Sex workers flushed out of guest houses in Solwezi

Share

A combined team of Solwezi district council officials, Zambia police, health inspectors and stakeholders led by district commissioner Albert Chifita on Saturday swung into action closing illegal taverns and some guest houses .

The team also flushed out commercial sex workers from the guest houses .

Mr. Chifita said the illegal premises have not complied with the provision of public health Act cap 295, food drug Act cap 303 and local government Act Cap 281 of the laws of Zambia.

He said some of the illegal taverns were operating without toilets and were throwing litter anyhow thereby making the places very dirty.

He stated that the operation of the team was done to bring sanity to the district and stop the spread of cholera.

Mr. Chifita and the team were saddened to find that two guest houses have been turned into brothels.

He said in one guest house, many young ladies were found hibernating in their rooms pretending to have brought some merchandise into the district for sale.

‘Some women had permanently taken over rooms in some relatively cheap guest houses in the name of doing open and common trade like any other traders yet their motive was after men’, he added .

Police and council workers however locked up the premises after confiscating double mattresses and forcing all the ladies who were found in these rooms to leave immediately .

A 28 year old lady who identified herself found at one of the guest houses during the operation told ZANIS that she had come from the Copperbelt to Solwezi to the “self body traders” because she wanted to earn a living after her father.

The District Commissioner warned that the practice of harboring prostitutes as permanent clients in rooms was creating artificial shortage of accommodation for genuine visitors to Solwezi and also encouraged the spread of HIV/AIDS.

He pointed out that keeping prostitutes in rooms permanently for illicit activities was dangerous because some of them even harbor criminals in the same rooms.

The number of prostitutes has increased in the recent past in Solwezi due to the mining activities .

  1. Morals yes, but do they have a constitutional right to carry out such an operation? If the lady can pay for the room, where is the problem? Being a prostitute does not mean they dont use condoms. Come on guys, dont pretend, ka? Tamubomfya ama condom?
Closing the illegal lodges, yes, but evicting these sisters of ours from legal lodges, no! Bamutana iya free ati close it? [-x

  2. When its monthend in Solwezi and a week after, amahule yala shota!!! They are hooked up and it might temporary seen Solwezi is calm of prostitution!!!

  3. Legallise it and see how many will come forward to register. Mwandi, as a christian nation No!Lets flush them out for good. They are polluting the environment ka

  4. Good action but i think those sex workers have a right to be in those guest houses as long as they pay for them.
    Hi Pinkly dear 😡

  5. A 28 year old lady who identified herself found at one of the guest houses during the operation told ZANIS that she had come from the Copperbelt to Solwezi to the “self body traders” because she wanted to earn a living after her father.

BA LT PLEASE ‘AFTER HER FATHER DID WHAT?NI MWEBO MULELENGA TULEPONTA IFIBI.

  6. Bearing children with out a blue print of how to take care of them until they are capable to stand on their own has resulted in a rise in “body trading” some times even to benefit their parents! Shame on such fathers and mothers

  7. Aba ma sex fimo fimo have got rights too, you know. One official wants a free one and is turned down, ati i will close up the lodge! that is wrong. No where in the laws of Zambia does it say you should evict sex workers from lodges. Is the word “sex worker” written on ones forehead?

  8. Hi Rashid, Jamaco, Zoe, Baby C, Nine Chale….everyone.If ur weekend was just half as nice as mine, then you had a good one.

Hmm, LT,what do you mean to make a living after her father? and shame, evacuated even if their payments havent expired, is that fair/legal?.
I feel sorry for these people but i also refuse to believe there is absolutely nothing else they can do to make a living…atleast 1 sugar daddy kanshi…
Honestly, i blame thier clients who promote them.

  9. There is so much work in Solowezi. These girls are assisting to relieve pressure and tension, ka? Chibi ukuba tamfya. So, is the council going to provide replacements? 😕

  10. Hey bloggers, help Lt by lundenipo mwebene…after her father’s death or something to do with inchito ukupwa filya…mwalishiba fye mu mine.8-x

  11. Whats Mr Chifita’s interest in this? Was he refused services by one of the ‘self body traders’? There are no jobs in Zambia, so if the govt can permit the Chinese & Indians to employ Zambians at low wages, why not allow these self employed businesswomen do their business. After all its at owners risk & they dont demand much. There is potential job creation in this ‘hospitality’ business especially that the women involved are ‘self employed’!

  12. someone has to force them to stop pulizi sex is not sport ka awe, how can they sleep with countless number of men.

Ok if it is poverty why cant they stop after raising enough for business?

  13. It could mean after the father “sampled her” which introduced her
to this business. Since she’s wounded, she’s out there to give anyone who wants. Not 4geting the benefits of sin “death” Abalefwaya ukula imfwa go ahead. God deliver you.

