President Banda flanked by incoming local government minister Ben Tetamashimba and Defence minister George Mpombo

President Rupiah Banda has asked newly appointed government officials to ensure that they work hard and contribute to addressing the challenges of global financial melt down Zambia was currently facing.

Mr. Banda said this at State House today when he swore in Special Assistant to the President for Political Affairs, Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika and Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration in the Office of the Vice President, Davies Sampa.

President Banda described Mr. Lewanika as one with a better understanding of national, regional and African politics.

He urged Mr. Lewanika, who is also one of the founding members of the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), to work hard and help strengthen the party and the government.

And speaking to journalist after swearing in, Mr. Lewanika said his appointment was a privilege for him to contribute to government and serve the country.

He has since pledged to do his best by ensuring that President Banda succeeds in serving the nation.

Others sworn in are Permanent Secretary in charge of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Justice, Anne Sitali and Chief Analyst for Press and Public Relations at State House, Dickson Jere.

President Banda urged Mr. Jere to clarify issues and challenges currently affecting the country in the wake of the global financial crisis and plummeting copper prices.

Mr. Banda expressed confidence that Mr. Jere will work efficiently in discharging his duties of explaining to the citizens of Zambia, the critical time the nation is going through.

He said Mr. Jere should explain to Zambians the reality of reduced copper prices because the resource was a key to the economy of the country.

To Mr. Sampa, President Banda said the former should use his long experience in the civil service to assist the Vice President, who is also Minister of Justice, to discharge his duties efficiently.

Mr. Banda described Mr. Sampa, who is his former senior private secretary when he was the vice president, as a loyal civil servant to the government and urged him to continue working hard in his new office.

And President Banda said he had no doubt that the newly appointed Ministry of Justice Permanent Secretary for Legal Affairs, Anne Sitali, will utilize her professionalism and knowledge of legal matters to efficiently discharge her duties.

Meanwhile newly appointed Chief Analyst for Press and Public Relations, Dickson Jere, pledged to develop cordial relations with the media in the country with the aim of informing the nation efficiently.

Mr. Jere, who described his appointment as a challenge, said he will endeavor to address the challenges pointed out by President Banda.

  1. The Citizens Democratic Party has posted the Draft Manifesto; see why the party is different and more Zambians are joining.

    Type as ONE Word;

  2. What small economies like Zambia needs is a small Govt most especially in a time like this,It is time to freeze hire and those who are dying are not to be replaced. It looks like common left Zambia when the British left.

  3. Aka-Failed and Recycled Politician #999 on Zambia’s list of “How NOT to be an Effective Politician”. These appointees are tried and true failures!

Big ups to #3- Consistent with advertising CDP. That is Zambia’s future party- I sgree. There’s no party in Zambia with a platform so different and unique At least Mr “Zed1” today you’ve made it in the top 10 Comments not the last 10.

  4. why do we keep bringing in exhausted old men in zed? i thought life expectancy was 39 yrs old.Why can’t these chaps live up to our expectations for once :”>

  5. ZED, tapali ichobe for the coming 50 years, ninsala fye nobulanda nokuilishanya until bonse abalumendo bakasanguke abakote, shame on you. Bunda bwakulanda landa ati iyo, we brought liberation to zimbabwe, imwe, you think ama zezulu baikele fye? :)>-

  6. People I think we can do something in 2011. My stats show mw that there are more 18 to 30 years old in Zambia than those above 30 years. And if we can get the block to vote in Mass we can put in a young leader. Not Sata, not HH(loser lost twice), not RB.

The trick will be to do the work during vote registration. Set up young people movement in every town and if it means paying young people to register we should do it. Provide transport for every your person to go register. We need volunteer in every city. We just can’t sit and let these guys ruin this country and let choose that young leader in a transparent democratic way like primaries across the whole Zambia. I know this needs money

  7. ctd from #5 I know this needs money, but this is my idea and let those who can mobilise cash do it. Why should we let these recycled politicans keep doing this to us while we blog away. We can do something guys. Lets energise the young to vote. We are in the mojority. These recycled people have always won because not many younf people vote. Lets make 2011 a turning point for Zambia. We can outvote the these established policians who we keep recycling

  8. All those pipo Levy did away with are back. RB is the most president corrupt president Zed as ever produced through rigging the elections. Zed is an eye sore and a black skull of the shadow of modern politics.I know the truth pains and those with relatives in this corrupt govt will not see the skull this MMD govt will leave for future generations. Big govt in a poor of the poorest country in the world. Few days ago a child died because of eating poisonous roots due to hunger. Those fat politicians are eating and throwing food stuffs. Villagers you are paying the price for your lack of understanding. K50.000 fertiliser during elections today K300.000.
Shame ECZ and the law enforcing agents

  9. Guys we are in trouble as a Country Bunga wandula we are buying 25kg at K90,000 here in Solwezi. As who are in employment can afford but what about the Villagers who voted for this Rejected Band or RB?

  10. Hey,this was expected.Aka has been rewarded for helping RB in the Campaigns,he even resigned from his position as ACC commissioner. You think he could do that if he didnt see some soup ahead. And now just wait, you wil see Nevers Mumba,Kopulande, Syakwiba Sikota, being rewarded. Chalikwata timing chi RB,he didnt want to do it fast he knew that people would have criticised him strongly. But some of these positions he is creating, are not even important. He is just adding to the already bloated system. When there are so many problems in the country,he is just pilling old, tired finished useless and jammed medula oblangaters. Pa Zambia bwafya!

