MMD will scoop the 2011 presidential elections, UPND Youth Chairman predicts

Share

FLASHBACK: A female youth member of the UPND tries to give flowers to Hichilema at Lusaka international airport

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) youth national chairman Joe Kalusa has predicted that the MMD will scoop the 2011 presidential elections because the pact has lost credibility and direction.

He said at a press briefing at Providence Guest House in Kitwe yesterday that unlike the ruling party which had a viable programme before it ousted the UNIP government, the pact has nothing in place except to issue disparaging remarks against each other.

Mr Kalusa noted that leaders of the pact were failing to explain to the vulnerable citizens how they are going to put money in the pockets if they came to power, likening them to a chicken without a head.

He said that the Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata’s popularity is diminishing because of his alleged vulgar language.

And UPND youths have given the PF/UPND pact a one-month ultimatum within which to tell the nation how they intend to make a difference if they form the next government in 2011.

Mr Kalusa advised the pact leaders not to focus their attention on removing President Banda without any programme on how to develop the country.

He regretted that while the ruling party is busy campaigning throughout the country through various developmental programmes, pact leaders are busy quarrelling among themselves

He said pact leaders are too selfish to convince the majority that they will do better when, in the unlikely event that the MMD government was voted out of office.

Mr Kalusa said the pact youths are demanding an immediate release of the pact manifesto and programme for national development.

He said the youths also want the leaders to come up with committees that will look at the modalities of picking the presidential, parliamentary and local government candidates apart from resolving how government portfolios will be shared by the two partners.

They claimed that at the moment leaders at lower organs of the pact have no regulations to guide them.

[pullquote]Mr Kalusa regretted that while the UPND leader punished major Robby Chizyuka for issuing alleged inflammatory statements against the party, Mr Sata keeps quiet when his subordinates like Mwenya Musenge, Guy Scott and Wynter Kabimba provoke the UPND.[/pullquote]

Mr Kalusa stressed that the working relationship between Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema whom he claimed to be a better candidate because of his vibrant age and economic experience, is not conducive to sustain their “marriage of convenience”.

He said the two leaders should tour the country and jointly address the nation on their plans for the country if they are genuine partners instead of going different ways.

Mr Kalusa regretted that while the UPND leader punished major Robby Chizyuka for issuing alleged inflammatory statements against the party, Mr Sata keeps quiet when his subordinates like Mwenya Musenge, Guy Scott and Wynter Kabimba provoke the UPND.

Mr Kalusa alleged that because the PF leaders do not respect the UPND, they have already picked a candidate to contest the Mpulungu by-election, against the memorandum of understanding signed by the two partners when the pact was formed.

  1. but do you think UPND can contest and win in mpika?if you think you can do it your way why not pull out and go ahead with your leader?

  2. Seems ba LT derives a lot of pleasure from running stories that are agianst the pact. It clearly shows how bias you really are.

  3. Thanks for taking note ..now do the honourable thing and join the wining team and be in the wining circle and get that winning feeling again. It has been a while. Three loses in a succession. Anyway if you are out to beat the world record and find yourselves as a party in the Guinness book of world records, then we understand. How can we blame you. All the best

#1 & 2 Head in the Sand ..not wanting to hear any truth of reality on the ground. Mr Kalusa is a UPND youth Chairman and he called a press conference..and you want the press to bury their head in the sand like you? You are getting whipped my friend, come 2011, tell your emotions to get used to being hurt. You have a mother of all pain coming. First it is PACT break up and then Heavy defeat in 2011 by over 50%. All the best

  4. Kalusa sounds like he’s been bought. Anyway what else did UPND expect from this pact? Look at how many people Sata quarelled with when he was SG of MMD and a vuvuzela for Kafupu’s evil 3rd term bid. Strange that he’s a hero today and people have deliberately forgotten about his MMD SG activities! PF symperthisers dont get me wrong on this one, am not NOT MMD, just analysing our political scenario.

  5. @moderator the LT just tells the truth.i know its hard for you to accept but the pact is a useless thing.for members to start conceding defeat like that tells you something.MMD has no competition.

  6. LT you have distorted the story. I listned to Radio Ichengelo all Kalusa said was to encourage their leaders to come out with the MANIFESTO other wise they are giving chance to MMD not the MMD WILL SCOOP THE ELECTION. Your aim is to alarm we anti MMD so that we lose hope in the opposition. Mind you the PACT is not the only alternative.

