The laws of the land are very clear, homosexuality is not allowed in Zambia-Government

Share

Minister Fackson Shamenda

Government has finally come out to give its position on the on going debate on gay rights ignited by UN Secretary General Ban KI Moon. Chief Government Spokesperson Fackson Shamenda has told a media briefing in Lusaka today that the laws of the land are very clear that homosexuality is not allowed in Zambia.

Mr Shamenda says Zambia will therefore not entertain the amendment of the law to allow for the recognition of gay rights. Mr. Shamenda wonders why the issue of homosexuality has become an issue when the UN Chief raised a number of important issues during his visit other than the issue of gay rights.

Responding to questions by journalists Mr. Shamenda said government will not waste time on an issue that is not of importance. He says there are a number of important developmental issue government can concentrate on instead of debating an issue that is guided by the law.

And the information, broadcasting and labour minister says the allegations made by former vice president George Kunda that the country has become undemocratic under the PF government are calculated at attracting sympathy from the international community on former leaders being probed.

Mr. Shamenda says it is evident that Mr. Kunda is panicking and using the baseless accusations to divert attention from the ongoing crusade against corruption. He says the PF government is committed to upholding human rights, the rule of law and constitutionalism, contrary to Mr. Kunda’s accusations.

Mr. Shamenda has since challenged the former republican vice president to cite a case where former leaders have been harassed and arbitrarily charged with offences outside the due process of the law.

Meanwhile, Mr. Shamenda has advised Mr. Kunda to go ahead and involve the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the matter. He says the PF government will have nothing to hide to SADC because it has all the facts right.

  1. thanx PF.we were waiting for an answer, desparate political leaders were trying to divert our attension on important national issues.they have been shamed.

  2. Well, were are the MMD and UPND i.diots who made it look like the issue had already become law and the president has endorsed it?shame on HH and his gang of tongas who will never ever rule zambia..what a pitiful country full of alarmist and rumour mongers in this century..whats the next accusation now from ?we are waiting has you enjoy your sour grapes.

    • #4, all i can say is iwe niwe chimbwi y involve tongas in this if your gonna mention HH do it but dont put ALL TONGAS in *****ic litttle pathetic useless mind of yours. my mother is a tonga and i dont appreciate your insults. if you dont have anything useful to say SHUT THE **** UP. #BTW the constitution has not yet been finalised so shut up until then.

    • Wait till the end of next week; if there is no reversal by another Minister then you can attack mmd and upnd supporters; when you rush you will crash. Flip-flop!!!

  3. Buty why was it taking long for the governement to state their stance?
There you have it pipo Ban Ki-Gay can go and hang. We are not having anyone dictate to us on our culture just like we dont go to their countries and dictate on their culture.

  4. well said mr minister people are just trying to divert issues it is already known that this practice is not allowed in zambia. Gays and Lesbians are aliens not even dogs can be compared to these insane creatures. PF ALL THE WAY PAMAKA……………….

  5. Let that come from the president himself. We may be comfortable coz Ki-moon had a meeting with him and not the government.

  6. This guy failed to give the minimum wage. Take anything that he says with a pinch of salt. He is currently trying to cool people’s tempers to give room for sneaking this in the new constitutional draft. Note that he has loudly ignored assuring people that the new draft will not include the gay rights.

  7. Well well well PF is finally slowly crawring out of the woodwork ke ke ke ke ke ke ke! How can christanity and homosexuality be a small issue eh! trying to trivialise the issue when it is a serious one. PF knows they are losing populality at a very fast pace. Keep on making mistakes, you will soon be relieved of your jobs, useless kabovas!

  8. Shamenda, why didnt you answer Ban Ki Moon? You were smiling at what he was saying. Going forward, we need to carefully scrutinise the draft constitution to ensure these thugs do not add anything homo in any language.

  9. why taking so long 2 make a comment besides your boss held a press conference the otha day wen he was yet again realigning ministries but didn’t mention a thing abt de gay rights.mr shamenda admit u just are lame duke.

    • its surprising that u did’t think it neccesary that the govt ought 2 hve taken a positon lyk they hve done earlier.is it the homo thot in u that is destructing u in seeing sense in this whole debate?

