Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu says he cannot wait to see the province graduate from the poorest to one the most developed province in the country.

And Provincial Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba has warned that he will not tolerate the miss application of public funds under his administration.

Speaking in Kaoma on Thursday during a stakeholder’s consultative meeting held at the Trades Training Institute hall, Mubukwanu said government is in hurry to bring meaningful development to the Province hence the need for all stakeholders to work together as a team.

Mubukwanu said he is confident that the current least developed province will record significant development by the end of his tenure of office. He said there is need for all stakeholders to participate fully in changing the bad record the province has had for a long time.

“It is possible to bring development to this province, the problem is that in the past people did not take keen interest in putting their heads together, you cannot bring development to any area if you resort to work in isolation” said Mubukwanu.

Mubukwanu thanked Senior Chief Amukena, Chief Mutondo and Chief Kahare for attending the meeting, he said traditional leaders are partners in development hence they should never be left out in discussing programmes aimed at developing the Province.

Meanwhile, Seyuba said misapplication of resources meant for developmental programmes is one of the factors that has contributed to the under development of the province, he revealed that practices ranging from, unretired imprest and fuel misuse have been prominent in the province’s audit reports.

“ I want to state clearly to you all here that I will not condone the abuse of moneys meant for development under my administration, we know all of you that have such tendencies, some of you have been drawing both petrol and diesel for the same vehicle, and you think we don’t know ” Seyuba added.

Seyuba said he will monitor all government resources closely and ensure that funds are utilized as allocated for.

“As the head and controlling officer of all government funds in this province, let me emphasize that moneys meant for developmental projects will be channeled towards that strictly,” he added.

  1. Ndate – the whole Zambia is poor not just WP. That’s why we all need to work to improve the country. There are many ways: agriculutre and agro-processing; tourism; services (e.g. international banking & finance, like Cayman Is., Switzerland or other tax havens); etc

  2. Mubukwanu thats the spirit,if we dont see any change within six months.lu ka ipusa.join hands with Milupi dont side with thieves.

  3. This is a very shallow statement? How does a province develop simply by putting your heads togather? You have not even mentioned of any plans of how you are going to develop except putting heads togather. What kind of leaders do you have in Zambia?

    • Putting heads togather means united we stand separate we fall. I hope this helps you to understand the hiden meaning. when I was sick the doctor asked me if I have friends. You many wonder what friends have got to do with my sickness. Friends drive away home sickness that can degenerate into depression and other freshly apetites

  4. i have great respect for seyuba. while i do not know much of mubukwanu, but going by his pronouncements during the capaigns, i think the combination of the two will give pf govt a torrid time where development of west. province is concerned. lets support them.

    • SAME FEELING HERE BRO. WORKED WITH SEYUBA WHILE AT KCM. I TELL YOU HE WILL DELIVER. HAD THE INDIAN INVESTORS AND OTHER TOP MANAGEMENT RUNNING SO. NIBAMUNA BAJA KA!!!!!

  5. Yes, not those MMD kawalalas. I think MMD should be deregistered. I support that call. Imagine gentlemen, when MMD started, RB and William Tekere Banda were staunch UNIPISTS. Tekere blockaded the MMD at Lwangwa bridge. No one would gop to eastern to campaign. Today they are flashing MMD symbol? That means that MMD is a sham party and they were there just to steal. It must go. It must be deregistered. These are the ones who made Western poor. Can you imagine a district like Kaoma. Its supposed to be like Mkushi. Fertile soil, water etc now look, absolutely no infrastructure there.

  6. If that is the case, then why has the Kalabo to Mongu road been cancelled?  No matter what people say, atleast MMD renovated the Sesheke to Livingstone road which has helped trade greatly. Farming inputs from the previous regime increased food production  more especially rice. Tourism was a growing sector attested by high attendance at the Kuomboka and Kathanga ceremonies as well as the opening of the Liuwa Plains national park where the second largest wildebeest migration takes place. We will see how the current pf administration will build on these positives though I wont be holding my breath!

