PF leadership dismayed by Chiefs’ stance on districts re-alignment

The leadership of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Choma, Kalomo and Sinazongwe districts says it is deeply concerned with the hardline position taken by chiefs in the province to oppose the re-alignment of Chirundu and Itezhi-Tezhi districts.

The party is also disturbed that the opposition United Party for National Development(UPND) is mobilizing support within the province to reject Provincial Minister Miles Sampa.

This is according to resolutions of a consultative meeting for PF leaders from the three districts released to ZANIS in Choma today.

Reading out the resolutions, PF District Chairman for Choma Felix Chilufya said the party leaders had gathered to review resolutions of the two recent meeting of chiefs in the province as well as that of

stakeholders who included members of parliament in the province.

He said the PF leadership from Choma, Kalomo and Sinazongwe was saddened at the strong language and threats of violence used by chiefs against the PF government if it went ahead to implement the

re-alignment of Chirundu and Itezhi Tezhi against the traditional leaders wishes.

He noted that chiefs could have engaged government to find out why it had taken such a decision without resorting to threats.

Mr Chilufya said it was also disturbing that traditional leaders who were supposed to be above partisan politics could advocate for violence when the realignment of the two districts was meant to enhance development in the two districts that have been detached from the province administratively.

He said the move by traditional leaders to also issue scathing attacks on government for appointing PF officials as District Commissioners was done without understanding the rationale behind such appointments.

Mr Chilufya said while the PF officials that had been appointed as district commissioners may not possess university degrees, they were qualified enough in their own special way as they understood the PF manifesto better than those with degrees outside the party.

He said PF was more interested in committed leaders who could implement its manifesto.

“They are saying PF has appointed low calibre people as DCs but let them know that it is not University Degrees that matters but one’s commitment to the people’s cause. The PF officials that have been

appointed may have humble educational background but they are committed to the ideals of the party,” argued Mr Chilufya.

Recently, Southern province chiefs who met in Choma urged President Sata to rescind his decision to realign Chirundu and Itezhi Tezhi dsitricts.

Another meeting held in Choma of stakeholders who included members of parliament also resolved to reject Mr Sampa as Provincial Minister.

  1. Mr Chilufya is saying ‘the chiefs could have engaged government to find out why it had taken such a decision’ but he forgets that the president made a unilateral decision without consulting the chiefs and other relevant authorities. We have seen this weakness in the president since assuming office and it’s making him very unpopular in many quarters.

  2. Chilufya all the way from Kolwestan land to come and dictate to the chiefs of Southern province. Useless man….why did Sata not consult chiefs….Very dull fool go and develop chinsali *****.If the president is intelligent should transfer Miles because the guy is not even working but always on the run.

  3. Felix Chilufya , chiefs can not stay silent on such an important matter, it was handled fooolishly unilaterally by your uncle Sata. Not all Zambians think he is a wise as you think

  4. Its hard to understand how Zambians are easily cheated on straightforward issues. Everyone is basing the so called re alignment of districts to administration and development. The rationale behind this thought is so irrational that no one understands except Mr Sata. All PFs supporters cant even explain the economical benefit this will bring. Chiefs are custodians of our land and any issues that deals with land chiefs have to be consulted and not what this misplaced mr chilufya is saying. Lets talk about how best to manage our economy. The Kwacha is depreciating aganist the worlds currencies. Let PF outline its developement agenda for the country unlike focusing on district boundaries. Let PF unite the people that voted for them and bring the desirable development which every Zambian wants

  5. I think this PF cadre must be drunk with tu jilijili , what development advantage and administration is he talking about. Does it make since for a head master fro itezhi tezhi to go and report to kabwe which 564km rather than go to choma which is 97km first of all the headmaster will pass via choma jump on a mazyandu bus to lsk to kabwe, please be realistic u can still develop a district without moving it shaaa . ba kolwestans

  6. This is issue is really troubling me and making me sad,the comments am seeing are even making it worse. We all know that traditional rulers are custodians of the land the Government should sit down with the traditional leaders to resolve this that’s why its a democracy let people talk and let them be heard. The government has made a decision chiefs are objecting let them listen to why they are objecting before thinking of what tribe or party they are.Honestly i expect more from the PF government than this confusion they are creating its very disappointing.

  7. It is unfortunate that the task of correcting the PF has been left to chiefs who should be dealing with matters to do with the welfare of their subjects and not national policy. The opposition, civil society, the church, LAZ and other stakeholders must take this self-serving govt to task. Their attempt to frustrate and exclude the people of Southern Province from matters which affect them is a gross violation of the rights of the people.

In the Second Republic, the UNIP government marginalised certain communities and reduced them to second class citizens. The North Western province is one good example. This type of rule is not acceptable in a modern democracy. If PF are not ready to engage the people of ITT and Chirundu in a meaninful way, then they do not deserve to rule this country.

