UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema
UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema

United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema says he will never be intimidated from pointing out the failures of the PF Government.

Mr. Hichilema has since encouraged opposition political parties and civil society organizations not to be scared of pointing out the wrongs of the government is committing.

He says every stakeholder has a role to play in ensuring that Zambia becomes a better country for all.

He adds that this can only happen if stakeholders such as political parties and civil society organisation remind those in government to deliver on the promises.

Mr. Hichilema has further stated that he will soon be vindicated, noting that a number of promises that where made to the people of Zambia have not been delivered.

And the Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has observed that the government has not shown much commitment towards revising the public expenditure system in the country.

CSPR executive director Mwila Mulumbi said that  when the PF came into government it had given assurance through the budget address that it was going to review the public expenditure system in order to ensure there is prudent use of public funds in the public service.

[pullquote]Ms. Mulumbi added that the PF government not shown any signs of introducing the planning and budgeting bill to parliament as earlier indicated.[/pullquote]

Ms. Mulumbi added that the PF government not shown any signs of introducing the planning and budgeting bill to parliament as earlier indicated.

She added that it would have been good if the government has moved quickly in trying to put in place an expenditure system that would prevent abuse of public funds.

Ms. Mulumbi has noted that the PF government has not been consulting the other stakeholders when drawing and implementing the countr’s developmental plans.

  1. ladies and gentlemen, for once lets agree with HH that this government is a disaster waiting to happen. PF are so arrogant and yet they are forgetting that they are dealing with a Zambia of the 21st century awash with online technology. HH is Zambia saviour and he has my support on the way.2016, lets vote for a candidate on merit and not populism. This populism gave us a disaster in FTJ Chiluba. Mwanawasa was not a popular president but made difficult decisions and the country was on its way to recovery.By the way, bureaus have run out of the US dollar and it appears people are keeping money in homes and cars.

    • HH has a point this time. He is just being a respnsible citizen. I totally agree with him especially on the issue of fiscal expenditure. Yes, PF made the promises and scorned Ba Banda over his frequent flyer milage he accumulated, but PF is no different.
Equiliser wa sula. The boat is overloaded with unproductive thugs. We must act against them or push them what is right. Ubukompo iwe.

  2. We are not in an election period HH, calm down,we have 4 and half years to go.You are giving PF areas to work on…..that’s not being smart.Being militant is not democratic,i fear you if you become president….

  3. A stupid failure bitter trabalist useless tonga,no one can intimidate you, because nobody cares what you say apart from your fellow tongas in babtustan, you destroyed mazoka’s party with your foolishness.and you think that zambians will like you because your talking like a b.itch since september 23 elections you are wasting your time, not presidential material and you will never rule our country punk.

  4. M. Hichilema should tone down and stop provoking the PF supporters and members. I am now thinking he is just a cheap politician who wants to be crying out loud whenever he is harassed by the PF not because PF is a violent party but because they are provoked by HH. He should learn to be mature and respect the Head of State. No well brought up child can call a President UKWA or Mr. Bean that disrespect of the highest kind and that child needs to be caned by all means. I think HH needs a good beating to instill some level of respect in him

  5. For all I know is my pay is k400,000 higher this monthend. This is the kind of news you get if you have bitter under5 politicians. If we wanted UPND and HH to be our leader, we would have voted for them.

  6. Continue giving them checks and balances, not surprising you the only one doing that. The rest of the opposition are sleeping till 2016

  7. Well spoken HH. We need checks and balances that are issue-based. Thats how developed countries got where they are today. You have my vote.

  8. To fail to notice sense in what HH has said is being stupid and shows poverty of reasoning power.People should learn to focus on discussing issues rather than individuals. There is nothing wrong in all of us demanding what is due to us as citizens of the country.

  9. In a democracy the culture of intimidating the opposition for pointing out failures by govt is long gone just like that of opposition parties insulting and disrespecting authority needs to be discarded forthwith.

