Mpombo is scared

Share

Kafulafuta Member of Parliament George Mpombo

THE MMD in Masaiti District has said Kafulafuta Member of Parliament (MP) George Mpombo’s challenge of his expulsion from the ruling party is a mark of cowardice and proof that he has no capacity to re-contest the seat.

And MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu has said the expulsion of Mr Mpombo from the party is legal, and the MP is ignorant on the party constitution.

Masaiti District chairperson Michael Katambo said it was shocking for the former Defence minister, who had routinely bragged that President Rupiah Banda and the MMD leadership were scared of him because he was a political heavyweight, to protest his expulsion from the party.

“Mr Mpombo said he was fully armed and ready to defeat his political rivals but we are now wondering that the man who claimed he was game is now rushing to engage lawyers to challenge the decision to expel him from the MMD,” he said.

Mr Katambo said Mr Mpombo was scared of the by-election because he had realised that he would be defeated, and the grassroots support he boasted about was non-existent.

He said even the seven ward councillors Mr Mpombo said would resign and align themselves to his interests were still loyal to the MMD leadership.
Kafulafuta Constituency is in Masaiti District.

“The man has not done any serious development projects in Kafulafuta and he is obviously having difficulties to woo supporters from among the local people,” Mr Katambo said.

Kafulafuta Constituency MMD chairperson, Abraham Mwape said the people in the area now knew the true colours of Mr Mpombo, and he could no longer be taken seriously.

Mr Mwape said MMD members in Kafulafuta were ready to face Mr Mpombo and prove to him that he was simply a political lightweight.

Mr Nyangu said the decision to expel Mr Mpombo from the party was legal because the current National Executive Committee (NEC) office-bearers had the mandate to execute their duties until the next party convention was held.

He said contrary to Mr Mpombo’s assertions that his expulsion was illegal because the current NEC members acted outside the party’s constitution following the expiry of their mandate on July 17, NEC’s mandate and all decisions made by its membership remained valid and legally binding.

“What is Mr Mpombo talking about? You see it is because he is so new in the party and in politics.

“In 1995, we had our party convention in December, and this did not stop NEC members from executing their duties, just because the convention had not yet been held,” he said.

Mr Nyangu said the process towards the holding of the party’s convention was on-going.

Mr Mpombo has engaged his lawyers to challenge the decision by the MMD NEC to expel him because it was unconstitutional.

The Kafulafuta MP and his Chilanga counterpart, Ng’andu Magande were last Saturday expelled from the ruling party for gross indiscipline.
Mr Mpombo could not be reached for comment.

  1. Ba Katambo nishinga mwalyamo? Pekapa mwalikusapota ba mpombo kumo nemfumu shonse isha mwilamba, lelo mwayaluka mana. You have bad manners you ****. We are the grassroots we are behind Mpombo no matter what. we dont care how much you have been give to issue that fake statement.

  2. He should wait until THE POST covering him, thats when he’ll see how cruel the world is,and let him at one time go to membe for alms and see what response he’ll if he wont grab the headlines again for being a destitute

  3. While Magande believes in becoming President through coronation, George Mpombo thrives on grooving activities unacceptable to President Banda but highly appreciated by all tyrannical leaders throughout human history. Michael Sata like his protégé late Dada Idi Amin of Uganda likes those who can Groove before him and Mpombo would be his perfect fit in the act.

  4. Not even recitation or memorization of the Oxford dictionary for his usual bombastic words incoherently is giving Mpombo the much flaunted potency. He has no political fire in his stomach. If Mpombo is a dynamic political machine with a national constituency, let him follow his friend Magande’s route. Magande has settled to launch his own political party where he will run as President in 2011 unless he is given the Presidency of the embattled pact circus failed by dictatorial leadership of Sata where dissatisfied senior members in leadership are defecting in record numbers.

  5. Its within his constitutional right to appeal you dunderhead. What is the point of having two by elections in 10 months for the same sit? It appears you roaches dont know what it feels like paying tax.
If we had a serious guy at plot 1,he would have stopped this nonsense

  6. Ba LT naimwe, why having more that one thread of the same stuff? Are you telling me that’s the only news you can get? Atase! indeed you are an MMD campaign platform.

