Investigation of MMD members for corruption is not harassment-Kabimba

Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba says the MMD should not view the investigation of its members for corruption as harassment.

Reacting to the decision by the MMD not to join in celebrating Africa Freedom day on 25th May citing harassment of its members by alleged PF cadres, Mr Kabimba says the ruling party will respect the decision by the opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) to shun the Africa freedom day celebrations.

The former ruling MMD has deliberately set 25th May, 2012 as the date for its provincial conventions, stating that there is nothing to celebrate about when its youths are being harassed by alleged PF cadres.

Mr. Kabimba says no one will force the MMD to join in the celebrations but that they should realize that Africa freedom day is not about the Patriotic Front but for Africa as a continent.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with QFM, Mr. Kabimba wonders what harassment the MMD is talking about when it was a worse experience for the PF in opposition under the MMD rule.

  1. This is also abuse of office by Wynter Kabimba. If the law was to be followed well, he is not in the right position to be commenting on certain issues because he is not part of the government. Why cant he let appropriate cabinet ministers issue such statements? Thats why we say that in the PF government every has his own powers to utter anything that satisfies his throat. His job is just to look at how the party is being organized not the government

    • Spot on my man..i was also wondering why this dull lawyer keeps on vomitng trash in our papers pretending to be part of government when he is just a party cadre. Shame on PF that the word protocol and hierachy is not familiar to them..i want my vote back..useless government..by the way, my uncle just died 2 days ago in chipata..i request the president to send me 100litres of fuel since he is so generous

  2. Yes, Kabimba you party is full of hullinganism. What happened with HH? Your party is too kaponyaish to a point of failing to reason with brains and hence resorting to violence. Look at the level of debate even among some of your ministers;
    1. Uncle Bob Debasing Kwacha will return the value of kwacha to the 60’s value
    2. Kambwili; Chinase marry the Zambia women
    3. Miles: Tribe X can only rule if they marry bembas
    4. The main Boss; useless report, dullest economists, five shops in some country, you cannot negotiate with PF govt because your province is on a weaker side, some cheif expert on constitution making… the list is endless. Hence you do not mind even if there is no unit in the country.

  3. Whats winter kabimbas position in government. As far as im concerned, this man is only the secretary general of the ruling party but he seems to be more vocal than ministers.

  4. @Ba ZED poor people…..MMD lads stole…even if they refuse to attend the celebration….they robed this nation..i wonder why you even call yoursel by that name coz you are an ***** who doesnt even care about the suffering masses….your brain is just full of waste…ATASE…abantu balecula because of MMD and you are commenting like that…

    • I don’t think he is right. Kabimba and Ukwa have grown with violence. We’ve not forgetten and they have taught youths in MMD and then PF to behave the same.

  5. Lets be level headed, politics aside, MMD leaders went to town looting and plundering public resources a vice which has continued. I have no sympathy for thieves who steal and abuse public funds and property at the the expense of the majority poor Zambians who do not have good roads, inadequate farming inputs, medicines and health equipment, low salaries for workers, high school fees, few school places etc. They can stay away from such functions as long as they want, they won’t be the first and definately not the last, I wish MMD can just go into oblivion like UNIP-good riddance to bad rubbish. MMD leaders have no moral rights to even complain.

  6. Wynter Kabimba is not the right person who should be commenting on this, he should concentrate on PF party matters and allow the rightful government officials handle this. Kabimba is too much of an old school politician who can’t differentiate between the party and the government. That said, investigation of ‘MMD members for corruption’ is intimidation – if he had said ‘investigation of anyone for corruption’ is not intimidation, I would have agreed with him. I would put it to him that by their definition, the recent single-sourcing of Apollo to renovate State House is an act of corruption and should be investigated immediately, regardless of party affiliation.

  7. Our Powerful SG,well said, your statements are gorgeous.Keep it up we are with you,,,you really articulate well on issues of national interest..

  8. Timely warning to PF- same measure and dosage awaits you once you are out of power- hope you behave and keep the long fingers to yourselves, the stage has been set, all thieves to be prosecuted irrespective of title or position. MMD digging their own grave, goodbye thieves, we never enjoyed your rule.

  9. Blah, blah, blah. What morals do you have yourselves after lying to the public to win the elections with deception? And single-sourcing a minister’s company for State House repairs is that leaving you on high moral ground? Useless yapping.

  10. Actually investigations of corruption should go to lower ranks of govt, that is where most of the stealing takes place. The accounting staff in all govt depts need to be investigated thouroughly, and then you will see how much big fish you will net. Getting back public resources which was fraudalently gotten is not harrassment, Winter or Summer or whatever he is called, he is spot on, every well meaning Zambian should support and help fight corruption. MMD are just ashamed of their past bad deeds.

  11. @Balanced View, PF’s time is also coming, we are keeping stock of what they are doing, both promises and deeds- nothing lasts forever. For now, Winter’ point about fighting corruption is valid and we want to see results, not just another time and resource wasting venture like we saw in the past Tsk Force on Corruption.

  12. A long journey starts with one step. Winter is spot on, we need to stump out corruption and the time is now. We do not care whether MMD boycotts African freedom or not. They (MMD) forced UNIP to boycot the 1996 General Election. Let them be,at least our expenses will be reduced. Thanks to MMD.

  13. viva pabwato! you haters whether u like it or not we are rulling. wait for your turn also that is if it will ever come.

  14. That is why people voted for PF they are fedup with corrupt leaders, every ngwee must be accounted for . where people are left to steal as they like there is not development that can take place,, please help the nation to fight this sickness it is only the few thieves who are offended, but every wellmeaning zambian is happy with PF for now