  7. As for Mpulungu, no need of UPND complaining about PF choosing a candidate when we all know that UPND is not a factor in Mpulungu. I can forsee MMD losing this one to the opposition like it was in Solwezi and Mufumbwe.

  8. On “Mr Kalusa alleged that because the PF leaders do not respect the UPND, they [,PF , I believe,] have already picked a candidate to contest the Mpulungu by-election, against the memorandum of understanding signed by the two partners when the pact was formed” this is serious misconducted by opportunistic PF because the NGC has to meet to discuss which party between PF and the mighty UPND will have to field a candidate for the Mpulungu by-election.

I thus urge the UPND to also begin its selection process for the candidate it will be fielding in the Mpulungu by-election. Such will send a clear message to PF that the UPND is not a walk-over in the PF-UPND PACT.

I hope PF will reduce its speed so that the PF-UPND PACT things are handled in a sober manner.

    Be blest all…

  9. Sure this Your Kid spokesperson has a narrow mind, Did RB had any valiable program to develop the nation at the time he became president, Infact Banda is the one who is lost here as he was taken from the archives by LPM to be his VP, and he happened to be at the right place and time when LPM passed and he was rigged to be where he is by the same people he is very close to< Do not compare Sata with RB , Coz Sata has a history of being able to deliver, I think HH does not descipline these chaps who are being paid, to say s matuvi against the part they claim to belong to

  10. Kalusa has said nothing but the truth.I have always said the Pact was a fallacy and its supporters are in deep s.h.i.t and will be treated to a rude shock of defeat.

  11. In a related development, the PF Sata MC vuvuzela, The POST Newspaper, has reported “UPND last week wrote to the Speaker of Parliament to declare the Namwala seat vacant following a court ruling that threw out Maj. Chizhyuka’s application to prevent the party from expelling him” under a story title “UPND vows to defeat Chizyuka if he re-contests Namwala by-election” which is good news for me and ““Whether Chizhyuka contests on the MMD, ULP, UNIP or as an independent we are not concerned, we will defeat him,” said [UPND Spokesperson Hon MP C.] Kakoma” is refreshing, sending a clear message to competitors of UPND that UPND is working hard to teach dissidents a good lesson in the Zambian political scene.

    Be blest all.

  12. Monk Joe Kalusa, you still are around? test your popularity either in Chingola or Kitwe. I bet even the respect you had when you were a school boy at Chikola and a student at CBU has ebbed away. you see, your head is aging but your voice of complaints still lingers on. uchinje mwaiche iwe. UBUTUTU ULEKE

  13. Joe has said a lot of sensible things here and if you take time to read through this, you will realize that the Pact is dead.
Let me ask,who has allowed him to issue this statement ??
Why don’t the two leaders do things pamo ??
Why hasn’t PF distances itself from mwenya musenge and guy scort ??

  14. #6 Deja Vu
Did you hear the Press briefing live from Ichengele or some edited version during the main news?

  15. Also, a related story in the Times of Zambia indicates “Mr [UPND CB provincial vice-youth Kelly] Jibinga[ ]said UPND was a formidable party capable of gaining more growth and cautioned PF against relying on its past performance in 2006 elections where it scooped most of the parliamentary seats on the Copperbelt” under a story-title “UPND youths blast ‘headless’ pact” which is sent a nice message to PF that the mighty UPND will offer serious challenges to PF, if PF decides to go it alone against the UPND-Zambians’ PACT that will remain as a remnant of the PF-UPND PACT.

I thus like the vocal attitude that the UPND Team’s youths and UPND Group Copperbelt provincial leadership has taken to finish off PF in the PF-UPND PACT because of insincerity.

    Be blest all…

  16. Bwana Kalusa you have lost it! Its very difficult to tell if you are in partnership with the MMD or PF.Stop prostituting yourselves. Come out clear its like you only want to identify yourselves with the winning party. Do your homework right and the rest will just follow.

  17. I also salute The UPND president HH for allowing the UPND Group to enter into full overdrive mode for 2011 elections.

This is clearly evidenced in the above article points which are coming from UPND junior officials that are challenging PF to forget about just removing the MMD Administration from power and then installing Mr two-university-degrees holding-claimant PF/Sata MC at State House without a plan to uplift the standards of living of Zambians.

Therefore, I “He said the two leaders should tour the country and jointly address the nation on their plans for the country if they are genuine partners instead of going different ways” which is calculated by the UPND to expose the ignorance of Mr PF/Sata MC to Zambians while facelifting HH’s capabilities.