  11. You want to win? Just promise jobs at State House and all mummies from the archives will come to life. This is Zambia going back 150 years. Cant say 44 years because that time we are better than countries such as Chile. Young ones do something dont let these cobweb politicians keep on pleasing themselves. Me am past my time. The ball is in your net

  12. I saw RB on ZNBC coming to swear in his latest appointees. The man has a really funny walk. He walks like some zombie or an animal i can not describe. All these appointments are not m,eant to add value to government, but just to bloat it and have a lot of praise singers to consolidate his hold over MMD, so that come 2011 they all sing one chorus that RB should continue cause of his good policies. Zambia has always had Presidents with good policies, especially to their cadres.

  13. The more i read about these sad developments my heart bleeds to see how Zambia a beautiful country being spoiled by the selfish individuals. Levy i mourn you. RIP :o:o

  14. Ba RB sure, for sure paliba timing, how can you bring back that chap AKA who is finished , i wonder if the young people will ever get positions. on Dickson popularly known as DJ by fellow Journalists; the chaps loves money and he is corrupt, ask MISA Zambia members.this confirms that birds of the same feathers flock together, Dickson mu plot 1? Bwafya mwandi, Zambia twasebana!!!!!!! please ba Banda you can better appointments man not DJ, umuyo for such a position. You will now now see how he will be ‘screwing’ to borrow Shakas words, girls, parents with gilr children lock them up please DJ is on the loose with the resources at State house now!

  15. IT PAYS TO BE IN POLITICS. A PROFESSOR, A DOCTOR, A PROFESSIONAL IS NOTHING IN ZED. SEE THOSE TWO MEN HELPING RB, THEY ARE STINKING RICH. FINALLY, I AM ANNOUNCING THAT DUE TO PUBLIC DEMAND, I HUMBLY JOIN POLITICS. IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM…

  16. Pipo we are in trouble. The 3 years will seem like forever as long as RB is in power. So what post will be given to Nevers. Let me guess “Special assistant for Religious Affairs” :((

  17. That is ok let see and how AKA will work. He is just being Used and he will be dumped again. If presidents were serious people they were suppose to use AKA as finance minister that where he can work well but Pa zed greedy people block there friends **==**==

  18. Two lawyers arrive at the pub and ordered a couple of drinks. They then take sandwiches from their briefcases and began to eat.

Seeing this, the angry publican approaches them and says, ‘Excuse me, but you cannot eat your own sandwiches in here!’

The two look at each other, shrug and exchange sandwiches.

  19. This is not strange as it was expected. Next, Nawakwi(special advisor for young chicks affairs), Mumba(special advisor for shirt and Tie combination), Saki(special advisor for trying to ensure speech without reading) and Tilyenji (special advisor without portifolio). We Know these things. More money in their pocktes.

  20. Why bring back Aka in the system? This chap has no direction; he is like “a decapitated chicken”. There are so many very intelligent young men and women out there. “People must remember that you can never teach an old dog new tricks” – for those of us who keep dogs.

This is why we have so many problems in our mother Zambia, like losing innocent babies because power outage at the largest health institution in the country.

  21. Like everyone else, I had some respect for AKA especially for his analysis. Anyway, until his rhetoric was proven for what it actually is, plain and useless rhetoric. These are not people you need to give you advice, they can’t even point to one economic or politcal theory that they espoused and went on to work…AKA could not even run his own party…so far, RB has just been proving us the doubters right. No hope Zambia. 🙁

  22. I just recycled my trash, but at least I got something out of it. Lets hope Zambia will can get something out of this recycling program RB has embarked on.

  23. This is just a way of thanking him and there are many more people to be appreciated by RB, even those from opposition. Aka as we all know has always been a job seeker

  24. Susie’s husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day. One day as he slipped back into consciousness, he motioned for her to come close to him. She pulled the chair close to the bed and leaned her ear close to be able to hear him.

“You know” he whispered, his eyes filling with tears, “you have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you stuck right beside me. When my business went under, there you were. When we lost the house, you were there. When I got shot, you stuck with me. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. “And you know what?”

    “What, dear?” she asked gen

  25. I think pa zed bwafya to say the least; how can we honestly allow such appointments in the midst of hunger and poverty? Baby M and many other babies died at UTH because loadsheding and we are quiet, pipo are eating roots and we’re quiet…….Lesa twafweni.

  26. I saw it coming!!! RB he is just appoint people anyhow, regardless our their morals, as long as you helped him compaigning u’ve got the job, That not the way it surpose to be Mpuno ikulu, u cann’t please everyone Nyama Soya.

  27. What do you expect from a sleeping man? AKA is a dissappointment to Zambians. Let him be and we will see what political advise he will render to Lundani Nyoma Soya.

  28. i think the big man is rash/unwise there are just using him, let wait after three years from now he will be like…..

we use a bridge in the course of………… :d:((:d/:-?:-w

  29. We want young ones in govmt.why owez givn jobs to old ones? Mr banda try to choose young ones in gvmt,we are the leaders of tomrw so pliz train us now.

  30. Since RB went to state house the only thing he has done so far is just making appointments. Some of these appointment are nothing but a duplication of work. What WILL aka be doing at state house? Is it going to add any value to economic development of this country?Maybe it is the only way of rewarding the unpricippled AKA for prostituting himself with the MMD.

