Vernon Mwaanga (r) talks to mines minister Maxwell Mwale during parliament opening

MMD’s Veteran politician and Government Chief Whip in parliament Mr Vernon Mwaanga told ZANIS in an interview that he has made tremendous improvement after undergoing a successful operation on his left ear at at Garden Court Morningside clinic in Johannesburg.

Mr Mwaanga will remain in South Africa until Thursday when he is due for a review. He is expected to return to Zambia on Saturday

Yesterday, president Rupiah Banda visited Mr Mwaanga, and Chief Justice, Enerst Sakala who is currently undergoing medical treatment in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Justice Sakala was discharged from Milpark Hospital a few days ago and is due for review this week.

The President also visited former Presidential Affairs Minister, Cecil Holmes, who arrived in Johannesburg on Friday for medical attention.

Mr Banda is also due to visit Science and Technology Minister, Peter Daka, who is also in South Africa for medical attention.

Meanwhile, President Banda is today expected to join other SADC Heads of State and government at an extraordinary Summit on Zimbabwe.

The Summit, which is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria, has been called by South Africa, as current Chair, for regional leaders to try and find a durable settlement of the political stalemate in Zimbabwe following last year’s Presidential elections.

The meeting comes in the wake of the latest fruitless attempt by President Mugabe and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai to agree on the sharing of key ministerial positions, which has been the thorniest issue in the formation of a government of national unity.

High Commissioner, Leslie Mbula, told ZANIS ahead of President Banda’s arrival that Zambia was hopeful that today’s meeting will yield positive results in finding a lasting solution to the Zimbabwean situation.

  1. So no surgeon back home would have done that operation then? The last time I checked, Zambia had a lot of surgeons. May be they just bought the papers!:d Anything is possible in Zambia.

  2. You mean the entire cabinet is a moving fleet of coffins????? All those are ill? Are they not just shopping?? This is serious!!! Unbeliveable!! Unprecedented in the history of the Zambian Cabinet! People are going to South Africa even when they have a flu??? 😮

  3. Can the government get serious? Y take all those pipo to a clinic in South Africa when they can jes put that money into improving our own hospitals here? yabe! this is so frustrating. Jes last week we were told that a young man who is studying to b a shinganga has been denied cash to pay for his medicals and now they r paying all those monies for old finished men, men we can do without, yashani? plz stop wasting my hard earned cash ala!!! [-(

  4. Good for you VJ, but Govt should also the poor student, Cardson Kabwe(see ukzambians.co.uk) in Russia who needs a heart operation, instead of sending him back home. They are quick to send politicians abroad, and also quick to ignore ordinary citizen’s cry for help, shame on you!

  5. #7 3RqU it simply means the measure you set to judge others is the same measure that will be used to judge you. In short, no man is perfect.

  6. All these people going to South Africa for medical attention. why can’t we build better facilities in Zambia that will benefit even the poor masses of Zambians. what a shame on our government for not having a vision for our country.

  7. If only our govt can invest in medical equipment for UTH, all these medical bills & airfares would not be wasted. Why dont we learn to make things easy for ourselves. We do not have to re-invent the wheel mwebantu please!!!

  8. Big man i think its high time you rested. You have done alot and with that poor health of yours i think you need a big rest.

  9. Updated List of Zambian leaders in SA for Treatment just in one week

    1)Chief Just Ernest Sakala
    2)Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga
3)Science and Technology Minister, Peter Daka
4)Ex Presidential Affairs Minister, Cecil Holmes

OK experts on this blog get your calculators out and compute what this has cost the Zambia Govt and also work out what it would cost to bring UTH to the standard of morning side clinic. May be this information could help RB. Or maybe he has his entire Zambian leadershin on madical AID in South African. By the way I pay R 30 000 per year for my family of three to Discovery Medical Aid here.

  10. its doesn’t matter whether you improve or not, some of us dont care. We can only care if you are an asset to us civilians unfortunately you are a liability.

  11. Papa J

One more name ommited from the list: RB Banda Republican President!
He just cant go visiting patients. Obvious there is fimo fimo, ka? 😕

  12. wish you a quick recovery VJ, your new book is excellent i hope many bloggers on LT will have a copy so that they too can know that VJ is not just about elections. i will not comment any further because i stll cant get the boxing pictures off my mind.

