Sata asked to challenge Chief Chikuwe and prove that President Banda lied about his roots

Provincial Chairperson Kennedy Zulu (L) with President Rupiah Banda

The ruling Movement for Mult-Party Democracy (MMD) in Eastern Province has called on Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata to go and challenge Chief Chikuwe of the Chewe people in Chipata district to authenticate President Rupiah Banda’s origin.

Provincial Chairperson Kennedy Zulu said Mr Sata should go and challenge Chief Chikuwe and prove that President Banda lied about his roots.

Mr Zulu said President Banda is one of Chief Chikuwe’s subjects and the PF leader should go and verify with him to prove if he is liar as there is enough evidence to show that the President is Zambian.

He said Mr Sata contradicted himself when he said that Nyimba people were denied fertilizer by their own relative and later said President Banda was either from Zimbabwe or Malawi.

However, villagers in Chief Chikuwe area have described Mr Sata’s allegations as an act of a desperate politician who has run out of ideas.

Mr. Sata was quoted in the Sunday Post as having said that President Banda lied about his roots.
.
One the concerned villager Masiye Banda who is also headman Kanfuwe said politicians should not fabricate stories but tell the people the truth to allow electorates make informed decision.

The Village headman told ZANIS that President is a Chewa whose father was born in his village.

Yesterday, the PF leader Michael Sata alleged that President Rupiah Banda lied about his nationality.

  1. Why is it that every candidate including Sata himself have foreign tags attached to them at election time? I cannot understand this fickleness about Zambians. This madness needs to end so that we can focus on real issues for once. Worst of all, it looks like relatives seem to thrive on this useless cheap habit. This whole RB issue started with PHD (pull him down) Phiri who may actually be RB’s relative and this ties nicely with how bwana Kavindele summed this whole charade nicely a few days back. We are a sick society to say the least. Sick, sick, sick!!!

  2. It is not for Sata to prove, the challenge was made by one of RBish’s former diplomats, so Sata has better things to do, than those who have to prove their roots ( pay as many of your little chiefs that you want – as Dangote has stuffed you with dosh!!!)

    • Here are some white leather beds to have a look at a3329 a3289 a3399Dust and muck does show up more esaily on white, so it will require a little more cleaning you can order them online at the above links, but delivery will cost you a320-30.

  3. Given the fact that the people of E province are closely related to those of Malawi, does it make sense to try and win votes from them by putting down Malawi and Malawians? In all likelihood, perhaps as many as 50% of the people Sata was addressing in E province  have some sort of Malawian connection. And this man is supposed to be a strategic thinker! Seems to me to be a text book case of how to alienate and infuriate people.

  4. Sata should be ignored by all serious zambians,he is a buffon and a zombie.R B will win come 20th September.

  5. This is a no brainer. Can the incumbent president exhibit maturity in how he answers to every small character assassination rant that the opposition say about him. By answering to such you’re encourage Sata to continue about this non-starter of a story. What issues are you putting for us on the table so that we can vote for you.

  6. The onus is not on Sata to challenge whichever chief MMD will throw into this issue with a brown envelope, but for rupiah to prove the challenge wrong.
He has not done that, so it is assumed he has no convincing reasons to dispel the assertions for good.
Therefore, the issue will linger on for as long as rupiah is around…

  7. Is the best of Sata? Surely Sata should know by now that RB is as much a Zambian as say Guy Scott, Given Lubinda and Sata himself.

This cheap talk from Sata will not disqualify RB from being a candidate. Whether Sata likes it or not RB is standing.

What we want to hear is what his party will do differently from the MMD if they form government. How will PF put more money in our pockets.

  8. PF should stop character assassination. I have never seen any party engage in disgusting, unjustified character assassination as I have seen in PF. PF should tell the people what they intend to do for Zambia. PF has got no vision, no ideas, no policy and thrives on character assassination and insults and that is why they are losing for the 4th time.

MMD is building the Zambia of tomorrow so you either move forward with MMD or move backwards with PF. The Zambian people want development and would like to build the Zambia of tomorrow and that is why the Zambian people are moving forward with MMD.

    NAFUTI NAFUTI.

  9. #8..
The point here is the legality of his candidacy. Is he in compliancy with the provisions of the constitution? so far it is doubtful that rupiah provided the correct info.
As someone occupying the highest office in the land and seeking re-election, he has to come clean and abide by the law just like all candidates

  10. I have just come back from Sata’s village in Tz. They said that when he fails to become the Zambian president yet again, he can come and try his abbracadabra more money in your pocket on them as charity begins at home.

  11. Was this 1diot suggesting that people in Nyimba (‘banda’s relatives’ according to him) are also malawian and not Zambian? I think he needs to apologise….

  12. Parentage? Only Barotseland would have worthy records! The rest of Zambia was fought for by aliens and foreigners while the so called “real” Zambian remained docile and to date is still docile! Just put aside this RB parentage debate which everyone knows will get nowhere! Watch it next we will have one whose origins will most likely be Angola!

  13. #10 . Let Sata prove to us that RB is not a Zambian legally. This tavern talk just goes to show Sata has nothing tangible to offer.