  31. Ma zedians, Aka is the right man for the job, what about you what role can u play in govt. DJ is equally qualified. He is editor and fopunder of executive issues a well renown monthly publication. He is corageous and extremely intelligent. He will do the job. The problem with you critics, I mean armchair critics is that when an appointment is made you to see it from a money perspective. It is about work. Dickson is young and I wonder why you cannot commend RB for appointing young people in govt. Isntt this what youve been crying for. As for ba PF (Poor Finishing) go for the convention.

  32. Aka is and has never been a solution to our politcal problems. The idea of rewarding people based on how loud they chanted slogans during the campaigns is detrimental to our democracy. We should appoint people based on true valuse of professionalism.

This a serious challenge that we need to address as Zambians.
AKA will and shall never be an answer to our problems.

  33. i am very disapointed with RB. it seems he does not know what to do.why get people who have made absolutly insignificant contribution to the country except TALK. RB U ARE SO GONE IN 2011.

  34. There are not many people in Zambia that enjoy analysis.
Many think that analysis does not make sense.
For example right now, many people would not want to analyse the causes of the rise in food prices not only in Zambia but globally.
All they would like to hear is someone who will say, ‘Let us demonstrate so that prices go down”.
This is no wonder people are unable to stand AKA, because in the first place they are unable to stand analysis.
If you cause a lot of criticism whether genuine or not, if you can steer people to demonstrate, then they will love you and call you ‘man of action’
AKA can not appeal to many Zambians because not many want to exhibit capacity to analyse issues.

  35. Teta is a very dull minister, how can he be warning Zambians that they risk catching cholera if they hold demos. He was saying this in Ndola that people should avoid being in a huge gathering because they would risk catchind cholera. This is a very useless and unfounded threat from Teta. what cholera is he talking about when people are dying of hunger? Teta, please watch your mouth

  36. =d> Fine u spot on just look at the comments on the blog no one has tried to analyse why RB is epmloying these out of favour politicians.Like i have said previously we the youth are to blame if the young went out to campaign for RB they would have had these jobs.Dont blame RB its time we joined politics and not just talk politics

  37. We all knew it would happen!! Recycled over and over again. He just had to appoint his best friend..Beloved Zambia, I dont know if we will ever see new blood with new ideas to take us forward!! All we get are finished politicians with pot bellies …..

  38. That Dickson Jere is the editor of executive issues which was used by MMD for their election propaganda.Besides, nimungoni like RB.I met him about 3 to 4 months ago by comfort lodge with Emmanuel Tembo,ET and they were like, mukwasu, now is the time to chew!!Watch the this space, next to be appointed is Emmanuel Tembo,ET,Kelvin Sampa(Davies Sampa’s brother-mentioned in article above),Caine Mweemba, etc.Even that fat boy Amon Jere will be appointed soon. This is real vulture politics.

  39. honestly, i have prayed that what we are currently going through is nothing more than a nightmare. Is this real? Is RB President? Is TETA real? Is Mpombo (that name please)real? [-o<[-o<

  40. It’s the same old story. One was recently resurrected from his death bed to become a provincial minister. Shear miracles hey! 😮

  41. Mheeee!AKA Fails in anything he deos, that old barotse elite is overused and ineffective just like RB. We need fresh brains in there! forget their experience, they have been failing and all they know is failing, huh let me get back to my grass, Mheeee!

  42. RB is in consolidation mode right now. His eyes are now set for 2011 and he is really now putting the structure in place. He is sure to have AKA deliver Western Province for him. People we need to do something we can’t have these people run our country as a persoanl to holder ..as young people we are in the majority we can do something, we just need a young candidate who we can rally around just as the US did. We really can do it people. Lets target voter registration and get the young to register in enmase. We can change the direction of our country. It’s possible..sorry I have to borrow this-YES WE CAN Young zambians

  43. Ba #54 naimwe, next you will tell us that Teta, Mulyata,Kadobi,Munkombwe, and Goliati are endowed with tools of analysis. Zambian politics is for the shallow minded. There is no room for serious pipo. What happened to Prof Clive? He was told to begin at Ward level;which ward did RB start from? Ask William Nyirenda(eminent lawyer) about his experience as Mayor of Kitwe!! the man has vowed never to be anywhere near politics. What a country!!!

  44. #60. Rashid Jones,
Teta is right to say that demos will bring cholera.
Why do you argue, do you want him to come out more cleverer than you?
You dont need much analysis to understand what Teta is saying.
Demonstrations have capacity to destroy and cause governance difficult. This has potential to disturbalise provision of services which could include water, foods ect. This may also temper with medical services delivery. What will be the result? Now you might be able to see what Teta saw which you did not see yourself. You might say people want a peaceful demo, joke! Where on earth did you people promise that they want a violent demo?

  45. #55 – Fine
Am sure you are a rocket scientist from the way you have disected AKA’s strange abilities and qualities. It makes me sad to realise that we still have people so myopic they want tax payers money wasted on people who spent all their time analysing without offering any practical solutions. Please let come down to earth, it’s time for action. The world is moving ahead and we are being left behind.

  46. # 70 Fine! demos cant cause cholera, talk of damage to infrastructure. how can you support such a mare and useless excuse? i think you are also still sleeping like your President Lundani. Tell me one occation in any of the countries where demos have caused cholera?