  13. Rashid, hw r u?
Pinkly :o) were hav u been?
Rashid, Baby C is so so low 2day.Sumthing terrible hapend 2her over da wkend.

  14. Has VJ s head been drilled thru?I wish him well so that he retires quickly on medical grounds and saves us another state….

  15. There is no permanent improvement when one is suffering from AIDS, kuya bebele… sorry VJ but its time for you to resign and pay some attention to you health. We know its not easy to be HIV positive, my advise if pack your bags and enjoy your last days on earth with your family and not yr fellow corrupt politicians. [-(

  16. Being a Christian, I want to feel sympathy for the man, but the human in me keeps on reminding me how the man VJ has confused the whole political landscape in Zambia and cannot wait to see him leave us alone one or another.

  17. Zed, land of the sick! So Mr. President, how much taxpayers money are you giving South Africa this year? Remember, this is just the begining of the year and three are already in. Next it will be yourself to UK. Surely, IMFUKO can not be treated here at UTH? or nikana Mfuko.

Free advise, introduce medical insurance schemes to these sick government to save our money. The money that this government has spent to South Africa this month alone can change UTH for the better.

MMD CADRES why can’t you demonstrate on this issue so that your party and its govt improve our hospitals? I wanted to tell my group (PF) but definately we will not be given permit. Imwe napafyabupuba nishi permit nabamupela kale.

Viva for us to see change.

  18. Martworld iwe,Nice guy Martworld iweeee. Worldmart guy Nice iweee.Iwee guy Martworld Nice.Martworld guy Nice iweee. I have called him now.

  19. [-([-( Wishing u a quick recovery and gud 2hear abt the “tremendous improvement”hope its true.
Jus a reminder Mr VJ,remember wat use to say tht u won all ladies u wooed? Its tym 4u 2pay.Everything tht happens has its own tym,the HOUR HAS COME.

  20. 3RqU, Ba Moze

There’s nothing wrong with me, only that there are certain experiences in my past that have made me pledge to refrain from wishing others bad.

  21. 3RqU am fine and hope you good too.Ubushimbe fye boyi, most of the time i just take a cup of tea,two slices of bread and sleep.

  22. #50 NSANSI… They cannot demonstrate cos for them to see people abroad for treatment is a great achievement. They boast at Abena VJ etc tete baye pa UTH bakali”. Mean while themselves cannot even afford Carfeno.

  23. infact these guys end up being treated by Zambian doctors when they go to morning side. Hope he fully recovers and doesn’t have to spend our tax money like that

  24. Rashid :d Looks like she`s not a happy bunny! I have just worked it out.

Ba Chewe poseniko amano mukufwaya akamukashana nimwe ala!

Angela Cifire looked good on the photos, did you see them? If I wasn`t married I would have gone back ku Zed shuwa fye! Good reason for going back I think.:d

  25. why do people say they slept like babies when babies wake up like every two hours. 😮

any when will these cadres stop dancing for non performing champs in government at the airport
    :-t[-x

  26. these poloticians should better than just depending on going to south africa for medical problems. there should be doctors that are capable of operating on them than wasting money in joberg

  27. i wish VJ and all the privelegded govt officials quick recovery so that they stop using taxpayers money. It is immoral for a country to neglect its own health system and enrich another countries health system. This is abuse of office.I wish the zambian citizens had a way of sueing the govt on behalf of UTH..As an intern at UTH I remember there was no doctors room to rest in while waiting for patientsat night. So one guy cleared a room where dead bodies were kept before going to the mortuary. and thats where we rested in the night.Thats how highly doctors are considered in Zambia!

