A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has launched a baseline survey on homosexuality in Zambia.
Dette Resource Foundation Programs Director, David Musonda, told a media briefing in Lusaka today, that the survey will involve gathering statistics about homosexuality, its origins, prevalence and treatment of those involved.
He added that the survey will help to identify who is involved in homosexuality and, thereafter, interested groups will be engaged to chat the way forward.
Mr Musonda said that the survey dubbed ‘a baseline survey knowing the truth about homosexuality in Zambia ‘will be conducted in three towns, namely Lusaka, Kitwe and Livingstone.
He added that the survey will then spread to other parts of the country and run for four months starting from today.
Mr Musonda explained that in as much as Zambia is a Christian nation, there was need to love one another regardless of one’s status in society as the Bible teaches people the greatest commandment which is to love your neighbour.
He expressed optimism that the survey would not be antagonistic but will be carried out professionally and shall be confidential.
Mr Musonda has since appealed to the government, the corporate world, the donor community and the church to support the project.

How are the findings going to be used? To start advocating recognition of those useless animals? To offer them counselling services? To close the tap on its source? It will be good to read the research findings.However, quantitative research design is not ‘rich’ in gathering the required data. It would have been more viable to employ a qualitative methodology through in-depth interviews. This study will attract a lot of attention. I wonder want theoretical models will be used.
