The United Party for National Development-UPND has confirmed that it has received a letter from PF leader Michael Sata stating that his party has stopped dealing with UPND.
UPND Deputy Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa confirmed the development to ZNBC news in a telephone interview.
Mr. Mweetwa said Mr. Sata said his party will not deal with the UPND until UPND National Youth Chairperson Joe Kalusa apologises to Mr. Sata over his alleged attacks on him in the media.
He said the UPND is studying the content of the letter and will soon issue a comprehensive statement.
Mr. Mweetwa however, expressed disappointment that the PF can hold the UPND party to ransom over an individual person’s statement.

I have been a fervent supporter of Mr. Micheal Chilufya Sata to the extent of shouting and degrating RB. I was of the hope and belief that UPND & PF hold the key to kick MMD out of power. MMD I still repeat is Not the altenative party or to allow to hand over power to itself.

I remember last year when there was all the noise about the ‘launch’ in June wondering what exactly had been launched when there were no policy pronouncements whatsoever. HH has wasted a lot of time with this pact. He should have tried to dent the image of UPND being a tribal party by trying to recruit Zambian intellectuals from all corners of the country. Coming to the pact: both HH and MCC want to be presidents thats the only problem. A workable resolve would have been for MCC to rule for one term then have it in a MOU that HH should stand in the following term but both want to be presidents at the same time.

The Zambian constitution gives the president so much power such that no one can even sue the president for any personal or party grevances.

Ironically what is happening in Libya should serve as a lesson to PF to assist them articulate something like a policy. In oil rich Libya everything was subsidized for the citizens. Fuel cheapest, low or maybe no taxes, cheap food – everything almost free and some free. So what is the lesson for PF? The lesson is that more money in your pockets cannot sustain a party. Human beings don’t seem to care about these free things, but want democracy and other things that signify freedom. PF and its leader are dictators, have no respect whatsoever for democracy, would end up like Gaddafi if ever they came to power. But no, Zambians are one better than Libyans, they will not allow anything like that to start, in short there will never be a President Sata in Zambia.

OK…I have a solution to this problem…since both SATA and HH want to be president at the same time, which is not possible, why not RB continue till 2016 and then we can try again…if the two still want to be co-presidents again, then we go for George Kunda in 2016 and 2021…then SATA and HH can decide in 2026 on who should run.
This will give them enough time to harmonize their manifestos and programs for the country and how to share the LOOT(POSITIONS)!!

Hard luck,everybody knew except naive supporters that there was no pact.
This is the greatest thing to happen to this PACT which had no direction due to lack of an identifiable leader.
The two parties have just wasted their time in forming an alliance as they had/have irreconcilable differences.
The PF has not attacked the UPND as all they have said is that they do not want to work with their partner. As such, it would be in the UPND’s best interest to forget about the alliance and concentrate on organising themselves for the forthcoming elections. Do not start crying over spilt milk but go your own way afterall the UPND is registered as a single party.
In the same breath, could the PF move on and concentrate on organising their party as the elections are just around the corner.
There is no need for name-calling or attacking each other.

Lets not blame Sata for the failure of the pact. Last year Joe Kalusa insulted Sata through the govt media the Daily and times of Zambia. Sata never spoke to Kalusa instead he asked HH to deal with Kalusa through normal channels and HH said he was studying the content of what Joe Kalusa said. Many people questioned why was Kalusa insulting Sata when Sata and HH are partners? We all came to learn that Kalusa was given a job by the MMD in Ndola. Therefore it was concident that he was hired. PF lusaka young chairman made remarks against HH and he was dropped for insulting HH. If its true that UPND is/was a partner HH would have spoken to Sata and address Kalusa issue because the continuity of Kalusa insulting Sata is unwarranted. Why not MMD? There is room for unity between PF and UPND.

UPND to Decide on Future of UPND-PF Pact in 30 Days.
United Party for National Development (UPND) President, Hakainde Hichilema says his party will make a decision on its future in the UPND-PF Pact within the next 30 days.
He said the UPND is patient but decisive and it will make a decision on its future in the pact within the next 30 days.
Mr Hichilema explained that Mr Kabimba has destroyed the goodwill in the pact……..
He further wondered why the PF is not disciplining Mr Kabimba, who he says is working against the Pact.
UPND should make sure their leadership is multi tribe to get rid of the tribal tag and they should emphasize this in their campaigns. They should also include some women and some youths in the leadership. PF should provide an agreement with the Zambian people that if elected they would not b e dicatatorial. The best way to have gone was the pact to eliminate all rumours of rigging but none of the parties was willing to rise above pettiness and exhibit maturity. The only hope is that God has not forgotten Zambia and he will surely raise leadership who have intergrity, morals and are performance oriented,not even known yet . God has heard the cries of his people and he will come through for Zambia when no one will be expecting it. God bless Zambia and God bless Africa

Remember the majority of Zambians want a majority government ( one which has the backing of the majority citizenry)the 50%+1 vote recommendation comes up for a referendum BEFORE 2011 elections and this when the real revolution shall rise and the people will demand its inclusion in the constitution. I want to react to what John Phiri wrote on this web above. I am disappointed that there still people like John Phiri who think UPND is made of Tongas only. The UPND is a national party better than MMD and PF respectively. John Phirir is a clear indicator that he is a backward thinker who does not reflect on what he says. Tongas have been victimized for a long time from people who are merely jealous of the hard working people of the Southern province; l believe and want to stand by with them that they too have the right to fight for any position in the governance of this country.