  14. most of these chaps pretend that they are poor when infact it is just an excuse to over indulge in sex with different men.

  15. Relax

Awee boyi. Dont blame these sisters. How can they raise enough for business when we are the same people who like ku tondela? When they say 20 pin per hour, imwe ati,”no! 3 pin eyo nkwete”. Now how can you raise money like that?

  16. I guess the Mable has point ka, she wanted to make more than 3 pin. But ba moze, how can a woman who has slept with hundreds of men be worth more than 1 pin?

  17. Ba Moze!

I am fine. Just wondering if at all heaven is ours or its reserved for other pipo. Imagine these are our sisters.
Pray for them so that they get delivered.

  18. Hi Jenks, Tionge and Miss Daisy. these sex workers have a right to accommodation at any Hotel, lodge or guest house like any other person.

  19. These girls olo niku vutika si so. Benangu ba kazi ba pasa nabafana monga ma form 1. Imagine form 1 kugona nachimukazi cha 45 years. Bafana ba baononga kuli aba bantu.

  20. Olo kubapasa ma loan benangu sibangaleke. Ba shobelela kugona naba muma bambili. Its more like drug addition. Mwamuna mu monzi a a sayama.

  21. These prositutes are actually a set back to the nation as their existance is leading to the spreading to HIV and AIDS. GOOD ACTION- Keep up with it!

  22. I’m so sad and shocked. Mr. Chifita can only close two brothels in Solwezi? i have worked there at Kansanshi Mine. I can name the brotherls
    1. Steve More 2. Tall Trees 3. Bothels Next to Why not if not. 4. Country Travellers.
    5. Sherperd Guest house
    6. UNAMUNO
    7. behind Blue House.
    8. The Brothel Opposite the mwinilunga bus station

These are well known ones in Solwezi. They habour each 25 girls and more.

  23. ba moze are you a prostitute too? u dont know what u r talking about thiz prostitutes really inconvinience inoncent pipo who genuinely book rooms in such lodges so why shud they pretend to be customers no its not right

  24. these chaps are just lazy utulo sana, their can do hair plating mwaliba ama monies even here in Zambia just Thandiwe’s hair style she had ku paliament that is 20pin so if you can do that hair style for five people a day you are talking of a K100pin i have a friend in Cape Town doing hair plating and she told me that alot of Zambian girls are in that busness in south Africa their started just here in Zambia ka capital ka truck iya

  25. Despite prostitution being the oldest profession,we have so many people going into it now because of economic difficulties most Zambians are facing. At one time i lived in Kafue and it was common for parents to send thier daughters for prostitution as means of survival.

  26. Dr Bill

Was that operation constitutional to have even been led by a whole District commissioner? Does that make one a prostitute by looking at it from that angle? Those are your sisters, so mind what you say and be objective. We are discussing here not attacking each other. Ndimwe ba new kapena?

  27. these chaps are just lazy utulo sana, their can do hair plating mwaliba ama monies even here in Zambia just Thandiwe’s hair style she had ku paliament that is 20pin so if you can do that hair style for five people a day you are talking of a K100pin i have a friend in Cape Town doing hair plating and she told me that alot of Zambian girls are in that busness in south Africa their started just here in Zambia ka capital ka truck abale South .

  28. Rashid Jones hahahaha, yaaaaba. Don’t worry, I can assure you they have no right unless they are genuine guests and are paying their bills and not craving for BP VISCO 2000 or VEGEBOOM, whatever the case they need to be rehabilitated.

  29. Mofya nkwale i agree with you they should hv closed more than 3 i know what goes on in solwezi too. they are increasing the level of Hiv and aids

  30. Ba Moze

Just imagine bamudala, ka form 1 kauza muzake ‘lindila first nili nachigelo, pelako fye 30 minutes’ Chigelo icho chili 45 years.

  31. Ba Moze sorry for my attack now i know u r a gud person, but my point is its not constitution but we dont nid to wait for something to be constitution for us to take an action what they did is very right the only wrong thing they did is to close just 2 brothels instead of more

  32. Dr Bill #66

Apology accepted. So then, what could be the solution, because all the council has done is put them on the street!

  33. legalize prostitution, have them form a union and tax them heavily so we can have better hospitals and pay our doctors well and so when the big mudala’s in SA can turn to Zambia for medical attention.

  34. Zoona ba LT elyashili. Ilyabuchende. Namumona how many people have got excited?

But why chase them? Business yapwa kubene ba ma guest houses. I would take them to court.

  35. To those sex workers,

Dont worry there is a marriage vacancy here, just write me on this address.Mtaworld p.o box ndefwaya ukupa bwangu bwangu.South africa.

