ZAMBIA’s investment inflow has continued to rise with Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) approving investment licence applications worth about US$462 million in July.
A total of $461,976,525 planned investments were approved in July compared to $281.4 million approvals in June 2009.
According to the latest edition of the ZDA Spotlight publication released over the weekend, the investment presents a 40 per cent increase compared to the injections realised in June 2009.
The approved investment applications were from 28 applicants, with a total of 3,982 new job opportunities expected to be created once implemented.
The investments were from real estate, agro-processing, health, service and tourism sectors, and the construction, transport, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.
Agro-processing recorded the largest pledged investment of $267 million, followed by the real estate sector with about $88.7 million and other sectors shared the rest.

This is good news. The IMF has revealed that Zambia’s economic growth is set to beat the forecasts for this year. More investment flow in the nation is good news.

it’s not due to the g.r.z that we are seeing the investment in-flows. just some daring entrepreneur business people deciding the risk of doing business in zambia was manageable. it would be a good job by g.r.z if they stopped the business-of-running-business. just hoping zambians stop “playing” with their lives and learn EVERYTHING from these investors once they set-up shop.
Ok bla-bla job oprtunities will be created. this is true of most investments but what counts is the value of those jobs to the zambian and our economy. it will make no difference if the people employed work without porotective clothing, earn less than what is needed for survival. after all it is what employees earn that matters as it is what remains in our country .
This is great news. We need to learn from the bad lessons of the past and move forward
