Rupiah is using ZAMTEL money to campaign – Sata

Share

PF leader Michael Sata

Patriotic Front, PF, president, Michael Sata, has mockingly praised President Rupiah Banda for being sincere in his statement that the benefits from the privatization of ZAMTEL have already started coming in.

The PF leader has accused President Rupiah Banda of using the money from the sale of ZAMTEL to send First Lady, Thandiwe Banda, to go round the country to campaign for him.[pullquote]Mr. Sata explains that all the money that came from the sale of ZAMTEL has been consumed by President Banda.
[/pullquote]

In an interview with QFM, Mr. Sata says President Banda’s sincerity that the sale of ZAMTEL has already started benefiting the country is good.

He says so far one of the benefits the President is talking about is the loss of 1, 669 jobs at ZAMTEL.

Mr. Sata further says the President is the only one who has benefited from the privatization of ZAMTEL by government.

Mr. Sata explains that all the money that came from the sale of ZAMTEL has been consumed by President Banda.

He adds that ZAMTEL is still using Zambian tax payers’ money despite the new owner Lap Green Networks taking over running of the company.

He has since challenged president Rupiah Banda to show Zambians the benefits of ZAMTEL’s privatization, apart from the loss of 1, 669 jobs at the company.

  1. “The PF leader has accused President Rupiah Banda of using the money from the sale of ZAMTEL to send First Lady, Thandiwe Banda, to go round the country to campaign for him.”

Where is your evidence Mr. Sata??

  2. If I were the Cobra, I would, at this point be busy laying the vision for the country after 2011 instead of wasting time pointing fingers at Bwezani. That’s how you get the votes.

  3. this is very true because alot of former zamtel employees have not yet been paid their dues! where has the money gone! our letters stated that within 48 hours (2 days) we will have our dues in our bank accounts, so far nothing!

  4. Yah, yay, yah, yah, ati shani shikulu Sata?! Mwinsho, Ba Sata balabila ati “aalaabbi” apela abakashi bakwe indalama shaku Zamutelo, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  5. None of the lay off Zamtel employee has been paid to date. This might just end up like other parastetals who are still waiting for their money to date. 1, 669- what will happen to these people? These are skilled people from Zamtel college, UNZA, CBU and Zamtel used to send its employees abroad for training. What a waste of resources.

  6. apalefuuka ichushi ninshi pali umulilo…i agree with MIKAELI SATA….the donation that the wife is doing are tooooo much where is the money coming from..katwishi ba BANDA ngabalakwata nenshita yakukalyapo abakashi

  7. True Mr President, we are aware what Thandiwe is doing. Where has she gotten the money she is distributing? Is it from her terminal benefits as teacher?

  8. SATA’s number is 111, holl at the monkey. And he do look like a monkey, don’t he? I think Zed does not have a presidential candidate until we hit 36. Am talking 2016. Are you ready?

  9. Baseless criticism is dangerous. t may lead to the downfall of the big man. He should get the facts first before openning his mouth. Otherwise the enemy will find space for a killer punch.
Of course money has been diverted and misused but what are the plans after 2011. Hw will he take the country forward.
My advice-Do not waste time campaigning in cities and towns Ba Sata, GO to the rural Zambia and sell your manifesto. City and town dwellers are already set to vote wisely!

  10. If what this bubbling f.o.o.l. is saying is true why does he not report to the relevant authorities. He can even try using his vuvuzelas in parley to try and impeach his fellow dinosaur. Sata s.u.c.k.s to say the least! His greatest mistake is to think he is the best leader Zambia can and will ever have. What a joker and loser!! This oldie supported the ka dwarf to the hilt. Sata is part of the problem and not the solution!! Ama politics ya nkotizi panse!!!!

  11. sata jealousy, if it was your wife as first lady would you not have allowed her to visit the country side. do we need money from zamtel for thandiwe to go to mansa hell no. were didnt vera chiluba and maureen mwanawasa go, they reached out everywere thats what goes with plot one thats why sata and HH cant sleep bcos they want to go to plot one. sata jealousy

  12. He seems to know a lot about the alleged corruption of RB and yet he claims he did not know about Chiluba’s alleged corruption for the ten years he served under him, until he was shown classified documents by the late LPM- hence his push for Chiluba’s third-term. Of course PF kaponyas will not see this contradiction and jump on the band or should it be boat wagon in condeming RB without an iota of evidence – blah, blah, blah. These are the same PF kaponyas who were rubbishing Thandiwe’s donations as mere peanuts.