  28. why is every government minister being rushed to south africa for treatment.they should be ashamed of themselves. They are going abroad for treatment meaning they no how bad the local hopsitals are and yet they are the ones who are supposed to fix them.
may be if they improved our hospitals they wont have to go abroad.its simple logic.in most developed countries, the governments priorities are always health and education but not with this lot..when is this gonna stop…its so upsetting ..ahhhhhhhhh

  29. 1/2 NyamaSoya cabinet at Milpark or Mornigside clinic in RSA .Even former presidential advisor Cecil Holmes there, shock after being dropped. This is very disappointing. white Medical staff at that clinic have resigned due to frequent patients fromZambia arriving with HIV related illnesses. Now new employees Zambians nurses are the ones taking care of them. This is shameful, as the same could have taken care of them at UTH. These leaders a disgrace, failed to improve UTH & just running to RSA for medication for ear ailments. Atase.

  30. Lets stop wasting tax payers money on people like VJ. This country has taken care of this man since his early twenties. Its time he started giving something back to the nation by paying for his medical bills. Govt should spend money on people like Cardson Kabwe who still have something to contribute to the development of this nation. Lets get serious for once.

  31. Its a scandal for these bigwigs to be flown all the time to RSA even for “self inflicted” illnesses. why cant the same funds thats allocated to such be diverted and used to improve UTH ? Even ukutwi sure kubutukila pa South mwebantu ? Poor guy in Russia will surely have to wait because an ear is more sensitive than a heart.

  32. Sweet support to the South African economy- As it is in Zambia 50% or more of public resources are spent on politicians- God help us so that we do not end up feeling some of these clinics full of these people one day.

  33. How can an entire cabinet go for transfission in South Africa? My goodness!! This is serious. Imagine if they all come back as cargo. Our tax sure!!
You mean we have no ARVs in zambia? Nichoipa ka? 😕

People are now looking like robots! Holes and metal objects in the head!! Awee bane. Anyway, polani fast.

  34. **==

so not only did this man accused of rigging when he was in j’burg but also seriuos patient..i see..

    nine chale

suddenly you have become a priest man!! you sound very worred for VJ…

  35. When are these guys going to realize that we just can’t go on like this? Please Mr. President, Zambia needs good hospitals and now! If you sit down and calculate how much money has been spent on the treatment of “bosses” in South African hospitals you will see how wrong the whole thing is!
    “Imputti isula taileka!”

  36. That’s why we need a deliberate clause in our new constitution that no GRZ leader will be taken abroad for medical treatment and non of their offsprings will go abroad for education as with MP’s their offsprings should go to schools in their constituencies. Enough of this rubbish, how can you allow this in a country that fails to stock up clinics, hospitals etc with simple drugs and equipment. This is spolit my Monday after a good laugh at those Boxing pictures.

  37. Fellow SA residents (especially LT bloggers) please let us make an effort to visit our leaders while they are in hospital

  38. No more comment on this issue. we cant have an entire cabinet full of walking coffins!! Naya kuli Mable ku Boxing. My sister needs consoling Mwee. Shes in pain mu UTH. Banamumenya maningi please. Ati aona tunyoni tuchova Njinga! :))

    Bye:-h

  39. WE should feel ashamed as a nation if we cannot improve our health facilities and send the tax eaters to SA.

Please embrace urself visiting people in SA when they should be treated by our own docs. Gershom!!!! where are you.

Next it is chiluba and then ……………… Ba KK nishimbi bena bayafye ba UTH ingaifye that is why tabalwalila.

    Impiya shakulila abanenu pamutwe tabapola.

  40. This master dribbler is just wasting tax payers money. They guy is finished nama ARVS nayaleka nokubomba mumubili. This man needs to rest as long as he’s in the system we will always have problems during election periods. Next akabusha inkondo.

  41. He looks better, thank God for that. No one should wish another human being ill. It’s not VJ’s fault, if it’s part of his conditions of service, why not? It’s up to Banda to lead this country, hence I agree that the govt should improve our health system.

  42. why taking all these people to SA and not our local hospitals?…these are suppose to be our servants and not our masters!next time pliz treatment should be done here,so that they truly understand what a common person go through day in, day out..VJ and the other guys in SA your time is up…MAY GOD SAVE THIS COUNTRY FROM THESE EMPTY HEADED PEOPLE…….

