PF in Chadiza bans members from issuing press statements

The Patriotic Front (PF) in Eastern Province has halted its members in Chadiza district from issuing press statements anyhow.

Chadiza District PF Secretary, Fidelis Chitambala, said the directives have been issued in order to safeguard the integrity of the party.

“Some members have gone outside the stipulated party procedures of making public sensitive pronouncements on the Patriotic Front
pronouncements,” he said.

Mr Chitambala said that only the District Party Chairperson, the District Secretary and the District Publicity Secretary were mandated to make statements to the press on behalf of the party.

“Certain party members just want to create problems and yet they are not the ones who answer queries from senior party officials when situations get out of hand.” Mr Chitambala said.

He also warned party cadres who are in the habit of intimidating government workers in Chadiza district to stop or face disciplinary
action.

The District Party Secretary was making reference to recent reports that some cadres planned to lock up Chadiza Council Secretary Wisdom Bwalya’s office.

Mr Chitambala said the party was worried that some cadres, especially in Chadiza district, were taking politics as a tool for fuelling their personal aspirations without following the laid down procedures whenever they wanted to participate in public business.

“What cadres should know is that if they want to be part of the people to be awarded contacts in the district they must possess all the necessary documents and not to be favoured just because they are in the ruling party,” Mr Chitambala said.

He said favouring cadres just because they are in the Patriotic Front would only jeopardize the fight against corruption.
