Maureen pays tribute to State House staff

Share

Former first lady, Maureen Mwanawasa, has paid glowing tribute to State house staff for the support, love and kindness they rendered to the first family in the last seven years.

Mrs. Mwanawasa said the State House staff was very committed and dedicated to duty, a situation she wished all workers in the country could have.

She said the staff made the stay of the first family easy at State House because of the cooperation, love and hard work from the workers.

She was speaking at State House during the farewell luncheon with State House staff today.

“I wish to express my deep sense of gratitude for the support, love and kindness you showed to the late President, myself and our family during our seven year we have stayed here,” she said.

Mrs. Mwanawasa, who lost her husband, President Levy Mwanawasa in August this year, said she has since moved out of State House to pave way for the incoming President, Rupiah Banda, and his family.

She explained that the State House staff had been with the first family in both bad and good times.

She said this created a strong bond between the first family and the workers.

The former First Lady also thanked spouses of the State House staff for their understanding when their husbands and wives were away on duties.

Mrs. Mwanawasa, who also apologized for any wrong doing to the workers, has since urged the State House staff to embrace the incoming President and cooperate with him because this was their duty.

And Mrs. Mwanawasa would soon launch a book entitled “The President’s Menu” whose proceeds would be channeled towards retirement benefits for kitchen staff at State House.

And Principal Private Secretary to the President, Alfred Chipoya, said parting company with the former first family would be a difficult situation to understand for State House staff.

Mr. Chipoya said Mrs. Mwanawasa, together with her late husband, always provided motherly advice, love and guidance to the members of staff, hence the first family would be remembered forever.

He also presented a gift to the former first lady as a sign of appreciation of her motherly conduct towards State House staff.

Meanwhile, Chief Analyst for Press and Public Relations at State House, David Kombe said in a vote of thanks that the State House staff was ready to work with whichever president.

Mr. Kombe said State House staff was committed to serve the nation regardless of who was in the State House.

  1. Mr. Kombe should not forget that his appointment came with Mwanawasa and was not guranteed. Others are also looking forward to serve the Country and he should be prepared for the emerging competition and presidential preferences. Every President chooses people he can work with and tha will be the case with RB. State House staff have every right to miss the LPM family and they should not be surprised if they are asked to step aside in the RB regime.

  2. Presidents menu, my a**. if she had taken good care of her husband he would have been alive. she should have advised him not to run for second term and helped him control his eating habits. we will be haveing another bye-election soon coz RB is another time bomb. the dude cant even stay awake!!!1111

  3. LT you did hear about SATA’s press conference today? Stopping talking about Maureen there so many widows in Zambia now. They also need attention instead of sleeping on Lusaka roads trotting from one office to another looking theirs huby’ benefits.

Mapushi’s wife, where is she??? shame!!! As for Banda, it will be all the UNIPISTS and ‘Chadiza Tree’. Oh! by the way expect some brothers and sisters from Zimbabwe as new workers in State House after all Banda has relatives in Zimbabwe wako ni wako!!

As for Morini she merely thanked her relatives!!!the Kakubos, Mapushisi… the tree has too many leaves, forgive me, i can’t count all the leaves!!!Woh

  8. Someone should inform this widow that she did not achieve anything for her to be in state house, it was an ascribed status and not achieved status. They stayed in medium house in olympia extension, I dont know where she is getting the powers to refuse a house a house in Roma

  9. Iwe 21, you mean you are interested in the most popular widow in town Maureen? Has she been cleansed yet by the LPM family? Ukasendapofye ichiwa.

  10. Iwe Kombe, remember no condition is permanent. Naiwe kuya bebele. leka naifwe tuteyeko umupila waku State House. Every coach grooms his own team.

  11. Paying tribute to the staff for what? hunting down all the state house game (impala’s, nkanga’s, kalukuluku’s etc, etc). You cant see any of these animals passing near state house these days…

  12. GUYS- TOPIC .I would like to open up a fund that Zambians and other people willing to contribute to the development of our country can contribute money. i do NOT intent to do the projects alone i intend to work with business communites in Zambia and other communities. These are things like covering areas in town which are delapidated, such as side walks and putting tile bricks in town, covering the dusty areas of the towns, and neighbouring places to the towns and cities.WHAT DO YOU SAY? I WILL PUT UP A WEBSITE SOON

  13. #32 your project is too wide what exactly do you want to do?? Town rebilitation! my answer is a big NO! pick a Compound or a Township, the Govt has all the money to work in Towns. Your project should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Archievable, Relevant, Time Bound. I shall help

  14. #32 your project is too wide what exactly do you want to do?? Town rebilitation! my answer is a big NO! pick a Compound or a Township, the Govt has all the money to work in Towns. Your project should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Archievable, Relevant/Realistic, Time Bound. I shall help

  15. seriously guyz, why are u hating on Mr Kombe?? Has he ever done or spoken anything wrong to u?? Leave the man alone…He knows he will never work at state house forever,so why u making a big deal out of it??why shud u politicize everything….Lets just be fair & leave the man do his job in peace. If RB chooses his own team let it be,so what???

  16. I am looking at rehabilitation as well as eliminating compounds, those that are said to be illegal settlemnt areas, but the government have allowed people.in other words shanties, but i thought those for later we first look at what we have.Fix them make them look beautiful to attract people to come and settle to attract investment to the town. The other thing about starting with shties is that for example Katondo, which is in kabwe which is highly populated with lead, it will cost $15 billion dollars. To just clear the land and cover it up.But then will many people be ready to donate that?If yes then We can start with that and work with the government, but first building houses where cont.

  17. ..cont.. These people will go after removing them from the houses so that the land can be cleared. And covered to stop more people being poisoned in there blood. These government have just being sensitizing people and they have been saying they will work on removing the people from that settlemnt area but nothing has been done towrds that.As they dont know where to take the people.Thats something we can add on our project thanks. We do have intentions to reove shanties and have better houses and and how to have those people maintain the houses. There many things i would have mentioned it just space that is not allowing me to put more information i hope to put it on the website am making.

  20. There should have been a provision made by LT on their website to allow bloggers introduce topics for debate. This system of just waiting for LT to bring up topics is making this site boring. When pipo are bored they start debating even nonsense. That’s how shanty compounds are ever in baby boom because pipo there have nothing to do apart from doing their wives day in and day out.

  26. “When asked about people attributing apathy to lack of delivery of promises by politicians, Hakainde said that was why Zambia needed change…He also said governments of national unity were destructive to Africa and Zambia did not need that.”

I like your idea and im aware of the lead problem in Kabwe, I suggest
You also look up the concept used to modify slums on the island of Barbados to assist you with your project.
