President Rupiah Banda is on Monday August 8, 2011 scheduled to commission the newly constructed K40 billion ultramodern Lusaka General Hospital.

President Banda will commission the facility situated near Chainama Hospital, off the Great East Road.

This is according to a notice by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to all members of the Diplomatic, Trade and Consular Missions and International Organisations accredited to Zambia.

Since his election in 2008, President Banda has prioritized infrastructure development in various sectors of the economy including health, education, roads among others.

  1. RB President of all Zambians and his issues based politics nafuti nafuti delivering unprecedented National development. More schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, bumper harvests, food security, exchange rate stability, investments and property ownership.

  2. Forthcoming mandate for RB means more than of these dividends to all Zambians. This is why every patriot except Kaponyas is pledging RB Nafuti nafuti ukuteka namano.

  3. While PF id fight court battles on Monday RB is opening a hospital….
    I foresee a mother of all defeats…
I think Sata knows it all he his no fool.
Mwaitaya be PF….. you just passed RB the winning score   4:0

  4. LAST TIME DEVELOPMENT IS CORUPTION AND A THREAT TO GENUINE DEMOCRACY!!!. only those who are short sighted, who only think of today, will take these actions by RB as genuine. otherwise 4 all sensible zambians Ni DONCHI KUBEBA!!!

  5. Another mwanawase project. No amount of tricks with last minute showoffs will make us forget that for 20 yrs and all MMD can show is a more than 80% unemployment record, manda hill, ardcades and this empty clinic be passed as “ultra mordern…”. Sorry RB Zambians are tired of suffering while our country produces millions of dollars worth of minerals.

  6. #6.witness! can you educate me on whose party was mwanawasa made president and for how many years was he elected?

    > then whose term was RB completing? his own or mwanawasa’s term?
    > did you expect him to cancel all that mwanawasa started and start his own like what FJT did to KK?? is that continuity?
    > on whose party did RB become president?
    > was mwanawasa implementing his own programs or was following a five year mmd manifesto?
    > was RB not bound to complete the remaing 3 od the 5 years manifesto programs??

Please let us comment and debate with objectivity and above politics if we are to develop this country.

  7. At long last Lusaka Province will have a second level hospital of its own. Remember that Lusakans used to come from health centres straight to the 3rd level hospital an issue which is not supposed to be. Referral system demands that a person moves fron a health centre to the district hopsital (ist level hospital) to provincial hospital ( 2nd level hospital) and finaly to UTH ( 3rd level Hospital). Just a a year ago RB upgraded 5 health centres to districh hospital status. All that I can say is ” Congratulations to MMD and RB in particular and also to Simbao who was a Minister of Health. Simbao is hard working no wonder he found himself in the cabinet of RB.

  8. No  5 and 6Former US President Richard Nixon once said the biggest skill in politics is timing.Thats the biggest skill SATA lacks. The timing of the court case just passed the winning goal to RBMMD does not need to show you projects for 20 years… you are misunderstanding politics. Its all about timing. Thats why Obama ordered the killing of Osama at a particular time not any other. Thats why Bush went to war in Iraq and Afg at a particular time. Politics is not a science its an art. The art to win. Unfortunately Bwana Sata does not have it.MMD 4 : PF 0

  9. Go; Go, RB. Nafuti, Nafuti. Kaponyas will be busy at the court but you are busy delivering to the Zambian people. That is what we call leadership

  10. Bumber harvest after bumber harvest,Choma-Namwala road,Mchinji railwayline to the indian ocean and the list is endless. All this because of HE.RB and mighty MMD.This is definetely a white wash or a fools mate to the opposition especially the King Cobra.A pat on the back the the incumbent. In Tonga they say ”muntu uta  lumbi mubwa”.

  11. Are high officials going to stop being sent to South Africa? That hospital looks as if its not even finished. Why is it that in Zambia we like cleaning the inside but the outside remains dirty? The area surrounding the hospital is telling another story. The hospital looks beautiful but outside? We will call Japan to come and clean it for us.

Good at building but worse at maintainance.