  10. HH is just asking for it. Infact, he is only proving that Michael Sata is a very tolerant man. No agenda, no policy, no strategy. Just bent on discrediting PF. That is the lamest strategy to win people’s votes. HH, you will never rule. Deal with that. We will vote for another Tonga man, not you, when we find someone of Anderson Mazoka’s calibre. You are nowhere near those levels. Under Five.

  11. #8 if a crocodile invited you to the river would you go? Personally I would not listen to HH no matter what he says. The young man as he calls himself is very bitter, tribalistic and disrespectful. He has destroyed Mazoka’s work. How long has PF been in power? Did any Tonga vote for PF to deserve any appointments?

  12. MORE MONEY IN OUR POCKETS, INCREASE BY THE GOVERNMENT SATA NI ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  13. Agree with you Amos, only time will tell. It had to take FTJ to sell the mines for people to wake up, when its was all written on the wall that we were headed for doom way long before. People like Dr Kaunda then stood up to point out that MMD were looting our country, but what happened the old man was castigated and called a bitter loser. History is there to help us not repeat the same mistakes which happened in the past. so be wise and keep your eyes open:)>-

  14. Pls ba HH, how do you expect the PF to do everything they pledged in 6 months. Wait, if 12 months down the line, there is no sign, then your comments will be deemed mature. For now it is pure under 5 business.

To some of us who got fed up with MMD anticts, we see the country heading in the right direction. What is so far accomplished is satisfying given the mess they have to clean. Instead, we urge the government to simply concentrate on what they are doing and ignore these children. They will just suck your energy. Let fellow children in PF handle them.

  15. It only shows how ignorant some people are to they say it is “disrespectful” for HH question and criticize the president and ruling party. Questioning and criticizing is what democracy is all about so better you get over since this kind of childish winging only makes PF look like the true under 5’s.

  16. My next vote bane goes to HH from Ba shikulu, so far there is nothing to boast about PF. Ulechule ulesapota mentality is not taking us anywhere. If it means changing presidents every after every 5 years let it be. HH could be the next, i think he has the upperhand over others and has the qualities.

    • What do you want 6 months is too shot to see development.they are in power let them work come 2016 we shall evaluate.as for my cousin HH work on your party weaknesses in areas u lost otherwise you may run out of steam by 2015

  17. @ Joesph plz help me understand, give me just at lest five areas where the PF govt has delivered. @ kci how can you even be proud of a K400,000 salary increment when it will be all swallowed in inflation, the time PF took over govt the dollar was at K4800 now its at K5200!! and Zambia is a trading country.

  18. Yes Continue giving them checks, im begining to like you HH, unlike other amphibian politicians and NGOs who have cant survive they have gone under the water until 2016.

where is LAZ, where is citizen forum, MISA etc, they all cant survive the hissing sound of the cobra.

  19. why shoud PF cry for more time anyway. They told us that 90 days would be enough for them to buld universities not to appoint relatives in govenment and defend thieves like fred membe. HH keep talking. time is catching up with them

  20. Its true a Country needs oppostion, but ‘sound’ oppositon. HH and Mumba are just loud gongs! HH is just interested in his own tribe – he will NEVER get my vote no matter how bad the PF may be. Chipimo is coming up right. I can assure you he will over take these two clowns.

  21. I have strangled to see the disrespectifulness in what was said by HH. This country is on the down fall unless PF starts to listen and begins to address some of these issues. It is not in the interest of anyone to see a failing govt, the effects of a failing govt can be devastating now that the kwacha is responding to gravity what next. Good and services prices will go up, before you knowit that poor K400, 000 increament will be nothing. What we need is improved buying power than even increase in salaries. If people can reflect what happened when K3,200 was giving us a dolla how many bought cars and said good bye to mini bus…”abaleya..abaleya syndrome.” No salary increament come in to help.

  22. Yours are indeed “Politics of HATE” ba HH. Tone down mwana because in any case, you do not stand a chance in hell in becoming President of Zambia in your life time. Many pipo have tried and failed because of behaving like you; big headed. You are behaving as if you didn’t even go to school. Politics are all about numbers and good social policies for the poor Zambian masses. All we need as Zambians is to sit at a round table and discuss our failures and successes. Unfortunately your stance is that of bitterness, pitiful, arrogance and tribal, you will never get anywhere with that kind of atittude believe you me.