  13. So basically he is telling the village folks who dont normally vote for him no donations from me when am in power. hmmmm might not be a good strategy at the moment

  14. LET THANDIWE ACCOUNT FOR WHO GAVE HER THE MONEY TO USE.

OTHERWISE SHE WILL LIVE WITH THE TAG OF GHOST WORKER AND HAVE THE STIGMA OF CHILUBA WHO GAVE AWAY UNACCOUNTED MONEY TO BUY VOTES.

WHY WAS SHE GIVING OUT MMD CHITENGE?

HOW MUCH MONEY IN TOTAL DID SHE GIVE?

Zambian government is popular with spending money that is not traceable or accounted for.

The whole Chiluba affair lays on this weakness.

  15. Ka Thandiwe was an obsure teacher in rural Zambia and once abused by grandfather RB who later impregnanted her out of weddlock (SHIKULU ANADYA LIVE). where has she suddenly gottent he money to buy the Chitenge and money dishinmg out to womens clubs in Northern & Luapula Province. Too bad she is coming into firing line from me cause she was distributing MMD chitenge bearing RB’s big head. That is taking advantange of UPND & PF poor women memebers in dare need of Chitenges.

  16. #24 The same shushushu who did not give him information about Chiluba’s alleged corruption? You cant have it both ways. He either knew about Chiluba’s corruption or what he is saying now is just the usual baseless claptrap Sata is unable to stop spewing.

  17. Ba sata! U are now sounding useless, pact has serious problems and u are busy opening your big mouth on baseless issues. Mudalam you are used up.

  18. Why people still talking about ba Sata,I think thank God sata is a man if he was a woman i tell you no one can get a sleep because he talks to much….he can talk but in his talking you can just get one point which an insult…..why is he like this ….??????? pls friends of sata tell me ..i want to know

  19. Why VUVUZELA Post is against PACT recently!!!!!

An arrangement to sponsor Magande on one of the small parties being formed has reached advanced stage, hence distabilise PACT and in 2011 denounce SATA to the bone and promote MAGANDE as presidential aspirant. This is a fact becoz they know that SATA with his dictatorial stance could close them down.

  20. Can all those attacking Sata, tell us the Benefits that the sale of Zamtell has brought to Zambians? Thats the point he is driving forward! The Article clearly says “… Sata has mockingly..” I cant believe all you bloggers cant understand! You read but dont understand! Terrible!

  21. Thanks #33 for clarifications, Let the other morons read the article first before denouncing Sata. These dirt tribalists.

  22. #30 some may say your comment is verging on the sexist but you have really made me laugh! It is true that man can talk and talk and talk even more rubbish. Can somebody suggest to him to go for the world record in talking jibberish and m.a.t.u.vi.

  23. #s 33 andd 34- These are MMD sponsored bloggers. To them any one saying sense against the MMD is wrong because their bread depends on MMD continuing in power. They have done everything including tribalism to destabilize the PACT–If HH is head Bembas will quit the PACT—If SATA is head the TONGAS will vote MMD and simple minds have been brain washed. SATA or no SATA MMD will be kicked out of office 2011.We are not short of presidential material.

  24. Why is Sata complaining? After all he will buy back the company when he gets to plot 1 next year in his dreams? The company has just been sold and people are talking about the benefits , is that the 90 day mentality coming out again? Why not look at other recent privatisations such as Zanaco and discuss whether or not it was good for the govt to privatise it. Surely Zamtel is now undergoing re-structuring and it is too early to say whether or not privatisation was a good thing or not or am I missing something?

  25. #s 33 and 34 The nation will no longer be spending money to keep Zamtel afloat, secondly the International gateway has been liberalised (it is cheaper to make international calls now.) Zamtel was monopolising the International gateway and they became less innovate in their operations. Eventually, it will also be cheaper to make calls across networks. Most multinational companies operating in Zambia were complaining about the cost telecommunication in Zambia, with the lowering of rates now things might be a bit easier for them now. In short, the cost of doing business has been reduced.

  26. At last, #33 and #34; well sad! I cannot believe some of the people here. Can anyone please tell us the benefit of ZamTel sale? Can you also tell us where the 1700 ex Zamtel workers are gonna find Jobs?

