Guy Scott describes speculation on Sata’s India visit as nonsense, Nevers Mumba questions the secrecy of the trip

Vice President Guy Scott has described as nonsense speculation in some sections of online media that President Michael Sata trip to India yesterday is on medical grounds.

Dr Scott was responding to a question by Kamfinsa Member of Parliament Moses Chishimba during the vice president’s question time who wanted to find out the circumstances under which the President left for India in order to dispel speculation.

He told the house that he knew of the President’s planned private visit to India a week ago. Dr Scott however stated that it would not be surprising if President Sata took the opportunity during his visit to India to have a medical checkup.

The Speaker however reminded the vice president that the word nonsense was unparliamentary.

And MMD presidential Aspirant Nevers Mumba has questioned the secrecy surrounding president Michael Sata’s to India. Dr. Mumba has wondered why the Zambian government is seemingly secretive on the head of state’s trip to Asia.

He says it is important that the movements of the president are kept as open as possible to avoid speculation.

Dr Mumba says protocol demands that the people of Zambia who elected the president into office are told where the president is going days before his travel.

He says since the president uses tax payers money for all his expenses, his movements are supposed to made public.

And Dr. Mumba has warned that the PF Government will leave power faster than it came if it ignores the concerns of the Zambian people.

He has cited the lack of consultation by the PF government as one factor that can cost the PF in the 2016 elections.

Dr. Mumba says the PF government ought to be aware that the people of Zambia have the power to change any particular government.

Dr. Mumba has further accused the Patriotic Front government of fighting corruption from State house.

He observes that the fight against corruption by the current government seems to be vindictive other than serving its true purpose.

He was speaking this morning on Let the People Talk monitored by QFM NEWS in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, the vice president said that there is no connection between the heavy presence of soldiers and Police in Mongu and the planned Barotse national council consultative meeting scheduled for 26th March to 28th March.

Dr Scott has also cautioned the opposition against inciting the people of western province by the mere presence of defence and security personnel in Mongu.

    Nevers is right. Voters and tax payers deserve to know what their tax money is being spent on. This is accountability.

I personally do not like the president but people like you should be in the forefront of praying for him instead of discussing things that have no impact on our economy. Anyway nevers has never said anything sensible from the time he started appearing in the media.     The Indians can even kill a few specimen to find a matching kidney when they smell money. So a matching kidney with a bit of coughing cash is almost a certainity.

  36. So the VP has confirmed that HEMCS has gone for medical checkup: “Dr Scott however stated that it would not be surprising if President Sata took the opportunity during his visit to India to have a medical checkup.” I hoped HEMCS would use UTH as opposed to travelling.
    Since this is a private visit, we can assume that he has not gone to convince Indian doctors to come here, or for them to open up factories. India has not suffered any disasters so he is not there to pay respects.
    The logical conclusion is that his sole purpose for this trip is purely medical.
    It is perfectly fine for Head of State to see doctors. Why the secrecy?

What is making people to speculate is the secrecy surounding the president’s movements which to most people appear to be unplanned and uncodinated.Govt must be on top of things and provide infomation to people in a timely manner.Govt shud stop re-acting to online publications and be ahead of events. As for heavy police prescence in Mongu, Scott shud not belittle and undermine the intelligence of our people when he says police prescence in Mongu has nothing to do with the planned BNC meeting.What nosense is this coming from a V.P. It an open secret that the security personel have been deployed to intimidate the Lozi people so that they become divided and when there is confusion then this will be an excuse to kill innocent people.We are following these events closely. Tax payers have the right to know all this. Just saying the man will be there for a couple of days does not make sense. If he suddenly felt unwell in Botswana he would have been attended to in one of that country’s excellent medical facilities or alternatively taken to the famous Milpark across the border, less than half an hour away by air. I must admit though that the drama we are witnessing in Zambia on a daily basis is record breaking.

In any case we would want him to rule his full term up to 2016 so that we have good basis for comparison of our five presidents.   64. We hear the face saver of Mr Sata Dr Guy Scott in defending the acts of failure to govern and impotency of PF govt. Mr Sata is on record mounting pressure on MMD govt to disclose the health status of the then president late Mwanawasa while taken ill. Sata made political capital out of it and every Zambian questioned his morality when he requested the speaker of parliament to tell the nation about the president’s illness. It is with this in mind that we request Dr Guy Scott to tell the nation what type of sickness is Mr Sata suffering from and why this has not been disclosed to the nation? We know that deception is virture withi the ideology of PF govt. However, covering lies upon lies eventually exposes liars. We hope Dr Scott can avoid being labeled as such as his boss is.

    There is a lot that we didnt know about sata that pipo close to him like FTJ knew. Similarly, there was a lot that South Africans didnt know about Zuma that pipo close to him like mbeki knew.  What is common is that they all opposed these guys attempt to be presidents.
