Govt. grants K 6 Billion to SMEs in Eastern province

Share

The Citizen Economic Empower Commission (CEEC) has released close to K6 Billion to 65 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Eastern Province.

Permanent Secretary Eularia Mwale told ZANIS in an interview today that government through the CEEC has released K5,994,428, 377 to 65 SMEs different enterprises since 2007.

Among the major projects that have benefited include poultry, carpentry, tourism, and transport.

The Permanent Secretary noted that CEEC has received 324 applications since the institution began its operations in the province.

Mrs. Mwale, however, urged the benefiting SMEs to ensure that they timely pay back the loans to allow others to access the revolving fund.

She noted that though 65 enterprises had benefited from the CEEC loans, the recovery rate was only at 38 percent.

  1. And govt is saying there is no money.
The same govt released 700 billion for contruction of houses in eastern province, the same govt is rehabilitating roads in eastern province one sided development, what about Mufulira & Chingola were most of the revenue is coming from? Fikabolala fifikala; Fikabolala ifimalepe

    • Ba RB every month niku chipata.Abantu ku Kashikishi,Shangombo,Kalabo,Luwingu,Kasempa they eat nshima with ichiwaya. He has never even set his foot there and yet those are among the most marginalised areas. We are in shi.t in zambia,no true leadership. Now he is distributing geysers, earlier it was mobile fimo fimo.Chimbwi no plan

  2. Mable mungomba loaned all the money to buy chinese buses and formed a company called MWAME, Ine ka k50,000 fye and the file has even gathered cob webs.

  3. Mable, her hubsband Rydah, Board Members all got ‘loans’ these should be behind bars not walking scot free…..byt the way 6billion to the Eastern province and 4.6billion for FTJs death…wow he must have been a province…this man.

  4. We also want to know how much has been spent in other provinces. Why eastern province only. The other day Dora could not explain why Eastern province has so many new schools. This is corruption.

  5. This is equal to the sum of money this government wants to give to Chiluba’s funeral. People in Eastern Province surely deserve more that what you have planned for them now. This is a drop in the ocean of poverty since the dead fellow abused the whole nation.

  6. Am Not surprised “kwanu ni kwanu” i would do the same if i was in plot 1.IF u can’t beat them………………….

    • Much as kwanu ni kwanu, one can strive and reasonably balance distribution of resources. Its these gaps which trigger differences in societies just as the gap between rich and poor does. The man has just been visiting Kumawa,he doesnt even have an idea where Kashikishi,Kalabo,Shangombo,Kasempa are.Its a shame

  7. Development in Chipata no longer surprises me. The guy in power is a pure advocate of nepotism. I wonder why Zambia always comes up with sub-standard presidents (except Mwanawasa). Its now even very clear which tribes can produce the best presidents in Zambia but these tribes are normally maligned & tagged tribal. Anyway we shall make do with these looters & plunderers. What do we do, they out# us & most of them are too dull to realise that we need an intellectual to lead the country.

  8. # At 6 I totally agree with you. Chiluba is being blamed for not having taken development to Luapula. Rusangu village where he comes from still looks like a slum.

  9. #1 & 5, This is too little information to make blanket conclusions. Ask the relevant Permanent Secretaries of other provinces to find out what is being spent there and on what projects. For example, government expenditure in Western province may be highest due to the Mongu-Kalabo road. Why do PF have such hare brains and small minds?

  10. @10, learn to debate issues with facts.Who told you that Mongu -Kalabo Road has been funded.Go there and see for your self if there is any progress or if the contractor has moved on site.
Our observations about development is eastern province are supported by facts on the ground.I gave you an example of how Dora was tasked to explain why so many schools where built in Eastern Prov but failed to convince us and now you have this project. For your information a huge sum was also allocated to construction of Lundazi-Chipata road.

  11. me i just wonder the money spent on development projects like 6 billion kwacha where can it go mwe bantu for the whole eastern province and u want to spend the same kind of money on chiluba’s funeral.me i dont understand.the same amount of money spent on one dead man’s funeral equals the money for the whole province? where are our priorities mwe bantu

  12. Could this be the reason why the Barotse youth wanted their province to go solo? Isnt it the reason why the Kaponyas want Sata to be President at all costs? Now they are even suggesting that if not Sata (due to his alleged illness) then Mutati! Meantime RB is developing his home province! I remember him in 1978 when he did away with the list of civil servants on the waiting list for diplomatic postings and replaced them with Easterners. The late Kafupi was more interested in taking development to the individual Northerners and luapulans and not the provinces. It could be cultural with our departed friend i.e the wealth of one Northerner and Luapulan is the wealth of all (classical trickle down). RIP Kafupi! One Zambia One Nation! Lick my posterior opening!

  13. Whats with calling the Banda on nepotism on this same page under the article their links to other developments around the country that RB`s government is sponsoring, though I still feel like 6 Billion yachepa a province should be looking at $10million est 50 billion kwacha.
P.S I hope namukwata ama lifeboat nama Life jacket Sata`s Titanic seems to hit more Ice Bergs than any known ship.

  14. Hahahaha, you PF noisemakers never cease to amaze me.

  15. Is Eastern Province the next capital ?Let the national cake be shared equaly what about towns like Kapiri,Zimba chibombo etc If we want to prove we are developing rural areas.

  16. its always EASTERN PROVINCE ,NORTHERN,COPPERBELT.WAT ABOUT SOUTHERN PROVINCE?IS IT NOT PART OF ZAMBIA ?COME ON U VE TO BALANCE

  17. Never mind the amount, Im more concerned about the recovery rate!! At 38% it is just a matter 9f (short) time before the fund is depleted. What the CEEC should have done is partner with Financial institutions like Banks and MFIs and provide the funds as wholesale funds for them to on-lend. They surely would be able to assess credit risk better and ensure that the loans are collected. There would even be less chances of corruption and nepotism and you will expect that the banks will act more professionally than the CEEC management. World over that is how goverment is stimulating economic growth by providing credit not directly but through partnernships and guranttee funds.
