Livingstone UPND Member of Parliament Howard Sikwela has dispelled reports suggesting that he has resigned from his party to join the Patriotic Front.
Reverend Sikwela has told ZNBC News in an interview that he is still committed to the UPND.
He says President Michael Sata’s recent revelation that he has expressed interest to work with government has been blown out of proportion by some people.
Rev. Sikwela says there is nothing wrong with an opposition MP working with government for development because MPs pledge allegiance to the president when they are being sworn in.
On Thursday, President Sata said he is willing to work with the opposition and that Rev Sikwela had shown interest to work with the government.
President Sata was speaking when he officially the launched the Road Project 8000 in Lusaka which is an attempt to link Zambia through a good road network.
Meanwhile Rev. Sikwela has bemoaned the pace of development taking place in the tourist capital.
Rev. Sikwela says no meaningful development has taken place in Livingstone as Zambia prepares to co-host the United Nations World Tourism Organisation –UNWTO- Conference next year.