  23. But who is intimidating him in the first place? The truth of the matter is that no one is paying attention to whatever he uttering about. He has been daring the president to arrest him but no one even responded to his stupidity. @chills; you must be the most stupid person of all tongas. You portray yourselves as the know it all but fortunately people have rejected you and have been doing so on every election that has been coming. Check where you are today from where you came from, what do you say? STUPID!!!!!!!!

    • And you sir can’t claim that you have a brain! Look at what Ukwa’s nephew has written on this same website, isn’t he paying attention! You are just a typical tribal cadre.

  24. Lets go hh and make them a one term government. We should not keep quiet in the face of tribalism, fake donations and moves to institute a one party neo communist regime!

  25. #10 You are a tribalist yourself. You say youcant listen to HH no matter what he says and you are not ashamed your statement. Shame on you!!!

  26. The problem with our Opposition Politians like HH is that they are always charged to find mistakes in PF government. As HH may be right, I do not trust him because He is tribalistic and make UPND perceived as a Tonga party. We are not in Campaign times, long way to go therefore contribute to the development of our Economy than just being critical. HH should grow up.

  27. PF carders you sounds more bitter than HH. Please ready articles before you comment. there is sense in what HH is saying, the earlier we face the facts the better.

  28. Now that all those imposing malls have been put up and the roads leading into them are as smooth as a baby’s a55, lets work on the roads leading to those places where the visitors to these white elephants actually live! PLEASE!!!!

  29. Chief kaponya, does it mean everyone who does not agree with PF is Tonga? And everyone who agrees with PF is Bemba? If that is the case then PF is a tribal party. We need to learn to debate and not to insult like we are operating at KMB or City Market bus terminus. Opposition thrive on govts which are full of errors or misconduct, to ensure HH or any other opposition leader dose not call your leaders defecto ensure PF has it house in order period. ”Akachila kambushi kasengwila epokekele” tell your PF to do the same clean their house get rid of nepotism, regionism, cutting corners for tender procedures for renovations, do not call a Mpika cheif expert in law making the list is endless. Do not put relatives in all embassies.

  30. HH, is right to state that each and a very Zambian has a duty to contribute to the development of our nation. Its not a bout electioneering campaign but about development, to those who oppose HH”s can they show us what change PF has brought since they came into power, apart from insults and fighting corruption on personal vengeance without verifying and following the investigations results which might have clears those involved.
Zambians its high time we accepted genuine criticisms, the PF Government are still behaving like they are still in opposition— Change your mind set PF we want results not enriching yourselves and stop harassing people in the opposition.

  31. Guy no need to insult each other, lets just put facts as they are. what as Zambians need to know is that we make leaders to be what they turn out to be. In any democracy people are free to express their opinions and in dictatorship no opposing views are tolerated. it baffles me for one to say the country is going in the right direction, what parameters are you using??? as the saying don’t wait until you back is against the wall least you may be crushed, that’s what Zambian do wait until things are really bad and that’s when you speak out. but by then we would have lost out on time and resources. Lets help build our country.

  32. Im looking forward to the Day Mr HH will agree with the Government on some issues. Kushe, who has intimidated him, Is it Mr Sata who he calls ‘UKWA’ ? Or it Kabimba?. My plea goes to the Journalists, they should ask him who has intimidated him the next time he vomits such words.

  33. Most of the pro government comments are from the looters in Zambian missions and their relatives. They are so scared of any opposition because these makakas can’t compete on an open labour market. They can only survive through nepotism and tribalism.

  34. Tribalism in Zed is real. I have heard so many people say ”U muTonga! Awe”. I really do not understand what is wrong with one being Tonga. I really don’t and I find this very repulsive and horrible thinking. You mean a Tonga is not Zambian enough? Has no brains? Does not deserve to be president? Come on Zambian’s of Bemba stock, please up your game (I have heard this mainly on the CB where I have stayed long). A Tonga person has the same blood as yours, same thick lips, same African nose, same everything. This has to stop for the good of Zambia. It requires even the president to say something on this umuTonga awe nonsense. It is too much! By the way I happen to be Ngoni and Zambian, but I feel Tongas are being unfairly discriminated against in our country.