  43. #86 in fact Ka’Doyo Please ask your madam to prepare four separate baskets of nsima. Tomorrow my wife will do it

  44. politians are just the same. they are not there for us but for themselves. others like sata are now quite on this issue of politians being evacuated to RSA because he part of the system. very greedy and just think of themselves.

  45. Others see a problem, others see tax payers money being wasted, others see a an opportunity to make political capital… I see Medical insurance business opportunity

  46. Who is paying for these people in South Africa? I think something must be done about UTH. We can not have every government officer flown to SA in case of an illness.

Secondly, the president should be able to scrutinize people before he appoints them to public office otherwise it is very expensive on our part as taxpayers.

  47. Health is very cadinal to every human being hence it is incubent upon all our leaders not to be induced with money to take a big risk working when your body is not well. I think Mr. Mwanga has served alot and now it is time for him to voluntalarly retire from active politics. If he is not brave enough let his Boss NYAMA SOYA terminate his duties on medical grounds the man is ill.

Do not force people to work when their health isn’t promising. Learn from exeprience! People forced LPM to stand in 2006, while other people did sympathase with him to quit on medical grounds alas was mislead by his selfish ministers who wanted to maitain their postions. Mr. Mwanga don’t risk your life!

  48. Sikatana was retired on medical grounds,i wonder why RB cannot do the same on this finished man.We are just wasting tax payers money please.

  49. ba V.J we have private clinics here in zambia if u are afraid of pipo seeng u pama que yama ARVs for u to trouble ur self goin to SA for medicals wich is not health 4ur condition 2travel long distances.kuyanda nama holes mumutu sure!!

  50. These folks have outlived their usefulness. No one has no clue on what to do to get out of this situation i.e. of flying patients to other countries in this era. It is embarrasing especially for a republican President to go and even visit those patients in hospital in SA. What happened to our hospitals and the very excellent Doctors that we train locally at UNZA? What does it take to build state of the art hospitals? So Cabinet is always meeting to discuss how much money is there for evacuations instaed of real issues i.e. infrastructure and Human Resource development. Folks, could you please educate the people on what type of leaders the morden world requires hhhhm!!!!

  51. plis my fellow zambians out there this picture is HIV/AIDS awareness telling us that AIDS is real.Be fathifull or play it safe know wat i mean.this pic has made me to think twice, especially ci hole

  52. It seems we have no hospitals in Zambia. Why are they all flocking to SA. There is something wrong Pa Zed. The poor are left to die if they can’t acess the same treatment in Zambia. The govt needs to upgrade the hospitals so that everyone can benefit. Am greatly embaressesd by this Govt. It seems we have a govt that thinks first for itself. I wonder who keeps voting for such people who only think for themselves.

  53. RB cannot retire this man he owes him a lot you people you cant read between lines what contribution is this man VJ really making to the development of this country. This system it not about performance but loyalty. why was Magande and Masebo fired? Those guys worked very hard. Its a matter of who is on my side meanwhile the country is being messed up.

  54. SHAME, SHAME , SHAME ON RUPIA’S GOVERNMENT. Zambians, let us make this medical trip trotting to south Africa an election issue in 2011. I think we need someone from the diaspora to be president next time. RB has just failed to rule. Can MPs in parliament impeach RB for failing to rule. Why is KK not advising RB on this issue?

  55. Bafikalla ba Kateta it hurts me to know my mother would have survived if this government had improved medical facilities am so sure it would have been a different story it really hurts that such useless people are the ones getting specialist treatment abroad.Am not even wishing anyone a quick recovery to hell with u devils.

  56. Vonse vadwala. Tax payers, how many of us pay tax besides VAT? Ndalama iyo is that which comes from donor agencies and governments for infrastructure and other necessities. Chi Banda kuyina. That poor boy in Russia needs a heart transplant and yet chi VJ chidwala kwatu and yet he never uses them so what if he loses one ear? This is as LPM would say “tantamount to treason”.

  57. #63 ESK. Let me tell you about last night. I had two visitors. A two weeks old baby boy (boys cry more by the way) and an eight days old puppy. They kept me awake alright. My eyes are red and I just feel like sleeping.

By the way, my visitors will be staying with me until April.

That thing about sleeping like a baby is so wrong.