  47. This was expected guys, these people helped the man get into state house. There is nothing sinister about this. We all expected this. My problem with this is that the world over is undergoing tough financial times and RB and his govt are busy giving jobs to friends and relatives when they should have been think of reducing the already bloated govt. What a shame!!!!!! Only the future will judge them……

  48. Kennedy Mambwe, thank you for creating this website. We really appreciate. But i hope you employers know you are the one doing this?\

  49. Just leave Aka alone. Why get so worked up over his appointment. I find the raised emotions quite suspicious. The name calling: Aka this, Aka that, he is a failure! etc. Can any one really point at succesful politicians in Zambia? Chiluba a thief, Sata failed presdential elections three times, HH 2 times….the whole country itself is a mess….And somehow someone who had the courage to convene the Garden House meeting in July 1990 is a failure? Let’s have some mature perspective please.

  50. #72. Disgusted,
I will tell that in the world you have people whoes gift is to merely talk and analyse issues while other take actions based on the foundation of their work. Just like in the field of construction you have engineers whoes job is simply to design while others pick up and to the building and so on. So while I respect your view I do not beliew it is a wide view.

  51. I met AKA during 2006 elections campains at Lima Motel in chingola. The man is serious about integrity in public offices I actually thought he would veep.

I have nothing against a good man. All the best AKA.

  52. # 74. Rashid Jones,
From your comments I can tell that analysis and you are enemies.
You say I am sleeping like my president, but in my sleep I have clearly explained to you that demos have capacity to cause disturbalisation to the provision of services such as clean water, food, medical etc which in turn have a bearing on the threat of epidermics such as cholera. Now while you are awake, you cannot see even the slightest of logic. How awake are you? Are you awake phyisically only or mentally?

  53. Zimbabwe has cholera and i will not be suprised when Mugabe says it resulted from the demos. He has been given a good answer by one Teta. There are violent demos in Greece as we blog and i will soon switch and search for Greece on Yahoo and Google and hope to find some info on how those demos which are violent will bring cholera there. So Teta has managed to sell his idea to some people that demos are capable of bring or causing a break out of cholera. Then RB was wise in his appointment for minister of Local Govt. Keep up the good research Teta.

  54. I AM OLOSO SAPURISED WITH DIS APPOITEMENT MWANDI.LET HIM AOLOSO APPOITE MY SON CASTROL AS A MININISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS.

  55. Sata is also a waste product of KK, recycled and re damped by FTJ and then re-recycled by Kaponyas and eagle eagles.. hence his brand name cycle mata :d

  56. #78 Chileshe I agree with you. Aren’t Sata and Guy Scott recycled and failed politicians. Young men were given a chance at state house and they ended up embarassing us – Remember Fabian Mumba and Chella Katwishi sagas?

  57. Fine

that is a very poor analysis
A simple ‘Cholera outbreak’ problem analysis tree will be
    Effects:increased morbidity and mortality
final effects:increase in poverty, increase demand for health services and Reduced production.
Causes :poor sanitary conditions , contaiminated water supply, unhygenic health practices.
Intermediate causes: open pitlatrines, flooding urban areas, lack of knowledge
Base causes :leaking sewer, poor maintainance ,low level income. Demos linking them to Cholera? Man………

  58. The biggest problem man has is not hearing but understanding.
This can be confirmed even right here on this discussion board.
People cannot see beyond their eyesight, they cannot hear beyond their ears, and they cannot smell beyond their noses. This is why we keep reactict to damage after it has been caused already for we cannot see it before it comes. We are unable to see the results of our actions before we act. This is the majority of our population, and these are the same people that will wish to go into politics in future. People who will argue that walking in the forest at night cannot cause death, but it is the lion you find in the forest that can cause death.

  59. Sorry #54 is blank;I actually meant #55. Just like #74 was reffering to #71 & not 70.Human error its called.Anyone disputing my earlier statement about Zed politiks being dominated by “nicompoops”,or those who choose to be such because of small-time loot. What can one get out of Daniel Munkombwe and Joseph Mulyata? The latter said just a few days ago that RB will be the MMD candidate for 2011 and he said it with such self conviction that I wondered whether we live in the same country with these fellows. Sic!!

  60. Pastor J, Bapastor ninshi? Its not only Kaponyas and eagle eagles who love Sata. there are alot of educated people who are in love with him. Leave Bashi Chilufya alone and concentrate on preaching the gospel of JESUS. olo nimwe Bapastor i think you need deliverance. [-x

  61. #87. Luapula Fish,
So up to now you are not aware that demos can cause damage to property such as:
    1) water supply infrustracture?
    2) Sewer treatment infrastracture?
    3) Violence that would cause water utility personel not to go to work there by causing shortages and interruptions in supply?
    4) damage to electricty supply infrastracture which will cause a chain reaction on most operations including suplly of fresh foods, water, etc.
This is why i have said that most of our people cannot see beyond their eyesight, or hear beyond their ears, or smell beyond their nose.
You still wonder how demos can cause cholera? Oh my God!

  62. #11,12 I agree with you Young man. We need to mobilise young people to vote in 2011 and we need a party full of young intellectuals.Even us abroad can help. Come on guys all we do is talk is there anyone who can rise among us and lead the way? The same way KK rose in his time to fight colonialists. He need to fight for the future of Zambia. The old men have tried and failed let us arise-Peacefully ofcourse. The intellectual capability of people on this blog in enough to drive Zambia out of the archaic state its in.If we don’t do anything babies like baby M will continue to die.Nothing in zambia functions as it should.

  63. Pastor J

Dont insult the masses who voted for Sata, you may be even worse off than the people you are calling kaponyas. learn to respect other people irrespective of their positions in society.

