Nissan Africa has observed that Zambia still has great

potential of Nissan vehicles market despite experiencing negative effects of the global economic meltdown.

Nissan Africa has since declared that it would this year focus on expanding its business potential to Zambia.

Nissan Regional Office Business Development Manager, Isa Giunta said despite Zambia being faced with the global economic recession, which has resulted in closures of companies and job losses in the mining industry, the country still had potential for market growth for Nissan products.

Mrs. Giunta was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.

She said Nissan Motor Company would further focus on expanding its business to other countries in the region which have market growth potential.

Mrs. Giunta cited countries such as Angola, Kenya and Nigeria as some of the countries that the company will consider expanding business to with a view to enhancing growth in its transport business.

She further said the company has decided to expand business to Africa because the continent was not very affected by the negative effects of the global economic meltdown.

She added that investment portfolios on the continent have continued to grow thereby providing potential market for motor sales.

Mrs. Guinta further noted that Zambia had continued to record international investment despite the global economic meltdown, which she said was an indication that the market demands for Nissan products could grow.

Mrs. Giunta also disclosed that Nissan Motor Company, which she said had the biggest market in the United States of America, had recorded a fall in the sale owing to the credit crunch which the world’s economic giant was currently facing.

Earlier, Nissan Africa, in collaboration with its dealer CFAO Zambia, showcased its latest Nissan Teana, a keyless entry vehicle, Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Pathfinder, and Nissan X-Trail, whose prices are said to be in the range of about US$76, 000 and US$85, 000 respectively.

    • Please Nissan you have to do that so that I can come and apply for a job.I don’t want my 3yrs I spent at Nortec doing Auto mech to be in vain.

  1. Let them all come. It is only good for the Zambian economy. More of this good stuff so that Jobs can be created. This is truly a blessing. we give thanks.

  2. Why are you all talking about jobs and investment when the article is talking about Nissan wanting to sell it’s products to Zambia after facing a sharp downturn of sales in other countries? Not that I want to dent the excitement but I’m not sure how many Zambians can honestly afford a vehicle worth US $ 85,000???

    • Nine Chale it is the positive talk from companies like Nissan that is putting Zambia back on the map. It becomes attractive for investors and in the end Jobs are created. Postivity is the way forward. Let us spread the news that there is room for more investors in Zambia. It is a long term strategie we are interested in and not money made overnight.

    • Jamaco you think like me. Its all about perception and positivity. In my books RECESSION doesnt exist!! People have jst been made sceptical and so are hoading money. That is what it is. Get positive news back on the markets and you will see everithing will fall back in to place.

  3. Sometimes i tend to wonder why people think Zambian cant afford like some of you guys on the blogg, who told you Zambians cant afford. u think if Zambians cant affod Nissan would be thinking of expanding their business there. There many people with money in Zambian than you think and i mean many.If you go to Zambia you will noticed a lot of New cars i mean new not those second hand from Japan. When you go to CFAO, Toyota,Citroen etc you will lots of people buying cars and others having a look, quotations etc.I thnk some of you havent been to Zambia lately.Traffic is even congested.Thats why even during this global crunch many countries are heading there, from diffrent countries including China

    • u’re right brother,i was suprised to see hummer H2 in chawama compunds.nissan is not even all that expensive

  4. What the chineese are doing those companies that are deciding to close(in Zambia-mines mostly) there(the chineese) are asking government to buy them and invest heavily in them. And would you say there are is no potential of expanding business in Zambia. Many of these are going to Zambia becasue its less affected by the Global cruch meaning it an area where business will continue to grow and profits continue to be made. Ther all sorts of businesses happening in Zambia so there is a lot of money in circulation, though as usual other get money in dubious means but the end result is its still money.Have you had a look at how many people are employed in Zambia the statistics show less people…

  5. There people who who are employed in Zambia who the government does not know that they are employed. Yet some of these people are paid good salaries too this is becasue some people deliberately do not register their workers with napsa even though its a must. But what still is the reality its still money in the same very country. When statistics say Zambia has an employed work force of about 60%,yet in reality its about 80-85%.So 25% of people are not really accounted for.
    There is money in Zed.

  6. On “She further said the company has decided to expand business to Africa because the continent was not very affected by the negative effects of the global economic meltdown”, I am wondering as to whether former Finance Minister N. Magande is correct when he says that he does not think the Global Financila Crises has affected Zambia while President RB Banda with his Administration continue to justify their failures by blaming the World Financial Meltdown.

One of these last few days, the IMF or World Bank representative made mention that Zambia has not been affected by the Credit Crunch.

In this light, is Mr Magande N. right? Or is it President RB Banda who is right with his MMD GRZ?

  7. Just has I welcome the idea who am I going to afford a vehicle worth $75000.I would rather get a dot com at $1500.

  8. $76000 for a Nissan???? are you serious or that is an error? coz u can buy a new Mercedes or range rover with that!!!! outrageous if its true…. im assuming its a mistake. correct me if im wrong LT. coz the most expensive nissan is the armada, less than $40,000.