    • govt needed not to comment because anyone who is familiar with the zambian constitution knows what the govt.’s position would be.

  10. KUNDA RED LIPS JUST KEEP QUIET PF GOVERNMENT IS NOT LIKE YOU MMD WHO ABUSED YOUR POWERS WITH YOUR RB AS YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD RULE FOR EVER. YOUR GOVERNMENT KILLED INNOCENT CHILDERN . ZAMBIANS WERE INSULTED BY YOUR CONTROLLED MEDIA ON A DAILY BASIS, THE POLICE LICKED YOUR ASSES DAY AND NIGHT SUCH THAT THERE WAS NO RULE OF LAW IN ZAMBIA.. SHOWS YOU ARE TRUELY A SICK MAN.WHO NEEDS BED REST.WHERE WAS THE SO CALLED U.N WHEN YOU WERE IN POWER? THE TRUTH STANDS YOU ABUSED YOUR OFFICE AND ZAMBIANS JUAT WONT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH IT. THAT WAS THE MAIN REASON YOU WERE KICKED OUT OF OFFICE BY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE. VIVA PF VIVA SATA.TO HELL WITH MMD AND HH

    • Relax mama. We also don’t know what drug you are taking. Seeing that you are anonymous and GK is known. We don’t know whether you only got a job without any proper qualification. The issue of homosexuality is a big thing esp if you are poor country placing a begging bowl before the pipo in your current nation. And by the way, laws are not cast in stone. I will give you an example of how your good president has overlooked such laws-the firing of the DG of ACC, hiring of unqualified Deputy DG of ACC and the appointment of BOZ governor etc… you know them and we all know them. Mmd and Upnd are not in power so don’t shamuna them.

  11. Finally! Was that so difficult? Don’t let simple things such as this divert pubic attention and earn desperate people political mileage.

  12. Mwanya all u MMD and Tonga bullZ! Shame on you fools! As long as Sata remains a Gift from God,Zambia shall remain a christian Nation! No homo, chapwa! Viva pabwato!

  13. PF have just realized that Zambians won’t tplerate them on homosexuality hence their coming out now pretending that they respect zambian laws. The best time for any government to have come out was when Ban Ki Moon was still in Zambia. I did not realize Sata was such a coward. Any way the truth remains that Sata supports gay rights but he is hitting against the wall of Zambian resistance. That is why he asked the committee on constitution to postpon the constitution draft coming out to June so that they try their level best between now and then to buy as many people as possible to support their pro gay rights position.Fellow Zambians open your hearts and don’t be fooled and decieved again by this Sata and his team like they did before elections.

  14. u are foolish person not have felt the need of the govt 2 put it straight into ban ki mwezi’s face right wen he advocated 4 such useless rights.it beats me that u decide 2 point a finger at mmd n upnd wen u shud have asked 4 clarity on dis serious moral n cultural issue 4rm ur pf.you are myopic in your thinking.

  15. protocol does not permit a govt spokesperson to respond to high dignitary like head of UN without first going thru cabinet.I m sure you can now understand why it took long for the spokesman to make the announcement. Well done PF

  16. PF is underestimating the resolve of the general populace.  This government should stop insulting people’s intelligence when they are in secret talks with Mr Moon to sell Zambia’s “virginity”.

  17. PF just admit you are Gay,atase fi homo mutubepe. We already know its too late ask  Satan

  18. @ # 15,you are sad! Very sad that PF has said no Homosexuality! another frustrated Tonga bull.

  19. well said.

why bothering about an already clear issue when there are far, far more important issues to deal with. Its a waste of energy of everyone who now is talking about gay issues while for example corruption and underpayment is still in every layer of community.

  20. Trust the serpent at your own peril. So far he has not fulfilled any of his promieses and i have no reason to trust he wil do as Shamenda is aying.I would rather trust Ban ki Moon’s statement that “the Govnt has made a principle position to uphold human rights”

  21. Zambians know about the law,its jst that e got worried with your silence about the same.its like the gvt wasn’t decided and if we also kept quiet they where goin to think we r ok with the practice.now they ve even gven an xtra tooth to the law inforcement agencies to continue bringing the culplits to book.or is it bkos the UN has spoken abt the issue?