  64. #91 FINE OK then let’s just do like in China, when people demonstrate… they die. That is the true road to democracy don’t you agree? Look how well the Chinese are doing…

  65. Now I know that TETA is much wiser than most of the people contributing on this discussion board.
    Let me say here that,
Your wisdom will not be measured by the level of ‘history’ accumulated in you heard, but the level of ‘foresight’ that can come out of your heard.

  66. Still surprises going on in this govt sure this man RB is still offering jobs to his fellow recycled politicians at the expense of our tax payers money ha ha .Quiet as we understand that Zambia is a small country both in terms population and political so l see no need for it to have much work force in terms cabinet, too many advisors and so on while elsewhere others are reducing unnecessary work force him is doing the opposite just to appreciate thoz who helped him there. This is very very sad looking at how zambia’s economy is doing currently and just by lookng at our president face you can tell that he has no vision to tek a step ahead where LPM left us ..shame .shame to thoz who voted him.

  67. Fine

I have a problem linking Demos to Cholera

Its like saying Aka and other appointments can also cause cholera coz this will reduce the amount of money to be chanelled for the provision clean water, powers supply.
Your focus fully generlisation , after all Violence has not been linked with Cholera by any studies. Demonstrations have been there even before cholera was known.

  68. Not all, but a number of people who have been said to be unreasonable are actually reasonable people who have not been understood by unreasonable people.

  69. Aka is very important to Zambia whether you like him or not.He helped in the founding of the MMD which other characters snatched and polluted with their greed and corruption. He was one of the few educated and concerned Zambians who raised their voices against one party dictatorship which Kaunda had built over the years. While your so called young brains where sucking their mother’s breasts and the talkative cowards were hiding in their small shelters fearing the vigilantes of UNIP.Man get a life and do something for yourself before you realize its time to retire. :-w:d/:-?

  70. 91
I am now getting disappointed with your analysis. Baf$^ala ba MMD are the ones who have been responsible for Cholera. Kawimbe the guy just recycled was called Mr Cholera before 91 as we all who campaigned for MMD thought cholera will be a thing of the past. With a mandate from all of us and a period of calm from all quaters MMD was battling chorela year in and out there in Lusaka to a point where kawimbe was removed from health. The period was peaceful for them to rule now where was cholera coming from? Poor sanitation and negligence. I am yet to see demo induced cholera. We now have Proffessors in cholera.

  71. I predict a sad ending for Nyama Soya

Is in a ‘before I self destruct ‘ situation, may be this might be the right time for him to step down before people can rise

  72. #103. Luapula Fish,
Have you ever heard any studies anywhere where political disagreement has caused cholera?
Well I must tell you that the political behaviour of leaders in Zim has a direct bearing of the out break.
What you need to understand is the issue of actions causing chain reactions which have bearings on final outcomes of society events.
I can choose to be narrow in my appraoch to issues and fail to see many things.
Isaac could have chosen to be historical, and say there has been nothing like electricity in world history; today you and me were going to be using candles.

  73. Abena Rashid, some of these chaps dont know what they are talking about. Kuba lekafye mudala. Ati ba Pastor, yaba. No substance .

  74. I am proposing a motion to nominate FINE to minister of health and hear what he has to say about the causes of HIV. He will tell us that money and a full stomach are the major causes of HIV, owing to the fact that a person with money and a full stomach can book a hotel run and using his/her energy engage in unprotected sex and contract the disease. So he will suggest we don’t have money and go on empty stomachs and preserve our life. Fine is my man with his cholera analysis. Why don’t we patent this Teta’s new find and Fine supported theory and export it and earn the much needed dollars. We can also open a field for study at UNZA and be the first in the world to churn cholera gurus.

  75. Beware of the Rat
    Written by Kalaki’s Korner
Urrgghh!’ exclaimed Sara in horror, as I turned on the TV to find the screen filled with the long whiskers of Mr Pong Mpongo, Minister for Defence against Anarchy. ‘Turn him off!’ she said.

‘No,’ I said. ‘Let us suspend judgement, and see if the Minister of Defence has anything to say in his defence.’

The camera panned back to reveal the interviewer, Flank Mutilator, perched on the edge of a huge armchair. ‘Mr Mpongo, y’know, you were quoted recently, y’know, as saying that there is no justification for protests against the price of mealie-meal, and that any protest will, y’know, be dealt with by the full force of the law.’

  78. This man is busy appointing people from only three tribes, namely Nyanja, Bemba and Lozi. We are watching. Zambia does not belong to those three tribes only. It is time the other tribes that are being overlooked raised concern. We are watching.

  79. I am not mandated to anybody understand things though I can explain.
Let there be a demo that turns out to be violent electricity infrastracture damaged, sewer pipes damaged, lusaka water staff forced to stay home, water installations damaged etc.
Wait a few months if you will not have epidermics, then contact me we can then talk.
    Thank you!

  80. #123 Fine by your logic then the ultimate responsibility will fall to those who caused the tension which brought people to demonstrate in the first place. What should people do, just be quiet and suffer? And enjoy in heaven? Are you familiar with the works of Fela Anikulapo Kuti?

