File picture of 2008 Kitwe riot

Riot breaks out in Kitwe today following the release of Change Life Zambia executive director Father Frank Bwalya from custody on bail.

Confusion erupted when a Kitwe magistrate released Fr Bwalya on bail and his supporters who had turned up at the court to give him solidarity resorted to stoning vehicles parked near the court premises.

Rioters looted Kobil filling station which is located near the court as employees fled for their safety.
Police only managed to bring the situation under control after reinforcements were brought in.

A PF Councilor Elias Kamanga who is also PF Copperbelt youth vice chairman and 24 others have since been arrested in connection with the riot.

Meanwhile Fr Bwalya has been released on a K100, 000 bails after pleading not guilty to the charge of conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.

Kitwe senior magistrate Mercy Makubale has since set March 31st, 2010 as the date for the commencement of trial.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Antoneil Mutentwa said Fr Bwalya was arrested while distributing red cards for the red card campaign at the venue of Youth Day celebrations.

But Fr Bwalya said he was doing nothing wrong but merely trying to get a lift from someone when police officers pounced on him.

  1. MMD is playing perfectly into Fr. Bwalya’s plan. For no reason he is being made more popular and the “RED CARD” campaign will grow. Third Term Deja Vu???

  2. The police should try to be proffessional with their arrests these riots could have not been there if they had given this Bwalya police bond than treat him like a murderer why detain him at remand prison before court appearance? They should have known that some section of people will react to the arrest of this man so reforcement could have been there before hand.I often wonder what text book they are taught from at zambia police college it needs to be updated it is a matter of concern.

  3. I am deeply sad on “A PF Councilor Elias Kamanga who is also PF Copperbelt youth vice chairman and 24 others have since been arrested in connection with the riot” although relieved that a cadre Mr Frank Bwalya has been released.

The riot behaviour is very retrogressive for mother Zambia and I hope this Mr Frank Bwalya will teach his followers especially PF cares on how to behave themselves in our progressive country.

Be serious, MMD, and show that you have respect for your top party leadership.

On another note, UPND kwiinda mu-PACT yaboola. Mwapya munzi aba-eM eM Di. Viva PACT for 2011 elections under the visionary leadership of president HH of the UPND.
    _
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and these things shall be added unto you.

  4. The Red Card Campaign must go one till the MMD is kicked from power.2011 elections are irrelevant as more people will die under MMD misrule and mismanagent. This cancer called MMD must be erradicated now!! Long live the Red Card Campaign!!

  5. Leave Bwalya alone if you know whats good for you. The government is full of dunderheads who can’t read the situation. Arresting Bwalya only agitates the masses who just react to situations without reasoning. Anyway has this called Government sat down to analyze why people Bwalya and people react like that??? We the masses are not happy with the MMD and we are wallowing in poverty. A hungry person is an angry one. Don’t take people for granted. We want change and change we shall get.

  6. Where it indicates MMD, it should Mr Frank Bwalya’s cadres and they must respect the country leadership of Zambia.

  7. #4 Maestro, Remember if it was not for Cha Cha Cha movement to riot against misrule by British colonials you and your family would still be living in Northern Rhodesia without citizenship.Sometimes any means necessary need to be employed to defeat evil.Even your favoured UPND under Mazoka once had to deploy the Mapatizya formula to fend off the cancer called MMD.If the name of Fr Bwalya began with H your comments would be different.

  8. This Priest should tone down. Those of us catholics are ashamed. If he has joined politics, he should his prefix removed instead of embarssing the church. The church cannot contend wih allegations of womanising amongst the clergy compounded with irate priests like Fr Bwalya. The man shouldnt think he is popular, he also needs to analyse the calibre of pipo that support him, Mweba patili mwatunasha mwe!!!

  9. Which law says distributing red cards which have nothing written on it is an offence? I refused to get one card since there was no message on it. So I dont see why MMD/Kabonde should provoke unneccessary disturbances in Town.

  10. # 9, dont you think you are too quick to judge? Fr Bwalya claims he was getting a lift from a friend therefore didnot do anything wrong. Its only fair for you to pass such comments when the he is found guilty. For now we can only wait for the trial.

  11. The government and its police service should be held to account for this outbreak of violence and lawlessness. We are in danger of having widespread civil disobedience simply because of lack of foresight and intelligence on the part of the state and its instruments of oppression. No wonder RB had to go to Malawi.

  12. Surely, Just one individual can bring the town to a standstill then it signals that there is a wrong somewhere between what he’s advocating for and the toes he has stepped on. Let this be the last time they are arresting this man coz people here rise whenever he is arrested. As for Kamanga Our councillor in Ndeke Village, BUPE ward it is unfortunate coz this is the second time he has found himself in the net .

  13. its being reported here in S.A that the MMD government is actually depriving the Zambian people of their democratic right to freedom of speech by threatening or arresting anybody thats againest RB8->

  14. So bamuchosa and you riot what if he was kept in i confused why riot if he has been let out???

This is why i think people just react to entertein thelselves when it comes to voting its a different story i wouldnt be suprised come election time people still vote MMD.

  15. #15 that’s interesting, a feature of this kind of MMD activity is that they think nobody is going to notice

  16. You had it coming Nyamasoya. Worse things could happen. The lesson here is that you dont use draconic measures on someone who is just expressing an opinion. Democracy is about freedom of expression. You should have merely ignored him and focussed on what is wrong with your rule or manifestos unless you are so scared s.hit of your own shadows that you will balk at anything you imagine is in your way.

  17. Rupiah should know that the time for Vigilante state is long gone. william Banda, this is a warning to you. Violence by police or givt biget violence. This time Zambian are more ready than the time of Kaunda dn Chiluba’s third term. We want democracy, dont take us for granted..William Banda, watchout

  18. Since he does not preach anymore… Should he be called “Father”? Or he is just a son of something now…???

  19. :-\”:-\”:-\”:-\”:-\”:-\”:d/:d/:d/:x:x:x:x:((:((:((:((:((:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-viva Fr. Bwalya, continue with red card compaign we behind you viva Fr. Bwalya

  20. Fellow Zambians, can we please get rid of this Lupiya and his MMD cohorts, and get Chiluba behind bars? Anyone there got ideas how we can best defeat these savages next year? Manela, wena!

  21. RB is out on tour in Malawi while the country burns. # 21, the man is an ordained priest so he can use his title. # 13 are you an MMD supporter?

  22. Man of God or Agent of Satan?

“Ye shall know them by thier fruits”

Jesus said “blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called children of God”

I notice that no one has condemned the display of voilence by PF and thier false prophet FFB are we still a Christian Nation? let us identify who/what power is influencing some of these guys remember even Satan sometimes masquerades as an angel of light. BEWARE!!!!

  23. #16 No the report is wrong, these riots starte at 09hrs from Mukuba house. The MMD news just want to confuse you. Its because of riots that the nutty father has been released.

  24. Frank Bwalya is a spiritual fraud! He really wants to see Zambia die! God forbid that we call this charlatan a priest. You shall know them by their fruits. Do you really anyone can be saved listening to this waffling monk?

  25. # 21 @ Bruce Diesel – – What do titles of Lt.General, Colonel remind of? Don’t show your ignorance to the public! He will for ever be a “Father”

  26. It appears CB lack social amenities, where do these people find the time for all this nonsense.Yes there is no employment but every time its CB riots, people get a life%-(%-(%-(%-(%-(%-(

  27. #26 Deja Vu
Thanx for clarifying i just couldnt get it i quess i will have to wait for more infor for the matter to be clear…we shall wait until after the dust settles

  28. Umublacks, how do we tell if its a man of God or Agent of Satan? The violence happening has been caused by our Government. Imagine this if it was ok to flash red cards, if it was ok to accept critism, do you think Riots would have happened? Just 1 question my brother, you stay in a democratic country ( RSA) do you think flashing a red card would land you in jail? never mind by passing the police cells but straight to jail?

