Two PF parliamentary candidates show up to file nomination papers at the same time in Katuba constituency

Share

There was confusion today at Katuba nomination centre when two PF parliamentary candidates showed up to file their nomination papers at the same time.

The incident happened at Mwanjuni Basic School in Katuba constituency. The two candidates reportedly had adoption certificates, but the other had a letter of withdrawal for the other candidate.

Electoral Officer John Manganda told ZNBC news that the two candidates have been sent back to their secretariat to resolve the matter and none was allowed to file in nomination papers.

And the PF have withdrawn their candidature for Kasenengwa Parliamentary seat. The party had adopted Grace Mwanza to contest on its ticket. The party has written to Electoral Commission of Zambia, District Electoral officer for Kasenengwa indicating that it has withdrawan sponsorship for Ms Mwanza.

Elsewhere, five political parties have so far successfully filed in their parliamentary nomination for Lusaka Central. Patriotic Front’s Guy Scott was the first to file in his nomination. The second was the MMDs Muhabi Lungu. He told ZNBC that he was confident that his party will carry the day owing to the works they have managed to achieve so far.

United Party for National Development candidate Charles Msiska has also successfully filed in his nomination.

National Revolution Party -NRP candidate Cephas Chansa was the third to file his nomination.

Mr Chansa says he will work aggressively to upgrade the constituency because it has been neglected for a long time.

He was flunked by NRP President Cosmo Mumba who says that he will help his MP to make a difference in the constituency especially that he was the youngest politician in parliament.

Zambia Direct Democracy Movement ZDDM candidate Edwin Sakala was the fourth to file in his nomination.

Earlier Mr Sakala was turned back by the returning officer, Hellen Mubita because he had incomplete documents.

National Democratic Party- NDP candidate for Lusaka Central David Kasuba was also turned back because he did not sign his statutory declaration and the declaration of compliance.

Among other documents parliamentary must have include nine supporters, two witnesses, 5 hundred thousand nomination fee, a letter from a sponsoring political party authorizing the candidate to stand as an MP and a photo of the candidate.

Mr Kasuba has since successfully filed in his nominations.

In Nchelenge, MMD’s Benjamin Mwila has filed in his nomination for the September 20th elections.

Mr Mwila immediately appealed to the electorates to rally behind President Rupiah Banda and the MMD because of the various socio-economic achievements he has scored.

Mr. Mwila has also called on the voters in Nchelenge Constituency to give him another chance as their Member of Parliament.

National Movement Party’s (NMP) Nchelenge Constituency Parliamentary Candidate Daniel Christopher Musonda has also successfully filed in his nomination papers.

Mr. Musonda successfully filed in his nomination to contest the elections at 11:49 hours.

The Patriotic Front (PF) Nchelenge Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Raymond Mpundu has also successfully filled in his nomination papers.

Mr. Mpundu’s papers were officially declared valid by the Returning Officer, Danny Chibinda at about 12:30 hours.

By Press time UNIP, UPND and two other independent candidates were yet to file in their nomination Papers.

  1. he he ke ke ke ..this is what happens when you DONCHI KUBEBA everything. I can’t blame the two guys. One paid a bribe to Sata who gave him a certificate and told him DONCHI KUBEBA and the other paid a bribe to Wynter Kabimba who gave him a certificate and told him DONCHI KUBEBA also. And this is the result.

This is PF at its best

    DONCHI KUBEBA

  2. the confusion happens when a party listens to the grassroot not like mmd which fall deaf ear to the voice of the people as they did on constitution.

  3. How are we to believe this story when they have not even bothered to name the two aspirants for Katuba? What kind of reporting is this?

  4. You not be suprise  by the action of PF. This party is full of kaponyas, what do you expect from PF members. This is  a party of comedians. So this SATA of yours. Katuba is the seat for UPND.

  5. A casual examination of PF adopted list of candidates reveals that the PF has no chance of survival and the Party has already lost all seats in Eastern, Luapula, Southern, Northwestern and Western Provinces. The Party can only pick a few votes in some urban areas of Central, Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces. Luo, Jean Kapata, Lubinda and Guy Scott have an uphill battle to face very formidable opponents in Lusaka. Only a few lucky PF candidtes may sail thru elsewhere in Northern Province, but their Presidential candidate is destined to lose outright. The people of Zambia need a descent leader to foster development.

  6. Most members of PF will register a protest vote against Sata and his favoured candidates for imposing un-popular candidates rejected by the grass roots. A price to be paid for Sata’s dictatorial practices.

  7. 90 days economic miracle when you are losing court cases left, right and centre and cant get a simple process of filing in nomination papers right!

  8. Nga ku kasenengwa nishani nako, the have just discovered that they adopted a purist MMD.it’s always the case of adopting people to make up numbers.more to follow!

  9. Typical of PF, if PF won elections (which will never happen) let’s expect 2 vice presidents, a cabinet of 200 cabinet ministers. Please let’s vote for a stable leader RB, chwe chwe chwe

  10. We should not even pay attention to such petty confusion from PF.Actually we expect tsunami size confusion when people realise that they trully have a ”Vernom spitting Cobra”  amidst them and start scampering in all directions.PF is at the height of ”election fever” and the diagnosis is that they now caught on Hysteria!!!

  11. In Monze, the MMD candidate for local council elections was not registered. The MMD found a replacement, two weeks ago. In Katuba PF has two candidates for Parliament, they likely will have their nominations resolved at the last minute (in Lusaka) and dash back to Katuba. And this is happening on the nomination day. People, tell me, who is a good manager of time here, PF or MMD? This makes it VERY easy for independents like me to make a VERY easy decision in the booth.

  12. 2 CANDIDATES? IT IS POSSIBLE IF THE PARTY IS VERY POPULAR LIKE PF IS!
GO-GO-GO PF NABALWALA MUMALA BA” NA FUTI NAFUTI CORRUPTION”

  13. Its sad that the reporting makes no sense cause Saul Zulu is the candidate and not Grace Mwanza but off course because its PF everyone has something negative to report that is sad cause this is a great opportunity for us zambians to witness the change we have always longed for.

    • yes my friend, it wud be cool to have change but the change has to make sense and it has to be REAL CHANGE and PF am sorry to say is just a very darker version of the MMD. U want change u have to vote for the other nonentity parties like ADD or NAREP etc.

  14. Zambians wake up, please, the corruption we face is because of voting in people who have never done anything for themselves or even to close relative, but want to learn how to care when they are in charge of our tax money. It is impossible to remove corruption in such as they want to amass wealth before their term of office ends. It is impossible to claim to manage to take care of others when you yourself cannot afford to take care of yourself. Guys this is the time when we need HH at all cost to help us move the economy. For me I do not mind about the party, but just the individual HH.

  15. CONFUSION IN A CONFUSED PARTY , NOW I AGREE WHEN I HEAR PEOPLE SAYING PF IS NOT NORMAL OR SHOULD I SAY I AGREE WITH PEOPLE WHO QUESTION THE DEGREE OF NORMALITY IN THE LEADER OF THIS TRIBAL PARTY

  16. Does it mean we are two seats down already-this is not supposd to happen especialy in the now PF strongwood, Eastern Province!

  17. Unconfirmed reports are that pf has failed to field candidates in 2constituencies and 12 local gvt seats . Anyway lets wait and see . Wina ayamba kudala. Titanic is sinking .chwe chwe chwe chwe viva rb.