  81. Fine
No, political disagreements have not caused Cholera in Zaimbabwe instead Political disagreemnts, poor governance and withdraw of western governments and bilaterall donors have caused povery in Zimbabwe.
Mugabe has failed to govern the nation without western support ,certain countries have managed to do away with western governments and have successfully managed their affairs. There has been demonstrations in a number of countries but not cholera. Zimbabwen government at the moment is unable to provide basic services not because of the demos but coz of limited resourses. If demos causes cholera ,then there is a correlation between cholera and demos and I practically cant deduce that

  82. Aka brings a lot knowledge to the country. It RB’s best choice to move forward. This man Aka knows how to put Zambia’s position forward. No doubt he show have been Vice President but this is good enough

  83. I dont really understand why RB has gone to old politicians.Boniface kawimbe and now Aka when is he going to develop young ones to give them chance for the future. We need to know who can succeed him at any time even in the next elections

  84. To strengthen MMD he should be working to get more young people and the uneducated whom he lost to PF and the educated whom he lost to UPND.He already had a full house of the elderly in MMD

  85. bo aka is a failure. he failed to run his paper africa linek. and what with these stories that he is being kept. anway bo mwana mulena is reaping from his dancing at kusefya pa ngwena. next it will be the other chancers like nevers .

i hope aka will amass enough wealth. we shouldnt hear again that he has put someone’s house on rent. rb appoint nevers maybe he will buy a house otherwise he will continue putting caveats on pipo’s houses he is renting :d/

  86. #I28, I beg to differ with you over Aka. If there is one politician on the scene who does not know what he is doing, what he’s talking about and where he’s going, then Aka is that man. and thats the man you say should have been vice-President? God forbid ooooooooo. He is better placed in the background like that, although given a choice, i’d have prefered not to give him anything. He has definately outlived his usefulness and its time this country moved on. We are not short of human resources, for goodness sake.

  87. old carcases regrouping for the final looting of the little that has remained. what more with the bringing back of vj,aka and chungu. zambia koma ya sila dont we have pipo

  88. #127. Sony Ericsson Phiri,
So by you argument you imply that anyone who will say unclen water, contaminated food, failure to wash hands before touching or eating for etc CANNOT cause cholera, but the cholera bacteria itself?
Are you also saying that it will be wrong to the malaria carrier mosquito cause malaria, but it is the plasmodium itself not the mosquito?
You are also saying that it is not poinous food that can make someone sick, but the poison in the food?
Interesting, because someone else will tell you that it is not the bacteria that will cause you to be sick but your weak immune system, because you can be exposed to the same bacteria, you get sick your friend doesn’t. Ha,ha!

  89. #125. Luapula Fish,
Dont try to think that TETA menat that demos are germs (bacteria or fungi) which enter the blood stream and cause cholera. If you view it from that angle you will never find a correlation between demo and cholera. If learnt the very few basics of statistical inference, either mainstream or applied, you will understand that there is direct and indirect correlation. Indirect correlation takes into account intermdiate variables, while direct not or may have but does not take into account intermediate variables.

  90. The analysis of cholera from demos has left Sony Ericsson Phiri nkaniless it seems. Mudala pa Zed paliba thinking at times it can leave you speechless and wordless. Happy Demo Cholera.

  91. you guys, Fine is just a comedian who is trying to prove something. leave him with his demo cholera analysis. Maybe bamadya bonse na AKA.

  92. RB finally sums it up,the rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer.aka is formally emproyed as rb’s 2011 camp manager for the fouth coming mmd convention believe it or not at the expess of taxpayers money sham!edith, nevers, sikota get ready for the next ‘swearin ceremony ‘you deserve more than brown evelopes and been flown in the zaf chopper, as for the villagers 50kg fertiliser is nolonger k50000 but k270000/300000 ,urban friends its a case of k63500/90000 per 25kg mealie meal ,remember we have to pay aka a good salary now .long leave sata, guy, given, musenge etc.

    one pf forever-kitwe

  93. #146. Sony Ericsson Phiri,
I agree with you totally; demos can cause all types of changes. one of them is the one we are discussing; if demos can cause disturbances and damanges that will bring about run down sanitation, uncontrolled or run down healthy system, lack of fresh water, food etc, then cholera may be innevitable. Now you and me agree that if cholera comes to a city where there was no cholera before; that is CHANGE to that city.

  94. rb na iwe jere we dont need u to explain to us that there is a global financial crisis.whats new about zambia going thru hard tymz, this has been the case since tym immemorial.you are in that office to provide solutions and show initiative, something that the MMD and all its leaders past or present have never been able to do.dont remind us of the problems twamipapata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  95. Fine
I dont neeed to put it in a different way for you and Teta to understand that Demos do not cause Cholera but might have a distant correlation just like other thousands of exogenious variable that exibit a positive relationships with factors causing cholera. This does not mean these exogenious variables causes Cholera but contribute to the intermidiate factors that causes Chorela in varying degrees. These variable might not even have a relationship with the actual caueses of chorela. I gave you the actual causes and intermidiate causes of chorela in what can be called a Cholera problem tree.As a minister is exppected to making reasonable statements otherwise will question his knowl..

  96. Fine.

  98. #152 Fine so what you are saying is that you are against change. That is exactly the attitude that has led to Zambia’s poverty, resistance to change

  99. #152 Fine for example a nail on the road can cause a vehicle accident. So does that mean we must not drive? Or ban nails?

  100. Congrats to the new appointees. Please an opportunity has been granted to you to serve mother Zambia do your best. Bo AKA, Bo SITALI ndi aJERE. Bravo to His Execellecy The President RB.

  101. Prince Aka is a man of integrity and commoners cannot understand his principles. He will definitely do a good job bearing in mind the limitations of working under the circumstances of a thoroughly sokonized HIPC.