  58. lets all [-o< and:-\"for all the sick both in Zed and in SA ,and ask OUR FATHER ABOVE to have mercy on those people who have done us wrong by stealing from us the POOR,AMEN.

  59. 123 ba Moze i dont like using those words but its my anger and frustration caused by these heartless devils..I could go on and on it hurts mudala.

  60. Please God help me.can someone please tell me ,hy this man has a plug in his head? Is his brain pour out or it’s rigged votes coming out?

  61. Uuummhhhhhuuu… Even the minister of mines is scared of the scenario… I feel like from that moment, he promised never ever in his life to take a risk. Look at the pic carefully… Wapya mwana. :-j:-j:-j

  62. NINE CHALE..

i like the way you handle certain issues, sign of maturity.keep it up man!!!! ^:)^^:)^^:)^^:)^^:)^=d>=d>=d>=d>=d>

  63. who needs to know how these thieves are doing anyway.

All they do is skwanda our money.

Why cant they go to the hospital in Zed.?

  64. VJ you know what? When LPM was alive people were calling him all sorts of names, cabage, alilwala etc. when he died, he was now an angel… In short as Zambians we praise somebody when he departs to the other world. Therefore,MY GREAT ADVISE TO THE WASTE POLITICIANS OF THE ERA, ESPECIALLY KA CHILUBA NA CHI VJ… KU FWAFYE! So that tukale mi misinga… >:/

  65. #128 zimandola

sorry my dear brother, may the lord comfort you even as you keep living on the face of the earth.please find it in your heart to forgive these people, they know not what thery aree doing. my deepest condolensces…

  66. “Yesterday, president Rupiah Banda visited Mr Mwaanga, and Chief Justice, Enerst Sakala who is currently undergoing medical treatment in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I wish all the SICK people, associated with the 17 yr old GRZ,of grandparents’ ages all the best and a quick recovery. When they go back to Zambia, let them resign.

  67. ba moze

mwaya bwangu.why just hang on LT is just about to post something new.dont go ppppppplllllllliiiiiiiizzzzzzzzz!!!! <:-p<:-p

  68. #145, Yaba ine chayamba nibaba manje… I am becoming a muslim so that some sucide filya… thats the only way some of these chaps can leave offices. They really suck!

  69. 145. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe continued.

There are a lot of young people who can take up their positions which is stressful for these would-be grandparents, if they are not yet. Why stress themselves and become sick unnecesarily when they can enjoy relaxing at their farms or old-aged homes, if there are any in Zambia?

Also, I would like LT bloggers to seriously think of donating money of say US$10 per month to an account which can be dedicated to funds reserved for the purchase of heart related diseases equipment to be installed at the UTH.

  70. Good for you VJ…then again having thought about it, you do not deserve to be treated at the expense of taxpayers. After being exposed in the Katumbi (Katanga Governor) saga, you are the least person to be given precious space in any medium. I for one do not need to hear anything about your health status. :-w

  71. 153. Zoe greetings, hhe hhe hhe hhe.

Honestly writing. There is no point to cling to GRZ positions when you know that your body is tired out of the stress you pressure it with. I believe that all those OLD GRZ or former MMD GRZ Officers can do themselves justice by checking themselves regarding the interest of the Nation Zambia.
My very own mother would always be the LAST ONE to eat at home when she sees that all of us CHILDREN have started eating. This in a way was TRUE service to the children by a CONCERNED noble parent. Such is what I wish to see in President RB Banda as in him sending would-be Dr Cardson Kabwe to an operation room to fix the heart problem followed by those old.

  72. People why can’t we just make ourselves part of South Africa. Since we havely depend on them, If you cant beat them just join them.

Football, Shopping, Food, steel, cement, transport, education, employment not forgetting medical attention etc etc.

VJ and team get well soon, RB will definatly need you again in 2011

  73. 155. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe continued.

I feel for the current 17 yr old MMD GRZ for they have from time to time failed to learn from their mistakes. Good enough for them, some old recycled politicians are taking advantage of people to vote for them on TRIBAL GROUNDS using their Image-builders’ media output.

