National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba has demanded that government stops former President Rupiah Banda from traveling to the United States before he answers to corruption allegations leveled against him.
Dr. Mumba has told Qfm that Mr. Banda should prove his innocence to the investigative wings.
He has also appealed to the security wings to expedite investigations into the alleged corrupt activities involving the former President.
And Dr. Mumba has lifted the suspension of former party secretary general Kelly Walubita and further appointed him as his special assistant for press and public relations.
He says the decision has been arrived at following the meeting of the party’s national executive committee in Lusaka yesterday convened to discuss the fate of Mr. Walubita.

Does travelling stop investigative wings from investigating RB. Moreover he has been around since September why hasn’t he been charged if he has committed any wrongs. Like one diplomat said, people are just saying RB was involved in corrupt activities yet no specific charges have been brought up.

The International Community has recognised RB as a true democrat following the way he handed over power to PF. Ba Mumba you do not have any evidence of those corruption charges you are talking about otherwise if RB was a time waster he could even contemplate of suing you for defamation of character. Friendly advise concentrate on selling your manifesto to the voters and leave RB, the career DIPLOMAT alone.

The perception we give the world is like Zambia is the most corrupt nation. When you make it in Zed you must be corrupt (or you are labelled a Satanist) and you have to declare how you got your assets. Why can’t we then come up with laws that will give you a limit as how much wealth you can acquire lawfully and make a declaration thereafter of how you acquired the extra. Maybe we can leave some genuine people alone (by intruding into their privacy, if it will make Zambians happy).
As for Banda, has anyone ever wondered why the Mpundu Flats are almost done if at all her got them illegally? Cosmic Mumba maybe you can ask the govt why its dragging its feet.

@Mwanawakwitu, is RB the one conducting investigations or is it the law enforcement agencies? If it RB then I think he should not have gone to the States but if it is the LEAs then he (RB) is free to go where ever, because once they find anything incriminating then they call upon him to avail himself to either the ZP, ACC or DEC so that they arrest and charge him. They will then present him to the courts and that will be it. But this thing of people saying that he (RB) should not leave Zambia until the LEAs investigate a case which may be non-existent in facts but in illusion is extremely absurd. Look at what has happend to Dr. S. Miti, just because he was mentioned by someone somewhere, not even in court his life has come to end. This is not justice-a person is innocent til proved guilty