  29. Imwe shuwa 8->8-> is this how Kitwe town looks like now????@-)@-)@-)8-x*-:)**== Zambia is really going to the dogs#-o#-o#-o#-o3:-o3:-o3:-o:(|):(|)

  30. People on the copperbelt in Kitwe were rioting for a just cause, Frank Bwalya is non partisan but it not surprising to know why MMD hates him, (the truth hates) what case did he commit for him to be sent straight to jail maybe with this kind of behaviour our leaders will realise how agrieved people are. A hungry man is always a angry man.

  31. Reminds me of the food riots of December 1986 and June 1990 which brought about the fall of KK.
    Remember Mwamba Luchembe?
Bwezani is a traveller ruling the country by remote control.
    Let Us wait and see

  32. # 21 Bruce Daniel,

General Miyanda still uses the title. So does shikapwasha. Does it mean that when these two speak, they are speaking for the army?

Back to the topic, the arrest was totally uncalled for. It just made a non issue become suddenly noticeable to every one. The first time I heard of the red card campaign was after the man was arrested.

The PF should also be strongly condemned if they fanned the violence. The man has been released, what more did you want? This lawlessness should not be tolerated and these are the chaps the police should be arresting, not the Father. On the material day of distribution, there were no riots, and I do not see how waving a red card is lawlessness. The police needs to educate us on this one

  33. Remember my song? Burn burn burn, Burn mother facka burn. This is what I had mentioned before. Zambia is not personal to holder by RB and his cohorts. How can you Zambians let a Zimbabwean rule you and start throwing you in jails? Time to stand up for your rights fellow Zambians.

  34. #29 You have insulted CB no wonder you are idle in thinking! CB has gone through a lot of things from being one area in Zambia where things were happening those days to some towns being declared ‘ghost city’! Do you think people take matters here lightly, the answer is a BIG NO! A big Phuno! If CB experienced the floods and no one was taking matter seriously you would have heard the same sorry of today, coz that’s the nature of the people which should be emulated but all citizens who want to leave a better place for their children, period!!!

  35. #38
The Army is different from the Church when you are nolonger part of the Church you are nolonger refered to as father… Maybe only you friends and family and those that are just too used to refering to you as father.

AND FOR THOSE THAT KEEPING SAYING THEY DONT SEE ANYTHING WRONG IN DISTRIBUTING RED CARDS… WELL THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BUT THERE WILL BE DEPENDING ON THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU DO IT… MR BWALYA HIMSELF SAYS HE WAS ONLY GETTING A LIFT HE REALISES THAT IT WAS NOT THE APPROPRIETE FUNCTION. IMAGINE AT A GAY WEDDING DISTRIBUTING CARDS OF WHATEVER COLOUR TO SYMBOLISE YOUR HATRED FOR GAY PEOPLE WHAT DO YOU THINK MIGHT HAPPEN???
What he is doing might be a good thing but he should be carefull in the manner that he does it. A lot of activits chain thelselves to all sorts and…

  36. #29 Read some of the books written after independence and you will find a lot about Kitwe – especially Mine-Townships like Wusakile, Mindolo and Chimwemwe. After, doing that, get back and report to this blogger coz you are people who confuse especially those who have never stayed in Kitwe or Mine Townships for that matter when collective reasoning is required!!

  37. My Guess is that Referees will be scared giving Red Cards to unruly or foul player during Football matches on the Copperbelt esp. for fear of being bundled into Kamfinsa Remand.

  38. cont…
like the father rights campainers who desrupt parliament at times, those against more run ways at airports they all get arrested and later released so what so space that you should argue that Mr Bwalya should go ahead and desrupt peacefull gatherings all in the name of getting RB and MMD out of office. Get serious bane its like i have a wedding which attracts a lot of people then in the midst of it some chap called Bwalya starts destributing political material its simple logic what he is doing might make sense but it doesnt me he should do it carelessly

  39. CAN SOMEBODY HERE HELP TO DISTINGUISH THE GREEN RIBBON AND THE RED CAMPAIGN COZ I REMEMBER FOR ONE I NEVER GOT ARRESTED FOR PUTTING ON ONE ON A FRIDAY?

  40. Time has come again to chase those who are stealing from us Zambian,Listern Zambia we do not have two Zambia but one Zambia for Zanbian who belong to the PACT PF and UPND kwasila so let Fr Bwalya alone he is just reminding you that time has come for non Zambian to leave like RB and his friends.

  41. Ba #46
Look at the matter objectively say a player got a red card during a match and everytime he is holding a press conference or just attending a social event you start distributing red cards how do you think he might react. Even if you are campaigning for more respect in the game do you think that is the right way to do it???
Other events are meant for other things let them be just that

  42. Those of you who still believe in Mr Bwalya you will have yourselves to blame. See how Sata is embarassing you! You never learn. This mob psychology will never take this country anywhere. People must learn to obey the law. Just imagine Bwalya is now claiming that he was just getting a lift! Remember he said the same thing the last last time he was in trouble. Beware of these cameleons.

  43. I do not really understand this story, how can a riot occur after the release and not before, were the rioters not happy that he had been released?

  44. This is just the beginning of more troubles to come. William Banda is another real threat, he has issued warnings in the last few days and has not spared cabinet ministers, their deputies and NEC members who he claims are secretly organising to decampaign the president. It’s only the president who can help the situation by condemning without bias any engaging or threatening violence. The arrests and detention should be extended to MMD thugs who have in the past got away unpunished.

  45. MMD (UNIP) are diging their own grave once more.
This is a perfect way of doing it. They are busy miscalculating everythign and playing very ancien politics of the UNIP era vigilantes. Only consolation is that come next year they ll be very much outta power!

  46. I think Fr. Bwalya is a nuthead, but unfortunately the MMD are making him a hero. This kind of intolerance to critisism is taking the country back to the UNIP days. On the other hand, maybe UNIP has now taken over the MMD hence the UNIPist behaviour we are seeing all over. I always thought MCS was the greater evil but now I aint so sure.
As I know, Fr. Bwalya is a one-man band with his ‘Die Zambia’ movement. The PF will always support him if he’s fighting RB – the enemy of my enemy is my friend. But this sure is a strange way to celebrate somebodys release. I shudder to think what would happen if they were celebrating a bigger event – liking winning presidential elections.

  47. #52. So by your own words, Frank B is consistent.

It also goes to show you that he is smart.

As regards following the law, who reaaly are the breakers of law in Zambia? Politicians who keep the youth hungry so that they can take advantage of them – call them cadres and send them on cheap political errands. Do you even know what law is?

  48. Compromise for the warring parties: Lets ban red traffic lights, red brake lights, red valentines day cards, red tomatoes, red eyes (hangover), Man U t-shirts, aka red etc

  49. #56. Can we liken UNIP to the stalk borer? Whatever it gets into rots. MMD should have promoted Mutati. He is about the only level headed individual I see in MMD.

  50. I think if the police just left Fr Bwalya to distribute his red cards nothing of consequence would have happened. But they have instead made him out a victim and hence a hero, showing that trully our govt stifles freedom to oppose their views aka freedom of speech.yes lets ban red traffic lights, red tomatoes since red pieces of paper can lead to ones arrest.