  12. #14 @Boring….i agree with u a 100% if we cant improve standards @UTH how long will it take for this hospital to be worse than UTH? 2years, 3years….its not even finished for speaking out loud. All RB wants is to get back to state house. cant the pipo see thru all his BS. Sadly the pipo have no alternative. I see myself not coming back to Zed anytime soon….too many MAMBALAS

  13. @14, I am sorry to use this language but the kind of stupidity being exhibited is appaling. If you follow the news regularly surely you will know that the picture shown is when Hon Simbao was inspecting the hospital during final phases of construction and not today as you stupidly think. This information is readily available in the public media and you are ignorant because you choose to read the Post which deliberately hides good things from fools like you. But it does not matter how much the Post wants to hide information, the Lusaka General Hospital is a new landmark on the Great East Rd, you cannot miss it as you travel along the road. Mmembe’s Post cannot hide it.

    • public debate demands sober minds. Insulting is failure to debate. Next time try to just put your point foward without insults. Your views will still head.

  14. @14 & 15, you guys are ignorant buffoons, the bottom layer of human beings. Everybody else knows that hospitals are normally commissioned in phases. And why shouldn’t RB commission it now anyway? It’s an MMD project and they want to show the people of Zambia what they have accomplished so far, all the way to election date they shall be showing you their achievements while Chola Chama and Winter Kabimba play snake charmers at the Lusaka High Court.

  15. #18 pf government
You are spot on!!!Tell the dilusional, ungrateful and unpatriotic ranters of the tangible hope HERB is giving to the nation!!

  16. First patriotic Zambian @ 8

Thank you for your eloquence and l am in complete agreement with you. It’s really interesting to comprehend why people expected RB to cancel projects by the President . RB was vice president of the government he is doing his duty of completing those govt projects. They are govt projects, not LPMs as leader RB is a good a job of! So to all peace loving Zambians Nafuti Nafuti
    Engineer( Australia) @ 10
Yes timing has to be right, people, call RB all names under the sun, but his recall into politics meant he was in the right place & at the right time and for that he is the President.
    Nafuti Nafuti

    • Well stated…this is Zambian peoples money at work! This country has never experienced this much development in a short time…actions speak louder. The government is at work and every Zambian should back it’s leadership…Ba PF Bailasha!

  17. # 7 i concur with you lets be having elections every year so that these last minute and unbudgeted for developments can be occuring every year.

  18. its the duty of govt to build public structures, only despotic and ignorant people wud use such as campaign to hoodwink people.RB is a shameless opportunist,we are not saying he should have stopped what Mwanawasa started its his lack of humility and selfishness, the desperation to claim were he did not sow.
What will happen when he finishes commissioning what Mwanawasa started? What will RB put in place or leave behind as his legacy or projects? He is so dull

  19. This president good at commissioning things,  hope there is medicine in that building! and you would go running to the donors!

  20. Nafuti Nafuti
They were and Still are govt projects not LPM,s . President Banda is just performing
his duties, America still has troops in the middle east, completing, Bush,s war, Same in the Uk
Blair started it, Brown carried on and now David Cameron has carried on with wars
Governments change and so do leaders, with all due respect It’s not like Mwanawasa was using his own money

  21. When RB became president, PF’s refrain was RUPIAH HAS NO VISION. What happened to that that line of thought if one may ask? Later the refrain was COMPLETING LEVY’S PROJECTS. Now the refrain is PROJECTS DURING ELECTION TIME. What a bunch of failures. They keep falling on themselves with evil thoughts to lumber on poor RB. Abapesha mudala uyu aba bantu.

  22. Thank you very much RB and MMD government for the job well done. Ba mwine Ba Mwanawansa was MMD to the core. You RB are also MMD to the core. It is Aluta continua. Ni Nafuti Nafuti. Pankoooooooolooooooooooooookooooooooooooooooo IMWE.

  23. K40 billion? Is this correct? This works out to £6 million! Wow, it’s cheap to build hospitals in Zambia! In the city I live in, they just built an Accident & Emergency department for £6 million, no wards, no labs, no x-ray department, laundry, sterilisation, dining and beds!

