Former MMD chairperson for elections Mike Mulongoti says the adopted MMD parliamentary candidates in Lusaka have guaranteed the opposition outright victory.

Mr. Mulongoti says the MMD adopted candidates have an uphill battle to convince the people to vote for them.

He describes some of the adopted parliamentary candidates as walkovers incapable of winning an election.

Mr. Mulongoti has further questioned Luapula Member of Parliament Peter Machungwa’s decision to vie for the Kabwata seat instead of re-contesting his Luapula seat.

In an interview with QFM, Mr. Mulongoti, who recently endorsed the candidature of Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata, say Dr Machungwa’s decision is an indication stated that he neglected people of Luapula Province.

Meanwhile, the opposition Patriotic Front has started interviews for the selection of parliamentary and local Government candidates for the forthcoming general elections.

PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has confirmed the development to ZNBC news in Lusaka.

The provincial interviews follow the conclusion of the selection process at constituency and district levels.

Mr Kabimba says the Central Committee ,which is the highest party organ will meet to look at the recommendations from Constituencies, Districts and Provinces once interviews of aspiring candidates have been concluded.

On Monday Mr Kabimba said the adoption process of candidates for the parliamentary and local government election is expected to be concluded by this month end.

  1. This is a the end of peter ma oranges political career baba you cant match Given za yellow Ludinda you will regret leaving PF.

  2. Indeed that is 100% walkover.how majory mwape can stand in lusaka instead of mufulira where she was the earlier mp…viva opposition viva PF\:d/

  3. I gree with this twit for now but there is one interesting equation i have sen on ZWD. It is like this MMD+UNIP=PF,UNIP+PF=MMD,PF+MMD=UNIP. If you want change, then vote out of this equation. I am very suprised with MMD candidates. Most of them are recycled. Doeas it mean that in Zambia there are only a few pipo who can be in gvt?. Is being in gvt a personal to holder? Can the next parliament pass a law that prohibits political prostitution we normaly witnes when ever we have an election.

  4. Lusaka will be indeed a walkover for the PF. Lusaka,C/B are no-go areas for MMD even RB standing as councilor can lose.

  5. #5 I like your equation the only part you forgot was that UPND is equals to Tongas and that you are also Tonga.

  6. It is not in doubt that those standing in Lusaka against the PF are going to have an uphill battle. However, we expect RB to come out a strong second, about 32% to 35%. If he archives that in Lusaka, he is as good as re elected.

    • Eastern province is also tricky as the opposition PF is likely to pick two or three seats especially Chipata Central and Luangeni depending on how they play their cards well.

  7. Marjory Mwape for Munali. I thought she was Marjory Masiye. Could be she also ditched Mr. Masiye together with the PF. Good luck ka Mayo. Muleya uno mwaka!

  8. I wish I had applied on PF ticket to stand against Marjory Mwape in Munali. Even the ditching of the husband’s name will not help ka Gelo ka pa Mafukeni. Ulenyankulwa ka mayo!

  9. Some people can be silly. #9 why do you always want to bring in this tribal nonsense all the time. What has UPND got to do with this article or indeed #5 comments. Is it a sin to be Tonga or what? It so sickening, shallow minded people.

  10. #5. Please be reminded that politics is a career. Whoever, thinks otherwise is a fo0l. You only retire if you have been a president and you have done your two terms or not been re elected after your first term. The constitution is clear there. Even in England or America, law makers have been there for more than 30 years. It is their career just like Accountants or bankers will work for 30 years and even after that go into consultancy in their area of speciality. Did you apply and you were not adopted?

  11. Its funny that these PF Rebels can not see that they are being used as scapegoats for standing in Lsk so that they can be kicked out of the party. Its going to be interesting to listen to their reasons for not re-contesting in their former constituencies after all they took development there! Its only a blind dumb and deaf man who will vote for them… It doesnt getting any worse for their traitorous behavior

  12. Political crosstitutes have no morals.
Time to remove the deadwood accumulated in Zambian politics this year.
Vote for REAL CHANGE and not leftovers from MMD who have ruined Zambia for 20 years in government and opposition.
Who is paying for Mike’s two phones these days?