  51. # 53 I think this is when they got the chance to riot. At they time they grouped together at the court so it was a good opportunity for them to riot.

  52. Its little things that knock out the haughty: Goliath – slingshot, Al Capone – syphilis, Queen Marie-Antoinette – bread, Sani Abacha – a small hole. RB – red card?

  53. Imwe don’t be quick to condemn those rioting, if you have had no meal for two days and when you speak your mind out no one is listening then you can riot for someone to listen. You have a shitty govt that thinks its it who a an average zambian who has been looking for a job for the last 7 yrs and can’t find one because there is “its who you know” to get a job. Get a life, if they will listen with VIOLEnce then let it be….period!

  54. Fr Bwalya is quick in trying to be a popular figure and using the wrong methods. He should ask his fore fathers how they worked tirelessly for mother Zambai and how they earned thier status in our society. Fr Bwalyas stay in the lime light, will be very brief, mark my words.

  55. hahahahahahaha!!!!!!hahahahahah!!!!!hahahahahahah!!!!!!!!=)):))=)):))=)) The MMD are scared to the root. Fr. Bwalya again hahahahahahaha!!!!!!hahahahahah!!!!!hahahahahahah!!!!!!!!=)):))=)):))=)) This MMD is really funny hahahahahahHe is really scaring the hell out of them.
Fr Bwalya as you come out of the penitentiary please listen to useless and a failure called MUTAYACHALO. I understand he is some UNION chap. I didn’t like what he trashed to radio phoenix at 6:45 news. Bwafya=))=))=))=))

  56. Riots were going to break out on Youth Day even if police did not take action to arrest this “father”. Imagine the volatility of a public function like that. In comparison, what happened today would be a child’s picnic. In 1991 Chiluba and his MMD showed us that even mighty KK could be (overwhelmingly) defeated at the polls if there was just cause. This is a historical fact which proves that if the majority of the people do not want MMD, we just have to wait for the 2011 polls. For now the MMD is in power because they received majority votes last elections. Let us not destroy mother Zambia cos of charlatan satanic priests. The rioters are just trouble makers who do not represent the majority voters and should not hold the rest of us at ransom, police lock them up and throw away the…

  57. Katebebe @60, while i dont know Mutati personally, why can’t he speak for himself if he has any ambitions? I think he is a coward if he can’t stand up to speak for himself and therefore unfit to be a leader. Those with the Ba*l*l*s to stand up to the MMD/RB and william banda scheming have spoken and continue to speak out WITHOUT LEAVING the MMD! Just my two-cents’ worth.

  58. For those who are capable of thinking for themselves, it is plain that PF and Sata are no better alternative to RB and MMD. Sata CANNOT and WILL NOT fill your hungry tummies. He is just hot air trying to get himself into power for selfish ends. Even if he wanted to (which he does not) he is simply INCAPABLE of solving anybody’s problem of hunger. Sata is no more than a Zambian Idi Amin in the making. The facts are there for all to see but you choose to bury your heads in sand, which is not surprising since you do not wish to use your heads anyway.

  59. We need people like Father Bwalya, 90% of Zambian are cowards and just complain and do nothing. As for the riots, take time to listen to international news and see what happen in Europe when people a not happy with something (even in South Africa). In Zambia, we let these politicians to have it easy. we need uncorrupt or uncomprised NGO like Change Life Zambia. If Change Life was owned by some failurer guy (like BIGOGA), MMD could have bought him off. For MMD its ok for BIGOGA to support them. Google on Andry Nirina Rajoelina and ACORN

  60. We need people like Father Bwalya, 90% of Zambian are cowards and just complain and do nothing. 61. It should noted that such type of happenings gave birth to plural politics in zambia, here again they may be signifying something radical awaits its time to be made manifest and the powers that be need not to ignore this as the writing is clear on the wall for all to see that the MMD is digging its own grave.

  62. What a rubbish dump of a city, does this place has a functional goverment, or is this the planet of the apes:-?

  63. As a Catholic,Iam deeply disappointed with FR Bwalya’s unbecoming behaviour. He is calling for change and then he doesnt tell us who is supporting for or let alone if he intends to be President. Why is it that only PF cadres happen to be his supporters?

  64. 68, yes let Honourable Mutati come in the open and we shall see his character and judge. For now we cannot judge a book by its cover. We know the fornicators, the adulterers, the thieves, the corrupt, the Satas, the telesphores, and similar characters who do not deserve leadership in Zambia. I do not want to take anything away from Honourable Mutati but we shall only know him when he comes under public scrutiny.

  65. Bane let us not be fooled but remain focussed. These are just diversionary tactics to take attention away from Sata after two weeks of damaging revelations. Sata must still answer those questions: did he or did he not fornicate with two of Bishop Mpundu’s sisters? Did he or did he not commit adultery? Does he or does he not deserve to take Holy Communion? Did he or did he not impregnate a sister to his previous wife?

  66. Felix is not clean cut as well, let the UK Zambians tell you about his dealings that know him well. My encounter with Felix was when he tricked an aunt of mine regarding a tender supply he had of computers. Then £4000.00 British pounds was a lot money, she regarded him like a Son, took a quick loan from the bank to finance the project hoping to atleast get her capital back, not just profit. Alas to date my aunt has never see him. Everytime she comes to zed he tells the secretary to claim his not in the office and whenever his in London he makes false promises to come byand settle the cash. Alas another story. Be careful of him as well.

  67. PF officials, 22 others arrested in Kitwe riots (ZWD)

Police in Kitwe on Monday arrested 22 people, including party officials from the opposition Patriotic Front (PF), following riotous protests by people angered when police arrived at the Kitwe Magistrates Court to control the crowd.

  68. A FAILED TRIBAL COURSE

No one is above the law to freely stir anarchy with impunity or run a subversive crusade against a democratically elected constitutional government. Frank Bwalya and Telephore Mpundu in their gamble are playing with fire in the errand of taping Zambians into turmoil. Zambians are always intolerant of anarchists. Whatever these nihilists are doing, they should realize that the state may not always be there to protect them when loose individual ultranationalists on the opposite side of their insanity counter them.

  69. The danger is that they ultranationalist could assassinate these chaps in cold blood. This has happened from time in memorial from Israel, Zambia, South Africa, Angola, Nigeria, Mozambique, Egypt, Kenya, Russia, present day Uganda and Italy to the USA since the days of Hover against the fifth column. History is riddled with the over reactive extreme nationalism hand.

  70. “Confusion erupted when a Kitwe magistrate released Fr Bwalya on bail and his supporters who had turned up at the court to give him solidarity resorted to stoning vehicles parked near the court premises.”

I don’t understand. Where they angry that Father Frank Bwalya was released? Why start a riot after this genocidal maniac has been released? It does not make sense.

The PF, their sympathizers and cadres are enemies of democracy and development. They oppose and politicize anything the govt does to develop the nation. They support a man who in 2008 said whoever wins the by elections must rule for 5 years. They support a party that has never held a convention since inception and a leader who opposed the constitution to support a third term bid.

  71. And these PF councilors, leaders and cadres should stop to think their fantasy can overwhelm Zambia as a country, her law enforcement institutions, the democratic Governing establishment and peaceful citizenry. Even in a scenario where pockets of their localities reign in anarchy or are subdued with strong hand of law and order, when the vast Zambia is functional, a week of such will leave those people losers. They will lose jobs, tuntemba, man hours, life, properties, and their children school hours leaving themselves sinking deep in worse of poverty when others are pulling out.

