Republican President, Rupiah Banda, has with immediate effect appointed Mulobezi Member of Parliament, Michael Mabenga as Lands Deputy Minister.

Mr Banda said the appointment comes after the death of Chitambo MP, Nasim Hasir, who was deputy Minister of Lands.

“In exercise of the powers vested in me pursuant to the provision of article 47 (1) of the constitution of Zambia, I here by appoint you Deputy Minister of Lands with immediate effect,” President Banda said in a letter to Mr Mabenga.

President Banda said it was his hope that Mr Mabenga would execute his functions in an efficient and diligent manner.

  1. Why do we keep having the same people going and coming back? Oh sorry we have been given the answer already-powers vested! Uluse kubena Zambia ine!

  2. Hello we Akapondo, Yes Chirwa but he needs to put in the input now.
He is too queit on the serious issues affecting the country.
He needs to sound his possible policies and direction or is he totally agreeable to the MMD policies as a member.

  3. PF has a VP Guy Scot who as then Minister of Agriculture stole multi million dollar worth of livestock from citizens in goats, sheep. cows and many more fduring the livestock restocking project. This was under Chiluba early years following a debilitating Swine fear that had wiped hundreds of thousands of our people’s livestock. Chiluba fired him and in shame he went to form LIMA party which he failed, then started changing parties like a political vagabond till he found a partner in Mr Merzf Sata with shared backgrounds.Hon.Mabenga ploughed the money in the constituency people and not personal pocket. For that, no court has convicted him but agenda tabloid who are accusers, jurors, complaints, prosecutors, judges and jailers in their imagination.Produce the conviction if ever he has been.

  4. The same old corrupt chaps. Mabenga’s hands are not clean. He stole some CDF funds. Are there no people in MMD who cal lead us? I cannot wait for the pact to come in power…..

  5. How can Mabenga bounce back. This chap is a crook who stole some CDF money from his constituency in Mulobezi…MMD is full of criminals…

  6. VJ Mawaanga (Oxford and Hunter College Grad., UK and USA), 66 yrs, for 2011 Zambian President under the MMD as presidential candidate.
Following “Republican President, Rupiah Banda, has with immediate effect appointed Mulobezi Member of Parliament, Michael Mabenga as Lands Deputy Minister. Mr Banda said the appointment comes after the death of Chitambo MP, Nasim Hasir, who was deputy Minister of Lands. ” It is amazingly conspicuous how certain important details are missing in this news item.

Firslty MP and now Mabenga Micheal is currently MMD National Chairman who relinguished his MMD powers to allow President RB Banda act as MMD acting president just a while ago. Secondly, MP Mabenga hails from Western Province where a veep in MMD is needed at the convention.

  7. Also MP Mabenga has had cases together with MMD National Secretary Katele Kalumba over corruption. MP Mabenga also held a last appointment of full Defense Minister under late (former) President Mwanawasa LP.

Thus, this is a form of demotion and I am waiting to see if MP Michael Mabenga will accept the offer of Deputy Lands Minister.

However, it is cardinal to mention that this move is similar to the appointment of former Vice Presidents Nevers Mumba and Lupando Mwape as Ambassadors to Canada and China suffice to mention that 2011 campaigns have started. I just hope MP Katele Kalumba will also get a job to appease Luapula Province voters while former President Chiluba FTJ could be pardoned to campaign for MMD in 2011elections as all resources are needed to win.

  8. ACC to quickly move into the Ministry of Lands. This chap is corrupt and will definately bring his acts to the Ministry. The court found him with a case to answer over corruption but nothing to date has been done to him. Anyway, the muppet continues.

  9. This man is a terrible thief. He should have been caged by now. Heeee guys all the land will be stollen by Mabenga. Mabenga a thief appointed minister!!!!! hee, Zambia has gone to the dogs. May God help poor Zambians as their money is at risk.

  10. Mule,
The man is landing next week and begins the ground work immediately.he will be having townhall meetings across the country to meet different intelectuals and ordinary citizenry on a face to face basis.this will enable him him relay his vision to those with the ability to understand and digest what he has to offer.it’s from these meetings where he will get indicators on weather people realy appreciate his vision or not.so bigman everything is in place.and once he comes into power his main emphasis will be on infrastructure rehabilitation and developmant.he is saddened to note that everything that the wiseman kaunda built for this country is now in ruins.

  11. Senior Citizen (KB) at the US embassy!!!!!! how are you dear. How are your children and wife? I think you are enjoying life there and a lot of pono as that was your major at ZNBC. You remember how you lost the ZNBC job coz of showing pono to the Zambian? No wonder you behave like this, no heart for the suffering Zambia. Its coz you see all things in a pono way? Change or come 2011 we wil be on you man.

  12. LT must be laughing their lungs out to see your jealous evident by smear on innocent Ben Kangwa in DC.They see where i’m posting from, they just laugh at how handcapped PF cadres are. If you can fail on this simple and cheaper task, how about General Elections involving control?

LT, i sanction you to just hint to PF cadres how far my location is from DC where Ben Kangwa is.What would BK be doing in General Electric? I have special work and business skills that transform your live from poverty political cadre role you are resigned to to multi million Dollar corporate consults in special field if you basic undergraduate business or MIS (Computer Science degree.

  13. I was of the view that after what happened during Gladys Nyirongo’s time, we will now have serious people at the Lands Ministry. Now worse things are envisiged to happen that during Gladys Nyirongo’s tenure. Impanga bashitisha ku ma choncholi

  14. #7 Mule, be civil in your postings. Try to put a point across without looking ridiculous yourself. This is the same approach that your HH has adopted – insulting the President each time he opens his mouth instead of expounding to the people his vision for Zambia. Just wait and see the way he is going to tumble in 2011. There are a lot of mistakes that RB is committing but it looks like he is actually far much better than the opposition we have right now – I may be wrong from a distance.

  15. I don’t know what is wrong with Zed , but hopefully the SATA and HH pact work out better for our country as I feel ashamed to be a Zambian now….what is so special about recycling politician…. don’t you have fresh minds in the 40s for sure….something is wrong with Zed if the most powerful country in the world have forgotten about old people ………in Zed this is the fashion shame upon us.

  16. Even if this is some form if demotion, do you think kuti chakana? Kaili ni chi Mabenga no bupuba fulu mucimutwe.

  17. Zambia has recycled politicians because most young and educated people shun politics. This is the tragedy of Zambia.

  18. RB could have looked like an okay prsident in the sixties. This completely shows he can not understand how a conteprory leader should think. Too old for nothing. Young blood is the way foward. HH/ MUTATI FOR PRESIDENT 2011 !!!!!!!!!!!! Kuya bebele mwe fifyashi!