  22. Hope ba kateka wont force Shamende to reverse this one paragraph statement and consenquently re-align his information ministry to foreign affairs and leave him hanging as minister wa ndevu chabe

  23. Ba simbi Number 4 or what ever you call yourself,If H.H cant rule it doesn’t mean any other tonga cant rule.Stop abusing tongas give us a break we are tired of all this rubbish.H.H is not all tongas we deserve some respect. We are Zambians like any other and we honestly have taken these insults for a long time cant H.H name be mentioned without involving the Tonga people as whole.

  24. Ba simbi Number 4 or what ever you call yourself,If H.H cant rule it doesn’t mean any other tonga cant rule.Stop abusing tongas give us a break we are tired of all this rubbish. We are Zambians like any other and we honestly have taken these insults for a long time cant H.H name be mentioned without involving the Tonga people as whole.

  25. The BIBLE states that a man will leave his father and mother to unite with his wife and become one.It did not mention of a man to man to become one.Lets do according to God’s will. When is this Government going to announce the minimum wage? And i see this hating to see the Minister of Labour being quiet about it why?His he going to help us the workers or our Employers and what does it mean more money in our pockets, when we dont have or has it changed in to more money in their pockets?CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS HAPPENING PLEASE!

  26. Kunda needs to be cited for trying to divert the case that’s already under investigation. Why is he so desperate he prosecuted FTJ no one ever reported to the UN.He knows what’s smelling cause he cooked it before. What goes around comes around.Sleepless nites for GK you can see it how he looks he knows what’s coming he is a lawyer but he should not dent Zambia’s image abroad.

  27. I PROMISED YOU MONEY(MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKETS)IF YOU WORSHIP AND ENTHRONE ME AND YOU ACCEPTED.YOU MUST NOW PAY THROUGH THE RISE IN EVIL PRACTICES LIKE SODOMY. RAPE, INSULTS, RIOTS, HATRED, LAWLESSNESS, DIVISIONS, HUMAN BLOOD SACRIFICES THROUGH UNPRECEDENTED ACCIDENTS, MURDERS AND SUICIDES COUNRTYWIDE SINCE 20TH SEPTEMBER. THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKETS. I HATE UNITY AND LOVE. ZAMBIA IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION. IT IS A SATA AND MONEY NATION.

  28. Hakarat al-shabaab al mujahideen UP and Down Tribal party for tongas only. still leaving in shaka zulu’s time and forgetting that wer in the 21st century. these tonga tribalists r nt different from those in terrorists in somalia

  29. u are a foolish boy to take me 4 a tonga bull wen i am objectively contributing 2 a debate, why did it take the whole of the govt many days 2 give a simple bt important statement lyk the way shamenda has done given that ban ki mwezi stirred up pipo’s emotions?think logicaly n let not triblism blind u 2 reality.its sick 2 associate an objective view lyk mine wit tribe.4 ur info am 4rm mporokoso.

  30. Oh men.! The same PF thru Micheal Sata said that “LAWS ON HOMOSEXUAL AND GAYISM ARE ALREADY THERE,AL WE NEED IS TO IMPLEMENT THEM“ so now which is which Mr Shabeard. Brally hell.!!!

  31. What an embarrassment to MMD, HH and his Tonga followers. That is why we say HH is not matured Politically. How do they accuse PF as if it has powers to make and change laws.I know they were used to see MMD manipulate laws of the Land but this is not the case with our beloved Party Power for the People, the party of Kaponyas as you call us. We are very proud of being called Kaponyas for your own information.

  32. Thanks PF for the clarification. We were begining to lose confindence in this gvt.
Bwana Shamenda Gay issues are not small issues in Zambia. You can be voted out of gvt just on basis of your so called small issue.

  33. This response is NOT authentic. Why is Sata still mute after Mr. Ki Moon revealed what transpired during his private meeting with Sata? Anyway, Zambians are notorious for being too docile.