  72. The sad thing is that though elections are hotly on course, these thugs not only remain apathetic to the voting process, but are failing to guide Zambians on the alternative to MMD and why. Change of Government in a constitutional democracy is through the ballot and ballot alone. Zambia is already in the election mode and get your act in place. Look at MMD Lusaka district just this week end it raised ZK 1.3 billion in contributions and pledges. That is the preparation of a serious party. Stoning and apathy are no game changers but a loser vents to nowhere.

  73. Here are these thugs in,how do they mobilize or prepare their party for Decisoon 2011? Their families have no food some for missing work, they will come out only to find they have lost jobs, small businesses or even evicted from their rented houses. some of these will lose their pending empowerment project mining houses they are yet to pay for.Who is the loser in this scenario?

  74. cont. from #83

They are advocates for genocide as is evident from a post I am about to reveal by a PF cadre. “I pray that Zambia goes the Rwanda way and your family be the first to be hacked.”Kalos2020, Civil society organizations alarmed and concerned at the arrest of Fr. Bwalya, Lusaka Times, May 13 2010

This also proves that they support chaos as is evident from this unfortunate news story where they start a riot after the genocidal maniac Father Frank Bwalya has been released. If you are voting for the PF, you are doing so at your own risk.

  75. As much as I disapprove of violence, this is good for the MMD to see that they can’t shut up the people. Honestly what is wrong with people expressing their disapproval of the way this government has been behaving. A red card is just a symbol. In the US, the Tea Party does worse things to show their disagreement with Obama, you don’t see the police force throwing these people into jail for that. Father Bwalya has just been elevated to a national hero. Magande would have been killed in the presence of the president without the police taking any action. The MMD cadres are more powerful than the laws of our land. People wakeup, we have an incompetent president in Rupiah. This is a rural ***** who is out to party and has no clue how to bring this country together.

  76. This red card movement is somewhat similar to the one being done by Thai people.I always wonder why in this country we try to surpress the free speech of the citizens.I believe as we claim to be a democratic country, people in leadership should learn to accept critism. Please allow people to have freedom of speech and associationa.

  77. Telephore Mpundu, Mwewa, Simon Kabanda and this looney Frank Bwalya have the right to form political parties and put themeselves up as Presidential candidates.Let them test their national ballot box popularity in a democracy and prove that that their dream of the haiti style of Jean-Bertrand Aristide rule is attainable in Zambia.

  78. The way things are going The Catholic should be ready for whatever happens in Zambia. The hatred by the Church is too much. MMD will not hand over as clearly this is an fair. Like someone said why not form a party instead of hiding in the Church. This is calling for a war situation. MMD should no3w fight like Mugabe no giving up. We shall see

  79. Insanity and tribal wars have no space in zambia. Its interesting though that a legion of tribal rascals calling themesleves priests and ex-priest with a few Zambian based foreign catholic fathers are actively calling for death of Zambian leaders and genocide in the country. They do all this nonsense to nowhere without presenting Zambians with an alternative. They think the Zambian patriotism and functional establishments of sustainable peace, stability and sovereignity can be obliterated by their fanatical conspirancies. We are alive to the task as a united people.

  80. Veteran, do we need to all form political parties to criticisize the government we put in power to eradicate poverty, not to auction our country to tutemba investors, supply us with medicines and equipments in hospitals, to maintain roads instead of potholes, above all to make sacrifices the little we have with us as well, instead of globetrotting. Stop being foolish our people need food, clean water, sanitation, decent wages. Not claiming delevopment not done and economical growth that is failing to reflect in the majority of our people that suffering.

  81. :d/ MMD needs to fight why should the Catholics take such a stand, what about other chueches?? Its wrong but the time These priests will be back to their senses the damadge will have been done its wrong!!

  82. 95″ Am not catholic and you are wrong to accuse the church of hatred for MMD.Which church can be compared to them in Zambia, the tremedous work they do in the community. Most prominent scholars and intellectuals have been through catholic schools, their mission hospitals are not under staffed. stop diverting people from the real problem. How do you support a government when the majority of your flock is suffering not spiritually. And you know the root of the problem. Most tutemba churches are always in support of a bad government. Leave the catholic church alone, attack Fr bwalya as an individual,if he’s wrong anyway. Most countries riot/demonstrate against bad practice and policies of the ruling party, even in the UK,USA, ASIAN etc.Enough is enough whatever it takes/costs MMD has to go.

  83. ALL THOSE OF YOU WHO BELIVE THAT THE RIOT STARTED WHEN WALYA WAS RELEASD ARE FOOLS. THE RIOT STARED BEFORE HE WAS LET OUT, BY 9 IN THE MORNING THERE WAS NIOSE ALREADY THAT’S WHEN THEY LET HIM GO.

    THAT’S IS JUST MMD PROPERGANDER

  84. BEFORE ALaaBeeee LEFT FOR MALAWI HE WAS SHOWN THE RED CARD BY PACT MEMBERS IN LUSAKA AND SOME PACT MEMBERS WERE BEATEN INFRONT OF R.BANDA, WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT VETRAN, CAPTALIST, SENIOR CITIZEN WHAT EVER YOU ARE

  85. This is the only logical way that can make RB and his cohorts understand what is on people’s minds. Though RB still thinks he can have a shot at the presidency, it’s over!! The time for action is now; every right thinking Zambian should now rise to the call and bring this bull-pack of a government to a halt right in it’s tracks. RB surely has a very short memory and it is evidently clear that he does not even learn from his own lessons. RB was in UNIP which was using the same old savage tactics he is now resorting to. What happened to UNIP? People started rioting, and that was the end! Though govt tried all tricks, they failed to contain the situation and UNIP had to go. It is interesting to see history repeating itself with a UNIP guy at the helm!! This is simply rewound UNIP…

  86. Was there a warrant from a magistrate to detain FFB at Kamfinsa? Bushe, who advises HERB on these issues because, as it is, this issue is blowing up in their faces? They should have given the padre a police bond on the day he was arrested. As they sa in Bemba, malibu yakuilombela.

  87. It is a matter of national security that the mines are taxed so that works programs, univeral education and healthcare and easy credit for small companies and farmers can start reducing unemployment and insecurity immediately.

The government must tax the mines $1.2 million a year or more.

Economic diversification has to begin right now.

  88. A red card flash is not only a fanatical act that is antiquated in strategy and inconsiquencial to a constitutional democratic Government. Actually its only achievement is that it exposes the mental distance of the actor.Do you really think it alters the ECZ electoral outcome, the CJ right to declare the democratic winner as a constitutional leader, or result in fall of a functioning state? The lunancy of that looney called Frank Bwalya is in going to interrupt people with his insanity who were freely engaged in a national day.The red card cannot slow the thriving of democracy, alter structural functionalism or political mobility in the country. Just last night’s Lusaka MMD dinner raised ZK 1.3 million when that thug was compromising his celibacy in jail with remandees.

  89. Iwe BK a.k.a Veteran, you left ZNBC in ruin. Recently ZNBC showed a film in which there was kissing, and that kahule running ZNBC had everybody writing letters to explain why they showed such a film. Now that is the lunacy you left at DeadNBC.