  13. Mulongoti looks desperate,I wonder if he pretty much regrets his decission to leave MMD.

He comes out with random worrying statement, talk about exhibition of arrogance.

He looks lost politically at the moment, If he was here in Glasgow I would insist he seeks medical help

    Poor Man

    Thanks

  14. #5 great equations, #9 good observation although not entirely accurate but I must say 99.5% there, #15 the truth most times is bitter but it still remains the truth.

  15. # 24,You should look at the facts partaining to his statements.Machungwa is a walkover for kabwata baba.We live in kabwata and he wont get anywhere with the likes of Given Lubinda,he has given Given as his name suggests a very easy job and that entells him dealing with other national matters as opposed to Kabwata issues.

  16. one interesting equation i have sen on ZWD. It is like this MMD+UNIP=PF,UNIP+PF=MMD,PF+MMD=UNIP,UPND+HH=TONGAS
    THEREFORE 2011 ELECTION =DONCHI KUBEBA

  17. MR KABIMBA PLEASE BA SIMUSA WILBER SHOULD BE REPLACED OR ELSE PEOPLE WILL VOTE FOR ANOTHER PARTY.

  18. mulongoti on the political sidelines. now only left to make running commentries about events in his former party where he used his position to his own disadvantage by making as many enemies as possible. now he has no friends left.

  19. Mike Mulongoti likes gate crushing. Let him stand in Lamba land we see. The guy is just born arrongance. Even pre-school teachers at a school where he has his kids complain alot about Mike. Has he got big sons? I wonder. Chitala, Mpombo and Mike are retiring with SATA this year.

  20. Mulongoto slow down and wait for PF candidates. Imagine Steven Manjata for Luampa on PF ticket. Rubbish. Mumbi Phiri, Jean Kapata, Willie Nsanda not standing in Chimwemwe sure..

Early bird catches the worm. Nafuti Nafuti MMD..MMD..MMD

  21. all i can say to you bloggers and your bandit mulongoti, carry on underestimating the MMD. When the results come out you chaps better be ready to accept.

  22. people lets get serious with life, mulongoti is an opportunist and has no alternative to our problems, even if he was to stand with a frog i wouldn’t waist my vote on him.

  23. Ba “Nashala Neka Ben Katanga Mwila” was last week in the papers condemning Masebo for being a political prostitute. Now I wonder what he has to say for himself, abandoning his own party scampering back to the MMD, what a shameful acrobatic.

  24. It really looks like the MMD is fixing these rebel MPs for neglecting their constituencies in favour of receiving allowances at the NCC. This is time for reckoning, how can Peter Machungwa who has nothing to do with Kabwata win in Kabwata? Is it by the unfinished 1 kilometre tarmac from St. Patricks or by the pailed red rubble on the road going through to ZAF training college? I really wonder!
The situation is the same for the Majory girl, she is in big trouble with Mumbi Phiri. Anyway, let’s wait and see!

  25. himpipo, am delighted to hear that Dr Ma Oranges will contest the Kabwata Seat. Am seeing amoranges been betten to death by Hon Lubinda, i think this is the end of Machungwa’s political career. sory its nt my will but your choice to shoose a loosing party

  26. On “Mr. Mulongoti has further questioned Luapula Member of Parliament Peter Machungwa’s decision to vie for the Kabwata seat instead of re-contesting his Luapula seat” I am wondering why Mr Mulongoti can question the decision of an Honourable MP because Dr Machungwa is a very seasoned politician who does politics for the interest of the Nation.

Dr Machungwa has shown that he is not interested in tribal politics by deciding to contest for MP far from his home village.

I therefore hope that PF’s Mr Mulongoti will not continue with his work of encouraging regional politics because Zambia is for all of us Zambians ad each Zambian is free from contesting any MP seat anywhere in the country.

    Be blest all.

    Matt 6:33

  27. Mr Mulongoti Sir you are one of those to get rude shock this election year.Ultimately MMD will carry the day.Your PF will massively disintegrate by election year 2016.Hard luck

  28. Champ,
you have the gene of the son in the Bible who saw the parent’s nakedness and was cursed and went to live with that curse hence turning into a condemned breed which cherishes in violence and hatred like some of the Rwanda genocide architects and some muslims who believe that all Christians are embeciles not worth living.
God is not foolish to have created man in his own image. If i was like you i was going to tell you to go to hell, but because you are in the image of God though condemned(going by your hate blood) i leave it to God.