RB was appointed VP by the late President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, SC after being cleared investigative wings of our State Security. Sata is always claiming to know people very well. When did Sata know that RB is not a Zambian? Why did he at that time not report this to the Police? There’s nothing legal about Sata’s waffling.

  14. Mr Sata is playing very dangerous tribal politics that should not be entertained in Zambia. To say ‘your own relative took away fertiliser’ which ‘a Lamba gave you’ is tribalism. In actual fact, Chewas or Ngonis are just as different from the Nsengas as from Lambas. Politics of tribe calling in Zambia ended in 1964 imwe ba Sata pulizi! No one ever heard Kaunda say ‘this Bemba or that Lozi or that Tonga’ but why should we be relating to each other on that basis? This clearly shows that Mr Sata is not ready to be President. There was nothing wrong in questioning the truth of RB’s origin, but this has now been settled so give over!

  15. #15, Saint, you are spot on. Sata sounded like he views the tribe in people more than anything else. A lamba did what not, a chewa did not do bla, you nsengas need….so me a bemba…….please, one wonders, is it really hard for him to address the masses as Zambians without seing their tribe first?

  16. king cobra is a bully…and thats all he will offer threats and intimidation and believe me this f.o.o.l once elected, to him it will mean life president..another zimbabwean problem will be born in zambia..the pact with HH says it all and i think its time for the old guard to go away at least RB can be the last of these camouflaged UNIPIST.

  17. Mr Sata, the time for comedy is long gone, you are supposed to be campaigning now. For the avoidance of doubt, campaigning in this case means selling yourself to the electorate, telling them what you will do for them once elected. Or have you lost interest in the Presidency so early?

  18. This is only the beginning of  campaigning and already Satan has resorted to this dud of an issue? Already bereft of ideas on how to move the country forward at this early stage, and this is supposed to be the ‘man of action’?

  19. U morons MMD,let yo BIG FOOL RB DEFENDS HIMSELF, DOESNT HE HAV THE MOUTH? Y CHALLENGIN YO FELLOW MMD CARDER U KO CHIEF.BUSHIT

  20. In all fairness the credit for all this “Parentage No.nse.ns.e” should go to the MMD dead Political Engineer, one FJT Chiluba. The MMD started, encouraged, perfected the art, and thrived on this c.r.a.p! So Rupiah Banda is simply reaping the fruits of his dead political advisers’ myopic kind of politics. So ba MMD just enjoy the ride, it was all fun and games when the shoe was on the other other foot, yeah?!

As for tribalism, I completely agree with @THE SAINT!!

  21. This is nonsense by one Satan. Rupiah is Zambian. I started hearing about Rupiah Banda a long time ago when i was based in Munali constituency as a small boy then. I used to read during campaign periods posters reading VOTE FOR RUPIAH BWEZANI BANDA. Now for some people to claim that he is not Zambian is absurd. Let focus on real issues affecting the welfare our people not on pety issues like my wife is more beaultiful than Dora Siliya. How can a presidential aspiring candidate utter such nonsense at a public rally. And people are going to vote for such a fool!!!!!!!!! No wonder i always say only a f.o.o.l can vote for sata.

    • Its is not his citizenship that is in question but the citizenship of his parents. He is Zambian but are both his parents Zambian?. This clause was unfortunately brought by FTJ to fix Kaundu and it is catching up on Bwezani

  22. my wife is more beautiful than Dora; mrs sata wake yena! just google her birthday photo kissing this serpent and you will need the sick! yuck!

  23. I did not want to comment on this issue but statements being made out by some bloggers have forced me to. They say it is for RB to prove that he is Zambian. Don’t you guys know a simple rule in law that “HE WHO ALLEGES MUST PROVE” simply meaning in this matter that the onus is on Mr Sata (Who to me is a Tanzanian) to adduce evidence to support his claim. Other than that this story is a waste of time and space

  24. Sata should not question the origin of anybody. If anything, let him explain his origin first. It is an open secret that his father came from Tanzania. His father left Tanzania for good a very long time ago and settled in Mpika permanently. Now,whats wrong about this?Mr Sata Senior who happens to be Headman Chitulika is as Zambian as anybody else.Look at our great man DENNIS LIWEWE!This man does not even hide,he is so open about his Malawian origin. Now who woulg say Dennis is not a Zambian! Unless a fool.In fact,Dennis has done Zambia proud more than most of us who claim to be more Zambian. Please, grow up.

  25. Its is not his citizenship that is in question but the citizenship of his parents. He is Zambian but are both his parents Zambian?. This clause was unfortunately brought by FTJ his adviser to fix Kaundu and it is catching up on Bwezani.

  26. Number 8 should not shift the burden of proof to an accused person.Sata like other surrogates of his have accused RB of not being Zambian. So let them produce evidence to back their claim.Demonising village headmen and the Chief where RB’s father was born will not work.As for RB,he has not hidden the fact that he was born in Zimbabwe.
Finally people of Eastern Province particularly those from Lundazi,Chama,Chipata,Katete and Chadiza will not take it kindly if Sata continues to falsely accuse Malawians because the majority of these villagers have relatives in Malawi.

  27. This is a none issue. I very much doubt if Mr. Newton Phiri will be able to bring his witnesses who knew the origins of Mr. Bwezani senior to prove his claim. Landeniko fimbi!