  34. So what was all the fuss about?????? Government position was predictable – we are Africans and are by culture homophobic.

Studies have shown that banning abnormal sexual orientation (or anything else like marijuana ) usually results in in sympathy for the part-takers and a rise in the activity. People reason that if it is illegal, it must be good!!!! People will now practise abnormal sexual behavior under the radar ( “Donchi kubeba” ), and now more intensely because it is illegal. Thank you for popularising homosexuality and lesbianism !! Would have been better to just keep quiet and get on with more important things.

  35. I wonder why we are even wasting time talking about abaume abashakwata amano, lets talk and debate development.

  36. Not so long ago, people thought that black people were less human. Yes, that was the case even here in Zambia. They even used the word of God in the Bible to support it. Today this has not changed much, but legally black people have been given their rights on paper.
It is interesting that we are denying each other our rights and being disrespectful to each other. We even used God’s word to support our bigotry. If we continue on this path it will give substance to those people that do not believe that we are humans. Let’s give up discrimination, tribalism, xenophobia and many vices that we do. The UN Chief had a very important message with him. His objective was for us to avoid similar situation as that in Uganda, which would severely tarnish the image of our beautiful country

  37. WHAT DID I TELL YOU? PF IS NOT GOING TO WASTE TIME ON AN ISSUE WHICH IN FACT NOT AN ISSUE. PF IS ALWAYS GOING TO CONCENTRATE ON DEVELOPMENTAL REAL ISSUES SUCH AS REALIGNMENT, CAPACITY-BUILDING, PLANNING AND THEN IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS. YAPPING WITHOUT REASONING IS THE LOSERS- THE HHs.

  38. DR MANASSEH PHIRI SHOULD GO TO CHURCH FOR DEMONIC DELIVERANCE OR PRIVATELY SEE TB JOSHUA FOR DELIVERANCE FROM GAYISM.GAYISM IS A DEMON FROM THE PITS OF HELL., HIS KNOWLEDGE IN MEDICINE IS TOO SHALOW TO UNDERSTAND DEMONIC POSSESSION. ZAMBIA IS FOR JESUS AND BIBLE PRINCIPLES.

  39. #5 BUSHE MULOMFWA CISUNGU. THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS IN THE MINISTER’S EXPLANATION. HE SAID THEY HAVE BETTER THINGS TO WASTE TIME ON. THE LAWS OF ZAMBIA IF VISITED WILL TELL YOU THAT HOMOSEXUALITY HAS NO PLACE IN ZAMBIA. THATS WHAT HE SAID.

  40. #30. I AGREE WITH YOU. ZAMBIANS CAN’T DEBATE REALISTICALLY. JUST SAY HH AND NOT INCLUDING THE ALL TONGAS. IF HH FAILS TO REASON AS HE IS AT THE MOMENT, IT DOESN’T INCLUDE THE ALL TONGAS. ITS REALLY BEING FOOLISH AND CHILDISH TO MENTION A TRIBE IN WHATEVER ONE SAYS. I THINK DEBATE MUST BE COMPULSORY IN ALL SCHOOLS IN ZAMBIA.

    • I dont think that cigarettes and achlool are worse than coca-cola.. actually they are not. I’m not preaching you not to enjoy your life, just said that Coca Cola is VERY bad for your health. I myself was not aware of it, and used to drink a lot, until I got wise and learn and read about the damange. By the way -? Coca Cola is especially bad for females, even more than males because of their bone structure.

  41. YAKUMBUYO should not be imposed on the Zambian people in return of expensive loans and grants from europe. It’s not in our culture and those trying entice our people should go to hell as mugabe said. Those who prefer to use the window and not the door should not be discriminated against but at the same time, should not be allowed to impose it on others.

  42. As an Ethicist and Philosopher I always want to ask why is this wrong and that good? What is the basis for this law? Why is homosexuality criminal? I am waiting to hear the WHY not just because the law says so, that is a circular argument. In other words why does the State see it fit to criminalize homosexuality?