  90. This is the result of suppressing people. I wish MMD Bootlicker & his cahoots know that in a democracy there must be freedom of speech, expression and association. RB calls a woman giving births p.o.r.n.o This Fr distributing cards is now secene as a breach of peace. His acquital will bring more embarrassment. The struggle must continue. am opening a campaign on facebook

  91. Zambia,

Your analysis is at sublevel for a public discourse. Be advised that the acts of tribal loonies turned religious counterfeits with a failed cover is in no way parallel to the post cold war proxy hegemony that ensured in that period. The 1991 counter socialist/communist movement was not only national but a matter of east-west proxy war of reaalignment.Communism had failed and capitalism turned hegemonic on communist regimes. This is why attention and all eyes were focused on Zambia in 1991.Jimmy Carter camped here while funding was heavy to pro capitalist voices. The change was not tribal as the case of Telephore Mpundu, Mwewa, Simon Kabanda, Sata and this looney Frank Bwalya is. Its a battle of preponderant powers gripping internal camps for critical mass realignment.

  92. ###70, 71, I am with you. Zambians 90% coward. Although, I do not know this Mr Bwalya that well, this played very well for those that are for change. Banda must go. But. The opposition leaders so far offer nothing at all. Be it the so called Cobra or Hamachende.

  93. This is a tribal crusade of loonies vainly belaboring to turn it in a religious war that would engulf the country. Its not national, intertribal or a preponderantt power hegemonic theatre but a fanatical act of a crique of tribal loonies frustrated with own sense of dejection. But be rest assured that they are heading nowhere. Zambia is bigger than them. They can even go to hell but Zambia behind them will hold strong and a promising better place for the law abiding citizens.

  94. Now, who is having the last laugh? Banda (the Zimbabwean dictator) or Fr. Bwalya (Zambian born priest on sabbatical leave)? People have no time to waste on Banda lunacy. Sane people know that Rupiah and his cohort William Banda are village tyrants. Hey, Veteran Senior Citizen Ben Kangwa, did you read the lunatic William Banda ranting at Mulungushi? I really don’t even know how a sane person, if Rupiah is, would allow such lunatic rantings from a criminal like William Banda.

  95. :o:o@-)@-)this chameleon turned father and his stooges …surely have a strange way of celebrating partial court victories???..:-w:-w:-?:-? i agree with the police , they need a kick on their back sides..and some of this b-(b-(b-(b-( on their faces . what they did is criminal and should not be tolerated in the name of politics .don’t tell me these people are any different from the somalia pirates ??absolutely not , beware and don’t be easily deceived .you will have no where to run when the gates of hell are open ..these people want to rob anyone .so i think they don’t need to walk the streets but u know where they belong .[-x[-x[-x

  96. This is a tribal crusade of loonies vainly belaboring to turn it in a religious war that would engulf the country. Its not not surprising that in their lamentable failure to plant this on Zambians, they have drawing the big catholic churach in the sins of eucharist, adultery, bastards, criminal records and lunancy of Frank Bwalya but to no avail. MMD has more sober devoted catholics. they have further go to fight the protestants, Anglicans and independent evangelicals but in vain.

Their tribal war covered in their religious counterfeit imagined community is not national, intertribal or a preponderant power hegemonic theatre on young zambia. Its a fanatical act of a crique of tribal loonies frustrated with own sense of dejection and sin.

  97. But be rest assured that they are heading nowhere. Zambia is bigger than any looney that they are.Their fragrance for the Rwanda experience has no platform in Zambia. They can even go to hell but Zambia behind them will hold strong and prove a promising better place for the law abiding citizens.

  98. @#83 and 87 I can’t believe you just said that, what makes you think Father Bwalya or the catholic church supports genocide? Please don’t get things twisted.

  99. ha ha ha ha pali ba Vetty (veteran) pali ba ichibuga ati Belaboring lol. Eyo tamakwata ifyakucita mule ekalafye. Styopet!:p

  100. @ # 112 Beyonce wapa Zed

You have totally misunderstood me. I have nowhere said the Catholic church supports genocide. Produce evidence of this. I have however said Father Frank Bwalya is a genocidal maniac as is evident from his movement name “change or die Zambia”. Why die? what if the people have decided through the ballot that they intend to keep the current govt? does the die come in then? how does he plan to implement the die? how will he carry out the die? Can he explain more on the “die” in his movement name. This is why I call him a genocidal maniac.

I have also revealed that some PF cadres and sympathizers are supporters of genocide. I have produced evident on post #87.

  101. #114 Fr Bwalya is just trying to make Zambians aware of what is going on. And by the way Zambia is dying with the current govt. So Fr Bwalya was right.

  102. This is not a tribal issue as the lunatic Veteran wants to put it. This is about Zambians taking over what belongs to them, Zambia. If lunatics like Veteran are allowed to continue, they would sell Zambia for their embassy jobs. These guys don’t care about what happens to Zambia as long as they have cleaning jobs at the Washington office. People in the diaspora, do you want to know why nothing happens at the embassies? They are all busy blogging to protect Banda for the jobs he has given them. Veteran spends 20 hours of his blogging, Capitalist spends 16 hours blogging. That means your papers or letters sent to the embassy are never touched in more than three months. That is the truth that comes from these embassies were cadres are sheltered. No diplomats, but MMD cadres only.

  103. # 103,
If for over 2 years now you have failed to identify who Veteran or any of the patriots like SC, Mr.Capitalist, Engine, MMD Bootlicker, & Patriot to mention but a few or indeed the Honchos of LT are. You blindly blog without knowing who is laughing at your ignorance. How can MMD take you as serious opponents if you are failing on simple task? Knowing your environment is first step in warfare. How you do you exit MMD with ignorance? You have lamentably failed on any of us especially those posting from the USA. In your confusion we are DC based working at the Zambian mission. Little do you know that these are all highly skilled and educated Zambians some in private thriving businesses, while others are in middle level jobs of corporate America.

  104. @ 115 Beyonce wapa Zed

“#114 Fr Bwalya is just trying to make Zambians aware of what is going on. “

And what is going on? You still haven’t explained what he means with the “die” in his movement’s name and how he plans to carry on the “die”.

“And by the way Zambia is dying with the current govt.”

The evidence proves otherwise. Zambia grew by 6.3% GDP last year whilst the rest of the world was in recession. Zambia managed to stabilize the currency, drop inflation to single digits and drop some interest rates (even though they are still high). Zambia has also received many investments in Banking and other sectors as well as signing MOU’s with South Africa, Malaysia and China. Where do you get your evidence that Zambia is dying under the current…

  105. PF have to be careful. Colluding with Bemba speaking genocidal thiefs might just push people in Southern, NW and Western to vote for MMD. Why is it that all the priests who are vehemently anti- MMD are all Bemba? Bwalya says Zambia is a dictatorship and yet we read articles everyday in the Post that criticise the govt and he supports a party that has no internal democracy. Some of you people who think MMD is the worst govt in Africa, need to go to places such as Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Zim to see what a real dictatorship is like. People like Kalos whatever who thinks that Zambia should end up like Rwanda obviously dont know what they are talking about. How can any right thinking person wish GENOCIDE upon his own COUNTRY? So you want to kill anybody from the East?

  106. Shalawambe, it is not thinking about Zambia turning into Rwanda, it is Banda with his tyrannical behavior. Banda is a Zimbabwean, and seeing how is country is today seems to damage our country just like his country. Did you read your brother William Banda’s rantings at the Mulungushi Hall? Probably those are your leaders whose type of leadership is threats and bullying the nation to submission. That we will not accept and for sure we will fight back against such foreign invaders like the two Bandas.