    Be blest all…

  18. It Must be noted that if UPND/PF are the government in the waiting (or alternative) , then they need to convince us, me included that they have the manifesto, cabinet list as well as the technocrats. Kalusa is right. From whatever side you look at it the bottom line is we need these issues to be resolved. Further, yes i have heard HH talk about the pact A MUST and need to move forward, but SATA talks less as if he doesnt need UPND.The challenge here is for the two to be on the same press conference now and then and assure us the electrate otherwise it will be whichfull thinking that we can vote for a broken PACT. This is a good point Kalusa. Keep it up mwana. Even a statement from the two to state that the Technocrates are harmonising the manifesto would be good enough. Work up UPND/PFPact

  19. The Info distorted, I phoned Joe Kalusa, the story peddled above is not correct version. Anyway the PACT needs to be together, the top leadership needs to be seen together and campaigning Pamo once in a while. It has sent a lot of chill amongst US the supporters & Time is not with US. RB can just call for snap elections, this can catch the PACT off guard. VJ & his dribblers are busy scheming an oportune time to call for elections. To Zambians MMD is NOT the altenative but the PACT needs to embrase everyone Miyanda, UNIP, Ngondo etc to finally teach MMD a lesson once and for all.

  20. As much as I disagree with Kalusa’s way of airing his frustrations I agree with his message. UPND senior command need to communication with the foot soldiers on the ground for them to carry out their duties otherwise the enemy will take advantage and disorganise them. UPND leadership can not continue burying their head in the sand or continue operating in secrecy for too long while PF is busy using their vuvuzela, the Post newspaper, to build up their president’s and Party’s image. Come on HH and team, you are smarter than that. Raise up to the occassion. Do not just rely on local radio stations to air your message, you need the means to address a national audience at once. You need a national newspaper, now, for image building. You are losing the propaganda war. Propaganda is part of…

  21. #10 sharp shooter, i think you are sponsored by the MMD or their bootlickers where you are. that is why you are unconfortable with regime change.

  22. Chaps who know nothing about the motive behind Kalusa and group’s statement should shut up. Mind you, that briefing was supposed to be joint, PF did not show up. They are concerned and what they did was like what The Post did to sort of jump-start the pact. This is exactly what these reasoning UPND youths have done. The challenge is that the pact leadership should tell the nation its direction to void, Mark this word, WASTING ZAMBIAN’s time. These were Kalusa’s words. I believe in that position

  23. #25 Peter
I am glad its your thought. However,I am not sponsored by MMD and YES I am uncomforted with regime change from PF cos it wont amount to change but a movement backwards in long stride cos I know Sata inside out.I dont have a short memory.Iam for like Chipimo Jr,Milupi and I fell out of favour with HH cos of his arrogance and lack of humility.Between PF and MMD.I will put my right to vote on the devil I know(MMD).

  24. #2moderator and #6 dejavu this story is in times and daily and its not a hearsay but quoting IPND youth boss joe kalusa # 17 dr chikanda thanks for advising these critics. UPND and PF ignore what kalusa is telling you to your own disadvantage. He says MMD is busy scoring points all around the country while you continue to try and out do each other. At least sata has his vuvuzela the post while HH is a lone voice in the wilderness only heard by those who tune in to radio phoenix and tongas sky news LOL

  25. #27 Sharp Shooter: Who between HH and RB is arrogant and lacks humility? There is no doubt that it is RB unless you are deliberately blanking up RB’s weaknesses. In that regard you are behaving the same way as Sata’s supporters for they are deliberately turning a blind eye to Sata’s misdeeds. Chipimo and Milupi have not been under intense political scrutiny for them to be potrayed as angles.

  26. The problem that you guyz in the UPND have is that you are civilised and PF your partner are a very primitive party.( Its popular in markets and shanty townships-Kaponya arrangement). Everyone in UPND knows that MMD is more civilised than PF. What buffles me and every civilised person is why are you still sleeping with PF? Just look at the cream of PF: Kambwili, Mumbi Phiri, Willie Nsanda, GBM, Mark Mushili, Munsenge, Winter Kabimba, a lawyer who has never won a case on his own,Given Lubinda, Jean Kapata, Guy Scot, Mwenya Munsenge, Micheal Sata to cap it all. Surely, what kind of govt can these chaps give us? UPND on the other hand is full of technocrats. Why are you wasting your talents and investment with PF kansi? God help us.

