Schemes by some unnamed to have Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba ousted as PF Secretary General has been exposed by PF Lusaka Province Chairman Geoffrey Chuumbwe.
The moves to remove Mr. Kabimba as the party’s Chief Executive Officer are believed to be part of a wider silent presidential succession battle raging in the PF.
At a news briefing today, Mr. Chuumbwe castigated those pushing Mr. Kabimba out of the party.
“We know them, they are busy organizing dark corner meetings at Evelyn Hone College and UNZA inciting students to protest against Mr. Kabimba’s dual roles,” Mr. Chuumbwe said.
He said such moves will not be entertained by the party in Lusaka Province because Mr. Kabimba has demonstrated that he is highly competent and could hold both positions.
“If they are scared of Wynter, they should just come out in the open and say so unlike destabilizing the party. We will not accept such behavior,” Mr. Chuumbwe said.
He also took a swipe at the UPND senior leadership for allegedly insulting President Michael Sata.
“As PF members, we should all take it upon ourselves to protect the name and integrity of our President. We cannot allow our President to be insulted by the UPND and the MMD. We have to defend our President.”
He warned that the UPND will be forced to vacate its Lagos Road Headquarters in Rhodespark by PF youths if its leaders continue to insult President Sata.
“Tabakekalepo palya (they will not stay there) if they continue insulting our beloved President. This is just a friendly warning,” Mr. Chuumbwe said.
Meanwhile, the ruling Patriotic Front PF in Luapula Province says it is confident that the newly appointed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba will deliver in his new position.
The provincial leadership says the appointment of Mr Kabimba has come at a right when the country is faced with Corruption, delay in the disposal of court cases and says it is confident that the new justice minister will address these issues.
ZANIS reports the provincial Publicity Secretary Gavashi Chikoko to have made the observations in a statement in Mansa , today.
Mr. Chikoko says the Patriotic Front leadership in the province is delighted with the president appointment of Mr Kabimba.
Mr Chikoko has however said the PF leadership in the province is not happy with manner in which the opposition is conducting itself towards the government.
He says the PF needs a credible opposition that will make it restore the distorted economy left by the MMD.

I thought this Chuumbwe could atleast read in between the lines that his enemy and that of Wynter Kabimba is not UPND but Erick Chanda. UPND through its special advisor to the President for special duties Edward Mumbi advised the PF to allow Kabimba to continue holding on to the two positions of Party Secretary General and that of Justice Minister, instead we head insults of him from Erick Chanda who assured UPND that PF was not foolish and is able to read between the lines that UPND is only advising that way because it wants PF to die a natural death. I cannot understand why this Chuumbwe cannot just be brave enough and single him out that Erick Chanda is organising Students to oust Kabimba from the position of Party Secretary General instead of giving foolish warnings to UPND.