  43. Well thanks for making clear PF position on this matter. However, it is true the govt of PF is undemocratic let us make reference to
    1. formation of Muchinga Province with no consultation – the colonal style of politics was used
    2. re-arranging of districts – equally no conusltations
    3. appointing people who are clearly do not qualify for certain positions —- ACC, in foriegn missions, DCs; appointments being based on tribe
    4. disrespecting other poeples views or put simply the level of Intolerance is alarming
    5. unilately making decisions on street vending and the Unruliness which has followed
    6. the changing of ministries without due regard to constitution
    7. the use of party manifesto as a reference document to Supersede the National constitution

  44. All zambians have rights either male or female the way they were created or born, and there is no problem, some people want extra rights eg to steal commit adultery sleep with fellow men and women

  45. Pathological thievs hav come out in open now, Why are Bemba (kolwestans) like this? Anyway its just embeded in their blood, “some1 is stealing ati ntolelefye -shameless creatures from one bustad criminal….I ecourage u guys to use yo brains when making judgemnent on issue of national development….Tribalism u the same chaps pioneering it bamakaka….nkateni amano…….

  46. I implore all Zambians to extra vigilant and very alert regarding this stupid issue of sex between men. It appears the GVT isn’t sincere on homosex. Why wait so long to state the obvious?! eh!! So Mugabe has more balls than our cobra, neh! Ban ko moon would never have thought of going to Zimbabwe to peddle disgusting filth to an intelligent nation. Zimbabwe’s, Nigeria or Uganda’s position is clear on homosexuality. We should emulate them and stop the hypocrisy. We must discourage these stupid UN punks from coming to our beloved land.

  47. Are there no other important issues for the Zambian government to deal with rather than to discuss men and men or women and women sleeping together? I despair for the small sub saharan country called Zambia where I was born and I remain a citizen!

  48. tizamvelako….why allow Ki-Moon to talk about this trash in the first place. Mr. President be careful with these International Leaders. They can coerce you at some point and make you agree on somethings we might consider barbaric in the Nation. Kaya timvweko….tumfweko.com

  49. LOOK AT THIS CHI SPOKSPERSON OF SATA?VERY?U SHUD EXPLAIN PROPERLY TO THE PIPO OF ZAMBIA OTHERWISE!!!!!!!LET 2016 COME.

  50. Those who are practicing homosexuality needs councelling or mental therapy. There is no human value in homosexuality, so how does it quality to be a human right. Lets support rights that will improve human life and not that which will turn human beings into creatures worse than dogs or any animal, because even animals know how to handle sexual apeptites. Very soon we’ll be hearing of ponography addicts claiming their rights as well. Moon is a hypocrit

  51. Someone should explain the relation of the laws on the Criminal Code, with respect to the Zambian Constitution (of 1996), which has an extensive anti-discrimination clause in article 23:

    23. [Protection from discrimination on the ground of race, etc.]

    (1) Subject to clauses (4), (5) and (7), no law shall make any provision that is discriminatory either of itself or in its effect.

    (2) Subject to clauses (6), (7) and (8), no person shall be treated in a discriminatory manner by any person acting by virtue of any written law or in the performance of the functions of any public office or any public authority.

  52. (Continued…)

    (3) In this Article the expression “discriminatory” mean, affording different treatment to different persons attributable, wholly or mainly to their respective descriptions by race, tribe, sex, place of origin, marital status, political opinions colour or creed whereby persons of one such description are subjected to disabilities or restrictions to which persons of another such description are not made subject or are accorded privileges or advantages which are not accorded to persons of another such description.

  53. Throwing mad at each other is the worst that Zambians are doing today. Why can’t we just discuss real issues without bringing in issues on tribal lines. We all are all one nation and we love each other, thats the best way to go.

  54. God did not creat Adam and James or Eve and Christine; but adam & Eve and God was very wise by doing so. Since when did mental sickness become human rights please Mr. Mwezi.:o

  55. # 72 so then why where Adam and Eve said to have sinned after they had sex? i just can’t stand mr Shamendas filthy beards…

  56. It is amazing how some people reason and argue, with so much disrespect to logic and wisdom.
Homosexuality is wrong because it is SIN, and should not be allowed in Zambia.
Shcking to see some people argue that religion should not be used on the issue; well suppose all zambians were all non-christians. Homosexuality would still be wrong because it is jusk like other wrongs like adultery.
Human rights tell you that if two people agree to do something and it does not affect anyone, then it is OK. From this point of view homosexuality can never be right, because it will always, just like adultery, affect someone.