  107. This is no longer a covert crusade of regious counterfeits from one village and tribe who have lost a stand in the big cathollic church over their desecration of the church doctrine, moral codes and dignity. They have turned to pursuing tribal doors of wars against Zambians to no success. Its aunthentic that out of a sobber bigger Catholic fraternity harmonious and soberly engaging in national issues, its scandrels likes of Telephore Mpundu, Mwewa, Simon Kabanda and this looney Frank Bwalya. Tell me is it only their village that has outlaws who can turn rascals?

  108. Kalos if you think that the likes of Sata with his dubious history – third-term, impregnating two sisters in a country where HIV is rife are going to do any better than I fear for your judgement. I can understand peopole wanting to get rid of MMD but replace them with PF does not make sense to me. Also, dont forget that if you are a Zambian citizen then RB is YOUR president aswell as he is the legitimate President of the Republic of Zambia. Your tirade against our fellow Africans from Zimbabwe just shows what a shallow thinker you really are. You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting GENOCIDE in your OWN COUNTRY.

  109. #119, when you say kill people from the East, who are referring to? Because both Bandas are not from the East. One is from Zimbabwe and the other is from Malawi. Is that the East you are referring to? About Bembas, who told you that only Bembas are in opposition to the tyrannical rule by Banda? Probably you are confused about the nature of opposition we see today. HH is not Bemba, Lubinda is not Bemba, Scot is not Bemba, so, check your facts. Probably your hate for the Bembas is eclipsing your vision and the nature of politics on the ground in Zambia.

  110. Shalawambe, stop smoking that stuff. Who is discussing Sata here? I thought the discussion was about the riots in Kitwe due to the tyrannical arrest of Fr. Bwalya. So, how did Sata come in? You see, you have no point to discuss but the hate for Sata whereby all your discussions even when people are discussing soccer, you might mention Sata.

  111. What exactly is tyranical about Banda’s rule? Membe and people like you insult him every day and yet you say Zambia is a dictatorship and yet you support somebody like Sata with a history of violence. Tell me when Sata is going to practice internal democracy in his own party? Tell me again if he was behind Chiluba for the third term? Aua s for hating Bembas, how can I hate them when I am half Bemba? You are a Bemba nationalist and that is the only reason you hate Banda, period. You think only Bembas should rule this country but you know what, you and your tribalist priests aint gonna get what you want. Zambia belongs to all of us. I dont care if somebody is from Malawi or Mali I believe in African brotherhoood unlike you who thinks only about Bembas.

  112. PF cadres knowing your environment is your first challenge in warfare. You have failed to identify who the patriotic MMD activists are.I should advise you to know that LT has rarely a 201…….. IP address posting.People Post from California to Boston. Michigan to Florida, Ohio to Arizona, Atlanta to Oregon yet in your confusion, they are posting from Washington DC. you have failed to do a homework and MMD takes you as blind followers of ignorance. In warfare you are suppose to be ahead in your gathering about your opponents. The day one of the MMD will choose to be stupid on your privacy, you will cry and later blame honchos that they have betrayed you. far from it, it will be because your opponents knows the rules of engagement-know to the finger your opponents in a war environment first.

  113. Veteran, teka umutima we mwaume; it is not the end of the world. You are arguing with a lot of these younsters who are your children’s age, if you have any children at all. You are too old to be yapping around like an empty tin. Make an effort to read the blogs without making comments … that is wisdom, old guy. Do not think you are wiser than everyone else on the blogs … nay.

  114. You have a President who goes to church and what does he do in church? Preach hate. Banda told people in Matero that he hates what Fr. Bwalya is doing. What is Fr. Bwalya doing? Enlightening people and opposing the corruption, thefts, and wastage in the MMD govt. So, when people Zambia is headed for a total collapse due to corruption and thefts, we should hate them because those people who are voicing out are Bembas? If UNIP was sent put due to its failures, what makes MMD so immune that you now have to hate the messengers? The arrest of Bwalya was dictatorial hence the resounding support by the people all over the world for his release. Only you embassy mercenaries are supporting the arrest even when you know people are fed up with the failures of Marco Polo Banda.

  115. Above and beyond, it is indisputable that PF has no smart cadre inn its rank. Its no surprising that they have failed on all frontiers including mountingg of an expected intelligent damage control President Chiluba, Governor Ngoma and indeed the recent Mwanawasa fiascal have inflicted on SATA. We have see his brother-in law Telephore Mpundu vainly putting up his moral and spiritual failures. He went after insulting late Mwanawasa, all other churches and invoking the dark church history of the birth of the Anglican Church under Henry No.2. Here no PF cadre has proved intellectually loaded with skills, critical thinking aptitudes or opinion driver.Instead, its thugs like Kalos2000 praising genocide, insulting brains overwhelming them and dreaming that any of us in the Diplomatic corp.

  116. This Fr Bwalya is just a tribalist street thug musqurading as a preacher, only because RB hails from the eastern parts is he using revolutionary tactics to agitate street thugs.
. Can he talk about the recent published GDP figures, or the recent opening up or closing of mines ?. He only appeals to die hard tribalist kaponyas who think zambia should be ruled by bembas.
Zambia beware of such uneducated street orators.
Now and again a dark force appears who has the ability to stire the masses, but has no idea why apart from tribal hatred. Zambia and in particular pipo of the North, be carefull who you support. if fr Bwalya wants to go onto politics he should campain for MP of his area. the days of revolutionary tactics are over, the balot box is the way. Civil wars R started like this.

  117. Shalawambe
in #125 you state “Tell me when Sata is going to practice internal democracy in his own party?”

Thank you. So you know it is his own party.

But Zambia is not Banda’s country. We decide who leaders us, and at the moment we want anything but him. About your Pan Africans rants, probably you are late, Nkhrumah tried it some 50 plus years ago. You needed to help him then, not on Zambia first. Zambia at the moment is for Zambians. Probably you need to read the constitutions of all African countries. Nowhere it says we can import dictators. About your brothers in Zimbabwe, they have their own problems and it is npt for me to discuss or solve their.

  118. Kalos if you care so much about the future of Zambia then answer my question- how can you support Sata with his dubious record? Or maybe that does not matter because he is Bemba or Bisa? Do you know about the third-term bid? How was that going to entrench democracy in Zambia? IF PF are the ones who are going to save Zambia, then first they must begin at home. Practice democracy in your own party and then lets go from there. The fact that people against Banda are all Bembas shows something about their tribalist inclinations. Are you saying it is only Bembas who know what is good for Zambia? You still have not apologised for wishing GENOCIDE upon your own country for which you should ashamed.

  119. Nishani ba Veteran, muli muchibe bane. Now you have just resorted to attacking the Catholic Church. No, defend your record. You think we don’t your political tactic of attack, attack and attack. Sorry Bbambo, we are more smart than that and we will not let go of your corruption, tyrannical rulers in the names of Rupiah Banda and William Banda (Both foreigners). We shall also open another issue about the young girl Thandiwe who is a GHOST WORKER in the MoE. When will she be arrested like Kapoko and the rest at MoH? Banda is running away from responsibilities at home hence his Marco Polo behavior in midst of calamities and mayhem in Kitwe. What a clueless ruler? You people discussing Sata, where in the story are you getting Sata? Probably I missed that part.

  120. Kalos, even your language is full of hate. ‘Your brothers in Zimbabwe’ just about sums you up. But then you want to see genocide in your own country so what can I expect from such a mind? Actually, as I have said above, I see all Africans as my brothers and sisters but because you are so full of hate you cant see that because to you only people from your narrow background are what matters. It must really irk you to see a non-Bemba president as the leader of our country. You are like the person who was at the Zambian embassy here in London on Friday who thought wanted to speak to a gathering of Zambians only in Bemba but was shouted down because most Zambians want to be inclusive. YOU SUPPORT GENOCIDE AND YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO YOURSELF AND TO ZAMBIA AND TO AFRICA.

