SCORES of people who went to attend the Press Freedom Committee (PFC) of the Post forum addressed by Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata yesterday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre were disappointed with Mr Sata’s hesitant responses to several questions and described him as a time waster.

Inside the conference hall and outside the building, several people who were seen moving either in a group or two were heard whispering and complaining over Mr Sata’s failure to articulate national issues properly.

Some condemned Mr Sata of diverting questions from the audience and resorted to attacking President Rupiah Banda and Vice President George Kunda.

Others were spotted holding dark corner meetings and buzzed Mr Sata’s failure to substantiate what PF would do if it was elected different from MMD’s national affairs.

Most of the youth who appeared to be students were heard saying Mr Sata should stop playing with people’s mind describing him as time waster for lack of explaining national matters in a right manner.

“Gentlemen, I thought we came here to listen to constructive things but this man (Mr Sata) kept on attacking President Banda and Mr Kunda what for? Even the way he was answering questions its like he was not prepared,” some people were over heard saying.

Mr Sata who did not look to be in a jovial mood during the forum like in most rallies or meeting he addresses gave an excuse to the audience to twist their questions if he did not respond them well.

“If I haven’t answered your question properly there is no harm for you to twist your questions again,” he said Mr Sata also refused to answer to a question from one of the members of the audience who wanted to find what stance PF would take if it lost this year’s election against the ruling MMD.

But Mr Sata instead accused the ruling MMD of hiding some ballot papers in Lusaka and that he knew the locations of the ballots and that PF would fight hard to ensure there was transparent in handling of ballot papers.

“We know the MMD is hiding some ballot papers in Lusaka and we shall expose them,” claimed Mr Sata. He said, if elected the PF would immediately facilitate enactment of the failed Republican Constitution within a period of 90 days and the national document would protect interest of all citizens.

He said Zambia needed a strong Constitution that could give dignity and empowerment to citizens and a Constitution that would restrict more powers to the president.

Mr Sata also accused the ruling MMD of buying voters cards and National Registration Cards (NRC) from some citizens especially the refugees in areas like Maheba refugee camp.

He alleged President Banda and his MMD administration have decided to purchase several motor vehicles for campaigns when the police service had fewer vehicles pointing at a police officer who was sited at the main entrance of the conference hall.

“The PF will strengthen the public service commission and increase the number of employees in the formal sector such as police and prison officers,” he said And instead of giving the right response on the mobile hospitals after some people asked him to comment on the facilities, Mr Sata said President Banda decided to remove former Local Government and Housing Minister Brain Chituwo from ministry of health and decided to appoint an engineer Kapembwa Simbao who is also former Health Minister but lacked knowledge on mobile hospitals.

Mr Sata however assured Zambians that PF would carry out peaceful campaigns.

The headline should have been: “SATA PERFORMS AS EXPECTED…!!!” All thos that know Sata will agree with me that the way he performed is exactly how he performs. I think the people who went there expecting him to be a different person are the ones to blame. That is why we insist that PLEASE, PLEASE, don’t vote for PF and Sata – you will live to regret. What you are reading in this story is a warning to you all. Never expect anything better from Sata. Look at even the pathetic performance of his most trusted adviser Wynter Kabimba!!! THese guys in PF are smoking a very hard and potent variety of marijuana and I advise them to stop so that they can concentrate properly on campaigning. I have no doubt Sata smoked before going to address people.

    • It would have been better the proceeding where shown on TV. The man will be a disgrace to Zambia if we make a mistake and vote for him. Much as we cry for change, lets do it but not Sata’s calibre in State House. What will Zambia become. Thanks Ohms at least you saw it for your self.

  16. I am surprised that it took some people so long to realise that Sata is incapable of articulating national issues. Faced by a serious audience like the one at Mulungushi, he exposes his inability to inteligently deal with important issues. He thrives on uncoordinated rantings, diverting people’s attention from real issues to trivial ones where he begins accusing others and attcking them personaly. He is an alarmist and his language appeals to the Kaponyas whose thinking is so shallow. He has never answered any practical questions properly. He will always find a way to trivialise everything and wanting everyone to listen to him only and not him to listen to tohers. We cannot allow such a person to be our President.

  17. Sata does not even understand basic inflation so how is he going to run Zambias affairs?

    Sata needs to start with 1 + 1 and Mulunga and Jelita before he can sit with the World Bank and IMF to discuss policy.