  57. #74 Contd..
If you wife agrees with some man and the two decide to commit adultery, why are you as husband offended, when the two have agreed – why are you affected?
This question is the same as, if your daughter or son or brother, or sister is involved in homosexuality why are you offended as parent or brother or etc??
These two questions are the same – i.e. if it is justfiable for a husband to be offended with his adulterous wife by virtue of his relationship with the wife, then the father entitled to be offended by his homosexual son by virtue of his relationship with his son.
Therefore, in the context of africa (and probably everywhere in the world) it is not possible to prove that there is no single person offended by an act of homosexuality committed by someone.

  58. #75 Contd..
This means that if a person commits adultery it is not impossible in court to prove that there is atleast one person offended ; the husband of course (who is the closet relation will be offended). Therefore the act is an infringement and an offence.
The same, if a person commits homosexuality, it is not impossible in court to prove that there exists atleast one person offended; the father/mother or children or siblings etc (who are closet relatives). Once this is established, then according to law, it is an infringment and therefore an offence.
Can anyone here tell me that if two people committed homosexual acts and were discovered, they would prove that no single person would be affected or offended?

  59. #76 Contd..
If the husabands are entitled to be offended by their adulterous wives because of their relation, then parents and relatives are equally entiltled to be offended by their homosexual relative because of the relation they share.
My conclusion is that even when you choose to be weaked and remove God in the picture, society still condemns the act of homosexuality in the same way, with the same effects as adultery.
Therfore let us not talk like empty tins!!!!!!!!!

  60. As much as I understand PFs position on this issue, we should ALL look at it from a bsaic and general perspective. True, the constitution is very clear on gay rights and all. But at the same time, there’s also something called HUMAN RIGHTS people. Like it or not, every human being has the “right” to do and be whatever they (whether intentionally or not) choose to be. Anyone gay should have the same rights as the non-gays. I for one don’t mind gays, as long as you don’t bring that sh*+ to me. Let’s respect and value individuals’ rights…human rights at that. This issue deserves a thorough and open debate from both sides. MY OPINION!

    • The issue of human rights i find to be very complex indeed. What next are we going to have animal rights too. I think one should come up with some sort of bill of rights which would specify the rights of the citizens. The issue of human rights is too general. We cant have it all otherwise no one would govern. I am very puzzled your piece; whether intentionally or not????????? It means we have the right to do wrong, rape someone if possible. Thats the problem with the concept of human rights its too generalised.

  61. #77 Contd..

And our capable minister DELIBERATELY chose to ignore the use of LOGIC.
How can Shamenda whom we hold in high esteem ask why people are not discusiing developmental issue, poverty etc. Shocking to hear him pretend he does not like use of logic when we know he is a wise, logical and reasonable man all along.
All Zambians are agreed that we need development, including poverty alleviation and all other good things Ki-moon talked about. What Zambians do not agree with is the issue of homosexuality and that is where the contraverse is. Why should normal people choose to argue about the 9 things theys are agreed to and not to argue about the ONE thing they are not agreed?
Even at holywood this logic is not applicable.

  62. 80 Contd…

And one man says the same bible that says we should not commit homosexuality also says no adultery, or fornication. They ask why zambians are not discussing these other sins but only too much talk about homosexuality.
I hope this guy is not related to the minister -shamenda. All zambians are agreed that adultery, defilement and fornication are bad and the constitution condemns them and acts are always condemned. And no one has suggested that we start acknowledging defilers’, adulterous’ and fornicators’ rights – So where should the argument arise from about these??
The reason why homosexuality is being talked about is that someone has suggested that we change what we have agreed about it and accept it a a right!! If you cant hear what I have said you are impossible.

  63. Once again “good Christians” showing their true feelings of intolerance…just as they believe Christ told them to. How sad…these are the people that need prayers.

