Filth and Lawlessness overtake Chilenje Police Camp

Share

To whom it may concern,

I am a youth leader in the Patriotic Front (PF). My concern is the behavior by which the Police Club in Chilenje has been operating.I have witnessed so many times that this place opens the tavern as early as 06:00hrs.This I strongly condemn. It seems that the Police have taken the law in their own hands by selling opaque beer [brown and white chibuku].I am therefore asking the local authority where ever they might be to immediately enforce the law at this Chilenje Police Tavern.

The drum used to store the opaque beer is so filthy.Even the toilets are very dirty and looking at the season in which we are I think people who drink from there are at risk of suffering from waterborne diseases among them cholera. The surroundings looks like the place where retrenched workers who have not been given their terminal benefits stay.

This is the place where the security personnel have been subjected to using [ulusasa].They have made for themselves thatched bathing rooms outside their houses. When you look at the walls of their houses you even wonder where the charges they collect goes to.

It would be nice to have the drainpipes connected so as to have running water. Lower ranked police officers should also be entitled to have nice bathing rooms.Lets have cabins scraped off as this contributes to the filth in the camp. There should be sanitation in all police camps. Now it is only few individuals who are on higher ranks who enjoy cleanliness.
Please I am appealing to the council to apply the law where it is due.Do not let corruption and fear of the unknown kill our country. The council should work hand in hand with the Chilenje Police Sub Inspector. Lets not act as if when burying our late president at embassy park we also buried the laws.It is only discipline to the law that can help the nation to move forward.Lets keep our country clean.

Yours

Concerned Zambian

  1. ba PF youth leader

When you say “the council should work hand in hand with…” fimo fimo, what do you mean? I thought the council was in the hands of PF? unless things changed pa weekend! 😮

  2. Looking at Chilenje Police Camp(the so called Janet Sakala),one would conclude its a refuge camp and yet thats where our law enforcers reside.at one time, the same cops were liviing in unfinished shops at Chilenje Market due to lack of accomadation.

As for the tarven,Mrs Makanta(LCC Spokewoman) should come in and do what is required of her instead of being camera-crazy and rushing to the media to make announcements that are never implemented.

  3. Man U 4 life Gumu Gumu 4 life

Openning the tarven/bar at 06:00hrs is clealy breaking the law.Like any other citizen, the author has a civic duty to report this, provided he has proof.

They say cleanliness is next to Godliness. It is sad these cops have opted to associate themselves to filthness which is next to ……I don’t know.

  4. wow this makes a very sad reading in my opinion,if the cops start drinking as early as 6 oclock in the morning,hw can they stop the other tuma small tarvens muja mwalinda compound?no wonder the youths nowadays t are jst always drunk muja mwalinda hahaha,ya yili bad, takwaba ati nipa sondo nangula ntile pamulungu..cops shld be the first people to abide by the laws of our nation, these are the law enforcers wwe hav,bt they wont follow the laws themselves, its very sad indeed.

  5. what do you expect the police offiers to do before reporting for work. their break fast is chibuku shemmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :-\”

  6. Are these the Law enforcement officers RB and friends want to build houses for? You just can not wear your Uniform and then start drinking in public. 😕

  7. Notuma bullet proof vests tukasapuka in no time at all, because they’ll be wearing them as show-off during their chibuku escapade. ‘Mufana waona ndine Rambo ka’. The bullet proof vests will come handy for muscle man vests.

  8. moba baba!!!!like ku chawama (kuku compound),kapokola ba kawalala ndiye bamugulila moba pa tavern, bamugwila kawalala bamupeleka ku polisi ali pa diuti ni kapokola wa lwanda, and wat do u expect,bazamuchosa…..

  9. These officers should be advised to cut down on beers. During the 70’s when I was a toddler, cops were not allowed to drink alcohol in public, let us in their uniforms. Today, the Police uniform has lost its meaning….

  10. That problem is not only in chilenje but in almost all the police camps.i have seen that in matero also. boma ni boma, who will stop them? they enforce the law.

  11. The writer should be arrested. He is one of the drunkards Zambia has and correctly in PF, just like Sata.
How can he cleverly report his friends that they start drinking at 06hrs. This is the time he too start drinking
I should arrest him then arrest the tavern attendant

  12. Boo freaking hoo, they are grown up’s and grown ups have to take responsibility for their actions. If they are chibuku warriors drinking chibuku with ba green inzi good riddance to society.

  13. **==**==**==

and what is the police and council doing about that??

its true, thres heavy drinking at that place!!

LT, Were are my other comments??

  14. Has anybody walked the path from Mtendere market torwards Mahatima Ghandi school in Mtendere. They also start drinking as early as 6 am (or maybe they dont close). What time do these people of productive ages work. The councils have serious problems to deal with which are not brought to light (not just the arguing of approving budgets). WE HAVE A DRINKING PROBLEM in ZED. Same problems like arboligines in Australia in our compounds.

  15. #24
I have been there,Mtendere is another place where productive youths can drink as early as 04. Along Mtendere Market towards mahatma Ghandi, you will find tarvens in the name of “Home of Chat”(Most noticeable) and may others crowded by youths(Even Monday morning).