    The only way to fight the west is by learning from them. They are educated so we need educated leaders too. They are young so we need young leaders too.

    Only then can we sit with the West and make better policy decisions for Zambia.

    Sata in plot one, is like leaving your lovely wife who supports you and marrying a gay who beats you. Zambia can never go forward with Sata because he is uneducated, ignorant and has dictatorial tendencies like Idi Amin.

  26. I listened to the programe thru QFM -87.7 and i can confirm that Sata is a disgrace to his party and Zambia. The man lamentably failed to answer question and instead, he went on attcking MMD, RB and GK. Sata never said anthing sensible that PF would do in case they fromed gvt. So if you still dream that sata is normal, then kip on dreaming until 20th sept when the man will colapse with shock of losing elction for the 4th time.

  27. I listened to to Sata on radio when I was driving to my farm. Oh my God, can somebody tell me this is the man we should entrust our lives with? I am sorry, Sata has gotten away with mediocrity for too long, he thrives on a mediocre support base that is just too ignorant about real issues. When Sata lies about anything, then it is true and they get excited.

  62. The frustration of UPND is every visible on this forum. Dont vent your anger on Sata as if he is the one who caused defections of your non-adopted from your tribal party. Deal with your internal party problems and dont bring your chibwantu and mabisi in others’ parties. Your under five leader is inexperienced, hence those confusions that have rocked your tribal party. Only PF and MMD which are headed by inkalambas are intact after all the nominations. But for the tribal party, oops defections, resignations and bickering leading to others filing as independents. Why is he only popular in one province? Why cant he is also be popular in other provinces? You can not form government with the support of only one tribe. I dont see myself being forced to drink chibwantu and mabisi under the UPND govt later on Tonga being forced on our children as an official language in schools. I will only be comfortable either PF or MMD wins not UPND, period.

The under five will be given a ward as a Councillor so that in time after garnering some experience he will be considered for the mayoral position.     Having said that, Mr Sata is not on good ground here:
    1. Ballot papers cannot be printed BEFORE candidates are known, so where are these ballot papers that MMD has hidden? Does MMD know before hand who the candidates will be?
    2. You do not have to be a medical doctor to be a Minister of Health. Ministers are not technocrats, that is the job of the Perm secs and others. Ministry of Health has Directors who know what the Ministry needs and they advise the Minister accordingly.
    3. Every time Mr Sata speaks, he smacks as one who has never been in government and if he has the only thing that he took up was space, just like Wynter in Law school.
    PF needs Mrs Kaseba-Sata, not this joker.

  103. It can take an intelligent nursery school going kid only minutes to classify Sata as rough Joker and an unpolished Comedian who frightens rather than put smiles on the faces of the audience.   104. The true sign of a person not knowing an answer to a question is using defence mechanisms like deflections and personal attacks on others. 

    It is unfortunate that PF supporters aren’t bothered to check out the video on Muvi tv’s website. This isn’t an issue of party loyalty, wise up and analyse why you really support this candidate. Are you being tribalist? Are you supporting him because your friends support him, is it the ‘in’ thing to do in your area? Do you think the things he says make sense to you?

    Watch the video and analyse them, a university graduate who reads journals could easily answer the questions. Sata’s inability to do so is very worrying considering he is vying for the highest office of the land.

  110. The Muvi video clip is too short to provide anything worth commenting on. Therefore, I will reserve my comments. However, one good thing Sata is alluding to is how the powers of the president can be clipped so that he does not interfere with constitutional offices such as the Chief Justice etc…This is one area which the reporters should have focused their reporting without any prejudice. This Comedy by SATA can only be ignored at our own peril. If we fail to distinguish between comedians and serious politicians in our country it will be only ourselves to blame after 20th September 2011. I am very confident that we will not make a mistake of selecting people who have very low understanding of Economic, political and national issues. We need serious opposition that is objective and not people who are all out to everything to the point of becoming irrelevant.

  152. On the economic front, ladies and gentlemen there is no quick fix. The gains in economic development are painfully slow. I would wish there was a quick solution to development, but it is an illusion to imagine that politicians are going to just press a button and the economy will move like a car. The gains being made now should be consolidated by sober and realistic politicians with a political will & not sensationalists with their tabloid news media. Magande (former finance minister) acknowledged this and said “the economy just needs fine tuning”.
