Herve Renard Drops Three Players

Share

Coach Herve Renard has dropped three veterans from his team for Zambia’s March 24 engagement away to Lesotho.

Striker James Chamanga, midfielder Noah Chivuta and Kampamba Chintu have all been axed for the 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier.

Renard has otherwise kept faith in the majority of his players that have served him during his last two stints as Zambia coach.

However, another player missing will be defender Joseph Musonda who is serving a one-match suspension after accruing two yellow cards at the 2013 Africa Cup.

Meanwhile, Renard has named four home-based players in his 19-member team that includes Power Dynamos midfielder Mukuka Mulenga plus his team mate at Arthur Davies goalkeeper Joshua Titima.

Others are Zanaco midfielder Roderick Kabwe and his club mate in goalkeeper Racha Kola.

The team is expected to go into camp in Johannesburg on March 17.

Team:
Goalkeepers: Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars, South Africa), Joshua Titima (Power Dynamos), Racha Kola (Zanaco)

  1. It looks like HR does not want to change his tactics of 4 4 2 formation going by the list above.

There is need to create competition for all positions in the team if we are to archieve meaningful results to take us to Brizil.

Of all 23 players, only 4 are strikers and more are midfielders, dont we want goals?

I doubt if HR is a coach who picks players on merit but on swatad(memorised) football.

  2. Still relying on forwards that hardly feature in their teams like Emmanuel Mayuka the guy does not even feature on the subs bench at Southampton and there is Ba Christopher Katongo whose team has been relegated to Chinese division 2 and you want the selfsame players to be clinical in front of goal. When are we going to wake up to the fact that HR is a below average manager whose dictated to by his bosses who hand-pick the team….. the best you can get from him is a draw nothing more and nothing less…managers seldom change.
This is why I like Nigerian head coach Stephen Keshi he does not take b.s from nobody imagine HR telling an in-form striker like Peter Odemwingie that he will not be taking him.
    Wake up!!

  3. Why not pick last year local league top scorer from Zanaco? Let their be competition for strikers…

    • Right my friend. We hae no strikers. Whole team made up of midfielders who cant score. Coach should start trying out the outstanding strikers in our local league. Why cant HR learn from what Steven Keshi did.

  4. Why not let the coach and his team do their job? The problem in Zambia is that we all claim to be soccer experts. Can you imagine if you are a teacher and every parent who comes to your office wants to tell you which syllabus to use? or if you are a doctor every patient’s relative wants to tell you which treatment to give? that is chaos. these coaches have undertaken formal training and have experience, so let them do their job.

    • But has he done his job in the last couple of games so far? He is a Wenger in the making, past glory only.

    • Zedman, if he has not done the job, then you have the power to fire him (as a taxpayer) as a Zambian. the job of Zambians is set benchmarks with him and if he fails to achieve these benchmarks, you fire him & get a new one. but people should not get try to do his job by selecting teams , suggesting 4 4 2 or 3 5 2 ,etc

  5. the past is the past. go boys and get them.if we were playing here in zambia luapula would have bin there to sapot you. we love you guys

  6. Dropping James Chamanga is not a good move… james is a good player wat he might be lacking is just some one to time up with.
    Coach kindly reconsider your decision.

  7. This coach how we have exactly four defenders. Should one be injured you will start experimenting with Chisamba nigerian game seller in defence.

come on HR bring in a defender. Remember what the minister of sport has said we have to be in brazil for all reasons no more loses. The droping of those players is okay, willian ndhlove should have also gone. Warming the chairs yera in, year out .

  8. Drop chris and Chansa as well, lets just find some young local talent which is unkown!! Same pipo lyonsefye? Shadreck Malambo??

    • @jones… Rodrick Kabwe, Sitali of power, even kennedy mudenda, and the other Zesco guy can play far better than Chansa. The problem is we limit ourselves on few individuals. Who doesnt know that this game is important? Thats why we need players who can deliver boi waumfwa?

    • @EX ZIT u cannot win a world cup with untested players. The devil you know is better than the engel you do not know. How do you drop chris na chansa, thats how we gave away a game against Bukina Faso.

    • So guys how do we plan to go to the world cup with untested players, new coach, new FAZ, new government they do not even know each other, bena batiyopa koma ife tamene tilibe confidence, come on guys we are still the best….have we failed yet to the extent of asking foreigners, even foreign players to come and win matches for us? Meanwhile ni zeee, Renard, Kalu; ba Sata, chipolopolo lets do it again ni zeee who ever is disgruntled ifwe nimwamene tilili tuli Chipolopolo….!

    • umfwa HR…..,kansakala uyo alekulufyanyafye he has never been a coach before neither does he know how to play icimpombwa.let me ask you,do you know what this name kansakala means?just stay in zambia and do yo job, after all you won us the AFCON 2012 which the grand father to kansakala never thought of.we owe you a big time, respect to you my coach………..soccer analyst.

  9. ba saka jones, sinkala is the best number 6 so far,he does’nt let oponents move away with the ball without hunting him down……thats the spirit of a defensive midfielder…..come for lessons its free!!!!
