Citizens Forum executive secretary Simon Kabanda has expressed disappointment at the exchange of words between Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo and Republican President Rupiah Banda in the media.
Mr. Kabanda says it is disappointing that leaders can spend time on personal attacks against each at the expense of addressing issues affecting the Zambian people.
Mr. Kabanda says national leaders are expected to spend time talking about how they intend to reach out to the many suffering Zambians.
He says the differences Ms. Masebo has with President Banda will not provide an income to the many youths suffering in the country.
Mr. Kabanda has since urged politicians against being personal as they sell their manifestos to the Zambian people.
He says Zambians want politicians who will deliver development, not those who thrive on character assassination of others.
And the United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused republican President Rupiah Banda of not committing to dialogue ahead of the forthcoming tripartite elections.
UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma says it will be very difficult to resolve post election disputes this year if stakeholders are not willing to embrace dialogue.
Mr. Kakoma has told Qfm that dialogue is the only solution to problems pertaining to elections adding that his party supports the move by the church to hold an indaba for political leaders to iron out differences that arise during elections.
He says it is unfortunate that ever since President Banda assumed office in 2008, he has not taken a step to promote dialogue among political stakeholders in the country.
Mr. Kakoma who is also Zambezi West Member of Parliament has since urged political parties in the country to engage in constructive dialogue in the run up to the polls.
Various stakeholders have been calling on political players in the country to embrace dialogue in order to resolve differences in the political arena.

Kabanda is not a sincere man. So not the best person to get any sort of advice. The spark is only in the mind of Malupenga to steer some impression of a public altercation involving the President. Clearly, RB is well above such pettiness, there is nothing for him to gain.
Masebo, on the other hand, is too compromised with her boy friend (Malupenga) of the Post and should not be trusted at all. When it is all clear that Malupenga’s wife does not trust her, why should we? An immoral and compromised woman deserves no respect.
More so insults coming from the President than from a former cabinet Minister! Unfortunately, RB has a bad record when it comes to women: 1. He was chewing his best friend’s daughter (surname ending in “twe”) and wanted to marry her- his friend was furious! 2. He is a well know (mulye mulye) would chew even his girlfriend’s best friend or daughter!. 3. He would even chew his (blood) cousin (one of them is in the Embassy in Moz)! 4. Marrying a girl who is 3 times younger than him doesn’t help! 5. He is still a very virile man, whose potency is show by having twins late in life!
The kind of impression that Malupenga wants to create is the same that goes on between his wife (Mrs Malupenga) and his girl fiend (friend?) (Silvia). Let Mrs Malupenga meet her rival, it is ever a cat fight. Keep RB out of that nonsense Malupenga!

United States of America Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella has urged candidates contesting this year’s general elections to focus on issue based campaigns as opposed to character assassination against their opponents.
Ambassador Storella said the electorate should ensure that political candidates tell the people what they are going to do to improve their livelihoods if voted into office.
He said candidates should be gauged on account of their vision for the people in terms of delivering key services such as infrastructure, health and employment, among others.
Ambassador Storella said in this case, the media has a critical role to play in ensuring that the electorate are guided on who to vote into office, based on the candidates’ future vision for the country.

What Kakoma is talking about if the fact that the church has proposed that there should be some dialogue before the elections, to at least try and level the playing field. That is not crying for dialogue, it has a lot of sense in it sir.