  35. #37 that attitude is just retaliation. Go to ECZ and check on the voting parten past elections and see if the Tonga have ever voted for any other tribe.

  36. HH you’re trying to use MCS method but what worked for MCS will not work for you, try another tactic. But if you insist on MCS’s way, be prepared to wait for another ten years.

  37. #38, also check from the same ECZ records and see if Bembas have ever voted for a Tonga (Mazoka or HH), Lozi (Inonge or Milupi) or Northwesterner (Mulemba or Sondashi) candidate. While these provinces voted overwhelmingly for Chiluba on two occasions the same is not true for Kolwestans.

    • Mazoka was liked by all Zambians but bcoz of VJ tonga, Kafupi and Xavier they made him lose. The bangweulu swamps have more water than fishermen but water voted and Andy lost, it pains me. As for HH we thank you for your effortsbut give someone chance to stand as president and see the response.

  38. HH is doing the right thing, check them where they are going wrong. I wonder why people say HH is tribalistic, are they blind to the fact that PF and Sata are tribalistic in the way they are appointing people? How can the same people (same tribe) continue calling others tribal when they are deep in tribal entanglements? Shame.

  39. Sad to note that most comments hinge on personal dislikes of HH and not what the ISSUES he is addressing. These issues have been raised by others before e.g. Dr. Mutesa, Elias Chipimo, Nevers Mumba and Milupi and no personal attacks have been raised to this level, just because HH is Tonga? If you are a true patriot, it would benefit this country to have people like HH who critically analyse how and what the govt is doing so that we do not slumber, wise people accept criticism. I can bet that some people do not even read the whole article, as long as there is HH in it they rush to put their hatred postings. I am not UPND but we need people like HH to keep on telling the PF govt what is perceived to be wrong afterall we are in a democracy and he is the opposition.

  40. @bob, you are tribalist if you are not from Northern or luapula provinces. I think data became president so that Zambians understand the TRUE nature of these people. Its a lesson we were ordained to learn. The TRUE colours of these people have been exposed. When they say that you are a tribalist what they actually mean is that you are not on of us. They are tribalists to the bone marrow!

  41. HH while I agree with you that we need people to point out at the wrong, you should also learn to congratulate them on the good achievements. Tell them well done and support what they are doing right, until you do that, then you will be a good leader. Stop also on talking about what they promised people, that come with time, Rome was not built in one day, PF has to coordinate alot of things before arriving at the promises. The issue of BR is not priority but economy is. In fact some promises will be fulfilled when the economy picks up automatically.

  42. Like one great statesman once said “The more victimization is on their back the more foolish they become”. difficult to help a victim if they themselves don realize they have a problem. its important to read widely, don’t just be educated but be learned and travel… visit other countries the you will understand that Zambia has the potential to achieve greater status. What am seeing here is a village hut syndrome: person who is content leaving in small hut just enough to spread his legs for over 20years and boosts of having thousand hectors of land. we need leaders with greater vision to inspire and give well planned direction to the country.

  43. My Bro success just like in Business comes with a good business plan. But the problem I seem to be having is you say improved health care!! more money in the pocket….. then on the other hand no clear policy on how to achieve this. We must have a clear plan before we can start achieving anything. that’s why we are having a situation where minister says this then next moment the president throws it out. success does not come by chance. And if PF continues on the same path, can assure you we headed for doom!!

  44. Can anyone close to HH advice him to start shaving the hair? He is too young to look scrafy like that, he needs a good shape up and look presentable not ishunsu like that.

  45. Continue hammering them HH, the truth hurts, some bloggers are just blind, why insult HH when he is pointing out what is wrong? There a lot of other stakeholders acknowledging the good works of PF. CSPR also pointed out the same things as HH and here you are talking about someone to shave his ichunsu @53 instead of commenting on issues, let us be serious. We need such criticism so that the govt does not forget about its promises to the people.