  7. @5 dont kutina, ma bro, i think the yard stick to measure the pf govt’s perfomance with,in terms of road structures is not now. let them first look at these contracts which they are saying are dubious. then, and only then will we be able to question them and take them to task. if rb can amass and waste (on campaigns) so much money in three years, then we zambians now know how rich this country is and will ask, if not take, this govt. to task. thats as how it should be.

  8. No. 1. The thez a difference between POOR & POOREST. Its not all provinces which are poorest. Thats what the Minister is saying.

  9. @mature

Your internet handle belies your immaturity. What sort of kaponya are you who never listened to the Satanic utterances during the election campaign?  Satan promised to complete the Mongu-Kalabo road within 90 days.  Now it has been cancelled and I don’t think the Chinese will agree to reallocate their money to a repositioned road.  The PFooters will have to find their own money to fulfil their pipedream. Mubukwanu u masipa! Zwelopili ya satani ikazwa kakai? Satani utoile malozi.  Mwendi muzuba matokwani hamoho, nji?

  10. just bomb ‘the ‘rich’ provinces back into the 18 th century, then you will be on top of the league table. you cant develop it using donchi kubeba lies ,never!

  11. Even if the whole of Zambia may be poor, If you have a think tank that works in one province it can develop that province to being a very developed one. We cant say because the whole Zambia is poor all provinces must stay poor. The Western Province team may have a plan that works which all other provinces may want to emulate once the results are out. Iam behind Mubukwanu and Seyuba. Lets your Marshall plan guys!

  12. He did a fine job innhis former role, but the man Mubukwanu has sold his oul for minister pieces of kwacha. What are the indicators that Mubukwanu will base his development on. I do not see any works that point to a changing status? His Govt is at war with the people. The only works of real economic value – Mongu – Kalabo road ‘banned. All roads are simply craters, including the LSK – MG road. People’s mango cheated out of them for dance. Mark my words – Barotseland will only be developed by its sons and daughters. The others take development to their regions, Have you wondered why despite the plans to have a private Lower Zambezi Basin University designed by likes of Lungwangwa, universities have mushroomed elsewhere and the state is putting up in other regions? Look at the big pictire.

  13. foolish, all of you that are throwing bad wards at mubukwanu and seyuba, malao amina, nowander they say that no matter how many times you turn matako will nver saddenly find themselves in front, they will allways stay behind. u fools we are in a new government, that has new ideas and new leaders instead of being matako strive hard to be eyes that will always be in front.

All the 16 contributors to this article are FOOLS. Only u is wise. I think you should love and respect others as everyone has the right to express his/her opinion. Here we just share ideas on the topic in question. Insults will not help you. I have been to Kaoma twice. My last visit was July 2011 and visited Mazabuka, Chikankata. What I saw there is no difference from WESTERN P. It was in 1996 when I find that road situations where deteriorating in the regions especial roads leading to rural areas. Mazabuka home for zambia sugar, roads passing thru the sugar fields are not tarred since 1970s who is to blame??

  15. Kanji waza wobe wa utwa, buthinu bobe.Mubukwanu yo fate is sealed.what dvelpment can you talk about withiout the mongu kalabo road. Are you not ashamed to seat in parliament whn the only project at the heart of the pprovis cancelled?!bo mubukwanu semuba lianganu nimina.bring back st johns like kafue boys still is,bring back holycross like roma girls still is.Mr Mubu dont hurt us like that.

  16. We tell all the well meaning MPs of the west to stay out of parliament for the cancellation of the mongu kalabo road.Stand with the suffering of your people. All roads left by RB in north will be completed but the mongu kalabo road is cancelled and political.thats not fair,be honest people.

  17. Mr milupi pliz identify MPs for you party becuse most of these MPs will get votes of no confidence and by elections will be held.you will get all of them, just disgraced by mubukwanu.
