, everything too casual. why bane is it so???
The local league goes off on recess at a wrong time but unavoidable no stadias to handle wet season. look at re-hab of Independencec Stadium??? A joke like Nyama Soya. Dag up to now razed and never rebuilt. we should cancel even hositing all africa games we incapable. Period.

  17. The friendly match is welcome and i think its going to give the Chipolopolo boys good preparations for the qualifiers.I suggest that the Technical Team and FAZ in general should pyschy the players because football is no longer about names is about 11 players each at the given time.

  18. @21. ni Kung Fu versus China on that date. later on we shall proceed to Woodlands stadium to play morocco.
bad joke guys. i’m just in a humorous mood this morning.

  19. I stopped watching our own team play coz most of the times they dissapoint me.I have to nurse myself for a very long time after the loss.

  20. As you all know, Am a petient, If I continue watching ba Zambia it means that I’ll kill myself with heart attack

  21. #22 Obama Advisor… So far Obama is leading so far, I’m sure you are aware. We the Africans will rule the world,,,,,,,

  22. yell good start for our team but i only urge the coach to call up even those players in europe so that they start together as one.

  25. Papita ntawi since we played Morocco. A strategic move, one I actually applaud FAZ for. Mwayesako apa peve mwe!

  26. Thats a positive move ba faz but this nonsense of holding grudges agaist some playaz wont take us anywhere.so ba kalu na ka coach kenu call all deserving playaz otherwise zambias failure to qualify will be blamed on you two.