  29. #25 what is truth about what #9 has said? Be real and mature. No wonder we shall keep wallowing in poverty. Can’t see beyond ones nose. We are in the 21st century. It is very true also to say that Sata + his kaponyas = Bemba which is absolutely normal. If one is rejected by his own poeple then such a one does not deserve to be trusted by anyone else. Banda is supported by the whole eastern province but I guess that is patriotism but for HH it is tribalism. What a shame, self centredness.

  30. Mulongoti is steaming frustration. The MMD has demonstrated leadership in its administration of democratic processes. The Party held a non-controversial Convention and executed a transparent process of selecting its MPs. Mulongoti should just assist Sata to come up with a credible team of its own parliamentary candidates to challenge the MMD. Zambians are yet to witness confusion in the PF. Besides, which constituency will Mulongoti contest to reflect his popularity? We can only speculate that Machungwa is much brighter than Lubinda; and that Guy Scott the skinhead is not as sharp as Muhabi Lungu. Latest resignations of Mwape and Major Chibamba from PF have instilled fear and mental stress in the camps of the PF, the Post and the likes oftheir known cadre, Musa Mwenye.

  31. i agree with mulongoti 100%.thankyou ba banda’s mmd’ for making our campaign job easier in lusaka’s kabwata and munali consts.

  32. Have you seen how RB has adopted alot of wako ni wako MP’s?just look at Lusaka adoptions.PF will surely have an easy win this. Its PF in power after votes closes.

  33. Mimi you are right.these cadres wl b shocked afta o they dönt hav voters cards. bakapönya imwe.prepare 4 a stroke.

  34. I ahve an easy Job over Dr Canisius Banda. I have worked in Mandevu clinics. He has never worked there. I am MP and he is a Doctor. So Doctor Vs Nurse, I have hands on pateints and he is a consultant.. Interesting Battle. I will start by firing at him on what he has done?

  35. The move by MMD to bring Peter Machungwa to Kabwata is a smart one. Peter Machungwa was a PF leader of the house with very strong political foundation as former cabinet minister and an achitect of MMD. His calmness and personal intellect are miles apart to that Given Lubinda or any other individual PF can come up with. As PF is strong in Lusaka generally, MMD needed a heavy weight like Machungwa to sink the PF boat in Kabwata in order rock the entire party to its foundation.Personally I could not think of a more appropriate candidate for the Kabwata challenge. Good choice MMD. Lubinda must be shitting himself right now !

  36. Another wise move is the adoption of Mkhondo Lungu fully integrating him into the MMD party ranks. As a seasoned civil servant, Lungu is an important individual to have in the party. He will bring a safe pair of hands to stabilise the MMD base in Eastern province like he single handedly did with his UNIP seat. Now with the backing of a strong armoury of the MMD resources, people like Lameck Mangani will condemn themselves to eternal irrelevance. Look out for this interesting eastern battle field.

  37. #52 that is a good analysis and i wished people voted for individuals. But people vote for political parties.

  38. I agree with 52. I think bringing Peter Ma Orange to Kabwata is more a question of reducing the gap in the PF strongholds. Same as taking Dr.Canisius Banda to Mandevu. Granted, these 2 gentleman can not win the seats but will considerably narrow the gap btwn PF and MMD.

  39. BY Mwila welcome home, Nchelenge constituency is BY’s personal Jacket. It does not matter where he goes or which party ticket he stands on, he will still take Nchelenge with him. No one living today can remove that jacket off him. Then why not have him back since he is also one hell of a loyal member.. anyway sort of. For some of these people it simply feels natural to go back where they belong-MMD. It is also a tribute of a highest symbolic value to his late Cousin Dr FTJ Chiluba who would have loved to see him not split the vote for RB. MHSRP we will forever miss you.