  121. Ewe chimudala Chi veteran,

You are being to hard on my young brother.Learn to tread soft on voices in the wilderness merely venting. We know that you have consolidated your MMD for 2011 victory. We operating in uneven territory. can you tell me if its fair for MMD to raise K1.3 million for Lusaka MMD province only in one night for political activities? Can we as PF raise it? How do we build balanced democracy with such imbalance? Let Kalo2000 vent even what doesn’t make sense.

he has to stand by our brother Fr.Bwalya. if anything Kalo2000 has a lot in common with Fr.Bwalya.both were born out wedlock like Frank Bwalya. Both know not or head about who their fathers until today.they understand the pain of poverty and hopelessness.Stop calling them bastards for the blander of mothers.

  122. # 133 Shalawambe
“The fact that people against Banda are all Bembas shows something about their tribalist inclinations”.

Now you are exhibiting truth about yourself. Do you why they don’t allow smoking the stuff you are smoking. Seems like you are bent on insulting other parties in Zambia and more so, HH.

  123. # 135, Shalawambe i think you do not know what you are talking about. We are not talking about tribes, we do not have such in zambia, so, if i may ask, are you sure you are Zambian? What has RB, done so far inthe country?, what did Chiluba do inthe country? And what did Mwanawasa do to build the country apart from talking about corruption? We still have so much old buildings in zambia, still old roads.Twalii temwa sana-Let us wake up- we do not support any of those you mentioned in #135.
    Thanks.

  124. # 136, this is not Chapi, and real Chapi, I will not insult you my brother.
Ba mudala ba Ben Kangwa you state that “he has to stand by our brother Fr.Bwalya. if anything Kalo2000 has a lot in common with Fr.Bwalya.both were born out wedlock like Frank Bwalya”.

Ask yourself how many marriages in Zambia were out wedlock. Even Banda your President did not wed with Thandiwe and the have how many kids?

Nomba imwe bamudala, having married your old old old woman, probably the oldest in Zambia. Where did you have a wedding? We know you like her behind and when she sits down she even gets taller by 2 feet because of her huge behind.

  125. #138 I was responding to Kalos and his rantings. Yes I am Zambian and proudly so that is why I cant understand why anybody would wish GENOCIDE ON OUR COUNTRY. What is the exact point you are trying to make?

  126. Chapi,

I know of the sociapathetical disorder that triggers a sense of uselessness in your friend the young boy Kalos2000.Certainly he has an identity crisis and i would not waste my time to bring up his social challenges that are tied to his lunancy.I know of many wedlock children who have pull themselves of hatred and succeeded in life.I would not capitalize on his misfortune. My point here is a laugh at the lunancy of this legion of religious counterfeits Mpundu, Mwewa,Bwalya and Simon Kabanda vainly belaboring to shove on Zambians a tribal-religious war.

  127. Thank you MMD supporters. I have to get to something important than you and your village tyrant Rupiah Banda. I will have to prepare myself for the evening.

  128. # 135 Kalos2020
Why is RB a foreigner ? because he is not Bemba. ?. FYI Zambia is not for Bembas only. You do sound very full of hate, sit back and reflect that maybe your hate of GRZ is becasue RB is not bemba

  129. #143 ba KC naimwe where have you been? RB was born in Zimbabwe its not about RB not being Bemba. Don’t get it twisted.

  130. Pa ka Red! red! red! red! ….has sent MMD govt is to suspect and lock up anything in its way including its own shadow, as long as it is redish. Sad about the developments on CB. MAy lives be preserved. There was loss of life last time Bwalya was locked up Bwalya.

Next to be locked up is Sata… His 48 year records are being checked in the archives to acertain the whistle blowers allegations Cha cha cha offences.
“Mr Ngoma, 77, the last district governor for Mambwe, said he shared the same prison cells with Mr Sata at Bwana Mkubwa and Mukobeko prisons in the early 1960s. The former freedom fighter said he and other youths were rounded up for the role they played in the Cha Cha Cha uprising during the independence struggle.” Daily Mail 15.03.10

  131. # 144 Beyonce wapa Zed
He was born in Zimbabwe, but is Zambian. My kids born in the UK are Zambian, weather you like it or not, and hopefully will run for office one day even if they are not Bemba

  132. #144(Beyonce wapa Zed)
Have you ever read anything on citizenship like “Citizen by descent”? Read this and you will stop calling RB a foreigner.

  133. Dear Editor,
It is a pity that the manner in which the Catholic Church appears to support a tribal party in Zambia. Centiments and activities being perpetrated by such Clergy as Mpundu, Mwewa and their trouble instigator Bwalya may plunge the this Church into a major rift. These Priests are merely revealing that to be a true Catholic, one must be a Bemba. This is a Church that has enjoyed masses of worshipers from all provinces of Zambia. It puzzling that the apparent dessent is only being articulated by the clique of Bemba priests. We wonder where the interests of the white priests (Miha and Duffy) lie in this peaceful country! Are priests that hail from other tribes considered incalpable of articulating intelligent pronouncements.

  134. In this regard non-Bembas are only considered good boys if they can used as horses to ride on. Should such “horses” come to discover the truth, then Zambia may be engulfed into a Rwanda-style genocide of the innocent people of God. Why is the Vatican failing to supervise its Clergy in Zambia? Puzzling indeed! The recent outbursts against the integrity of the Late President Mwanawasa is even more chilling. What does Mr Mpombo and his clique feel about Sata’s satanic insults on the noble gestures of Patrick Mwanawasa. Interesting development. Many observers may go along with the floating theory (asseertion) that satanic spirits have invaded the Catholic leadership in Zambia. God forbid!

  135. #139 Kalos2020

Once I exposed Veteran,Observer,Patriot,Mwata as a SHUSHUSHU,his response has been impersonations.
These are the last kicks of a dying horse.I had earlier questioned the calibre of RB`s advisers. The number of misteps are just too many to ignore. The Kabwela trepidation, embracing FTJ and supporting his frivolous aquittal and now the Fr Bwalya debacle.RB thought that by imprisoning Fr Bwalya,he would instill fear and silence any diverse views but all is proving to be far from reality. Now the red card campaign is in full swing with free media coverage and attracking national attention.MMD is in free fall and on auto pilot.I still can`t understand the rationale that was used in appointing RB as VP.That monumental blunder is dearly costing our nation big time.

  136. # 149 Observer
Afew days ago The Bishop Fr. Banda said we wont be silenced by MMD Fr Miyja drowenski also said that so stop cheap politics at only Bemba priests are against your Beloved Stuborn AlaaaBee the Zimbabwian Fellow. He was Born in Zimbabwe his has Zimbabwian Parents, so which Zambian by desent are you talking about ????? William Banda was deported by your beloved Chiluba what can you say about that ??? that he is Zambian as well mwilatubepa imwe bakolwe

  137. Shalawambe, sorry it should have read #138 and not you #140. thanks for collecting me.God bless. next time i will check my typing

  138. Zambia ‘red card’ priest Frank Bwalya defiant

A Zambian priest who is leading a campaign to force the government to resign has been freed on bail after spending three nights in jail.
Father Frank Bwalya denies charges of breaching the peace after distributing red cards – the symbol of his campaign.
After being freed, he told the BBC he had “never felt so confident” about his message and said the government was corrupt and dictatorial. (BBC ONLINE NEWS)

  139. Some of you are tribal bigots. You are just not happy with RB being an easterner. Why dont we have these fanatic preachers dishing out red cards in other parts of the country. even your UNDP partners are bewidered at your tribal overtones and are now wondering what they got into. i am begining to see why RB called FJT into the same plane. To try to unite the country. Just because he is not bemba, it seems no amount of good work will be good enough. Even if he had not embraced FJT, tribal bigots would have found other words, apart from corruption to try to end a non bemba led GRZ. Shame on you. Your hate of GRZ is not based on the economic performance of the country. Then what is driving it ?. Look in the mirror and you will see Fr Bwalya standing in front of you, leading the hate mob.

