The ruling PF is said to have mobilized hundreds of its youth cadres to beat up MMD Mwandi MP Michael Kaingu as he enters Parliament this afternoon.

But the MMD says over 2,000 of its cadres have offered to protect Mr. Mwandi from the PF cadres.

And Mr. Kaingu has appealed to Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Solomon Jere to send officers to protect him saying he is very vulnerable and cannot defend himself.

Intelligence reports show that the PF’s provincial leadership in Lusaka has mobilized the youths to go and block Mr. Kaingu’s entry into Parliament grounds and later beat him up.

The PF youths are apparently angered by Mr. Mwandi’s action in Parliament recently when he tore President Michael Sata’s speech.

The youths are planning to beat up the Parliamentarian as a way of showing displeasure over Mr. Kaingu’s behavior.
But the MMD says its youths in Lusaka will not sit idle and watch their Vice President being beaten up by the PF cadres.

MMD National Youth Secretary Tobias Kafumukache said the youths have mobilized themselves are gearing up to protect Mr. Kaingu at Parliament this afternoon.

He said over 2,000 of the MMD cadres will be in hand to protect Mr. Mwandi at Parliament.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kaingu said in Lusaka that he has asked Lusaka Police Chief Solomon Jere for protection.

He said he is vulnerable and cannot protect himself at his advanced age.

The Mwandi MP maintained that he does not regret tearing up the speech because he believes that the speech that people are saying President Sata delivered is not the one that he tore up.

“My body, my soul and my fresh was alive when I made that decision to tear up that speech and I don’t regret my actions. The integrity and decorum of the House needs to be protected,” Mr. Kaingu said.

  1. Can this dull parliamentarian be severely punished please? He acted stupidly and deserves real punishment!

    • @Leautenant Mwamba

Its people like u that need to be punished for writing no sense without thinking. Learn to start thinking u silly fool… I am sorry I have come out so strong, ignorance pisses me off. No crime has been committed here and there no laws that states that if someone tears up a speech they should be punished

    • #Leautenant Mwamba, actually its you who is a fool for failing put your point on the platform. all what you do is exhibit your stupidity in public. you are jst a school leaver who has just joined the armed forces hence that Rank. otherwise you a dunderhead

  2. This is childishness at its best in parliament..Who in his/her crazy mind expect sensible and productive decisions to be made in parliament with such leaders who are mobilizing thugs (cadres) to beat up a fellow MP typical grade 12 thinking

    • If indeed this is true and not just cheap propaganda, then I agree with you. However, I would want my MP to articulate his displeasure in a manner befitting a rational individual. We send our MPs there to debate, not to throw temper tantrums. I am non-partisan. I’m just a Zambian who wishes to see mature politics in my country, both from the ruling party and the opposition. If the ruling party messes up, my hope is in the opposition, so I need to see some level headedness both sides.

  3. jealous down, this man has rily caused a stir.cant help but admire his honest especially during the assignmment programme with costa mwansa……………………

  4. Crazy our youthful cadres behave pa Zed.From Upnd cadres who at one point contemplated raping nawakwi to Pf cadres ready to unleash some kicks and punches on old Kaingu.Ndeloleshafye

  5. Crazy how our youthful cadres behave pa Zed.From Upnd cadres who at one point contemplated raping nawakwi to Pf cadres ready to unleash some kicks and punches on old Kaingu.Ndeloleshafye

  6. Kaingu has always been a very emotional and impulsive man and I am not surprised he made that stupid decision to tear the Presidentla speech. He had the opportunity on assignment on Muvi TV to start damage control by just explaining the he may have let his emotions get the best fo him and was sorry, he put the house into disrepute. As for the PF cadres, I would suggest they leave Parliament to address this issue without undue pressure. The Legislature is capable to address this matter without turning it into a nasty interparty impasse!!!

  7. if he doesn’t regret his actions then he should be brave enough to face the youths. I hope the Police ‘delay’ so that he is beaten hard before they intervene.

  8. so democracy seems to be under attack from the masses in the name of PF. you guys learn to be tolerant and not all people will agree to your policies or ideologies. just as you differed with the mmd. but doing a cho chise game in politics is not only behaving like bakolwe but actually agreeing that such people are indeed ba kolwe pantu e behaviour yaba kolwe, fyongo fye uuuuuuuu, nefipato sululu

    • I dont mind anyone disagreeing with anyone’s policies, but there are ways of expressing oneself, especially in “THE PEOPLE’s HOUSE”. I dont mean to say he deserves to be beaten up. I mean to say that while we condemn those who want to beat him up, we must also remind him that such conduct is not civilized or productive at that level of responsibility. He is an MP, not a kaponya, and even kaponya’s do solve problems amicably among themselves.