  40. If Heritage party president Godfrey Miyanda was not a power hungry beast, this would have been the best opportunity to come back to front-line politics in the real sense, not the so called the ‘presidency of the lone party’. The man is a good communicator who would be invaluable to any political party, but trouble is no would want him near by as his eye is always looking to the top. My advise to him is that you can have all the knowledge in the world and the very best ways of expressing your ideas, but you sholud also learn to accept that sometimes even people you consider ‘not as smart as you’ can be your superiors. Unfortunately that is the disease Miyanda has failed to find the cure for.

  41. Marjory winning Munali….now that is the miracle am yet to witness……… MMD RB and NEC are playing “aka ledi na ka bulaki” this is the absolute down fall of MMD………….. foolishly showing your list, yes democratically has crippled MMD now………VIVA PF if State house will be looking at this list and thinking they are winning……..then you have not utilised our INTELLENGENCY as the sitting President…yaba

  42. Why this tribal cheap politics guys…I don’t care if your party’s headquarters is in Mongu, Monze or Sinda what matters is kicking out that dull fat buffoon we call President currently residing in State House.

  43. Nafuti, Nafuti Viva PF. Yaba ba machungwa chapwa kwasila end of his political career in Kabwata teti. Nafuti Nafuti pa Maka

  44. if mulongoti did not endorse bwana sata, i may have given him half an ear. but for someone to endorse a character with such a bad life record as sata, he has to be one of the plunderers that are regrouping in pf.

  45. Fellow Zambians, Machungwa is one of the independent thinkers we have around, not because he was my lecturer at UNZA but you have a lot of sensible contributions he has made during parliamentary debates. Please people don’t agree with Mulongoti, three months ago he was in the forefront saying MMD was a solid party now that he is wounded he says it will be a walk over. He left MMD and so he has no business telling MMD who they should feature and where. He is in a donchi kubeba team why is he trying to tell them that they made a mistake? He is just sad because he made a wrong call, he’s wishing his name was on the list sorry it’s too late; leave them alone just go and plan how to beat them if at all you can!!!!

  46. kubwata bwata ba pf. why don’t you concentrate on finalising your list of candidates? seeing how the no-ballot pf national “convention” was conducted, i am sure the pf would have preferred mr sata to just appoint the members of parliament as voting is not their culture….kikikikikikiki heheheheheheh, batu ba!

  47. ANALYSIS WILL BE DONE UPON RECEIVING NAMES FROM OTHER PARTIES. SO FAR OPPOSITION IS SHAKING. MIND YOU FIRST IS THE PARTY SECOND A PERSON.. VIVA RB WAIT FOR EASY ROAD TO SECOND TERM. YOU NEED 1ND HALF TERM AFTER ALL.
BEST WISHES MY DEAR YOU HAVE PERFORMED MIRACLES GOD BE WITH YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN…

  48. its a gud list across the country but most of these are seasoned politician,i like freshman like NICHOLAS BANDA.MAHABI LUNGU but i doubt if they will win.PF has to play the WEAKEST LINK GAME and feild their candidate based on it ,they will have more than 120 MPS even if RB is to win he will face the hell of his leadership which in tern will force him to resign and SATA will take over as president.

  49. Payvuma kaloba is a jalabo who can not be given a mandate to represent people in parliament they abused with his sibling in wusakile. to day they want to be there leader and gung rape the women more. leadership is about love and passionate which this guy and his sibling they do not have. They are leaders of Jalabos in Kitwe who should not even be seen in the corridor of power because it will be abused. They do not fear anything now how about if they have one of them in the parliament it will be worse. wusakile say no to jalabo leadership

  50. Zambian Politics are too regionalised to start taking of who will win where. The problem with PF is that they are over confident. This is not a football match between Barcelona and Luena Buffaloes,This is politics and Politics is a tricky game.Remember Chiluba (MHSRIP) sold us houses @ K10,000 yet we rejected his third term outrightly. You are crying for election date and yet you have not even prepared your candidates. You are specialists in insults becauser of your Kaponya and fikaisova mentality.SHAME ON YOU!

  51. # 73 CB is a lamba privince of Barotseland and that is the reason why your chiefs pay royalties to the great Litunga and under PF you will pay more.