  27. Sata is not a dictator.Has he ruled the nation before? He is just a pragmatist period. You are just fond of laisefairez attitude to developmental issues. You buggers!

  28. Sata’s dictatorial tendencies have always prevented him from ruling the country. Zambuians are able to read between the lines, especially villagers they have by far more political intelligence than town shanty dwellers.

  29. Towards an ownership society.Small firms contribute considerably to economic growth and vitality. Moreover, many people world over have chosen entrepreneurial routes because doing so offers greater economic and psychological rewards than does the large company route. Ex Zamtel employees have the opportunity to define their own destiny henceforth. They have capital, supporting Government, legislative frameworks, wider target market and support institutions to realise their dreams.Work with ZPA, ministry of commerce and people oriented NGOs to take off with a winning Gameplan.

  30. Some qustions to ask ourselves – was Zamtel poorly managed? Could a change in management and reduced government involvement have achieved the goal of making the company viable and competitive? Did ZANACO have to be owned by a foreign bank? In my opinion, both organisations could have been restructured using Zambian resources. What we have at the moment are two zambian companies that will now be externalising their profits with resultant scarcity of foreign currency and high exchange rates. Some countries have put restrictions on industries in which foreign companies can invest for this reason. We should learn from other countries; protectionist policies if well targeted can help the country.

  31. #44, “What we have at the moment are two zambian companies that will now be externalising their profits with resultant scarcity of foreign currency and high exchange rates”. I don’t know whether to cry or not, bushe mulibwino mumutwe ba tata?

  32. One of key indicators of good governance is disclosure. It is not politicking to ask the first or indeed the President to account for their expenditure! The President was elected to manage the national resources(not MMD) to bring development.

  33. We told you what r.ubbish Sata was, didn’t we? If today was a presidential election kaya, a taste of things to come in 2011. Sata is busy decampaigning himself with such stu.pi.dity, and when he loses it’s rigging or brown envelopes or shu shu shu or such kaponya reasoning. Very nice to be a kaponya, no thinking, reasoning or planning required, you just exist from day to day.

  34. #45 SATA’S EYES – I dont know what you mean. But what I said #36 is true not so? These statements were always in our papers werent they? Didnt some MMD officials say these things?

  35. Ba Sata,be informed that First Ladies in the whole world have un written responsibilities over the Nation in which their husbands rule. How many donations have variuos companies, etc donated to the first Lady for her to distribute to the needy either directly by herself or through an NGO as she declined to form her own.In any case, the closest person to the husband is a wife.As for distributing MMD chitenge materials,Thandiwe is neither a Civil Servant nor a Church reverand,She knows that her presence at State House is because MMD was entrusted with authority to govern this country.Which regulation stops her from doing what she did?

  36. Ba SATA all what you know is just to find faultys in your friends. when will they ever do sumthing positive in your eyes.

  37. sata has exposed himself as a buffoon of the highest order. the workers have been paid and a the bulk of them will be re-employed on new contracts. there are a lot of highly educated technical people at zamtel and they will get their jobs back

  38. no.52 have you seen Mrs Obama donating things? no Imwe ba. Fee. Colour na RB wenu are happy that a nursery teacher can suddenly have enough money to distribute to the women and you think it is okay? Why dont these same donors give the money direct to the population if the meanwhile?

  39. #58 you are confused do you feed from RB i think you are from the same place with this foolish president they call RB ishilu lyamwana.

  40. Ati we need change from RB to Sata – from the frying pan into the very big fire? No thanks! I know who I will be voting for and it never will be Sata, not even after hell has been frozen for a thousand years. NEVER!

  41. Bane tulatasha, at least we have some one talking on behave of may of us zambians. just imagen, if Sata can not talk, who else will? Miyanda? Chama Chakomboka is late, Ngondo?

  42. The question is Zamtel has chased 1,699 into streets when they promised to employ more people. In addition to this, they promised them to be given their money in two days, but now its two weeks without ant sign of money coming. You dull people., is this what you call developement?

Libya will be making money and that money will be going to Libya while you Zambias will remain without jobs and impoverished…you call this development?

Really Zambia is full of dull creatures whom God cant even listen to now. God gave you resources but you have given all the natural resources to foreginers…is this what you call development?

hee…dulll Zambians who will never learn. You will suuffer till the end of the world.

    YOU DULL CREATURES.