  24. You expected PF to do the same when they have not been in government before? The guy is just doing his job, so why have we got to praise him? Atase kwati pali ka hospital; For 20 years you mean you can even boast of such a clinic ati hospital ba kabwa imwe. This year muleponokwa balobo yenu

  25. If UTh is looking like a ghost hospital from the outside, the co ours of the new hospital will make the hospital look worse in 2 years time. That aside, god luck to RB

  26. @29, Just to refresh your obviously short memory, during the first 10 of those 20 years Mr Sata was Minister of Health for quite some time and no new hospital was ever built. This Lusaka General Hospital has been built during the second 10 years of MMD when Mr Sata has been outside the MMD. We will keep reminding PF cadres that that line of argument is unhelpful to their campaigns. Every Zambian now knows Mr Sata from A to Z. Thanks to the Post and Stand Up for Zambia, now even the youth who were not born when we were being terrosied by Mr Sata now know the man. Agony is that PF cannot accuse anyone of any wrong doing which Mr Sata has not done, talk about corruption, violence, plunder, immorality, infidelity, dictatorship just about everything undesirable.

  27. Oh, and of course tribalism and unpresidential language. The list is endless baba. That is why the PF message of change is as ridiculous as it is laughable as long Mr Sata’s name is associated with that change.

  28. What we Zambians we always forget is the reason why we need a President. They are here to take charge and accertain that national resources etc are properly used.Ni captain pa mitondo primary school.Whatever he comes up with is why he gets paid.Be Mwanawasa,Chiluba ,Kaunda or RB.They are not using their own funds awe.Ni taxi payers money mwebantu.Awe ni mwanawasa project, awe ni chiluba project,,,Poor understanding.WHoever comes into office must perform,if mwanawasa left projects and RB finishes them ,it is cool.We only have to blame him if he fails too.
No president has used his money to build anything and as things go,stuff are discussed and debated then the signature follows from the president. No single character should stand firm as the initiator of A,B and so on.AWE nakana sana.

  29. The pathological Fools can not talk about change without changing alot of things within themselves,Sata(na) be changed he has done more harm than good to the party ,they must change their brains because they continue changing on issues like Grade fours, maybe its because that was sata”s highest attainment of education. They change their tribalistic approach, just look at the names being associated with them.

  30. Politics of saying RB gets a dead man’s praise are bad politics. They are just meant to create enemity among tribes and other up-coming political parties. There are many people involved in decision making and all of them are paid for their services.Even those on lip service get paid

  31. those who have traveled, ultramodern is not the work to use for such a structure, and why should the whole president be commissioning projects a P.S shud?

  32. That Hospital is not yet finished. The road rehab the MMD promised has stalled. They said rehab roads in Full swing, check the kafue roads, they graded a few and ended up causing dust pollution, worsened the situation. The tarmac they MMD sag about is nowhere to be seen. RB did the same years ack, took the press and showed them KK’s incomplete house and claimed we have housed KK. Too little too late RB going OUT this year.

  33. If PF supporters saw RB walking on water, they would say he is only doing so because he cant swim! Bemba tribalists in Paltry Faculties (pf) party will NEVER acknowledge any achievement by the present administration. In fact, they would be celebrating if there was a famine in Zambia like the one we are seeing in Somalia at present as it would at least give them some justifiable cause of hating RB besides the fact that he was not born into a Bemba family.  The fact that this new hospital is nearly completed and is there for all to see on Great East Road must be agony for them but it is nothing compared to the tribalists will have to endure on the 21st of September.

  34. I think it would be a good idea for LT to publish some photos of the new hospitals around the country such as the ones in Chongwe, Mumbwa, Shang’ombo, Lumezi, Samfya, Chiengi ,Lufwanyama, and Chadiza just to see the kind of bile that the Putrid Flesh (pf) numbskulls will spew as usual.

  35. The general hospital is complete so is the stadium in ndola. Soon both will be commissioned. These projects were not started 90 day ago, neither did LPM start the them. They were in the pipe-dream well vested in the MMD manifesto, vision and its policies.Let me make it absolutely clear that RB is not MMD and MMD is not RB. MMD is a separate legal entity and this distinction is of utmost importance. Rb is simply a member of the entity MMD who happens to be its leader at the moment and he is rightly placed to champion the cause for which the party stands for. So when he commissions completed projects he is doing it at the behest of the party and its membesr who happens to be us enjoying tangible results. Unless you tell me that SATA is PF and PF is SATA. Nowonder.

  36. By the time the elections are over Zambia will be out of the middle income group and into the ‘Highest’ income group. One Zambia One Nation. Chisokone, Chisokone, Tiyende Pamodzi ndimutimaumo ….