  27. Kalusa be very careful,in UPND no one is indispersible, they fire at will. Be very careful list you find yourself expelled like Chizyuka and the other councillor from the Copperbelt who spoke against the pact. The problem with all supporters of the pact any negative thing raised to question the pact it means you are bought, especially if you are from UPND, yet PF’s Musenge, Guy Scott and others can deminish UPND in public and nothing will be done to them. Kakoma, HH,Hehehe here on the blog, and you lot you are F OO L S to think you are still in pact with PF. PF is very clear, it does not need you, you UPND loosers are the only ones begging for a pact.Sata is a seasoned politician, he knows how weak HH is getting in Southern province becoz of the alliance, do not for a minute under…

  28. Believe in the clean devil than the blood stained Devil and Vampire PF farm by owned by Satana Sata. Go super RB. Go supper MMD. We are seing propert development initiated by your party NOT those PF tribal and crooks. To hell with tribal parties.

  29. 31 Destroyer greetings. On your “Kakoma, HH,Hehehe here on the blog, and you lot you are F OO L S to think you are still in pact with PF.[..] PF is very clear, it does not need you, you UPND loosers are the only ones begging for a pact,” I am aware that PF has decided to go it alone if UPND continues to offer resistance to Mr PF/Sata MC’s 2011 PACT presidential candidacy but the truth is that the mighty UPND Group is way ahead of PF in terms of strategy.

The article/story above is telling you and others that UPND is ready to go it alone and UPND has been ready to go it alone a long time ago.

The UPND junior officials are clearly deliberately belittling PF n Mr PF/Sata MC while HH is happily working on increasing his popularity by being the sober leader of PACT…

  30. UPND is for Tongas only. No person whose not Tonga can rule the Tongas. Kalusa is not a Tonga so foget about leadership in Tongally arranged thing. It will be difficult for the pact to work because of this Tonagalization. I suggest both parties go on their on and campain. Please just avoid talking ill of each other. The likelihood of PF winning is there thou.

  31. #31 Destroyer: Just a remainder, in UPND we have very intelligent minds, more intelligent than you think you are. We are aware of what PF is doing andwe are aware of what MMD is doing. Both parties(PF & MMD) what to use UPND as a horse to ride on. You must be f.o.o.lsih for you to think we willallow you to do so. Take it from me we won’t allow you to do so. MMD should even be more worried aboutus because we will hit you were it hurts most. We will regain the voters that joined you because of LPM and make no mistake, that will happen becoz you have committed the unpardonable sin of going to bed with Chiluba. As for PF and Sata be warned that voters in the cities can change their mind at any time. You can not claim to own them. .

  32. If truely joe has seen development under MMD, I guarantee you he desperately needs some mental examination. If he has been bought by MMD, he stills needs to be explained to what development is . Zambia is stagnant under MMD & we need leaders who recognise zambia’s potential to develop. These scanty projects(small bridges & few km roads) which RB rushes to open arent development. MMD publicise patching of one road leaving all township roads messed & bloggers writing here drive through potholes before reaching homes & relatives homes. Repairing a road isnt development, but creating new one is. When u buy a shoe for 1 of you 7 children leaving others bare ins’t development, but struggle. If u buy bikes for your kids (who never had) u develop. repairing existing roads ins’t devlopmnt pliz

  33. Repairing a road is not development but in the eyes of villagers, that is serious development. In villages (dont worry they wont have access to our conversation) just having a 127 Fiat car is dev enough. you will as popular as to win an election at any level. To you and me TC that is nothing and a governments pbligation. But for joe that is capital especially that he wants to take Chizyuka’s route.

  34. Kalusa you can issue your statements through proper channels. Even you Kalusa your language at CBU as I can remember was bad. You are a disapointment!! Join MMD if u want. You are a profet of DOOM!!!!

  35. Reality is catching up. MMD should just continue observing these self mutilating lot, they should not even waste time commenting. Next it will HH nimself acknowledging and putting the final nail in the so called pact.

  36. # 6 i agree with you. sad that most bloggers are busy musing and giving views on a swayed story. LT is hoaxous. Am trying to upload a recorded version of what Kalusa said for people to judge. Otherwise bufi bwa LT.

  37. UPND shud leave the pact..coz PF hooligans will not allow HH to be their president ..we need a sober and mature leader..

  38. Typical thinking of a CBU diploma graduate, cannot see things further than the end of their noses. Bwana Kalusa you can go and tell that story to your cousins who looks at you as the most educated in the family monkey ass. Just come out in the open and say that you are switching over to MMD pungwa iwe.