Below are the qualifications Iam looking for.
You should know how to sing the national anthem
2.How to use the opener not ameno
    3.Very ugly so that tabampapwile
4.know how to spell your name.

    Closing date is Nganaupa.

  36. N0 52, am quiet impressed with your knowledge of the brothels and the number of the “ladies’ found there. need i ask how you came to be so enlightened?????

  37. The council has now put them out of hiding and on to the streets to be displayed! The council is creating more problems now , those so called body fimo fimos had rightfully paid for the rooms the were lodging in. And now those guest houses have lost clients…Ba DC, no skill kubanakashi, na ma hule ya lemi kana?=))

  38. I think it can only be desperation that leads these women to sleep with hundreds of men. I really feel sorry for them.

But let them stop the trade as soon as they have alternatives. This is where the problem is.

  39. This reminds me of that song “Amahule, amahuuulelleeee, amahule”

This is great news but they have already infected many as this should have been done a freaking long time ago

  40. jobs their all have been to school, and their can sell salt, better they sell their self to men with money its sad. they is a lot to be done in Zambia

  41. These people say their clients are sometimes high profile. Even some diplomats. Remember that PS who was swindled by a whore in Tanganyika? If they never had any business they couldn’t have been in the trade. Some claim to make as much as 500pin on an average day, and as much as 1.2M on a splendid day. This is the reason most of them ran away from Tasintha. I doubt if worldly needs can make them change, maybe some. Suppose we declare Sharia?

  42. Prostitution will be hard to fight for as long as the Goverment does not provide for it’s people.Flushing them out of guest houses is not the answer they can even do it at the street corner in the Night.Mwebuteko adopt Tasinta’s vision and see how people Change. These Associates are in it for survival and not pleasure as ba Chifita thinks.

  43. Please be analytical enough. Do not condemn these women. Condemn society…firstly these women are there because they know some one will pay them…and thats a man! Its a man who probably has even has a wife and children…but has lied he will be away fro a workshop in Solwezi.
Yabaaaaah! Its a vicious cycle. :d

  44. there are four professions that have always existed from time immemorial priests ,doctors , perhaps lawyers and prostitutes . why not legalize the trade. even during the time of Jesus some woman was caught in the act and Jesus forgave her . why is it that a women can have repeated orgasms ,that is their nature , sarah jones what is your take on this

  45. Prostitution is a very very old proffession. It is a very difficult vice to stop. Its roots are very long. Remember during the time of our Lord Jesus Christ there was that prostitute who was caught red handed and was almost stoned to death following the Laws of Moses but Christ intervened. Her life was served. Now think of it. When was that? Its about 4AD.Prostitution is a very difficult vice to stop.

  46. Unemployment levels have just been raised by chasing those bussiness ladies in the oldest proffesion in the world.Too bad :-\”

  47. awe kuti waseka. Flushing out sex workers out of the guest lodges is not the ultimate solution to prevent HIV/AIDS in POVERTY STRICKEN ZAMBIA. Ba DC Solwezi, whats the matter with you?? Zambia has no meaningful plans for all those who cannot be absolved in formal job placements. The same sex workers will find alternative accommodation to do their usual business. I wonder what sort of constitution ba DC Solwezi used. Since the job executed by the office of the DC has no job description at all, I am pretty much sure that the DC Solwezi’s action had no logic.

  48. Atleast they help relieve ichitendwe,am sure some solwezi guys will be bored,no proper entertainment coz manje ifintu ba Da nabachinga :d

  49. Ha ha ha, Matworld, you crazy.. Howzit?? Can i lodge my application??
Nomba i dont qualify with one thing…..Am hot hot hot lol

  50. somehow i dont blame those women coz pa Zed no job,no shelter, what we only have is porvety…
But again the good job by government to kick them out..Matenda wont finish…………. <:-p<:-p:-t:@)**==**==

  51. The ones with a problem are those who go to solwezi to work there.instead of going jus for work they go to work en get paid to buy sex.the goverment can’t do anything coz they are contributing to it.for instance they send a managing director to go work there en he likes parting,he has being paid in advance he wil start buying sex en the sex workers wil turn out to be more coz he will want to taste all types en shapes.so why can’t the govt for zed start paying them when they are back en when there are there they send the bills back to da office.no one can send a sex reciept to work to be cleared.

  52. #24, what rights do these insasiable whores have? Right to immorality, fornication or adultery?

These nocturnal workers should be treated more or less like armed robbers. They should be arrested and charged for public misconduct as many of them are literal nudity. But alas! they conive with police officers…! :-w:-w:-w:-w:-w:-w

  53. i c no reason y des pipol should b denied there cost of living bcoz no 1 is forced to doing sex.there4 lets jst legallize de same pleasure these guyz `r going thru.mind u sex ez health depending on hw u tek et. 😡