  7. I know the kind of a person Mpombo is when he was our PTA chairman at Chiwala and the state he was in and I used to get baffled with his continued attacks given his background.Magande as an educated person cannot fail to survive outside politics unlike him (Mpombo) hence his decision to retire from parliamentary politics.

  8. This party so called MMD is realy finished! Its amazing…..!
“The man has not done no delopment projects in Kalifulafuta!” Now the MMD is telling us about its failures in deloping this country. Its simple, if Mpombo failed, Which party was he…? Ba Katambo, think before you talk, Zambians are not fools!

  9. Indeed Mr. Mpombo has a right to challenge his expulsion. The point is that he has been bosting that he is a ploitical heavy weight and can easily win a by elelction in Kafulafuta. Why waste everybody’s time by challenging? Let him go defend his position on PF (or better still Post party). My conviction is that he is just an empty tin who thrived on familly tree politics through gravelling on LPM’s feet. He has no constituency what so ever!

  10. Sharp Shooter,

When were you at Chiwala boys my man? I went there too in the 8os infact i was in the intake of Michael Katambo then House Captain for Luapula Hostels. I spent my five years in Kafue Hostels next to the park and DH during no nosense Headmaster Mabula Mupandamabula. Then Levy Mwanawasa was head of the Old Boys Association that included General Christon Tembo, General Miyanda, Eric Silwamba, General Nobby Simbeye, Dickson Matutu with all the support from Colgate Palmolive then.

  11. Sharp Shooter,

Its interesting to learn that Michael Katambo is big in politics considering that he had nothing to do with politics but technical courses. Katambo a bookworm was very smart in Additional Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing in our days. Me expected Ba Isdo from Ndola rural and Joseph Mutale jr. to be serious politicians after leaving Chiwala because they were active political activists. Life is full of surprises considering that its Michael Katambo a potential Engineer now politician.

  12. Leadership
I was there in the late 90’s and my hostels were first Chambishi and relocated to down Zam-Zam(Zambezi).Those were days.

  13. In my opinion, Mr. Mpombo is scared that he will suffer a humiliating defeat should Mr. Patrick Mwanawasa contest the same seat. Not even the PF vuvuzela The Post will save him.

  14. Well I dont understand MUpombo..he resigned on his own said he had quit politics and now whats the problem? The bounced cheque mwa?

  15. Mpombo failed as an MP for Kafulafuta?! Wow, now you tell us, you MMD failures!!!! And what do you hope to accomplish by saying all these things about Mpombo? Gain some political points from Zambians? You really must be very shallow if you think Zambians are that s.t.u.p.i.d!!!

I doubt if Zambians differentiates the failures of MPs such as Mpombo from the failures of the MMD as a Party. Now, that’s the kind of sh!t MMD finds itself!!!!

    Simple equation for you:
    MPOMBO’s FAILURES = MMD FAILURES.

    Translation:
MMD has outlived its usefulnes in the eyes of most Zambians. Good luck in the by-elections and 2011!!

    Get it?!!!!!!

  16. Politics!!!!!, I’l never support any political party or candidate on earth!. Folks, its only the heavenly government that will not only solve your problems but bring everlasting blessings, And NOT ba RB, SATA, HH, MPOMBO etc. How long will it take you folks to realise that man’s rule has failed? When did people start changing governments? yes from time immemorial but human problems continue escalating exponentially! So my advice is instead of you wasting time making other people rich (by voting) why not join me me in awaiting the heavenly government?

  17. Sharp Shooter,

I see you went there long after i had passed through Chiwala.I was there in the late 80s with Michael Katambo. Most guys in our intack went to UNZA and in the Diaspora on scholarships. Today many are engineers in the world. Hope you have made smart progress in life and filted in well post secondary school. Keep building on opportunities: entrepreneurship, professional wise and academically. Chiwala was one of the best training ground for hardworking Global citizenship. Those from Chiwala now in the diaspora, most make it regardless of how long it takes. Best wishes.

  18. Leadership
I have just remembered how the boys in Kafue Hostel used the scoop the awards during Cleaning Competition cos of the location of the Hostel near the park. For others to win,it will be with some extra effort. Sometimes ,the judges were inconsiderate.lol

  19. Good news to all zambian women out there…bouncing a cheque is no longer a crime. Please note that ,this only applies to women, i repeat women!Hooooray!!

