Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) president Charles Milupi has noted that the lack of general consensus among the opposition political parties has contributed to fragmentation of the opposition in the country.

Mr. Milupi said that some opposition political parties that seem to be so popular have failed to reach an agreement with other political parties because they have the minority agenda.

He added that ADD had always indicated that it was ready to work with any party provided there was commitment from both parties to reach a general consensus.

Mr Milupi who successfully filed in his presidential nominations yesterday has however dismissed assertions that the increased numbers of political parties participating in this year’s elections will split the opposition vote.

He notes that the people of Zambia are able to vote for the people they feel will be able to deliver development and good leadership.

And Zambia Police Service Deputy Commissioner Solomon Jere has said the service will remain vigilant and ready to counter any form of violence during the election period.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Jere has expressed happiness at the conduct of political cadres during the ongoing filing in of presidential nominations.

He says the peace currently prevailing at the Supreme Court is encouraging and has urged cadres to maintain tranquility during election and after the 20th September poll.

The Police deputy Commissioner explains that this year’s polls should be violence free adding that the police will not hesitate to pounce on any law breaker.

He has since called on all political cadres to cooperate with the police in order to ensure that no form of violence is recorded in the forthcoming tripartite elections.

Dr. Jere says the police service will always uphold professional standards and endeavor to ensure that Zambians are protected from any form of mischief.

  1. Very right Malupi. An example is the recently constitutional prob into rb’s parentage that was played down by Upnd. It seems Upnd is more in agreement with mmd than any other opposition. I can’t see why they even contesting instead of just joining them

    • UPND has a right to associate with whoever they find themselves in agreement with. They also have the right to contest elections.

PS. Am neither UPND nor MMD. Very neutral, but acknowledging each party’s right to existence!!!

  2. Our political leaders have always failed to read and understand the mood of the electorate hence the many political parties and presidential candidates that have no following.
Milupi is welcome to join the queue of the many failed politicians who started out with a similar selfish agenda and are now nowhere! What a shame.

  3. Look who’s talking! The fact that you feel “that some opposition political parties that seem to be so popular”, an indication that you don’t acknowledge their popularity, iz a problem in itself. You may win favour of some people in your constituency, but you certainly cannot take the Zambians for a ride. If that iz the way Milupi choozes to spend hiz millionz, who are we to question.

  4. I agree with you bo Milupi. Not every one agrees with the suggestion by some die hard PF and MMD members that the old dinosars RB or Sata should continue ruling us. Most of us prefer a new genaration of leaders to take over the leadership of the country. Our voice should be heard. We want real change not recycling the same old and tired political players. No amount of insults from PF/MMD cadres will deter us.

  5. Yes bwana engineer Milupi, at least for these elections where we all Zambians are determined to root out the MMD out of office on 20th September 2011, just be a patriotic Zambian and support PF and Mr Sata. There after you can start giving credible opposition to PF when it is in Government. Just look at how the people of Western,N/Western, Northern, Central & Luapula Provinces have been suffering despite having supported the croocked MMD religiously. It’s time you the oppposition worked together for the common good of the underpriviledged. Remember by you helping PF liberate Zambia, your heart will be at peace. Lets work together. Panji Kaunda has proved to all what it is to serve the people as opposed to be worshipped as seen in MMD. Viva Sata viva ubwato

  6. @ 2 Amayama – The position taken by the rest of the oppositions, particularly that taken by the UPND on the RB parentage issue seems to me to be the most rational under the circumstances. Other than Milton Phiri’s statements, what other evidence is in the open to prove beyond reasonable doubt that RB’s parentage is foreign? Ideally for such an allegation to hold, PF would have to provide evidence beyond Milton Phiri’s “wild accusation”. i.e. are they in possession of RB’s parents birth certificates? or do they have credible witnesses who were present at the time RB’s parents were being born to confirm that they were present in Zim or Malawi then? I doubt it for both.

  7. Agree with you #9, the man had nothing to say but felt he needed to say something after filing his nomination papers. Lack of introspect especially in these political parties! Just blinded by greed and hatred!