  39. Any reasonable person would not waste their time on unproductive matters. I am sure this youth chairman just wants to be noticed that he can talk. Which youths gave him the mandate to pronounce the pact is falling apart? He must not speak on behalf of the reasonable youths. Please ba Kalusa just leave the pact if you are not interested in forming the next govt. You are a failure because a normal person does not wash linen in public. LET THEM TALK IFWE NI PACT CHAPWA.

  40. #37tc progressor you got to tell me what kind of development you need, can you tell me sata of hh will do beta than the overwhelming development we seeing under MMD. Im on the ground and you appear to be out of touch. in each and every ditrict their are new schools with teachers houses, new health centres with staff houses. high schools are being built all over the country and recruitment of teachers and health personnel is in earnest. roads through out the country are being fixed or earmarked for repair not mending of potholes as HH and sata cheat you. fertilizer and farm implements ddistribution is real hance the bumber harvest. new and modern ndola stadium is nearing completion to gether with lusaka hospital. go to arcades mandahill crossroads woodlands and see amount of economic growth

  41. Wow, sentiments sentiments. The truth be told. Nothing much has happened to make a rational being believe that PF or UPND going it alone will see then garner more votes than MMD. Past election results clearly show this and while the difference may be narrowing, the change is not sufficient under the first past the post arrangement. Look at the issues being raised.

  42. You check the quality of those structures.Look at Chipata railway station and the rest around the country, you will believe that they are just a conduit used to syphon money from the treasury.Dont be sleepy you chap in #34.Check the structures in neibouring zimbabwe, namibia and botswana where government has financed the the construction of schools and hospitals

  43. “And UPND youths have given the PF/UPND pact a one-month ultimatum within which to tell the nation how they intend to make a difference if they form the next government in 2011.

Mr Kalusa advised the pact leaders not to focus their attention on removing President Banda without any programme on how to develop the country.”

These are the most important issues pact supporters and bloggers should ask. What will the pact do if they form govt. It seems so far they have not told the nation anything. It basically shows that they have no plan for Zambia.

  44. I dont think that it is unreasonable for the pact to come up with a manifesto as to how they will develop the country and travel jointly around the country selling their vision? I also dont think it is too much for the pact to have a shadow cabinet at this moment which would save a lot of time and bickering should they get into power next year. I would be more inclined to believe in the pact’s readiness for government if the above was in place – it would also mean that we move away from the politics of insults which are damaging to national unity and development. It is not enough to want to get rid of MMD, what we need is a vision of how to make Zambia more prosperous and stable.

  45. #51 kalinosky. I totally disagree with u dear. No! no! No! No! the miniature & isolated type of ‘development’ which u really laboured & wasted so much energy to bring to memory doesnt amount to any dvelopment zambia deserves. Most of what u highlighted translates into failed ‘village upgarading’ projects leaving the urbanised Zambia stalled, coz gvt has run of ideas to develop the urbinised zambia. Even RB’s ‘inherited’ ndola stadium is in principle a replacement of dag stadium, making u agree with me that replacing roads isnt development, but making new ones. We also have to consider zambia’s potential. If u are able to lift 90kg, why celebrate when u lift a 10kg bag. I have seen those isolated pockets of poor quality village projects. question is so what? celebrate failure- no…

  46. kalusa made this statement at a press conferenence so those claiming its a fake story need their heads examined. remember Post does not cover UPND so the only media available to these fools in UPND is the same daily mail and times which they always insult. UPND should just get out becoz its obvious sata does not want them in the pact and does not need them unless they accept him as presidential candidate. for sata this is his last chance

  47. The PACT, any body read SATA’s letter to RB on the isuue of Donors?, yes it is not different issue. My point is this, is this the kind of Leader we are naturing to occupy job No.1. in Zambia?. It is not suprising that some fashionable words are “Bootliker,” Bought” or paid to say something” especially when one has no alternative points to raise over issues. One of the(PACT) leaders writes such a letter (Published by M’Meembe’s controlled News paper). If we have such leaders expending energy writing like that I do not expect them to have an agenda for the Development of Zambia except throwing such tantrums. Mr kalusa has spoken and raised cardinal points which PACT should listen too if they really want to go to plot No1. Otherwise they will remain an opposition for a long time to…

  48. The fact is that we need to change the regime, either the Army should take over or an Opposition Political Party should be in power next year,We are tired of the crap we read and see about the current government. They sing about developmental projects which are non-existent,curruption is at its peak,eg,talk of Cris Chalwe wanting to rape Nawakwi, arresting of UPND MP and leaving out William Banda for violence, the freeing of the King Criminal,Mr.Chiluba, its a circus.RB will soon be rated to be the MOST Corrupt Leader Africa has ever seen if he continues this same path of distruction.RB is too old to lead this Country,he is now thinking like a child,he only finds time to do some adventure like travelling around like an aimless goat.