How I hope Zambian can UNITE with unison to show all old men and women that this is our (YOUTHS) time to implement what we have been learning at school for the betterment of those same old people and children whom we should be ready to give jobs when they will be 20 yrs as we also retire at 55 yrs.

  74. I wish them all a quick recovery. But I have a reservation: Why have they all flocked to the same place? I am sure they are aware that the health institutions mu Zed is in a dilapidated state. :(:(

I hope next time some one will not answer a Lord’s call on their way to these luxury clinics. :-w

  75. Cost of bills and accomadation for a week on average is $10,000 meaning forty grand for the 4. The CJ and PD have been there for over two weeks – there are also bills for there spouses to be added. This is insane in a country whose hospitals cannot stock panadol.

  76. 10. Ba Moze
Stick to facts please. VJ is the ONLY member of the cabinet in RSA for medical attention, according to this story.
The Chief Justice is not a cabinet minister. Cecil Holmes is ‘former’ cabinet minister. Why do we find it so easy to lie through exaggeration? HIV prevalence in Zambia is about 20%, conservative estimate. Which means 1 in 5 are infected. If there are 25 cabinet ministers 5 may be HIV positive, if cabinet ministers are a representative sample of the population. So also are 1 in 5 voters.

  77. people lets as be serious, this VJ is the same man who Infected a mother and went on to infeect the mothers daughter, he didnt stop at this but gave the mother an grand child infected with HIV. Where is Lucy Muyoyeta Please? The longer we keep VJ in public life the more damage. Most of to ma famale ministers are suspect clients to VJ. Watch out. Any get well soopn VJ.

  78. #158/159, Me I lost it at 24. But I am still looking for it in an attempt to find.

Please reserve it for an appropriate time. Please bloggers, lets =d> for them!

  79. “Diversity of opinions reflects different personalities, backgrounds, ages, etc.” – my current Advisor.

Hon VJ Mwaanga, Mr Chief Justice Sakala, Mr Homes and Minister Peter Daka; I wish you all a quick recovery. Please, do me a favour by asking President RB Banda to send his GRZ sponsored student student for a heart operation as soon as possible when the President comes to visit you.

    ===
LT 2008 Award Winner. =; for Zambia in 2011.

  80. #164, where did you get those facts? Thats there own folly. Surely, how can you have unprotected sex with someone who is not your husband/wife?

And please attacking somenone in that way is utter stigmatisation! Please lets refrain from doing that. [-(

  81. Our politicians are greedy people. They have no idea of what happens at UTH b coz they fly to SA when they are sick. And 4 that reason no one sees the need to impove the hospital and the welfare of our Doctors. A lot of pipo die at UTH b coz they can not afford to buy prescribed medicine, they are poor, they don’t have money, but there’s all the money to take finished politicians to SA. :-w

  82. Well, the issue here is that as long as ministers and other so called vips continue going to SA for treatment and check-ups they will not pay attention to local medical conditions. People must rise up and speak against this vice, these are issues that peaceful demonstrations must be made for. I wonder if an ordinary Zambian knows or understands what it means to be sending these people to SA. Every life is precious and every person has a right to life.

  83. Shimapepo

  86. so if i am not a govt official then am dead. yakosa league pa zed. no wonder health care field isn’t taken seriously coz the ministers go to SA for treatment on tax payers’ expenses. we c young and potential zedians daily due to lack of proper medication and equipments yet the “usual ones” are taken to SA for good treatment. god help us.

  87. I think the picture of VJ in Zambia Daily Mail has made a tremendous recovery/improvement than the one in Lusaka Times. Please keep politician pictures current. Please you advisers remind these politicians that lets not show pictures because previous pictures contradict recent ones especially if you claim tremendous improvements.Luckily you mentioned names otherwise we can’t even tell whose pictures these are for. Also learn to to Identify the other guys in pictures ….. shushushu, chola boy or relative?. Learn to account to tax payers.

  88. #158 & 159 sh…sh…. dont let VJ hear you, he believes he will be completely healed if he sleeps with a virgin. He will come after you, that hole in his head helps him hear from his bed side……..

