117 000 voters countrywide registered so far-ECZ

Share

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has registered 117 000 voters countrywide as of July 4, 2010.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna says the commission is impressed with the number of voters registered so far.

Mr. Akufuna said although the exercise was faced with challenges in its initial stages the commission is positive that the 2.5 million target will be met.

He told ZNBC that issues of officers allowances and poor publicity have been addressed and the exercise is going on smoothly.

The ECZ is conducting a 90 day continuous voter registration exercise.

  1. 1. A 90 day closed period cannot be said to be “a CONTINUOUS Registration” coz it is only for 90 days!
    2. From a projection of 2,500,000, the ECZ has only registered 117,000 from June 21 (i.e. 33% of the 90 days), yet the 117,000 is only about 5% of the target 2.5m. What makes them sincerely hopeful that they will hit the 2.5m target? If 33% of the time fetches you only 5% of the target, is that a confortable indicator of good progress? It just does not add up!!! Or am I missing something here?

  2. Fack the elections!!! A full went to MUVI TV and said Zed students in Russia were given baggage allowances and they used it to marry, why the stupedety from GOvernment? They want to concentrate on rigging election. GIVE US THE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES YOU MORONS

  3. How can the voter registration go on efficiently and effectively when you guys procured faulty or gon’ga kits which are failing to do the work. That is wastage of resources, when will people in Zambia learn to woke up.

  4. How many poor Zambians died since the past registrations?

At this rate this new sign up will not cover the losses.

    Less voters than 2008.
Apathy will kill democracy in Zambia.

  5. “Chris Akufuna says the commission is impressed with the number of voters registered so far”
There is no way a professional can be impressed with such a poor turn out considering the number of days remaining.Chris some analytical skills will help you make a good projection.

  6. Ladies and Gents, can someone tell me why I cant register with a passport for a lost voters card. I went to a Solwezi polling station where i mentioned to one of the assigned cop that i had lost the NRC and old voters card. She (cop) denied me the chance to get a new voters card coz the only doc i had at the moment was a passport! Can somebody explain this to these semi literates that a passport is as good as an NRC if not better!