  20. “The man has not done any serious development projects in Kafulafuta and he is obviously having difficulties to woo supporters from among the local people,” Mr Katambo said- It is funny that before Mpombo fell out of MMD favour the Times and Daily Mail used to single out KAFULAFUETA as one of the most developed areas due to the hard work and diligency of it’s MP. In any case its not you officials who will decide but us the people.

  21. I wonder what all these unintelligent MMD zealots will say when the MMD kisses dust to Mpombo in the bye election. Even if they field Levy’s baby, and knowing how gutless they are, they will, I cannot foresee how they can defeat Mpombo. As for Magande’s reaction, one can clearly see why Levy wanted him to be the next president. I salute the gallant Tonga bull and I honestly think it is people like Magande, Roger Chongwe, Milipi and Willa Mung’omba this country needs in office, not vile scanks of the worst order and ordour like Sata, HH, William Banda or indeed Kanitundila himself.

  22. EU Projects Zambia’s Graduation to a Developed Country

The European Union-EU has projected Zambia’s graduation from being classified as a least developed country to a developed nation by the year 2013.
EU head of delegation in Zambia Derek Fee indicates that Zambia is performing well economically hence the potential to move from being a developing country.

More headaches for the PF. Everyone is seeing economic growth in Zambia.

  23. #24 Why do you people always forget that there was an internal election in MMD to choose a presidential candidate after LPM died which was won by RB and lost by Magande by a clear margin? What is so good about Magande who never won an election in his home town and only got the Chilanga seat through the machinations of Maureen Mwanawasa? If the man is so good, why cant he accept that he was defeated and move on?

  24. With just about 10 months before parliament iz dizzolved, it iz wize to avoid any unnecessary bye-election, even if it meanz filling a real or imagined court injuction. Who wants to be an MP for 6 months only, after rigorous campaig and spending?

  25. Guys, who attend Mukonch High School in Mukonchi kabwe? We made good lawyers, Doctors and Scientists. We need brains from that School to develop Zambia.

  26. I think MMD tolerated Mpombo for a long time, he had his field day and we could easily see that he had sour grapes. He really overrated himself, he thought he could be president or even vice. I wonder how he is going to survive now that he would be out of parliament. The man was nothing before making a last minute defection from UPND to MMD in 2001 and being made deputy minister by ba mwisho. I mean this could walk a distance of 7km from Chiwala to Ndeke in the scotching October sun dressed in a battered suit and a tie. Politics made him what he is today and he should thank the MMD (particularly ba Mwinsho MHRIP).

  27. #26, Zambia projected to become a developed country by 2013?????? To good to be true because even becoming a middle class by that year is a bit of an exergeration(sp).Nonetheless, we are developing at a faster pace than before but still have a long long way to go.

  28. @ #32 Kadobi

Ya after reading the article again I think MUVI TV made an error. I think they meant to write developing. From least developed to developing country. Nonetheless, the economy is growing and everyone is taking notice.

  29. # 18 Leadership, I am happy to learn that your former school produced ‘responsible’ citizen. I went to school in Luanshya in the early 80s and your former school then was known for its ‘naughty pupils’ and were also good at sports, particularly soccer. Only RASS could match in all aspect whenever they were in Luanshya for competitions, but they would come out tops. Good old days, eeh!

  30. #30 Red Card-Free,

Where you at Mukonchi school and when? The school is in my village and had friends there in the late 80s who went to Mkushi and Serenje Boys after G9. I never imagined anyone from that school – no disrespect menat – in the diaspora or even blogging especially thinking in retrospect.

  31. Hon Mpombo is definately walking on a tight rope, chances of him retaining the seat are very slim more especially if Mwanawasa jr is adopted. For sure this ‘political mosquito’ is dead scared.

  32. #34 Mr Capitalist
Exactly. When I read the article on Muvi,It was hard to believe cos 2013 is too near. What he meant is from least-developed to developing country thus remaining on course for the 2030 vision of reaching middle-income country.

  33. So it is clear the person they do not want to be president is SATA. I foollowed all this dance of Magande and Mpombo. The trick is, Magande is waiting to see if SATA will be chosen as a presidential candiadte of the pact if at all still exists. If they chose HH then Magande will join UPND. Mpombo did not want to follow SATA. he will only do that to try and contest the seat but MMD will win it for Patrick. SATA tried to call these guys to join him but he failed becoz they know what sata stands for..!!! From my accessment MMD will win again if pact fails.