  89. Countrymen it is no easy task to rig elections. You have to be at the level of practical Engineer. Like thieves. They think hard before attacking. Things are well calculated so much that we even suspect witchcraft. VJ is a great thinker and has to survive that way. RB cant think or plan for himself he needs VJ at any cost. RB will survive for as longs VJ lives

  90. Imiti ikula empanga. The bembas saw that its true, now the young people in zambia are denied good education because of poor infrastructures of schools nad equipment, a medical student is sick in Russia, no one is keen to attend to his needs and you expect him one day with the mighty blessings of God he gets better to come and work for mother zambia?????? mulota. Mayo mpapa naine nkakupapa. VJ its sad indeed, wish him good health, but please reserve some funds for the young one who are coming up as future leaders. Your time was then, give chance to other people to lead in zambian politics. so you mean no GP could drain that chipute at UTH? lusaka trust or any hospital mu zambia? I wonder/

  91. These are signs of the end,
    Symptoms of a failing state.
Take heed patriotic Zambians, brothers and sisters.
Zambia is going down the drain!
Wake up and fight for your motherland!

  92. To be alive it’s full of challenges. To be dead it’s peaceful though it’s the conversion that is trouble some. The un inspiring VJ seems is now headed for a peaceful time.

  93. few days ago, there was a shocking story of a zedian student in russia being ill. is there anything new or the LT have been threatened by govt.??? why can they do the same to that student?? does he need to be a minister to become recognized?? its time zed start caring about youths – we are the potential leaders. the govt. must introduce a better system to tackle the education and health care fields. it is embarrassing for a country like zambia to continue taking these “govt officials” to SA when its been more than 40 years since we gained independence. there has been hardly any improvement from the time we gained “independence”. i hope the govt. will improve the sectors mentioned above.

  94. South Africa is only two away from Zambia, but boy what a difference there is in medical facilities. Mwaanga goes to have ichipute behind the ear cut of in South Africa…shame on Zambia. you mean no doctor could do that in Zambia?

  95. # 169, You should even change your name of shimapepo. You seem off mostof the time u pop up. Look here people dont hate VJ, but imisango. This is the man with most worst trands in life. Talk of drugs, plander, sex just to mention but a few. But goverment keeps to reward him for all this. I mean self confessed drug dealer, but chiluba gave a job before,LPM did too and now RP. You mean pa zed we have no other pipo who can enerstly do something for ZED? Look how he pushed Ka siliya. As ba mondo musik. Thats why she got the courage to flog Zamtel. Grow up shimapepo and cry the pipos cry. He just needs to be tken to a drop in certre and not SA.

  96. # 12 . I totally I agree with you. This is very disgusting indeed. During Dr Kaunda Era, we did not see anyone being air lifted overseas or to neighouring countries to seek medical attention, all of us including Dr Kaunda were going to UTH.It is amazing that even the president himself can go and visit Mwaanga & the other guy , in hospital in South Africa.Doesn’t he see anything wrong with that ? What about the ordinary Zambians ? Where do they go when they are sick ? But kwena!!! And then we have all his ministers who are supposed to be advising the President but they can not even say a thing, mwenso nangu ninshi ? Politicians please get some international exposure. T

  97. By my last count VJ had his 10th wedding, can someone give me an updated number. And please Lusaka times pick on the question posed regarding expences paid by the Zambian Government for politians treatment in South Africa.

  98. VJ amaze me.is that same chipute we saw when he went to Durban during elections in october’2008?,or the twin sister or its the #2 in sequence?there are better needs we can attend to than that.surely we are not sharing the natioanl cake equally.infact they pafwabantu………….. 🙁

  99. We’re a nation of jokers! How does the world look at us with a batch of high profile people (Sakala, Daka, Mwaanga & Holmes) ailing in a neighbouring country at tax payers expense. It baffles me that some fat cat can’t sort out UTH and would rather live in falsehood by sending himself and his cronies to RSA and UK. When push comes to shove, UTH is where we all end up in case of an emergency; even the distance from Cairo to Paris may just be too far to cover! What choice do our people in Chibolya and other places have when they get sick but to die in oblivion because UTH is underfunded and ill-equiped. We would rather enrich the South Africans who not so long ago were lynching us.