  49. Nothing new here — a single united opposition is the only thing that can topple the rulling gov. Congrats MMD for staying integrated. Shame on you opposition for being so power hungry.

  50. It seems pf undermines the mighty upnd so much, if they think they can do it on their own let the go ahead. In life you need to belong to an association or party where you are counted no matter how tiny you may be. Therefore, I would advise HH to join hands with Charles Milupi and am sure they cam make a good combination even to win election in 2011. The combination of HH and Milupi will mean they can comand Southern, Western, North-western and even Central clearly, parts of Lusaka, Copperbelt are cosmopolitan all parties will share. Milupi and HH should realise that their provinces have been sidelined a lot by these other parties and governments hence should just think of doing it on their own now. Viva guys HH and Milupi we depende on you guys, am ready to leave Ethiopia to help you

  51. The people frustrating HH in the pact with pf are Sata’s juniors Scot, Wynter, Musenge, Mumbi Phiri and other, they do not want to lose their positions to UPND. The split of the pact will reduce the chances of MMD and PF. At the moment HH has a good following in Southern, central, North-western and the coming of Milupi will bring Western on board. HH and Milupi please do not allow people to use and latter on dump you like a mopping cloth, wake up. you have tried your level best to join hands with other but they do not appreciate you in any way. They will call you names but never mind them just sell yourselves, your chances of winning are so high.

  52. Gentlemen we are better off with Nyama Soya than Sata. Nyama Soya is just a tourist in State house and will do less damage than Sata who will brutalise any opposition to his rule.

  53. God forbid….grant us the peace, harmony, unity. we pray that Zambians shall have free and fair elections without violence. may the Holy Spirit direct all the children in the right direction to chise the chosen ones, the clean hands and good stewards of this nation that can be trusted by all.
    Stay blessed children of God

  54. #64 Chomba: I agree with you and this should include Chipimo Jnr as well. This will be a formidable team of young leaders, the Cheatahs, as described by one Nigerian author in one of the articles on Lusaka Times last week. They will need to introduce a formidale media to counter PF, MMD propaganda. A National newspaper is the best. I doubt if MMD will allow it. I’ve also got doubts about the people sponsoring Milupi & Chipimo, I have a feeling they are sponsored by MMD to split the opposition. It’s posible to convince them to join forces with UPND and no doubt they will give both MMD and PF a big scare. I hope UPND command are working on this. I hope that explains why they are ones promoting the Pact issue. Remember UNIP Revival party under Masheke is part of the Pact through UPND.

  55. Just watching from the grand stand, but I hear you Kalusa. That is what we have been saying all along but we were labelled bootlickers, bought, etc etc. Now that it’s coming from the horse’s mouth (approved by HH himself no doubt), can you say that HH has been bought, and who has enough money to do that? This will definitely destroy the myth of brown envelopes.

  56. This time around we need people of substance to move the economy in our country not these recycled politicians who want to enrich themselves from our little tax. We need people who have an agenda for the nation, people who have already worked for their families and not go into politics to work for their pockets, people who have a desire to take zambia higher, and this can come from HH and Milupi. HH and Milupi whoever would want to take you at this moment just want to use you and dump you in the near future. PF and MMD used Sakwiba Sikota and later dumped him like a mopping cloth, please learn something from this incidence. Learn to work together and never accept to be used in anyway by these parties. Wake up HH and Milupi, HH learn from your friend’s mistakes please.

  57. Many of your supporters(HH) do not trust Sata and will not vote for him no matter what, and that will force them to abandon you after elections the way they did to Saki. HH, Milupi, and Chipimo will make the change us zambians deserve. Go guys for the good of zambia. Votting for Sata I personally do not see it as change, but just the other branch of MMD the only difference will be the dictatorship of Sata which the media and everyone in zambia is going to suffer. How can you vote for a party whose constitution and policies are in one person’s mind and that is Sata, we need to wake up zambians.

  58. How can people forget all the nasty stuff Sata did before he was dumped by Kafupi! The Post inclued!Zambians should wake up and smell the coffee. Sata will destroy the country if given a chance!

  59. Why cant HH, Chipimo and Milupi form a pact or even a single party? I think these are the guys who can take us forward. These recycled politicians have had their best years behind. Lets look into the future soberly.