  64. No normal Christian will encourage people to sin and then pray for them.

In the same way no any normal person will encourage people to do the very things he is lobbying against.
To me that sounds like a person who does not no where he is going, or whether he is going or coming or sitted.

  65. Just like no normal society would say let us put in our constitution that stealing is OK.
But let us pray for the theives to stop stealing.
That would be total brain/action mismatch.
Even Jesus did not condemn the woman caught in adultery; instead he forgave her sin and told her,
    “GO SIN NO MORE!!!”
Jesus did not say because I love you I will embrace you, and you have the right to continue sinning I will still love you NO!!!!!
“STOP IT, GO SIN NO MORE”
That is christianity, not telling people, “you are free to sin, it is allowed, but I will be praying for you while you sin, its okay!!” – WHERE does that thinking come from, if at all it is called ‘thinking’??????

  66. ACCEPTING and ACKNOWLEDGING are two very different terms. I acknowledge the fact that, our societies are constantly changing. People, like things are constantly changing too. I accept you my brother and/or sister who is GAY. Do I accept it? Well, no but I believe that you have the right to be what you say you are, whether Zambia is a christian nation or not. While some of you are busy “preaching”, you should re-look into your own heart, seriously.

  67. PF supporters/muppets are a sorry lot! They insult Tongas and yet their Chief Government Spokesperson is from the same tribe! Dull people always think their tribe makes them wise! A Kaponya is a Kaponya regardless of tribe!

  68. You say society keeps changing, I totally agree with you.
One day thieves will champion their rights, adulterous people will champion their rights. Are we going to accept adulterers’ rights only when they keep away from our wives, or even when they make our wives their primary objects???

  69. This is a non issue. If the govt was introducing a bill to change the law on homosexuality then it would be an issue.

  70. The more I read the hateful, well, actually, WELL beyond hateful and bordering on psychotic comments from various heterosexuals here it occurs to me that the ‘intrinsically disordered’ sexual orientation is not the group society has labeled as such but rather is the group doing the labeling all along.

  71. I realise that for some people contributing to this discussion is a matter of a “hobby”.
It is hard to see their clear input or objectivity.
For some it is to pass time and not to give any helpful and constructive message.
For others, it is to defend “wrong” whatever it takes, at all costs.

  72. Please, DO NOT, impose your personal religious beliefs on others. A real christian know this to be true! Some of your comment here are way off the mark – I don’t get your logic neither do I feel inclined to even try. We all know that our Zambian constitution is far from being realistic and fair. My opinion is that, it is unbalanced in many aspects and very old. Accepting a friend or family member who happens to be “gay’ is your personal choice. So much is to be said about Zambia being a so-called “christian nation”. Human rights….where do you draw the line if infact there’s even a line?

  73. Let all the lines between gay, humnn rights, religion, christianity etc. be drawn – but the question remains, are you convinced that homosexually is a good thing which you can proudly to recommend to your children, your siblings, your relative and friends??
If your answer here matches the conviction of your ‘heart’ then mark yourself ‘right’ if not mark yourself ‘wrong’.
    I end here!!!

  74. Let all the lines between gay, humnn rights, religion, christianity etc. be drawn – but the question remains, are you convinced that homosexuality is a good thing which you can proudly recommend to your children, your siblings, your relatives and friends??
If your answer here matches the conviction of your ‘heart’ then mark yourself ‘right’ if not mark yourself ‘wrong’.
    I end here!!!

  75. To the BEMBA muppets and FRAGGLE rock Dwellers. Not Wise Bembas like Nine CHALE, just the ones that think Zambia is theirs and back every other thing the PF government does. Yes the bible says be quick to listen and slow to speak, this the head of government and parliament should have waited till the third day then told Kim MOON that Zambia shall stand by God and respect his statutes; or as SATA put it swearing in as president day, rule with the TEN COMMANDMENTS. I am tired of Tongas, Bembas and Lozi’s fighting. Thus MIYANDA for president.

  76. SHAMENDA, ARE YOU SURE YOU CONSULTED YOUR BOSS?? Anyway,, nothing to worry about, we will know very soon when you’re re-aligned.