  102. I happen to have heard yesterday on british T.V that people from the age of 40 lose abt a third of their memory. If this is true isnt it about time we brought some intelligent young people with better memories and renewed vigour- as Mwanawasa tried to do to run the country.Big up to Aka though i still think he is a sensible man, but i think he will soon learn the sacrosanct nature of patronage in african politics.Ukuladalanda takwakabombe..He looks more sobre than most of them though.

  103. LT and fellow bloggers, you are too fast for me. While you have gone as far as appointing AKA as special assistant to president for political affairs, I am still stuck here currently under the ARCHIVES. I am waiting for SHAKAME MWANA to respond to #397 under ‘It can happen to you.’ Good day!… :-c:-c

  104. #157. Sony Ericsson Phiri,
I am against and I am for change.
I am for change that moves from bad to good, from good to better.
I am against change that moves from good to bad, from bad to worse, and from worse to worst.
My mind is open and not riggid. I am positively flexible.
That is why there are a few times I have agreed with SATA, and there are times I havent.
There are times i have agreed with RB and a few times i have not.
Some people if change was containable, they would receive it in a box and thank the people who have given them the change before opening and seeing the change in the box.
But after opening the box they even wish they were blind.

  105. #165 thanks I am also flexible – enough to know that if people don’t get the opportunity to express their frustration through orderly, organised demonstrations, they may do worse later in a disorganised way… Think of it as a pressure valve

  106. RB’s government is gonna be a looker with all sorts of former somethings hanging in…. and lots of Chipata- Chipata…one in every four, if you know what I meant. :d/

  107. The nyama soya empire is slowly being strenthened by addition of finished/recycled kandiles, expect nawakwi, sakwiba, nevers to be holding fake bibles at state house.
meanwhile the f,,,,ls are not addresing the issue of mealie meal and fertilizer prices but are just issuing threats day and night.

  108. BA Moze 64

Even I feel like im in a dream. only in my dream ,we dont have a president and Banda is pretending to be president….and then i wake up and i find it is real !!! Just Imagine. I dont konw ,maybe my dream would have been worse if it was Sata..we really need new players in the political field!!

  109. # 166. Sony Ericsson Phiri,
What instrument do you use to tell that the demo will be peaceful?
In any case, you do not start a demo before laying clear your grievances?
We expect the opposition to lay down on the table possible solutions to the current problems other than just telling government to remove the problems. If as oppostion you tell govt to remove problems, the question is ‘how’?
If you state your ‘how’ but the government remains adamant, then demo could become an option.
Demos are options when there is a deadlock, not as the first option, no.
That is where I dont see the logic of the calls for such demos.

  110. #79 FINE
I agree with you, but haven’t you heard of the advantages of multi tasking? We are in a hurry to develop as any politician and concerned Zambian will tell you. So why waste time and money having two groups that of thinkers and doers when we can have one group that can individually think and do?

  111. #85,ba pastor J do me a favour please.Never talk against Sata like that again.I hope that is very clear man of God if you are a true pastor that is. Ba Fine ifikansa ninshi kanshi.

  112. Do you honestly think RB is going to stand in 2011? Those of you that don’t know him personally do not actually realise that he is very likely to start introducing younger people into the political scenario. AKA maybe a recycled politician but he know what he’s talking about.

Compare him to bufoon Shakafuswa. RB is might be old but he knows that the time has come for the younger generation to take the mantle. Rather thsn insulting older people, learning from them might be a godd start. Yes, we younger ones are more exposed etc, but don’t let the arrogance of youth make you think you can do a better job without learning from bakulu, you will fall flat on your face.

  113. Imwe ba #173 EN, you are even saying that those who dont know RB,do you know that Teta with his big mouth has arleady offered himself to campaign for RB in 2011.Young people, what do you mean? bringing these old guys is what you call fresh blood. Hey give us a break mr.

  114. Chewe. I’m not going to elaborate more on this. People like Teta look out for themselves. That is why Mugabe is in the situation he is in: yes men looking out for themselves so the good times don’t end. Is Teta RB boss. So if Teta says something you take it as gospel! Don’t be so bloody naive. After all people slag Teta off for opening his mouth carelessly. Teta has offered himself to campaign for RB, does that equate to RB saying he is going to stand in 2011. He’s going to be 75 or so. Please, he’ll be embarassed to even campaign, he’s too old. He should be wary of yes men.

  115. Without being overdosed with emotions,I think Aka’s appointment is on credit. He is enlightened and exposed and I feel he has a grade, aside campaigning for RB. After all, RB would not have gone on the street to look for who to appoint. Even God uses those that are available. Aka positioned himself and he worked. Given an opportunity anyone would have worked as AKA and the others did. There could have been some selfish drive in them but the fact still remains that he worked and was available. Any comments?

  116. On Dickson Jere’s appointment. It’s difficult to comment comrades. This is so in the sense that, as others have said, it was on tribal lines. Yes, it could have some tribal attachment but does Dickson qualify? Was RB appointing Dickson Jere because they hail from one region, or area related or because he has some qualification? The answer no one is privy to except RB himself. Dickson Jere’s journalistic career started significantly at The POST Newspapers. He left, wrote with National Mirror, he was Misa Zambia chairperson and he was AFP (Agency France Presse) local representative. In terms of media, he is, i think well vest.In addition he is young. Pipo are crying recycled, recycled, now

  117. Can some any surgeon in UK trim RB’s thick face please. This man makes me sick each time. I cant imagine thats the face in all buildings in Zambia. I am not coming back….not until

  118. #182. shame indeed, you are the kind of people who even despise their mothers because they have no eye, you would rather hide from them or stay away from them. Shame on you. You know what you are saying is that GOD created a face that you would not want to look at or see framed into a picture hang in business premises. RB was created in God’s image in whose image you were also created.