  9. On tyhe assignment Kaingu wanted to blow his trumpet about his speeches and he specifically referred to the one he made in Bali, Indonesia at a Conference!!! How I wish he should know that he was not alone in Indonesia and the trouble that he caused technocracts, including wanting to have speech changed so he sounds like Ban Ki Moon, who was speaking to global audience while him as Zambian Minister needed to articulate Zambian interests! He was the most incoherent Minister I have come across and a total embarrassment in such high level sessions! He should leave people like Catherine Namugala to speak, she even has more experience in speaking at high level events than him!!!! When will thew cash transfer scheme, be visited by the law. this guy was moving around with money like Fr. Xmas!

  10. Mwandini ba PF muchiponone chi kaingo chalitumpa.Thats why he teaches his daughters ponography.Ati ba doctor kaingo! doctor wa ponography.

    • Very dull Ranting man. A degree in dancing or massaging?? You see how ignorance can blind you to think a degree can make a president.. repent from this dullness man.

    • @truth hates – yes even a degree in dancing or smoking is a degree. Certainly better than ukwa! A farmer with a tractor is better than one with a kambwili who is better than without anything!!! Education in whatever subject is education – Yes it gives ability to analyse things!!!

  11. Where did these instructions come from, yet the head of state is quiet about this and going on about his business like there is nothing going on yet we know who gave instructions for this hooliganism.

  12. Declaring Psalm 35 over everyone and the root cause of violence and chaos in the country. Zambia is a peaceful country and we do not need it to be tainted, the legacy of a peaceful nation shall live on to the next generations. Opposition continue maintaining your calm and Maturity and Zambians themselves will decide. Why are the churches, NGO’s so quiet over what is going on in the country, tribalism, Barotseland, oppression and refusal of rallies.

  13. May the Lord arise over our Land, Zambia belongs to Jesus and our land shall not be defiled by evil, Jesus defeated all evil on the cross of Calvary.Retaliation is not the way forward no one will know the difference between who is violent, learn from Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta is accused of organzing a gang to fight back and retaliate aganst ODM’s attack he is facing trail at the hague together wth Ruto who was accused of organised the attacks.

  14. Violence does not pay, just be calm, mature engage the police if they are non responsive engage human rights groups and the Hague. Zambia is a peaceful country and it does not need violence in Jesus name.We need servant leadershp in Zambia and not this violence and causing chaos to get leadership and maintain leadership. May the Lord raise the right leaders for Zambia who will preserve the peace of our land and trully serve everyone in Zambia.

  15. Politicians both ruling and opposition beware do not turn our country into a battlefield to serve interests best known to your selves.God will not sit back when you cause violence and chaos, he will fight back and really hard he needs peace in our country so that people may come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  16. Do not cause untold suffering to innocent Zambians. Do not be a hindrance to God’s plans over Zambia, may the lord visit you with terrifying dreams and visions like Nebuchadnezzar Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin. If you do not repent may psalm 35 become reality over you and your families, this includes everyone who is encouraging violence.

  17. Hon. Kaingu is a member of parliament,a supreme law making body in the country and Vice President of the main opposition party. He deserves protection of the state police. Cadres, whether PF or MMD must never be allowed anywhere near parliament to cause violence. That is recipe for anarchy and clear breach of the law. Individual law makers cannot start seeking personal protection from party cadres when we claim ours in fully functioning democracy. Where is the head of state and his home affairs minister? Under this govt, Zambia has drifted far back in time when violence came before. I am not surprised, we re a headless state,CNP is a kapoya who takes pleasure in other people’s misfortune, pain and fear. What a president!

  18. Malawi’s president Joyce Phiri reduced her presidential salary by 30% to lead by example and to share Malawi austerity pain

  19. The language is always reshuffle, sacking, arrest, interrogation yet no tangible projects or original policy formulation is being undertaken. We are sick to the core with this government.0

  20. This kind of politics (if it qualifies as) is despicable. Cadres against Cadres. MP in the middle. We are certainly going backwards at a terrific pace in terms of institutions and governance. Yet those who profess the rule of law and are charged with the responsibility of defending democracy, either react feebly without conviction or do nothing at all. There is a lot of this cadre nonsense going around without anyone firmly stamping on it.

