The opposition UPND has warned MP’s accepting deputy ministerial positions in the PF government of expulsion.
UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe told Journalists in Lusaka that the party will not hesitate to expel any MP for accepting a job from the PF without the party’s blessings.
Mr. Chibwe said the UPND is a disciplined party and will not tolerate truant MPs.
“As UPND, we want MP’s who are full of integrity,” Mr. Chibwe said.
He said the party has enough members to stand in any constituency in case of a bye election.
“Just as it happens when you take your vehicle to the garage, you go there with your spare tyre. As UPND, we also have spare candidates in all constituencies ready to be adopted if a bye election occurred,” Mr. Chibwe said.
“If you are an MP under UPND and you are thinking of joining the PF as a Deputy Minister, let me warn you, leave now and we will adopt loyal members to stand on your seat and win back our seats.”
Mr. Chibwe said he has information that some more UPND MP’s have accepted ministerial positions in the PF government.