  60. Appreciate RB’s efforts, says Barotse establishment

THE Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in Western province has said Zambians should appreciate President Rupiah Banda for his concerted efforts of initiating various developmental projects in all parts of the country.

BRE Nalolo representative Induna Mukwakwa said President Banda was the kind of a leader the country needed because his unique leadership had improved standard of living especially people in rural areas.

Induna Mukwakwa said the entire BRE foundation was impressed with President Banda and his Government’s work attitude of fostering developmental projects in the province from where his predecessors left.

  62. He said BRE was happy with President Banda because within short period he took over as President had worked tirelessly to find resources for upgrading of much talked about Mongu-Kalabo road.

“I am here representing BRE and I am so delighted to tell you that BRE is very impressed with work of President Banda here in our province. Since he took over his office, today we have received several developmental projects Mongu-Kalabo road. This has proven us he is a concerned leader and needs our support,” Induna Mukwakwa said.

He said BRE had enjoyed the cordial relationship with the Government for continued release of funds to develop economic sectors such as education, health and agriculture in the province.

  63. He said all traditional rulers in the province would work closely with the Government to receive further developments because it had remained a sleeping economic giant for several years.

Induna Mukwakwa said upgrading of major road networks in which some were successful completed such as Mongu-Senanga brought much confidence for the locals to rally behind President Banda.

He assured RDA that BRE would ensure all contractors carrying out road works in the province were protected and given sufficient land to set camp sites and work in a conducive atmosphere.

  64. And Mr Muwanei said he was glad the current developments being fostered in the province had created massive employment for locals thereby reducing poverty levels among several households.

He assured chiefs and the locals that the Government would continue to deliver sustainable development projects because the province and upgrading of road infrastructure would easy economic trade with neighbouring countries.

  65. Chongwe health centres land K300m equipment

GOVERNMENT says K300 million worth of equipment as well as motor bikes have been purchased and distributed to all health posts in Chongwe District.

Gender and Women in Development minister Sarah Sayifwanda said Nyangwenya Rural Health Centre has been completed while Mulamba Health Post has since been opened.

Ms Sayifwanda said Government was committed towards improving the health standards of the people even in the remotest parts of the country.

  66. Ms Sayifwanda was speaking in Chongwe at the weekend when she graced at the 14th Chibwela Kumushi traditional ceremony of the Soli people.

She said the event was important because it showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Soli people.

Ms Sayifwanda said ceremonies such as the Chibwela Kumushi play a major role in shaping the young generation into responsible adults in society.

She said traditional ceremonies create a sense of self-esteem and encouraged the tenets of social responsibility and respect among all the people.

  67. Ms Sayifwanda implored the youths on the need to preserve their cultural heritage and values especially traditional ceremonies.

The Chibwela Kumushi traditional ceremony is held annually to celebrate the new harvest and for the subjects to pay respect to the throne by sharing their produce.

Chief Bunda-Bunda who spoke through a representative Agnes Kalonga said he acknowledged the development projects which Government had undertaken in his chiefdom.

He said his chiefdom had received additional classrooms and new health centres which would go a long way in improving the education and health standard of the people in the area.

  68. Poll depicts accurate picture of Pact — Simutanyi

THE Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has said the findings of the opinion poll it conducted reflect the true picture on the ground and dismissed allegations that it is funded by MMD.

CPD executive director Neo Simutanyi said at a Press briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the results of the survey were representative of the public’s perception of the PF/UPND Pact.

He urged UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to accept the results and challenged him to commission an independent poll and compare the results with the findings of the CPD.

  69. “We stand by our results and are confident that the results of our survey are representative of public opinion on the PF/UPND pact at this point in time. These were not our views but those of a cross section of Zambians we interviewed,” he said.

Among some of the findings of the opinion poll were that the PF and UPND pact is neither sustainable nor viable because of the ethnic and regional support bases mainly among the Bemba and Tonga speaking people.

The poll conducted in five provinces of Zambia indicated that because of the ethnic and regional dynamics, the PF/UPND Pact alienates other non-Bemba and non-Tonga tribes and has the potential to induce an anti-Bemba and anti-Tonga political mobilisation.

  70. Dr Simutanyi said the opinion poll employed scientific, verifiable techniques and in the interest of transparency, CPD has nothing to hide nor seek political gain in conducting the surveys.

He said Mr Hichilema on Tuesday, used the platform of Radio Phoenix to rubbish the opinion poll of the viability and suitability of the PF/UPND Pact and made wild allegations about the CPD and its executive director, which could not go unchallenged.