  16. Sharp Shooter, I walked that route this morning (no money for a mini bus for round trip to UNZA. I saw the so called “Home of Chat”. The walk brought me to seeeing real situations in our compounds.

  17. Jenks

    Wadandaula maningi. Ninshi mani?

These cops are adults. Let them drink themselves to death. Lwabo. Its a case of taking the horse to the river (which is simple). But can you force it to drink? Ndiye khani yaba police.

  18. #26. ZambiaYesu. I feel for you. I did those short cuts too. Why is there no bus route from Mtendere via Kalingalinga to Great East Road? Or from Mtendere through Kalingalinga, Kabulonga to woodlands extension and Bauleni? Ba Road Traffic, help us please. We are tired of walking and continuously replacing worn out school shoes for our kids.

  19. First of all people like you PF cadres should stop patronizing such places and secondly the PF councils should begin to work instead of just throwing insults at RB and the Govt of the day. And since you are a leader in PF go and tell the mayor or your councilors to do something because us blogger’s wont do anything about that situation.

mudala am feeling pity for these cops, look @ sikanze, singogo(ndola),prisons camp(ndola),these guys drink beer like supper maheu!! and sanitation is pathetic!!,lwabo…..

  21. Evelyn King.

Iam so sorry my comment on #44 I was refering to namayo the director of Tourism please that comment it was not for you.Hope you understand, but all the same I think I was also wrong to call the Director on tourism ati namayo.

  22. The policemen can hope for a better future….

    Isa. 65:21,22
And they will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat [their] fruitage. 22 They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full

    Micah 4:4
And they will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one making [them] tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken [it].

  23. police camos have been a sore sight for years. its a reflection of how the government(s) weigh the importance of the cops. and the cops are meant to be law enforces, serving and protecting law abiding citizens..so you can imagine how lowly the government(s) weigh the importance of its citizens. MMD and UNIP have not addressed these issues for years.. 😕

  24. This PF youth is just a drunkard. Lusaka council is in the hands of PF. Why cant he complain to sata and his councilors? Sata promised us that lusaka was going to look different in 90 days. :):)

  25. You chaps just envy ba buju coz most of u are toma white collar chaps who can not start ur ka day drinking as early as 06hrs. Probably witha a ka stuck up some-of-us, or is it ass wife…wanabe punks….BUJU FOR LIFE….CHAMIBABANI

  26. What we are seeing in Chilenje Police Camp is a sign that the centre can not hold anymore. If a Police Camp in the capital city can be in such a mess you need not ask about the one in Shangombo or Jimbe!
Put in some seriousness mwebuteko, twasebana sana mwandi! :((

  27. when i was young,i used to watch an American DETECTIVE dramer SIRENS.I began to think of giving police force a try but when i grow older i realised being a cop is just a big joke.

  28. sad reading pipo. Who shall rescue the cops from this doti?? Thanks for RB assurance that he will upgrade their lifes.

    =d>=d>=d>=d>=d>

  29. to all officers:vote PF,the police bar will be open 24,7 and you’ll be allowed to get high twice as much in a cleaner enviroment!!! :d:d:d

  30. BAKAPOKOLA,PLEASE TRY TO BEHAVE LIKE ‘ROAD TRAFICK OFFICERS’.THEM HAVE CHOICE.AT LEAST THEM DRINK CASTLE AND MOSI.MANJE IMWEE BAKAPOKOLA MUTUSEBANYA MANINGI.

  31. Pabbwana start drinking as early as 06:00 hrs. When do they go for work.I think this is why most of them report drunk on duty. The Local Authority should interven in the issue of the Police club operating outside the normal hours and then the Govt (RB and Team)to look into the issue of housing.Accomodation for cops in Zambia leaves much to bve desired especially Sikanze camp.

  32. please do not blame these innocent people, there are just junior officers who do not have much hope, especially that they have politicians for inspector-general who are there to take care of their own needs and those of the people who appoint them.please understand the deep problems of our country of a lack of genuine leadership in all sectors from politicians to all over.what we need are true leaders, those who will truly be servants of our people.

  33. Low salaries,a tough working environment and large extended families to take of,then what do you expect one to do, kulakolwafye bigge and probably it is even more convinient to bath in a lusasa while drunk than sober engesoni :d

  34. NO WOUNDER ON ROAD BLOCKS WHEN THEY SEE YOU DRINK DRIVING THEY INSTEAD ASK YOU FOR A BEER (BWANJI KAMOZI BOSS)
    IDOIT KAPOKOLA

  35. Days are long gone when Police camps used to be clean. Routine inspections of cops houses. Bazimaiused to shine ma floors using red cobra. Pa Camp command used to be there making sure every place was neat within the camps. These days tumatemba all over. Ma wire fence no more. You can,t believe it. It is not just Chilenje Police Camp, It everywhere. May be the Police High Command should engage District Disaster Management. Or I guess some one somewhere things have fallen apart:-w:-\”