  8. Mr Chilufya, honestly speaking you lack understanding over governance, therefore in every sense you cannot speak sense at all.Do you actually see the wrongs the president has been making in his descisions without consultation, which clearly pionts out dictatorial tendancies in him. Are you aware that the mess this your preident is about to leave will cost alot of tax payers money to fix, that is why it calls for consultation. The president of Botswana is always consultative with the chiefs when it comes to land issues, this your PF goverment should stop intimidating or issuing threats to people and its chiefs.Dont forget that the same dont kubeba will be played on you and very long, count me on that.

  9. People of s/p should not give in. They might be disadvantaged by some clauses coming up in sata’s new constitution being drafted. Pf is itching for national dominance and will make sure it frustrates the major opposition parties-mmd&upnd

  10. Maindilila nikubakwenu nkubuzya… Lack of consultation lead to this impasse. Where are the area MPs? Did they bring any complaint from the residence for the need to transfer adminstrative offices to those areas suggested by the president?

  11. Felix Chilufya leave this my SP in peace.Go rot in that your Mpika. Why should you be dismayed?Take redrawing of boundaries to those your Muchinga and Mpika where it is a priority issue. This my SP is in need of more schools, clinics…Not dismantling. Many words do not fill a busket,we have said NO

  12. Govt please dialogue with other players for quick development, but players engage govt in a respectable way so that they find it easier to come to the table.Democracy !!!!ya…

  13. Mr Chilufya is saying ‘the chiefs could have engaged government to find out why it had taken such a decision’

Isnt it government or the president to engage the stakeholders?

  14. ***** Chilufya….! u ar very foolish son of a bitch..! who the hell would u want to lecture wen yr own Luapula and Northern province is in shambos..! better go preach yr foolish gospel where u come from. The next time you open yr filth mouth bter know tat u wil be evicted togther with yr USELESS UNCLE MILES FUSAKE SAMPA.Southerners are managing their own affairs…pls find a life for yrself ( mostly in the streets..selling sweets… where yr relatives arer commonly found).

  15. iwe chilufya uli mubwa..toyeeyi..ino ba pf nibatakabuzya balo..zwaa..u are so useless..i wonder what kind of brains you use..!

  16. If PF wants to be taken seriously in SP, they shoul not have Chilufya as a chairman there. It is perhaps prof that it is a tribal party?

  17. obviosly the man (CHILUFYA) is of humble educational background it seems. Myles Sampa is not wanted in Southern Province,in fact he is not wanted as a government minister at all. His tribal profanity would make patriots like Kapwepwe and Mainza Chona, turn in their graves. These freedom fighters worked so tirelessly and threw away regional interests to try to make this country like one country. We are not going to let the likes of His excellency the president and his nephews like Myles Sampa steal away these efforts. Rwandan genocide started as joke like this one, until one minister called a tribe of human beings “cockroaches” and then all demons left hell and went to Rwanda. The rest is history. MR. PRESIDENT, PLEASE OFFER LEADERSHIP ON THIS ISSUE. STOP FANNING IT!

  18. I don’t understand why small tribes in Zambia creates problems where there is none. Honestly speaking, can one Tonga explain to the world what it means to re-align some places. The president is not taking away the land from the chiefs people. You are very difficult people and this is the reason you won’t produce a president because no Bemba can waste a vote on a Tonga. Continue with all the insults because emomukapelela mukutukana and nothing else. We have a president who is a visionary unlike HH your under five in politics.

  19. This Chilufya is a fool hw does he expect chiefs to kneel down to SATA and beg for consultation when it is SATA WHO IS suppose to beg for that, its unfortunate PF supporters hv stoped thinking they just follow what ever say right or wrong this is very dangerous to the nation coz we wil end up destroying the little we have, coz the man in charge has no direction for this country he is jst imposing his imagination in everything. Chief Mwanachingwala is a disappointing traitor who can not trusted anymore

  20. WHO IS MILES SAMPA HEADING IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE? SAMPA IS NOT OUR PROVINCIAL MINISTER AS SOUTHERN PROVINCE. TO HELL WITH HIM! SAMPA AND HIS FELLOW BEMBAS SHOULD KNOW THAT NOT EVEN A SINGLE INCH OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE SHALL BE RE-ALIGNED TO ANOTHER PROVINCE. UNLESS YOU WANT WAR. DON’T RAISE OUR TEMPERS AS SOUTHERNERS. GOVERNMENTS HAVE BEEN NEGLECTING US, BUT WE STILL SURVIVE BY GOD’S GRACE. WE DON’T WANT ANARCHY IN OUR COUNTRY, LEAVE US ALONE. US TONGAS ARE PEACEFUL BUT NOT COWARDS. DO THE RIGHT THING BY LEAVING US ALONE. SAMPA WE DON’T RECOGNIZE YOU. WE REJECT YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE IMPOSED ON US.

  21. Foolish bakolwe. Leav us alone. Who wants our muchinga influence in Southern province. Shiti. We kachilufya if you did not go to school , do not think SP has run short of degree holders. You humble fisherman with a sub B certificate must remain silent. Kamushota where are you .

  22. Sata says chiefs should find out from him why he is grabbing the two districts? And this is coming from a President of a country? What level of reasoning is this? What a shame? How did Sata become President?
