The Bank of Zambia has refuted allegations by former Access Financial Services Director Aaron Chungu that its agents have looted and plundered funds at Access Financial Services Limited and Access Leasing Limited, both in liquidation.

Bank of Zambia Head of Public Relations Kanguya Mayondi in a statement released to QFM News said that the central bank has followed the process of liquidation as outlined in the Banking and Financial Services Act, Chapter 387 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mr Mayondi explained that subsequently a liquidation schedule was prepared and lodged with the High Court, in accordance with the provisions of the Banking and Financial Services Act.

He said that Mr Chungu together with other former Access financial services directors are at liberty to inspect the liquidation schedule and can report any matter they consider criminal to the law enforcement agencies for action.

Mr Chungu has revealed alleged gross financial mismanagement in the liquidation of the defunct Access Financial Services Limited involving billions of kwacha by the Bank of Zambia through its agent Maulu Hamujele.

  1. iyo kwena, ba chungu naba kabwe nomba namukwata amaka yakulanda? Just shut up, why didn’t you challenge your claims 4-5 yrs ago? Or maybe you think your bemba clown will now protect you?

  2. BoZ need not release a statement responding to thieves only coming out because they have blessings of powers be. Soon this Aron Chungu will be a permanet secretary of some ministry replacing a PS with a “wrong surname”. PF it seems is underestimating the people’s views on thses chaps (the two Chungus, Mwamba and friends), MMD was in a similar position where they underestimated the public’s unhappiness about Dora, Shikapwasha, Mulogonti, Teta Mashimba and friends till Sept 2011.

  3. those funds are taxpayers monies plundered by chungu & FTJ. Access financial servies was used by FTJ to loot govt coffers. He should count himselt lucky that he’s not in jail like his partner in crime, mr. michael musonda of zanaco. if levy mwanawasa was alive till now, he would be serving. Boz is at liberty to return the funds to the people. Where did he get those billions?

  4. To be honest I don’t care anymore. This country is now fully in the hands of thieves. Infact let Aaron Chungu even claim his money back. I don’t see why he can’t get his company and money back if Mmembe and Nchito are doing the same. It is now free for all and so he has a point to attack BoZ. Let them continue stealing. they always get away with it anway…..it is only non-Bembas who are hunted day and night and jailed. And with such kind of government you want to be taken serious by your neighbouring countries and be acknowledged? Not in today’s world. This is it….over the coming years Zambia will slowly slip back to where it was before Mwanawasa became president.

  7. the whole country has fallen under the thieves control. Under the current situations it may not be too late to make things right. If the authority takes serious attempts and establish determination among themselves towards justice then there may still raise some hope to save the country.
