Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) President Dr Nevers Mumba has revealed that he will hold a press briefing tomorrow to reveal the full details of misdeeds by the MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe .
Dr Mumba said he did not want to give piece-meal information about what was happening in the party, but rather hold hold a press briefing on the matter give the full details.
“I won’t comment today. I don’t want to give answers in piece meal. I will probably issue a comprehensive statement tomorrow to help the media and the people understand misdeeds and the game my brother Kachingwe has been playing,” he said.
Meanwhile, Police have apprehended MMD Lusaka Province chairperson Watson Mtonga in connection with the beating of MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe over the weekend, Lusaka Province Police chief, Joyce Kasosa has confirmed.
Ms Kasosa confirmed in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Mtonga was currently in detention and that Police were still hunting for other youths that were involved in the fracas at the MMD secretariat, where Major Kachingwe was hounded out of his office following deepened wrangles in the MMD.
“We have so far only apprehended one suspect, a Mr Mtonga who is in detention, we have not yet charged him as Police officers are still in the field searching for more culprits,” Ms Kasosa.
As someone who is not Christian Iam amused at why those who decree our nation as Christian lamentably fail to follow Jesus’s teachings. Didn’t he say if you are slapped on one cheek simply give the other cheek? So why doesn’t Pastor Mumba merely give Kachingwe the other cheek? Instead he sent Kaponyas to dust Kachingwe up. Lets just be practical and do away with this Christian nation thing which is only on paper.

I will have to agree with Umwina Zed in as far as the “Christian nation” goes. What does it mean to be a Christian nation? People live lives that are far from the Christian teaching and only seem to acknowledge Christ on a Sunday or when in trouble. Look at your President today, Chiluba (the declarer) has turned out to be the biggest thief this country has ever seen. The Church is full of promiscuity and greed and is more of a financial thing than healing the lost. Is it just a ruse, to keep the gullible from smelling the rat..even if it is under their noses! Religion or the depth of it should be personal. God will judge you as an individual by you deeds and not as a nation by declaration.

MMD has no vitality as a political party. In the minds of most Zambians, the name “MMD” itself carries more negative than positive connotations. The best Nevers (and other politicians with potential in MMD can do) is dissolve the party and create a brand new party. Then perhaps people will begin to listen.

problems with our so called politicians is that they always practice politics of belly no principles. all they want is to feed their belly and their families no services to the least of the ordinary Zambian. Kachingwe gave names of the people he reported to police for assault and Mumba was one of them but now police are saying they have only arrested one and looking for rest, don’t they know where Mumba lives?

Major Kachingwe was probably wrong to have suspended Mumba without consulting the entire NEC. But that does not remove the fact that he is constitutionally liable, according to their constitution. He reacted by impulse by ‘sending’ those cadres.Christianity entails that if one slaps you on one cheek give him the other; new testament. Level headedness is missing in Pastor Mumba.

Ehem, I cuold give a rats azz about MMD. We all know that after RB’s defeat, MMD not only crumbled but it ceased at the moment to be a factor in Zambian politics. However, I strongly condemn Mumba’s action towards Kachingwe.
Mumba claims to be a man of God but that leaves a lot to be desired. Atleast those in Ottawa will attest to the opposite of that claim.
He not only continues to prove what people say or speculate about him, he is now tarnishing his image forever.
The best thing he could’ve done was, first; condemn the violent cadres’ behavior with regards to Kachingwe.

Are we 100% certain that Mumba actually hired those thugs to rough up Kachingwe or is it mere speculation? The politic entity referred to as cadres exists in every party and to now lament and point fingers just because the one who benefits from their insane actions (which have been going on for decades) happens to be a former pastor is hypocritical. How many times has HH been harassed by PF cadres? I think the failure here is of successive governments in bringing these violent elements to book. Every party actively employs the services of these brute beasts so let’s not use double standards here and address the real problem.
