Share

The Communications Authority of Zambia has bought equipment to be used in monitoring standards of services offered by mobile phone service providers.

The Authority spent K2.9 billion to buy Quality of Service standards equipment launched by Communication Deputy Minister, Mubika Mubika.

Mr. Mubika said the equipment will not only help follow up complaints from subscribers but also improve service provision.

Communications Authority Acting Director General, Richard Mwanza said the equipment will be based in Livingstone and Kitwe while Lusaka will have a mobile monitoring equipment.

Mr. Mwanza said the equipment will be able to detect network failures and publish quarterly reports to both subscribers and mobile phone companies.

He said the authority hopes that with this new equipment, service providers will improve their operations.

  1. GOOD NEWS,too many missed cals when someone is just 2metres apart!
#1 pipo,am about to knockoff, its friday..lets drink with dignity…

  2. It’s long overdue when did people start complaining about missed calls and you just dream to buy the equipment now..Are you kolokombwas going to refund us the money for the billed calls and texts we never made especially with Zain? This should have been done years ago when cell companies started coming up.

Good, but are we subscribers going to have access to the quarterly report so that we too as stakeholders can check what is happening?

  4. Zain will never improve. They will always chew our money threw bad service and then blind us with their corporate social responsibility. Friday njikata!!

  5. #9, they might improve some day. This why I claim that:

Zain operates like PF, Zamtel like MMD and lastly but not the list MTN’s practising of service delivery is synonymous to the mighty UPND.

MTN like UPND appeals to progressive subscribers who want real services that touch people’s lives. The work with efficiency, but keep a set of well behaved clients.

Have a great day you all. Be blessed with a benign Sabbath day the real weekend as Sunday is a week-start.

  6. Its about time, telecoms in Zambia is so expensive as though its not enough the service is pathetic. Long overdue hoping they improve their services.

  7. Chaps at CAZ are technically backward. They claim to technology neutral and yet they treat GSM services as if its the only type of service that needs proper planning for frequency. Neutral my foot. . .

  8. CAZ. . . They have too much money and nothing to do with it but take expensive trips and have nonsense workshops all over the world. They have no idea why they exist. Their idea of competition is to have a load of foreigners running the show in Zed. They are unpatriotic chaps having illegal aliances with foreigners. We see them, corrupt chaps. Always in league with Zain over the International Gateway issue. They have been paid. . .

  9. I hope the equipment is not some more waste of money. I have had some brushes with these chaps and they don’t seem to know the first thing about GSM Technology. May be they should think about employing people who have been in the GSM radio work for some time before they can take on the industry. They strike me as blank most of their engineers. I hope I am wrong.

  10. This is a good idea. I however encourage govt to allow more telecom service providers like VODACOM or something. We need more competition in the industry or else service will never improve. But good move.

I can see PF cadres are on the attack again.

  11. Well done CAZ. I hope you’ll use the acquired technology to help service providers improve.

Work together as partners in development. The time to threaten each other is longer over. We’re in a hurry to develop the nation…

  12. ok but 2.8 billion and we have no fire engines in the city, lets be real.Zain or MTN systems will always fail at some point.Am sure they will be fast to hit on these guys but what happens when Zamtel fails to deliver? Who pays? Open up the gate way pipo plise calls in Zed are so expensive,am just wondering who monitors the Monitors CAZ?Ok lets wait and see for now.

  13. Cool, you have a point… Who monitors the monitors?
Why don’t people complain when Zamtel fails? Why only complain when Zain or MTN are having network challenges?

  14. Caz! congrats!
stil stealing tax payers’ money? Only hoping that the law wil not catch up wit you tomorow… watch your steps! Its unfair for you to capitalize on zambia’s basic knowledge in telecoms for your stingy benefits.

Telecoms men knows wat i’m talking abt!