  21. Ba LT, did you write about Mr. Kaingu or Mr. Mwandi?I’ am a little confused.Mr. Mwandi, Mr. Kaingu. Mr. Kaingu, Mr. Mwandi.Or now I know, Mr. Kaingu is Mwandi Member of Parliament. And Mr. Mwandi is Kaingu Member of Parliament.

    • Even so, is his job as the people’s representative not to challenge the speech in debate rather than trashing it? How does reasoning continue from there? Could he not just have addressed the house and expressed his displeasure? I dont mean to say he should be punished. I mean to say that he did not respond in the smartest way.

  22. If our leaders tolerate such backward mindset, there is something seriously wrong with the governance of our country.

  23. liar were can you get 2,300 mmd youths here in lusaka.maybe atleast 5 mmd youths drunk with jenkem and kachasu.so that even when they are punched its less painfull.

  24. Ba Kolwe nefi Pato Full, leave our vice president alone. If touch him will also crash ka guy scott. You grade sevens kaponyas.i am not supprised, like father like son.

  25. Would the PF cadres be acting in the interests of their party or against? The answer is straightforward, “against”. Can Mr Kabimba do something about it please before an incident takes place instead coming round fire fighting.

  26. But Kaingu you are an old man who should behave and have manners. So now you call upon the police when your fellow dull cadres want to shamboko you….hahaha…man just be strong as you were when tearing the speech. Don’t even summon the police who were not there when you were behaving like a kid. Face your fellow brainless cadres. You and the PF cadres have the same level of thinking, just as you did not debate the speech but assorted it, in the same way your fellow dull PF cadres want to shamboko you before amicably settling the issue …kekekekeke.

  27. It was very childish of Kaingu to do such a thing. Even if you may not agree with someone on certain issues doesn’t mean that one should be emotional, insolent & disrespectful. He is a politician, We expect a little diplomacy.
And just because one has made a foolish decision like Kaingu did, it does not mean others must also react foolishly (2 wrongs cannot make a right)

  28. Kaingu is saying that he cannot defend himself because of his advanced age? What about Tekere, he knows how to defend himself; let Kaingu recruit him back and he will ‘help’ him.

  29. And beating him up will prove what? See, this is where I utterly blame our political leaders when it comes to leading by example. Zambian politics is all about showing ones’ might. I recall when MMD was in power and they beat up those defenceless poor people in Chongwe last year. Everybody (PF) cried foul. And now, the tables seemed to have turned. In my opinion, beating up Kaingu will not solve anything…it only shows your ignorance at the lowest levels. And where are the PF heads and what are they saying about this? Kaingu ws wrong for his actions and that’s why the speaker threw his azz out of parly. What more do you want? This is so ignorant and unjustified. Can the president say/do something obout this please!

  30. I want to ask fellow bloggers this question: Have you noticed that whenever SataN or whatever you call him is in the country there is so much violence? I think this country is better off without this man, its like he directly orders these youths to get physical on political opponents! Just thinking loud!!!!

  31. Michael Kaingu needz a lot of sympathy. Condemning and subjecting him to threats iz absolutely unnecessary and may just make the man grow a big head. Thoze going ballistic about the Mwandi MP’z freedom of exprssion action in parliament should realize that democracy often comez with a heavy price. If and when you start rizing against small and strange thingz some people may rezort to az a way of showing displeazure, chancez are that democracy will suffer a great deal in the end.

  32. i will continue to say this as long as i am not proven wrong that PF and its cadres are only good at one thing insults and violence just like their MASTERMINDER of a PRESIDENT who once took a gang of thugs to chawama and beheaded any unlucky soul that happended not to insult continously for 5 minutes. SATA has insulted a lot/ provoked peace through his thugs called cadres for far too long dont be suprised when his taken to the HAGUE where their will be gashing of gums and remainders of rotten teeth. KAINGU u the man.

  33. So in PF eyes violence is more acceptable than tearing a piece of paper in protest?
I dont know how many people share that view but if they are many then the country is so so so backward.

  34. Both PF and MMD are encouraging young people to become thugs. Next they will turn into fully fledged criminals !! Good grief what has become of Zambia?