  119. we need fresh news L.T. Here in Southern Province pipo are starving.
Its too much of AKA. My appointment as S.P Minister did not feature on your page. Fresh news Badala BA L.T. TWAPENGA

  120. #171. Disgusted,
Brilliant idea my friend. If we can have with both aspects; analysis and action then we would be right on track.
A man of analysis without action may not be helpful, though safer.
A man of action without analysis is worse and very dangerous, however.

  121. to add on to #2 VP Kunda will soon be relinguished of his justice potfolio for S Sikota. RB thinks Zambians are covered with cotton wool all over their faces. We know were you are comiming from and we certainly know were you are going mr president.

  122. Appointing Aka is one good thing RB has done. Aka is intelligent, insightful and unlike many politicians on the Zambian scene, is not corrupt. He is probably one of the few who will actually tell RB like it is. The problem is will RB really take advice? RB needs think about leaving a solid legacy. Assuming he has no plan of standing in 2011, he has the rare opportunity to bring in Zambia’s best and brightest; inclduing qualified women, younger people, without fear of retaliation from MMD leadership. This cabinet needs not just fresh faces, but people who can actually deliver for Zambians. In addition we need to be well represented at international levels.

  123. Nyama Soya should have a look at me. I’m pretty and younger than his wife. This man has been quite. Zambiams be careful, by the time you open your eyes he will be a dollar billionaire.

  124. Im enjoying this. Shrek in charge & everything goes heywire. Wont say I told you so but watch this space. Zambians, you made your bed of thorns, now lie in it!!!

  125. Very fine, Fine you have finally confused all fine men. Fine Chorela, Cholera is polom/ya, ukuny/a and demo. Fine how, where, when? by the way, incidentally, actually you too. Totally confused!!!!!

  126. **==**==**==:))

I agree with those in favor of bringing in new young educated politicians, its about time the government starts recruiting fresh faces and listening to the people of zambia.

  127. I also think that Sakwiba Sikota will be offered to justice ministry in a short while. There is already discussion that 2 portfolios for the Vice president are too much. I think it is only a question of time. First the members of MMD and Sikotas party have to get used to the thought.

On Dixon Jere’s appointment the question is if he can continue the publish his Executive Issues with all the inside information in future since he now is the presidential press aide. That might collide with the nature of his new job???? To give someone a job like this could also mean to tie him down….. f.e. publishing some hot news in his E.I.

  128. The level of ignorance of some posters here is appalling! The man appointed Three civil servants and one politicians & yet some people here are moaning about the man hiring useless failures… jeez [-(

  129. Zambia has had these recycled Politicians for past 40 yrs on the road to nowhere. 2011 elections No vote for Sata No Vote for HH we need new ideas new leaders.Let us begin to mobilize and organize, 2011 VOTE CHANGE I ASK SOME OF YOU BLOGGERS TO RUN FOR PARLIAMENT

  130. Time for New Leaders we have tried the old Politicians and they have led us nowhere. The Road to No Where RB,Sata,HH. It is time For Change 2011, elect New leaders from President to Parliament

  131. when all is said and done , one thing is clear to me and perhaps to some of you with a good working prefrontal lobe, chiluba definitely is NOT happy with appointment of aka. This is a consolation to me.

  132. Our Late President Mwanawasa must be turning in his grave when he observes the direction Zambia is taking under the leadership of these thugs in such a short space of time.Xavier Chungu is back while FTJ`s cases will soon be nolle prosequi.
Don`t we surely have an OBAMA in Zambia to save us from such quagmire?

  133. quagmire? #203 you are Zambia’s solution pack your smart ass and head to Zed and run for public office and bring change, we Need Change Now.

  134. I am very surprised at most of the comments being made on this blog. People are so petty, how can you 181 talk about someones face. You must be a baby, like baby c. Look leadership is not about looks but passion to save pipo you lead. Thats all, off course if you have something personal with Rb dont bring it here. Him is enjoying at state house. You are frustrated wherever you are. As an economic refugee come home and do sothing about the situe. At least RB rose and he is doing well so far. Aka is one of the most politically knowledgeable zambians. Well behaved and brought up. he is not like you thieves and plunderes. he values his traditions and culture. What more do you need.

  135. Stop contributions whic have no logic please, start thinking Zambians. Kabwata young man pack your young ass and come o Zed. Ba gurugufe osati kuzionesa u intellegent pa Blogg… All of you come home and start to ntemba which should grow into big business in future. Ukutemwa luxury mufyalo fyabene. Mukala wamya a mawindows lyonse. Meanwhile ba PF kabiyeni ku convention. :o/:):d/

  136. I told home boys you cant touch this!! I chased the whites because they are traitors, you all condemened me now you are suffering from the credit crunch. Mwanya ine Im safe i did away with white foreigners.

My young brother Obama is ruling their asses now. At least I can now co-operate.

  137. Youngman HH needs to be considered becoz of his leadership qualities not that he has lost b4. Wade of senegal lost 7 times b4 becoming president. we need to look at credentials of the people standing not that they have lost before, otherwise we will never choose quality leaders like that!

  138. I just couldn’t depart your web site before suggesting that I actually loved the standard information an individual supply for your visitors? Is going to be back regularly to investigate cross-check new posts
