The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has noted with sadness that the country risks losing its peaceful status if the current crop of political leaders do not stop acting and behaving irresponsibly just for the sake of maintaining political power.

SACCORD information officer Obby Chibuluma has said that while politicians must ensure that they do not lose power and support, their supreme responsibility is to ensure that while holding those privileged positions, they act to unite those they lead.

Mr. Chibuluma said that it was surprising that political leaders, especially those in government who should have attempted to be role models had equally fallen for divisive politics.

He said that Government needs to focus most of its energy in addressing the challenges faced by the country rather than ranting and reacting to every criticism from those who are opposed to their style of governance.

Mr. Chibuluma told QFM in a statement that it is unfortunate that SACCORD sees the statements by those in government, calling opposition leaders and their supporters as being bitter and full of hate as in bad taste and lacking substance.

He said that as a government that was elected to bring change, the PF needs to realise that it is accountable to the people adding that the grounds on which these people voted for need to be fulfilled.

Mr. Chibuluma said that the PF should offer appropriate answers to what they are doing because the Zambians deserve an explanation and the people have the right to criticize if they think things are not going well.

He noted that this was time to create a broad and strategic coalition with the people of Zambia in order to develop the country instead of engaging in actions that are scary to outsiders and potential investors.

Mr. Chibuluma stated that while politicians are fighting for political power, it is the ordinary Zambian out there who is suffering as a result of not receiving services from government because officials are too busy fighting political battles and failing to direct policy

  2. well observed SACCORD these monkeys have forgotten that we also want the mangoes they are eating in the mango tree. Now they are busy shouting on whoever tell them to share the mangoes. those of us who cant climb, we need to eat the fruits as well. monkeys workup and give us the mangoes you promised us when we helped you to climb on that tree. you promised us to prune the mangoes within 90 days but it is almost a year without fulfilling your promise.

  3. Bravo!!! Tell those doofuses and illiterates in the halls of govt and in plot 1 that their mandate entails serving the people and addressing their challenges and not chasing the shadows of HH or Banda. The biggest doofus is in plot 1 and is the ringleader in this waste.Fortunately their is a one term govt.

  4. POINT OF CORRECTION:

The PF don’t respond to every opposition party statements. They are are ONLY SCARED of UPND. Chipimo or COSMO may say something and there is no no reaction from the PaFwaka. The Moment HH opens his mouth. The whole CNP regiment will compete to outdo each other in responding. – Ba GBVM, Ba Summer, Ba Sakeni, Ba Kilometre, ba shani shani

  5. You are talking to people with no basic instinct of leadership. People who have no clue of what governance entails. If you are to examine the heads of these PF leaders, many of them are retards, not mentally fit to hold such offices. Its really unfortunate for Zambia.

  6. “Oh but how on earth will we survive without daily fodder?” wailed the blogger with too much time on his hands, “If I don’t diss someone at least twice a day then the people around me will bear the brunt. Keep politics dirty, senseless and infantile. Toss in comedic howlers and cliff hangers. Don’t worry about Zambians losing hope. They won’t. Um… On the other hand losing confidence is a distinct possibility. Get back to work. My political comedy action slash thriller won’t write itself…”

  7. Well said …PF is suppose to communicate to the people about what they are actually doing. But from the look of things they’ve done jack.

  8. Well, lets how the above splendid advice will be received by the intended recipients. In fact, people around the world share the same message and, it is regrettable that a very rich country like Zambia is occupied by poor people. Zambia was as rich as South Korea at one stage and it can still propel itself to a much higher status of a developed country under a younger generation of leaders who are highly progressive. We do not want leaders who lie through their teeth about pledges which without any further exploration anyone can deduce that such promises seem too true to be reality in real life. Zambians wake up and question everything a person says to you. Be extremely smart to be used as decoys

  9. The OPPOSITION are called “OPPOSITION” because they are OPPOSITION. They are not cheer leaders. They are there to provide OPPOSITION to the ruling party. That’s how balance is attained in a democratic system. When you kill the OPPOSITION you have killed democracy, exactly what KK did in 1969 with his infamous One Party Participatory Democracy. What this means is that, the ruling party must be thick-skinned and learn to operate in an environment where they are being bombarded by criticism from the opposition. By reacting to the opposition the were it’s doing, the PF government is behaving like the opposition itself. They need to learn how to rule and govern. Up to now, they have been engaged in fire fighting… putting fires everywhere. That is not governing!