  46. Ba HH honestly why cant you just concentrate on your businesses than wasting your time, energy above all money in your futureless dirty politics, i feel pity for you nangu kufwaya ukuteka shuwa ni sebana wibe wikute kekekekekekekekekeke!

  47. anyway patience pays mwandi, SATA waited for so long and you will have to wait till you reach 80years hehehehehehe!

  48. HH Wajata ng`ombe thats why you are bitter”Your herbs man lied to you :).The people of zambia are saying that you can never rule yet you still want to cling to power. If Chama Chakomboka was alive he was going to oppose reasonably unlike you who has was my father`s (Mazoka) direction by beakering like a parrot no wonder they call you under 5 , i do not blame them ,you behave like one

    • Hansingo you are a jealous guy like most of the bloggers who are against HH, who thought Sata would rule wait and see, you will all get a shock especially that now it will be 50 plus. The same God who approved cheating Sata will approve HH who has no reason to steal a penny from the treasury like the PF is stealing our hard earned kwacha in broad daylight through the Fuel saga to Malawi

  49. This following blindly is sad in Zambia that is why we vote in thieves, Chiluba and Mwanawasa should be turning in their graves, even Kaunda knows that this is a mistake but he cannot say anything for the sake of his children.

  50. HH you are just wasting your time, money and energy, why don’t you keep quiet and do something else. I think you are a political drop out. Can’t you see that you are not making any impact in our zambian political circle.

  51. Just to make a point on HH. The reason why HH may have problems to gain acceptance in Zambia is mainly based on the way he ascended to the UPND presidency. That bit about ”only a Tonga can lead UPND”. That was crap. Anayitaya pamene paja. He should have come out strongly against his tribesmen who pushed that agenda. If he wants to be accepted in Zed he needs to get onto the podium one day and apologise to Zambians, otherwise Zambians don’t forget such things. I still maintain though that a Tonga is Zambian as anyone in Zambia. Peace.

  52. HH mawala! please change his nappies….kekekeke! ulimbe another 4years + to go….uliche nachikonko pamukosi, ndaba zako….hehehehe!

  53. Who should be bitter between one in power and one in opposition?HH and UPND pls get a life and move on.This is reality SATA and PF are rulling and its not anytime soon we shall be removed frm power.Wait for the coming BY elections,u will see that PF is getting popular each day.Another fact;HH and UPND will never rull Zambia.Take it or leave it.

  54. #46 Good points raised although I don’t agree with the point that people hate him because he belongs to a tribe called Tonga.History has shown that we have had able and credible leaders from Southern Province like Chona, VJ, Musokotwane, the Nkhumbulas, Mazoka etc who have and still affect Zambia’s political history. I still think he is to blame for his lack of appeal.Like I said before he needs some serious refurbishing to change from carrying that Gordon Brown Persona to the likes Obama or Blair. The problem is that  for some people having an Economics degree plus a portfolio of shares in some company is the ultimatum achievement.
Mazoka effortlessly won votes but as for HH ,I can only wish him the best.

  55. Analysing the IP. ADDRESSES OF most bloggers against HH they are bembas…they hate HH for the tribe and nothing else..the man has simly spoken sense..let a bemba like chipimo says the same things you will see the praises from bembas fro Chipimo….no wonder lozis want to break away from zambia….bembas are the most tribal and neptistic….Am lunda and will never vote for a bemba they are thieves and lazy….

  56. Dear HH.

What checks and balances are you supposedly giving? Ka
HH iwe, I suggest you check and balance your mouth. You’re just a bitter politician without an agenda, a plan or a future (politically). Those utterances you keep making sure make you look unappreciative of the little support that you were accorded in the last general elections by your so-called “die hard HH supporters”. Coming to think of it, you haven’t taken any time off since you were last seen on the campaign trail in September 2011. Do you think you’re still campagning? Relax mwaiche..take time off, re-group, re-focus and maybe we, the Zambian people will pay you some attention. Trust me HH, we all need a break sometime…just don’t continue to make an ***** out of your self. It’s embarassing!

    Umupondo.