  8. The problem we have is selfish leaders, from the very foolish ones to the ones with oversize egos they all feel they have a right to govern us but democracy is about respecting the will of the people. If we have so many contenders it only means we as a nation are confused about who we want to lead us or what we expect from our leaders. We have too many leaders who have been in the system for too long and need to go. Then we have alot of young leaders who are too raw and not ready to lead. The Milupi’s and Chipimo’s will probably be standing again in the next elections hopefully by then the would have been bloodied to maturity if the can survive opposition politics(remember late Mungomba). HH is in a good position but made a near fatal error of sleeping with a snake (lilomba)

  9. # 3 That’s a good question for MILUPI. How myopic ! Milupi’s behaviour and pronouncements are a sign of a person having a brain of a chicken.

    • My friend if you only knew this man Perhaps you wud retract your comment. This man is one off the most intelligent zambians today. Even if he stood he doesn’t stand this year and leaves it for  2016, he will be considered a newbie then. He needs to stand this year to sell himself as a presidential candidate. Sata did the same in 2001, look where he is today.

  10. Learn to respect those that you have found iin the game. Especially the PF man who managed to build his paryy from scratch because that is the route you have decided to take. But baba why have u only said this now.Apart from Luena, what can u possibly bring to any opposition pact Mr Milupi?

  11. # 16 PETER NGOSA, YOU BEMBA CHAPS LACK REASONING. WHO HAS BRAIN OF A CHICKEN BETWEEN SATA & MILUPI? MUNUNGU WA HAO NGOSA. PF CAN’T WIN AN ELECTION COZ OF BEMBA CHAPS LIKE YOU. VIVA MMD, VIVA RB

  12. These cecessionists also feel they can rule Zambia. Mwanya ba fikal.a, mukachite cecession amato.le yenu if you want. We know how diabolic you are as a people, never will we ever give you chance to rule Zambia even for a minute. Maso yenu.

    • Chance comes from God not from you sir/madam,dd u kno RB would b president, peoplse who have been crying 4 it Like Sata they will just feel the smell of it thus all.I also request u to regulate yo language thank u

  13. #18 YOU ARE USELESS. HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT RB THIS TIME. ARE SURE WE SHOULD LEAVE WITH THE MMD FOREVER? PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU TALK, DONT BE CHEATED, UZAKALILI IWE MWAUCHEEE.

  14. # 20
it is bemba i.di.ot.s like you who make right thinking pipo not to cast their vote for satan. You fu.cking bemba d.ogs are the most tribalists. The more reason RB will be victorious.
Like it or not the state funeral RB will declare over appointing his cabinet is that of the devil- SATANYO

  15. #24

You must be a retard to think I am Bemba, trust me am not. But the point is I don’t care who else rules Zambia, but not pipo who have openly delared their intentions to ceceed and destroy what our forefathers stood for, One Zambia One Nation. Hope I have put enough sense in your dul.l pig head.

    • So you calling Milupi a cessionist because he is Lozi? Every Lozi is one in your eyes??? What a tribalist cunt you are. Lol

  16. I know why and I’ll tell the honest answer there is ffragmentation in the oopposition. You lot form parties like tuntemba. When u see u cant get a job in government u form your own party. Politics in Zambia is not about ideology and policy, you take people for granted a lot. Forming a party is purely a job application for all of u. What ideology is PF, UNIP, UPND, FDD Heritage and all the other numerous parties based on? Some are purely on hatred of others, yet others are based on failure to get the position they so thot they ddeserved. It’s all about gratifying yourselves. That’s why u fail to give MMD formidable opposition, u are not alternatives at all. Atleast MMD came with an ideology of ddemocracy and have taken themselves into economic advancement.

  17. Hypocritical if you ask me; It’s chaps like you who want to be “president” at all costs that causes confusion amongst the opposition and unnecessarily splits the vote. You, Chipimo Jr, Nawakwi, Tilyengi, Miyanda and others are all jokers! You’re standing despite knowing very well that you’ll never win an election. HH and Sata are also both too selfish; there’s no way either of them is ever going to dislodge the incumbent. RB pa nkoloko, nafuti nafuti…chwe chwe chwe :d

  18. ADD can not work with corrupt and unprincipled people in both the MMD and PF.
We might have something in common with UPND that that needs to be sorted out by the NEC of both parties.
    Abash Sata,abash Banda,
please take your retirement benefits and crawl into your Kraals!
Bring me young fresh minds in both parties and i will give you a chance and maybe my vote.