  140. MMD is shaking and S.hitting in there pants. A quick in Zambia shows that UNDP-PF would win by a landslide if elections were held today.

Chi Veteran and Capitalist, who actually are one person are headed for the Jema come 2011

  141. #156
Unfortunately the “twakana” does not reflect everybody and the constititution is very clear on who should be the President:Zambian by birth or descent.

  142. A happy, well fed and governed people with confidence in its leadership can and would never resort to riotous behavior. The opposite is indeed the truth of a people left in a state of limbo, when their voices are silenced noise becomes the answer. Fr. Bwalya’s arrest may not have heralded the riot but certainly its’ a tip of an iceberg.
Prevention has and will always be better than cure. Our government should be seen engaging in preventive measures such as providing freedom of speech and association, the right to belong, deliver promises on time, engage people in decisions that affect the nation etc. In any country where this commodity “Prevention” lacks, riots and unrest rule. I dedicate the MMD leadership a song by Nathan Nyirenda ”Mwe Makufi”, “ Common Man” by the…

  143. Fr. Bwalya has taken over PF in the Copperbelt. Sata does not have power there. Bwalya’s next move is to capitalize on the PF leaders failure and take over the entire party. Right now Sata is not very popular like Bwalya is in the CB. As for the toothless pact, UPND’s HH has swung into action looking like the only sane person whilst FTJ & Sata squeeze each others throats. Never-the-less, this does not change the fact that UPND is for Tonga’s only whilst PF is for Bemba’s only and MMD is for all tribes!

  144. There you gon gain. MMD Cadres are to say anything, even threaten rape and go unnoticed by authority. Poor man with nothing written on a pieace of paper, the whole parapara battalion is summoned to get him. Isn’t beating a journalist endagngering peace? Whe did this poor soul endangerv anyone’s peace? Wait .. many will die like Kamalondo from Unip days. Umulilo (UNIP) walishima,. Similarly, MMD is just smoke and will pass by wind.

  145. Oh yes! It is very clear that the pact is a pact of Bemba’s and Tonga’s. It is not a pact of ALL the tribes in Zambia. The only party so far that represents all tribes in MMD. Its about time the pact decided to hold a joint convention and diluted the strong Bemba dominance in PF and the strong Tonga dominance in UPND. This way they can include the other 70 tribes who are not part of this pact.

  146. As for Fr. Bwalya, he is destabilising PF. The weakness of us Bemba’s is that we capitalise on each other instead of providing support. Instead of Bwalya supporting PF’s efforts, he has opted to go it alone thus hijacking PF’s cadres and grassroots. All he is doing is making Sata weaker and as such, making Bemba dominion less likely.

  147. I remember during my 5 year stay in Zambia. It is correct that like the Tonga, the Bemba want to dominate government in Zambia. This dominance of one tribe is the cause of many civil wars in Africa. When i was in Rwanda, they were recovering from civil war because of one tribe dominating others. When i visited Uganda, it was clear that tribal dominance issue was a major concern. In Sudan, tribalism is causing a crack in the country. Nigeria is fighting similar battles.

Zambia needs an opposition of all tribes and not just one or two. This is the only way to avert civil war and mass human & economic destruction.

Therefore, the PF/UPND pact is 70+ tribes short of what is required to keep Zambia peaceful and stable.

  148. This is how independence was faught. These small riots, do not underestmate them.you will see how such will spread.the main issue y people are protesting is to fight for economical independence.wait and see.remember in the late 80s riots were happening in the Copperbelt and KK was outseted. Rupiah should release this man becoz there is no evidence beyond any doubt the Fr Bwalya incited violence.MMD is making this RED card popular.if you are wise stop and concentrate on development.

  149. So its only the Bembas who were rioting in Kitwe. Just wake up, don’t hide in your hatred against the Bemba speaking tribes.

  150. Who ever has started this tribalism talk on this blog is the worst tribalist ever. Elyo watumpa ichine chine! Naonse ulandilepo pali ifi fine ifya triablism nao atumpa ichine chine. Why can’t we just discuss matters of importance and stick to the topic. Elyo kuti namukansula ulwa leka leka. Shame on you all!

  151. Bjorn, you should at least learn about the history of zambia, yes we have 72 tribes, but at least 5 major groupings. Bemba & Tonga, being two. World wars have been fought, both emanated from Europe. we are not blind to the facts behind them nor the civil wars you mention. EDUCATION & EMANCIPATION are the two vital HUMAN RIGHTS that are always lacking when it comes to war!! Yes in Zambia EDUCATION has deteriorated to such DANGEROUS levels, it’s frightening!! Hence you find bloggers believing one tribe is tryin to usurp power – The uneducated will certainly believe, without realising, that they too can aspire to what the tonga & Bemba chaps are aspiring to rather than resorting to primitive uncivilised behaviour!! Ill-conceived ideas such as the Degree clause will ultimately lead bloodshed!

  152. Another thing, Bjorn, you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink – that is to say, Zambia got its independence, giving its citizens the right & freedom to participate in politics! If other peoples can’t be bothered to be involved, you can’t blame the ones that are doing something about it, can you???

  153. The limitation of riots, moral questions aside, is that they cannot win and their participants know it. Hence, rioting is not revolutionary but reactionary because it invites defeat. It involves an emotional catharsis, but it must be followed by a sense of futility, rioting is an expression of limited thoughts, only dogs think like that.We must use time creatively,Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

  154. lol #167 ABBA style if you are for real you must have spent 5 years at Rhapsody’s talking to pros and with your head in your a. s . s.

OK 2 questions to prove yourself as something other than an MMD leech or a relative:

    1. How many tribes do we have in Zambia and
    2. What tribe is Michael Sata?

  155. can somebody make me understand the whole story it is hard to follow wat about this father and the rioting it is not clear ?

  156. The whole episode needs to be digested carefully!! It could end up more embarassing on both sides.

Level headedness is required by all concerned.

  157. It’s on a level with the recent belated admission by the Pope’s brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, that while he knew nothing about sexual assault at the choir school he ran between 1964 and 1994, now that he remembers it, he is sorry for his practice of slapping the boys around.

Much more serious is the role of Joseph Ratzinger, before the church decided to make him supreme leader, in obstructing justice on a global scale.

After his promotion to cardinal, he was put in charge of the so-called “Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith” (formerly known as the Inquisition).

In 2001, Pope John Paul II placed this department in charge of the investigation of child rape and torture by Catholic priests. In May of that year, Ratzinger issued a confidential letter to every…

  158. :d/time to point fingers at each other is long gone.lets work towards the betterment of our nation. if you are a preacher man, let every one come close to God. if you are a politician seek the face of God for wisdom and if you are a back bencher like me, lets vote out the greedy and give chance to the people we feel can help.

  159. Wow! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on a totally different subject but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Superb choice of colors!