He said Mr Hichilema alleged the CPD poll was an MMD plot to destabilise the PF/UPND Pact and accused him of promoting tribalism and division in the country.

  71. He gave Mr Hichilema a 48-hour ultimatum to prove that the organisation is an MMD aligned and funded one, failure to which, legal action will be commenced.

Dr Simutanyi said CPD was not aligned in anyway with the ruling MMD either formally or informally and had never received money from the MMD or the Government for that matter.

When contacted for a comment Mr Hichilema said Dr Simutanyi as an intellectual and academician should appreciate criticism.

  72. Meanwhile, Dr Simutanyi said it was time that politicians and the media took opinion polls seriously.

Dr Simutanyi said polls provide citizens and voters with vital information of what the public opinion was at a particular point in time.

He said opinion polls help politicians gauge public opinion and use that in planning strategies of party mobilisation and voter education.

  73. He said politicians who despised opinion poll results showed disrespect for public opinion and that could work against them.

Dr Simutanyi said CPD undertook an opinion poll on public attitudes towards the PF/UPND Pact on behalf of the Times of Zambia.

The idea of media organisations commissioning polling agencies to undertake polls on their behalf had become an established practice in developed democracies.

  74. He said the BBC, CNN, The Times and Guardian, among others regularly commission reputable polling organisations such as Gallup to undertake opinion polls on their behalf.

“We therefore do not find anything strange with the Times of Zambia having commissioned us to undertake the opinion poll,” he said.

There had been a lot of interest in the results of the opinion poll and that CPD had received numerous requests for the report.

  75. Dr Simutanyi said since the Times of Zambia commissioned the poll, the newspaper had all the rights over data and results.

He said the work of CPD was to independently undertake a scientific study on the PF/UPND Pact.

He said the Times of Zambia now had the complete data set and results of the survey and only the newspaper could release them.

The two findings of the study were that leadership of the pact should be decided now and that PF president Michael Sata was the most preferred presidential candidate for the pact.

  76. ****in Chief MMD bootlicker how many dickk heads have you licked so far….No wonder the ****erz are having the famous RED LIPS….as for this ****in fake UPND youth clown,he is just pretending to be in the party when he has been inducted as a dickk head licker by Chief MMD bootlicker.I will personally beat any asss clown with red lips unless he is carrying a red card.

  77. Mwata & the other MMD bootlickers: there are a lot of developmental projects going on at the moment because the Zambian economy is doing well as a result of the favourable copper prices at the moment. This has nothing to do with RB’s good leadership as you are trying to claim. Actually the economic times newspaper predicted this last year when they wrote an article about the likelihood of MMD retaining power due to favourable economic times. Unfortunately for Zambia RB and his team have no ecomic vision and the country will miss out on taking advantage of the boom times to initiate sustainable developmental projects. HH would have been the best president for now but Sata would be worse than RB due to his appetite for socialist policies. RB has no direction despite inheriting a good team.

  78. All those well meaning zambian who have appetite for development should support HH, Milupi and Chipimo. These guys will hold the solution to our economy, we should not get used to the worste as a nation. We deserve better than Sata and Rupiah.

  79. So far RB all the way, economy is doing well, peace in the country other than the violence being initiated by William Banda and HH. Put a list of Cabinet ministers against either PF or UPND or if you want possible Pact cabinet and compare. People like Hon. Mpombo actually helped clean up RB’s team by leaving.

  80. Ba LT ….this clearly shows that u r a sponsored piece of paper…………..i can only assure u that u r not makin any impact …

  81. Mpangula Mputyu, like your comments my man. Dont Mind this useless cadre called Senior Citizen, He doesnt have a life.

  82. To me it’s great these concerns are coming out and been addressed now than later. It shows just how people have become impatient with RB, RED LIPS and KAFUPI, and would like to have all the bottlenecks ironed out now rather than later. Let’s keep on with the conversation on the Pact, in order to strengthen it by day by day

  83. Kalusa what has become of you now? anyway we all know that you are a “FAILURE” you failed in the land where you hail from, Chingola and finally in Ndola where you thought by working for Kafubu water & sewerage company people were going to vote for you but HELL NO waliloba eha ouma, lastly i personally understand your situation you are broke and Lukanga water were you are, there are NO deals like the ones you used to have at Kafubu with Musumali Happy no wonder you have turned into a bootliker!!!

  84. Joe if you are a credible man you are supposed to raise such issues to HH in your meetings. Coming out to the press simply shows your very poor leadership qualities. Youngman just leave and join RB cause that is where you can suit best. Don’t waste out time!!!!