  37. In 20 yrs we have a few clinics, roads, and stadiums and ohh more than 80%unemployed and 90% poor. Pathetic record by any standards.

  38. @46 Witness true..But only a few chaps who are advantage in this MMD ERROR, are supporting this while most zambians are suffering..PATHETIC STANDARDS

  39. #46 Sata was in govt for 10 of those 20 years but did nothing. RB has been president for 3 years and look at what he has achieved! Seems to me that the Zed govt performs better when the third-term sponsoring, machete distributing, adulterer with a dodgy ticker currently the dictator in chief of Potential Famine (pf) party is nowhere near the axis of power.

  40. #48
RB is just riding on high copper prices. Tha sad thing is after 20 yrs Zambia has produced 10s of billions of dollars in minerals and all MMD can show is empty clinics being called ‘ultamordern’ an patch up roads while 90% of our pipo remain hungry on a dollar/day. The next presido will win by majority and unfortunetly for RB the majority are the 80% unemployed, 90% poor of the the population. It is a vote to change from 20 yrs of suffering for our pipo.

  41. @49, Much as you may want change, it’s not Mr Sata that you have in mind is it? If it is, then I am sorry the people of Zambia don’t agree with you, and that includes the poor and the unemployed. Agony is talking about change and the only thing that you can present is Mr Sata :-)

  42. #40, Although the structure looks good and modern, the term ultra modern has more to do with the equipment and facilities rather than the structure. Ba PF, surely are you going to spend your lifetime trying to discredit the tangible obvious. If you really are looking for something to discredit or criticise, why not start with “90 days more money in your pockets”? You will definitely be a winner with that.

  43. #49 Yes and he is using the money from the mines to build hospitals – why do you have a problem with that? It is also patently untrue that we are solely dependent on copper only. We are now a net exporter of maize, the tourism industry is seeing new investment and the govt is encouraging new industries such as the new cement factory in Masaiti which will bring the price of cement down (further boosting the thriving construction industry) as well as providing employment to people in a neglected rural areas and that is why H.E.R.B will be getting my vote.

  44. :( Banda am watching U, ubufi bwafula sana. U can`t develop in 60days. U had 3 yrs in damn power and these sharm projects, they don`t make sense to any normal human being. In USA, U will loose elections without a question and they shall be investigations how public funds are been utilised. MMD are just corn men. PF have a good chance to win but they don`t need to bring old MMD politicians like Pro Lou, for what reasons. They `re a lot of young Zambians men & women highly educated and very fresh who can make better decisions and policies not just for economical developments but also morally right. Ba Pres Banda U have already showed international community that manipulating judical matters has bad consequences. BY Mwila said that U let Chiluba off the leash by intervening in the juducially.

    • You seem to be detached with the realities in Zambia my brother… why don’t you return from your refugee status we build the nation together!

  45. HH had a very good chance to elections but it seemed that he HH and his party hv already lot elections before they could start. UNIP is dead on arrival and the rest are just banch of useless gold diggers or money chasers. Listen pipo, am not PF parasite or hv some favour in their party but am just observing the situation from across the atlantic ocean. The issue of Banda been a foreigner, PF should focus on winning pipo`s mind and start ruling after september, forget Banda foreign thing now. U will deal with him once U are in power bcoz all the resources ll be there to chase him day & night.

  46. My fellow Zambian, when are we going to change our constitution so that present President and former Presidents can pay taxs like any other Zambian citizen do? USA President makes $400,000 per yr and pay uncle sam all it dues on time. Zambian should do the same, and make sure no public funds are used to build Zambia former President houses. Let them build their houses like kapoyas, bus drivers, marketeers, women selling vegetable on the street do. These pipo suffer alot. Another point i would like to mention is election day, this day should be written in the constitution, like every after 5yrs on October 28th shall be elections day and public holiday for pipo to elect their leaders. Disable pipo, older pipo & pregnant women to vote earlier one day before election day.

  47. Well done to MMD & RB for the new Lusaka Gen Hospital .I understand that the hospital was built by a Chinese company. Don’t we have construction companies in Zambia that can built a hospital?

  48. Job well done…we are waiting for you to come and commission the stadium in Ndola! Keep on keeping the hopes of Zambians alive! This is it dear fellow Zambians…we have proven leadership!