  43. The people who are attacking Sata lacks the understanding that within the govt inner circle are people who are spilling the beans about what has happened with Zamtel money. Those attacking Sata we know you very well. You are mmd cadres working in foreign mission or cyber sponsored characters of assassins. In intelligency circles they use code for each mission. Those who are dreaming that Sata is telling lies you are mistaken. Wait and see.

  44. #63 Was Sata part of the Chiluba govt that privatised and retrenched thousands of Zambian workers or not? Was he against privatisation then or has just changed now in order to hoodwink the Zambians like yourself who are not dull? Is Zambia the only country that has privatised its national telephone company that was wasting tax-payer’s money in order to keep it on its feet because it was not as competitive as it could be? Me I know people who used to work at Zamtel and they have been paid and are very happy with what they got. Dont believe everything you read just because it is coming from the uncontrollable mouth of Satan.

  45. #64Wait and see what? The guy who knows everything did not know according to himself ati Chiluba was a thief so what can he tell us now? Somehow in is old age and out of government circles he has become more astute after not noticing Chiluba stealing right in front of his eyes? Talk about scraping the barrel. Me I dont work in a foreign mission, I live in the diaspora but visit Zambia atleast twice a year so dont tell me that I have been sponsored by MMD simply because I am not convinced that Sata is the best man to be the president of Zambia. I have not receivd brown envelopes from anybody but have used my head and my memory to know that chimbwi face would be a disaster for the future of my country and my children.

  46. This old man is really insane to say the least, he went to distribute money at MMD conversion in Kabwe and that was our money realised from provatisation. He can deceive dull ones and not people like us who are aware of his brutal past behaviour.

  47. buti chi sata chila zanda! kwati amafi tailefwaya ukufuma kumunyelo. still a handsome man, nga nalimwanakashi kuti nachi fyompa kumulumo mmmmh yummy

  48. #67; thanks for your support. I give up on debate on this site sometimes because there is a tendancy by some people to post their insults through the occasional ‘dig’. On another note, I was reading today about Canada Potash, and the supposed bid from China, and it got me thinking about copper in Zambia. If China is one of our biggest consumers of copper, then it is in their interests to have the copper price as low as possible. It got me asking, who are the investors in copper mines in Zambia? What are their anchors? Who are the financiers? Are they private investors or the sovereign funds? if it is sovereign funds – are the mines mandated to sell the copper mined at LME prices? Why are most of the copper mines still making losses?

  49. #70 – these are the issues we need to be debating about. If only Zambia manufactured and processed a quarter of China’s copper needs, we would have 200,000 men and women employed full time for the next 20 years. This will up GDP and with good governence, agricultue will be boosted and in turn we could feed/supply angola and congo for forex. These are simple plans but RB does not and will not get it. If you think Sata is barking, try and find out what RB’s son’s current portifolio’s are. Guys – noone will develop our country but us and to do so we need to raise the game, even in blogging.

  50. Dear True Zambians, among us there are !diots who hear a lot of thing, but not even once have they ever processed anything. One F00L had said that Zamtel was the fist parastatal company ever to have being sold for a price that covered terminal benefits. Today Zamtel ex-employees haven’t got paid. You have heard,,,,,,,,,,, now please process all the events and they way things are happening. Zambians we must react.

  51. Ba tata ba Sata kanshi teti mutushefye? Mwakota! Chilemoneka kwati utumano tonse, uto mwashele nato, natupwa kwena. Saleni ukuleka ukuisebanya no kuleka ifikansa fya chalo. kanshi imwe mutunganyafye enchito yenu? Shileniko imisepela shitekeko. Utuma ‘brown envelopes’ mwalepela kanshi twena tekwiba iyo? Epo nashila nine KK. Umwina Zambia nkonko.

  52. Anyway Friday is almost finished. Lets see what the old mad man will be ranting aimlessly about tomorrow. Hope you all have a good night!

  53. SATANA WHY LIE?
THAT 1,000 Zamtel employees have already been paid their retrenchment packages should be seen as a firm commitment by the new owners Lap Green Networks to fulfil the requirements of the deal signed with the Government when they took over the firm.

The management of Lap Green Network has through its interim chief operations officer Mukela Muyunda endeavoured to explain why not all workers have received their packages.
His explanation should not be rubbished by the workers or even the non- Zamtel employees because Zamtel’s workforce was huge and the payment process will take time to be concluded.
The workers should take consolation from his assurance that they will all receive their money very soon.