  34. Too bad MMD characters are overjoyed over nothing because the matter is still in Hon Mpombo’s hands.

The expulsions of the duo is not a simple matter though I like what Magande has don over this — but I hope he is no hoping to recalled to be MMD presidential candidate the way late LPM’s case happened in 2001. In looking at “The expulsion of the two MPs if not challenged definitely attracts by-elections. And according to the Electoral Commission of Zambia an average of K2 billion is spent on a single constituency by-election. This by any measure is a lot of money rightly expressed in an article entitled “Mpombo, Magande: Is it the start or end of their political epoch?”in the Time of Zambia Newspaper, MMD is behaving the way AAD MP Charles Milupi did.

    Be blest…

  35. #36, great. I was at Mukonchi in 1996. Thats my home too. I come from Mukonchi particulary in Mubofwe. 3 months ago, we launched mukonchi former pupils association. Please join me on graduates.com. We are privileged to have been educated and exposed. Now let us educate our friends still in that dark place.

  36. #17 Kensi…..Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish
the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In other words be incharge, help somebody and be relevant to society like Nevers once put it. Go vote and criticise politicians when they are behaving badly. Stop this church and kingdom hall indocrination of not getting involved in ploitics. If yo paliament decides to legalise abortion and gay marriages..are u still going to wait for the heavenly government? Kensi….u can do better.

  37. Mpompo is a man that you cant understand, he was just a simple finished guy in Ndola till he was picked from his slumber!

  38. For now, we will keep MMD in power till we get sensible zambians to lead this titanicn to prosperity!

  39. I was wondering why Mpombo was behaving the way he did. NOW i understand him. He had a fist rolled & knackles ready to Rambo. I will seat back and watch the comedy in MMD.

  40. It seems that majority of people that are commenting here the blog are basing their points on hearsay and not facts on the ground.Rupiah and his MMD thugs will find it difficult to win any seat outside Eastern Province. The people on the ground are upset.

  41. # 43 WELL Pa Zed of late all the TOP & former TOP leaders are PICKED from the slumber. Levy and Now RB. Both were very FAST asleep, were SNORING heavily straight to Presidency.

  42. # 27 Chingolongolo:
Of course Banda won the election and we all know that. However, we also know that Paul Tembo defeated Kavindele but Kavi was declared the winner. Levy himself was defeated by Anderson Mazoka but Levy was declared winner. In the recent presidential bye election, Sata clearly defeated Banda but Kanitundila was illegally installed by Sakalanyongo. It also does not come as a surprise that you state Banda won “by a clear margin” & you put a question mark as opposed to an exclamation mark at the end of the sentence because deep down you know the election of Banda was bogus and done by MMD job seekers like Mlongoti and Tetamashimba. Anyway, if a monkey pees on thy head, something surely is dead wrong. No wonder he’s always in the air, that’s where the urine came pouring…

  43. A dictionary is not very helpfull in these cicumstances brother….I know Mpombo is scared of Mwanawasa’s son because he would have the problem of having to defend and destroy the legacy in one job and thats quite hard to do. F**CK off patrick, sorry you are well brought up…it does not work.

  44. Ba MMD no kulimonesha ta, atase! During the Luena bye election, they were saturated to the brim with pomposity that they were going to scoop the seat but a single man party called Milupi made them kiss “umuchanga”. In the Mpombo constituency, I wonder how they can win after the stinking defecation they have been smearing on Levy’s legacy! Well, if Banda is not careful, he will like Chiluba sooner than the date for the next polls have to call for early elections because his majority in parliament would have evaporated.

  45. Mpombo, please do us tax-payers a big favour. take that matter to court, we are tired and sick of by-elections. Zambians be seriuos, this is not about the MP, this is about development. Mwaanga (VJ) we know you do not care about this nation at all, hence you do not mind having these by-electons. Some day, you will be on the sidelines… you cannot always be in the govt. That time is coming soon and soon for sure.

  46. Stop dreaming Parick will never contest Kafulafuta. Even if he did he will do so against the wishes we the Lamba people and chiefs. This has already been discussed in our meetings.

  47. it is a real shame to hear people lie about chiwala , like it were a good school.when we all know too good how it bad stealing was at the school, one could barely leave a cheap pencil on the desk for a second, the school produce more thugs in zambia than any other school.