  77. We just copy western world lifestyle, its has nothing to do with inborn.
I’m a yo nigga I copied it from channel O and 2pac music.

  78. @96 – wise people, you’re like a bitter pastor who’s lost his flock. The question you asked is a rhetorical one. No, I am not… “convinced that homosexuality is a good thing” according to your post above. Who in his/her right mind would proudly recommend being a homosexual or gay their children? You sound tormented. Where you ever abused as a child? If you have a kid, I’d hate it for you if one day that child tells you he/she is gay. You’ll probably KILL yourself huh? I said it before, the choice is yours…it is really a choice to accept or not accept gays or homosexuals. Just don’t shovel your beliefs based on your misguided thoughts, down my throat. I see so many of you hypocritical wanna be holier than thou mislead christians everyday. You all need more prayer than anyone.

  79. Well, we should wait to hear it from the president, he may have the ‘correct’ position. We have seen that during the last five months, haven’t we?

  80. con’t. As for human rights, why do you choose to ignore them. You do know what human rights are…right? You know, the right to worship, the right to say what you want, the right to belong to any religious group of your choice…you know. Those rights. Zambia belongs to the UN. The UN recognizes the rights of all individuals. Now, let’s table that!

  81. Mwanawakwitu #98, while you are busy hating the Bembas, they are busy progressing. That is the agony of concentrating on hating things you cannot gather up and identify. Get a life, move on and do your best. I am sure when any other tribe takes charge of state house you will still say they are Bemba because you are so obsessed with finding an excuse why you are a LOSER. In the meantime, whoever can, please grab a constitution and read the provisions there. There is no need to speculate outside of the laid down statutes.

  82. Why is he smiling with his tie loosed?
makes you think if the picture was full lenght, you wouldnt be surprised to find the driver of that 4×4 bent over below him…..

  83. Ok Zambia, I hope China is willing to give you aid, visas, and import preferences, because so long as being Gay is illegal, you’re going to have all of those gradually reduced.

  84. The hand of the Lord has prevailed. We will stay vigilante and alert and will not allow any abominations to be included in the constitution. We speak the blood of Jesus over the draft constitution and we declare that there will be no evil clauses introduced to the constitution. May the Lord give grace to those who are working on the constitution to resist the temptation of the love of money and not to sell our country to perversion, in Jesus name amen!

  85. We dont need Europe ,China is the super power and they dont know Gays or homosexuality ,so we are cool.Mugabe said keep you Britain i will keep my zimbabwe ,I say keep your Europe we will live with China

  86. What is the horses mouth itself saying . I remember nkandu luo saying NO street vending. From the horses mouth street vending allowed coz we don’t want to be unpopular.

  87. #102 Mupondo,
If i were you i would never tell anyone to feel free to use a path where i know that there is a dangerous wounded buffalo.
In my opinion it is wrong to tell other people to be free to do what I know is not good.
if you know the food is bad, why would you tell people to feel free to eat under the pretext that it is their choice to do so???
I realise that the reason why we will never agree on many things is the way we reason.
I reason that if I know something to be bad i will not advise other people to feel free to get it – and i am convinced my reasoning is OK.
Another person reasons that even if you know something or food is bad, you can go ahead and ecourage or advise others to eat it as long as they have made a choice. They too feel they reason very well. Oh my!

  88. sata is a man of God,a true christian, viva tata sata.pf forever until the coming of christ jesus amen children of God;;;.

  89. This is a blow to democracy. The only other school of thought that this can be compared with is Fundamentalist radical Islam. We have proved ourselves to be rather hypocritical. We might as well stop calling ourselves democratic. We are a fundamentalist christian theocracy so lets stop pretending to be rational free-thinking beings.

  90. It’s okay now! We need not raise dust unnecessarily! Right reasoning with a cool mind and a peaceful heart will direct to the valid truth sought after. Wisdom is made manifest by one’s speech. And someone’s integrity is measured by the score of, at least, some consistence in self-expression in in day-to-day living. This does not mean the score should be 100%. But there are degrees in integrity to each one.  (Some food for thought.)