  35. The story was initiated by Kaingu so as to detract parliament from enforcing the disciplinary measure as would be recommended by the committee. Kaingu knows he was wrong and is now seeking sympathy!

  36. Why start battles which you cannot finsh? Kaingu is no strnger to Zambian political violence/thuggery and should have been aware of flames he was fanning by tearing a ruling Presindent’s speech on Parliament floor. Was he Trying to compete with HH for attention? Be strong Shi Iris. You asked for it> NOT that I condone violence but you dont poke a stick in a hornet’s nest intentionally and expect a jolly walk in the park!

  37. Disinformation! This story has no specifics except the culprit himself insinuating that the PF cadres are about to beat him. where are the so called PF cadres? How did the MMD arrive at the  2000 figure for protection? Are they registering in the MMD hooligan force? Intelligence from a politician should never be relied upon as it always has political undertones to it.The question is what is Kaingu trying to achieve by claiming that PF cadres are after him? Self preservation!! LT disregard hearsay stories, it is bad journalism.

    • What we are talking about is imminent violence. The number cadres involves is irrelevant one person can cause so much harm depending on how they decide execute their violence as we have see so many times in America. Bottom line is head of state should remind home affairs to get on top of things. Kaingu is action is parliament a
was his constitution prerogative and must be protected at all cost. No justification for lawlessness. Nothing should be taken to chance.

  38. Sata is intolerant and violent. One would think merely mentioning harm to an elected member of parliament in a civilised society we claim to be should attract immediate condemnation by the head in strongest possible terms.  Not in CNP’s government, violence and foul mouthing are his suit. When people feel unprotected they resort to self-defence and end result would be catastrophic. A hollow document is not sacred neither is any piece of object under the sun. No person in this country is immune from criticism, we are not an Islamic state where film or cartoon can condemn to mindless and death. If this should be the so called PF democracy, I am afraid we are better off being governed by civil servant. Not this clueless, accidental president, CNP. I..ot!

  39. “My body, my soul and my fresh…” LT – did Kaingu say that verbatim or is it your usual poor editing skills? You have even called him Mr. Mwandi! Is that his name? Ok, that aside, lets move away from this medieval behavior of intolerance. We are almost becoming like some famous group somewhere in the world…

  40. RB was president for all zambians MCS is the president only for PFOOS, SHAME on you. I cant understand peaple who agree with this leadership what they think whatever SATA speaks is honey and milk. is this how cobra vernom can do, how can you agree when the president say i will be looking over RDA does it mean he want to give road contracts to his family, PFOOS, members, or MMEMBE but you just agree. Anyway nipa Z nomba MWILAIPAYANA BAFIKALA umweo kanani. Kaingu mulekenifye.

  41. Kaingu is not a brave man as he would want to portray. He protection from the police who are sworn to obey the President he Kaingu insulted.I think Kaingu does not think straight. No wonder during his honeymoon for the second wife,he took his first wife along. It is amazing with such people in politics we cannot go anywhere. And Kaingu should show us the speeches MMD presidents made that transformed the lives of our people apart from the bank accounts of MMD chiefs.Never trust Politicians.

  42. each MP was given a copy of that speech, is it wrong to tear a piece of paper whose contents you do not agree with? he has every right tear it because according to his consciousness it didnt mean anything it was useless. it was different from verbal speech he heard in parliament. i was going to urinate on it if i was also a member of parliament

  43. Its sad to witness civility going through the window while government is watching over Mr Kaingu’s expression of his rights as a parlimentarian. Honourable Kaingu performed his actions in parliament and justified his actions confined to parliamentary rules and orders. Fellow MPs reacted accordingly and calls from outside for honourable Kaingu to be expelled from parliament were smartly defeated by parliamentary rules and orders that govern parliament. Matter settled honourable Kaingu is alive to his rights and privelages. Who are these outsiders threatening his life and freedom? How on earth can a parliamentarian be threatened with violence when government exist. This can only happen to a failed state, are we a failed state under Sata’s rule?

  44. This plot by the PF cadres to attack Hon. Kaingu at Parliament Building can only succeed if it is facilitated by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Police Service. We pray that this game does not involve the Military wings to quell anarchy that is brewing in the PF system.

  45. Am worried now if be called PF DIE HARD they things are goning on in our part because of GBM money, this not our PF manifesto. Please help