  54. #78 You must be a PF kaponya wa zoona to stoop so low. Actually even for PF that is a new law. Even the cobra himself would not go that far. Where you there? Mwakangiwa na ma arguments and you resort to that kind of language and you expect self-respecting people to vote for the man who impregnates two sisters out of wedlock?

  55. Zamtel had too many people that were on the payroll that did not have good qualifications to meet modern day technonlogy. Let’s all be reminded, like any other Zambian Parastatal company, too many people got employed just to fill up the numbers. Times have changed and Technology is taking grounds.

  56. Zamtel desperately needs new technology to mark up with New Cutting Edge Technology. If you look at all the Global Telecom firms, they have cut down on the work force in recent years. This is because a lot of work is automated by Information Technology Infrastuctures. This is happening in USA, Europe, Far East, South America and Africa as well. In telecom businesses, a person sitting on a single PC Terminal can do work that would have been covered by 500 people about 5-10 years ago.

  57. One of the reasons why Post Office businesses have collapsed in the world is because; Cell phones & Electronic Mail (Email) has become the default way of communication, by the business houses and every day people in the streets.
So why should Zamtel keep the workforce when technology is taking over day after day.

Let’s all reason and understand the ever changing world and not just be critical for invalid reason. It’s my hope that all the workers will be paid as agreed.

  58. The man has completely no agenda for the country and his main focus is just to discredit RB – very sad. At the rate we are going, kamwendo m’njila will have marketed Zambia like no other head of state we have had. And the benefits will far outlive him. When we come in, our job will just be to make sure that our people reap the benefits.

  59. Why hasnt #78 been deleted? This is the kind of blogging you get from PF kaponyas nothng but crude insults. If it was true that RB’s wife is using the money from Zamtel to distribute to poor women then what is the problem? After all as Zambian women it is also their money. If the old man has got hard evidence besides his big mouth it would be good for him to show us so that maybe for once some of us might actually believe what he has got to say.

  60. ba sata if what muhabi lungu is saying is true that 213billion has been paid to zamtel former employees then your a useless leader lacking facts. I.d.o.t

  61. who is this man who adore to insult everybody ?
Everyone knows he would do anything to become the new president…..
    However there is limit…
Maybe he should be more careful before insulting any Libyan nor Congolese people…

My African family is expecting better than this to be the new president..
    LOVE and Respect…maybe…?????

  62. Ba Sata game yabipa. Your fellow old man is not idle as you thought. The man is working. Look at the infrastructure he is putting up. Schools, Hospitals, Roads , police houses, teachers houses now we have a bumper harvest. Its not easy to beat him. You have to be very strong. RB is really working, we are seeing things happening. Hea has a strong team. You should also comment wisely otherwise people will just take you to be a distractor. Sometimes patty him n the back for job welldone dont just critisise.

  63. You can’t expect more than this from a political Comedian.Micheal Chilufya SATA. It is said that our Political comedian (SATA) puts a full stop where he stops breathing. The retrenched workers are being paid their retrenchment packages, surely no sane person would delight in people loosing their jobs, but to insinuate that one is happy about it especially a head of state makes me wonder how far people can go to try and get to plot No.1. Comrades PF members that is SATA for you. However if he gets to plot 1. I will say he is my president (people have spoken). For now PF guys SATA is entirely all yours.

  64. #75, I meant only True Zambians not !diots like you. From how you sound, you must be from the Pit-Latrine League. Please stay there[-(

  65. #77 typical – why don’t we sell the whole country so we can all then sit on our a**es and drink our “retrenchment”. Until it gets finished and there’s nothing left to sell. Is that progress?

  66. #77 typical – why don’t we sell the whole country so we can all then sit on our a**es and drink our “retrenchment”. Until it gets finished and there’s nothing left to sell. Is that progress?

  67. At the time Sata was in the UK his popularity was so high that there was no if in PF supports, it was just a matter of time. I questioned this and to my surprise I got a lecture saying I was just out of touch with politics in Zambia. I argued stating that I only wanted to establish why Sichinga, Dr Mutukwa were 100% that Sata will make it when they still had the Jordan river to cross. I further reminded them that if you are in opposition the obstacles you face are like crossing a river full of crocodiles when you are being chased by hungary lions. There was no complaint then other than a bubble of self confidence which I thought was complancecy. They needed to aim for a landslide so that even if they slipped they would have still made it. But now development projects are talking.