  57. MY GOD MY GOD !
MY PAYE USED TO BE K2.8M
    EVERY MONTH !
    BELIEVE ME YOU TODAY !
    SATA HAS DONE IT !
    ONLY K1.6M FOR THIS MONTH!
    MORE MONEY IN MY POCKET!

AND MY FRIEND WHO IS A GRZ
    WORKER,GOT K2.4M TAXLESS !

WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?

    NGATA ULEBOMBESHA,UKALALILA FYE LYONSE!

    CAN I HAVE A WITNESS OUT THERE…!

  58. Congratulations our great leader His Excellence HH the great Ila fighter. You are the lion we have been waiting for. Attack these liars. I will spy for you you on what sampa is doing so that he is caged in 2016. From today, I am your faithful spy. I call upon all youths to protect you when you are with 30m of UKWA

  59. HH, how do you know that they are wrong when you are not giving us an alternative solution, which you think is right. Talking without any reasonable answers will make people to ignore you even if you have concrete solutions. Tell the nation what you could if it was you in power!! instead of attracting negative attention on yourself when you have nothing to offer to the people. UPND as a party should sit down and do a post- mortem and analyse why they are not performing on the national level like the founder did?

  60. HH but you cannot refuse to be laughed at as an irrelevant player who simply cannot accept that he will never be president and is bitter. Simple. Go back to business, go back to what you know

    • I hope he (HH) reads these bloggs. He truly needs to go back to what he knows…and we all know it’s NOT politics.

  61. HH you have a point don’t let anyone intimidate you. You are an opposition leader. You need to be strong and stand by what is right. We will support you. We will not let people regardless of who they think they are to just make unilateral decisions in this day and age. You have the right age just be sober and be true balanced Zambian. Show that you have love for all Zambians regardless of their tribe. Don’t mind those who tell you that you are a tribalist, but demonstrate that you are not one and move on. If you are able to overcome these you should see your political fortunes rising otherwise prepare yourself to be a perpetual opposition leader.

  62. Though he did not state the failed  promises by PF to which he would soon be vindicated, as he puts it, nonetheless, in order to shame HH, can someone please list PF`s promised achievements? Objectivity is virtuous while subjectivity is villainous

  63. #67 An IP address can tell you the tribe of the user of the computer? Zambians… Zambians… plz let us educate ourselves. Most bloggers here are unbelievable!

  64. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is the man of integrity. We are seeing what is happening! Come 2016 We will not waste our votes on these Fools!!!

    VIVA HH!!! VIVA UPND!

  65. Look HH i thgt you would learn somthing from H E when he was in oposition. He use to say things reasonably and that is why even us who never voted before went and registered and voted for H E.Now for you even people on the street are not happy with yr style of doing this.Just the other day some where city market area i had a chat with a few individuals including my collegues kampoyas and three quarters of them are upset with you HH.Remember that these are the people who votes.Come 2016 everyone will be anoyed with you.Ask yrself who is going to vote for u.My advice is take it easy talk abt real issues. Why waste time.Look at Chipimo JR slowly am starting to like him.HH learn.

  66. Please lets have some sober debate, we have one Zambia to love and protect. Allow HH to air his oppinions, you are free to offer differing oppinions. Its not neccessary to insult. We ought to base our debate on research and facts. I was privy to some of the discussions when Mr. Mazoka was laying ground work for UPND. It was very evident that the UPND was tribal inclusive then. Before you start labelling me triblist, please refresh your memory. Madame Mazoka was the first to publicly announce that the next UPND president ought to be tonga.(check the news records). Next were the three tonga bulls. They also supported madame Mazoka’s call. Mr. Sakwiba was vice president then, apperently he was not tonga enough but lozi. PF appointments, why too many northerners, Even the blind can see this.

  67. It’s all good to give checks and balances but looking for faults in everything is not the way to go. How can one honestly say ‘PF has not delivered on their promises’ just after months in power? Is HH saying he can solve Zambia’s problems in months. Come on get real! it is a shame that HH is hiding in representing the Zambians when he is really just interested in himself. We will take you seriously when you decide to think before you talk. Low self esteem makes people think anyone who does not agree with them and speak the same language is trying to intimidate them. Good luck with growing up.