  19. DRC, MUZINDO WA KO. WHAT IGNORANCE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? IF YOU BEMBA CHAPS THINK YOU CAN RULE THIS COUNTRY ON YOUR OWN, YOU ARE WRONG. YOU PF CHAPS ARE JUST THIEVES. THE SAME CHAPS WHO BEHAVED LIKE MONKEYS IN MAIZE FIELDS BETWEEN 1991 TO 2001 ARE RE-GROUPING IN PF. FOOL DRC.

    • VIVA to the truth. There is no real change in PF. Actually, it even worsen the situation because the same MMD squanderers are in PF. These recycled chaps need to be chucked out… real change is in HH else, MMD better continue.

  20. The fact is Zambia is not ready for change. Just look at all these political parties. Had the PACT worked, we would be talking of change. Change will come only through HH believe me. As long as HH continues not being accepted on tribal grounds, ViVa RB and MMD wamuyayaya.

  21. Mr Milupi  instantly over rated himself and developed pride and wanted the opposition parties with larger following to kneel before him and surrender all western province parliamentary seats to be given to him.

  22. THIS YEAR IS FOR THE MMD THE OPPOSITION DONT STAND A CHANCE WE BETTER OF STICKING TO WHAT WE KNW THAN EXPERIMENTING..CHWEEE CHWEEEE

  23. MR MILUPI, WE HAVE 40 DAYS BEFORE ELECTIONS, SO LETS STOP DREAMING ABOUT PACTS….YOU HAVE FILED YOU NOMINATION PAPERS, NOW START CAMPAIGNING…….THE ERA OF PACTS IS LONG GONE……DID YOU APPROACH PF OVER THIS ISSUE????, ANYWAY LETS NOT WASTE TIME CRYING OVER SPILT MILK, THAT IS IF THE MILK WAS THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE……….GO, GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF………..BYE, BYE POLIO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Mr Milupi, so you want to be President? Guess what, it wont happen. You could have continued being MP if you didn’t overrate yourself.

  25. When some one is greedy, they tend to lose out on real opportunities whilst rushing for greedy pieces of a loaf. It takes wisdom. Those who greedily want to be Predients will even lose their Parliamentary seats. Better a half loaf than nothing.

  26. PF is very irrational,arrogant,dictatorial..selfish leaders and uncaring..vengeance is too much in them..we need change..20HH

  27. I see the frustration from those who are insulting and calling each other names such as “tribalists” etc. In my view, the reason why there so many political parties, including what I would call “single member” political parties, is because of the undemocratic system within the main political parties. RB is unchallengeable in MMD. Magande and others who have attempted to do so have paid dearly for so daring. In PF Michael Sata is president for life and in UPND HH is the president “till death do us part.” How then does one hope to run for the office of president in an existing party? Why can’t African political parties learn from well-established political parties in the developed world? The African type of democracy is in essence dictatorship.

  28. We know you Milu-Milu you built houses for people during your compaigns then grabbed them later from the families occupying those less than 20 houses. You call yourself GOOD LEADER?
    Atase iwe kabolala

  29. milupi, too bad you wont be in the next pariament, will miss your effort to develop the nation.u cant jummp on the scene and want to be given a share which you havent foght 4.this party is as good as a branch in pf. jump in the boat, be an MP, then a cabinet minister.222222 bad 4 you

  30. Does Sata have credible Witnesses to support his wild claims on RB’s parents. These should testify that on 24th Oct 1964 they were drinking Tobwa in Zimbabwe or Malawi with RB’s parents and they should also clear explain how they witnessed RB’s parents birth in ZIM or Malawi. And there should be collaborative witneses ………….. Its frantly a waste of time and energy.