  52. i cant wait to look at the elections resu;ts please RB announce the election date, natwishiba nimu August.

  53. Peter Machungwa vs Given Lubinda???? Am I dreaming??? RB want to finsih the rebel MP’s so that they dont talk no more. RB is effectively shutting off FTJ’s spokesmen so that they never rise up again to talk for him. He has fielded them where they cannot win. Thanks RB for giving us walkovers so soon. Thank you RB.

  54. Haa this man who failed to run a four bedroom house in the name of a lodge is at it again..he really has laid out his coffin..in which he will lie….but PF are not fools he is mole for MMD and he thinks we dont know that him and Derrick met MMD at night to ‘squeal’ whatever the leadership says…a political chalatan this with chichanery…

  55. Yes I agree with No. 21 Professor Luo should stand on PF ticket, she is a woman of substance. she will carry the day.

  56. The list of adopted MMD aspirants has been labelled as the winning team in Daily Mail but of concern to advocates of educated politicians is the number of Diploma holders. The number of degree holders i think is not more than 20 on that list. Where are all graduates who keep saying that our counrty is full of recycled politicians?

  57. Why are we hypocrites? Simply because it is far easier to condemn others than to live up to our ideals. But let’s work together to make a better world by striving after our principles without condemning others. How do we do that? We start by learning how to forgive ourselves for the times we stumble and go astray. For it is only after learning how to forgive ourselves that we will be able to forgive others. And once we forgive others, we will cease condemning them.

Abe Lincoln may have suffered from depression, but he retained a sense of humor. Here is one of the jokes he loved, “A hypocrite murdered both his parents. When charged with the crime, he pleaded for mercy on the grounds that he was an orphan.

  58. Yes PF may will have an upper hand as usual in certain areas like Lusaka, Copper belt Luapua and Nothern. And in all these areas MMD does not loose copmletely. Now for Sata, the entire Southern, he has no support while will get a lot of votes for that matter. Northwestern Sata again will trail almost zero vote. Eastern siokamba. Central Sata will just win in Kabwe and this time around they will share the votes with Hakainde. So chances of sata carrying the day very small.

  59. Political prostitutes, just wait for the Erection day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Haha ha

  60. ‘WALK OVER’ CANDIDATES IN MMD……..THOSE ARE WHAT ARE REFERRED TO AS ‘EXPENDABLE’ SOLDIERS IN THE ARMY………FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE TO TEST THE STRENGTH OF THE ENEMY………IMAGINE, MACHUNGWA TO STAND IN KABWATA AGAINST GIVEN LUBINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……NI BYE, BYE POLIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  61. iwe ka Mike..you are just a lazy imbecile who never wants to work for yourself..get out !what easy walk over..?

  62. Mike Mulongoti u are just waisting your time to talk about MMD think of your self you failed to deliver to the Zambian pipo when you were a minister. nifyofine balatamfya nga wachilamo ifitala. you were fired so chalikukalipa. job seeker.

  63. ya ya ,ba mmd balimumaloto! Ni kuyabebele…4 the sake of change pf,upnd…tuleya baney! Change is inevitable! Ba machungwa, its tym 2 rest,u stole enuf n u live lyk a king, jus retire quietly n dont embaras urself! Iyeh from luapula 2 lusaka!dats xtreme desparado!

  64. It will be suicidal for the likes of Mike Mulongoti to term the MMD lineup as a WALKOVER. Some of their candidates are crediable and hold firm in their various constituences. The opposition should not be deceived that they will scoop all the 150 seats. The chances are 50:50. Mike watchout we are tired of this nonsense of under rating the strength of MMD though I am not a supporter of the ruling party. Its advisable to rest the strength of your opponent you never know what he has in his arsenal. Dr. Petr Matoka some twenty years back underated late John “Wine” Mususu Kalenga in Mwinilunga West Constituency but he was knocked off the ploitical platform hands down. People change their mind at the last moment. In Zambia there is alot of insults and character assasination among stakeholders.

  65. We’re a bunch of volunteers and starting a new scheme in our community. Your web site provided us with valuable information to paintings on. You’ve performed a formidable task and our whole neighborhood might be thankful to you.
