US Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella has said that the United States believes the human rights of all people including gays and lesbians must be protected.
In an interview on human rights to coincides with the release of the US 2012 Human Rights Report, Ambassador Storella said that all people must be treated equally and fairly, and that the U.S opposes laws that unfairly impact any group of society be it a religious minority, ethnic minority or gays and lesbians.
He said that this does not make them less human being nor does it change their entitlement to human rights or government’s responsibility to protect their human rights.
And Ambassador Storella has hailed what he has described as a remarkable tolerant Zambian people.
He pointed out that there are very few countries in the world that have 73 tribes and have never had tribal conflicts.
Mr Storella has since encouraged Zambians to continue building on the tradition of tolerance.

Ambassador Storella should know that American rights should not be prescribed for others. Gays have no American rights,HERE in ZAMBIA. There can never be such a thing like human rights in Gayism.

Very complex subject indeed and I appreciate the concerns raised by a lot of folks here. Correctly stated that some certain states in the US don’t allow same sex marriages but what’s also true is that they don’t violate their rights or way of life. By this I mean they won’t discriminate on account of their sexual orientation on issues of Jobs, health etc. The US law generally will not outlaw gayism or allow these people to be threatened with jail, death and labeling for being gay. But what some States won’t allow is same sex marriege and adoption of children by gay couples. Its unlike here where the law encourages us to throw them in jail and prohibit them to freely associate or project their views. All in all its a complex issue and treating it with simplicity won’t do any good.

If by polygamy you mean a man being able to marry more than one woman, as opposed to vice versa which I’ve never come across in practice, the reason it’s outlawed in almost all states is because the laws inherently discriminate on the basis of gender, so the women are afforded different rights, so it is the same sound logic that dictates Americas stance on homosexuality actually

I love the life God has given me. I live by his grace and mercy every second of my life. After work I go home and see my wife and kids. My contribution as to whether their should be gay rights. Rights of gays is part of UN charter, to which Zambia has signed. Homosexuality is an immoral act and against biblical teachings. The question is should it remain a criminal act considering how far man has gone from the dark ages? We should remember that not long ago these people were persecuted in Europe too.

This is very funny the way some people are coming out as if they are angels. If we are basing our opposition to Gay rights on the basis of us being a Christian nation then we should make laws which criminalise evil acts such as adultery, beer drinking, falsehood,fornication etc remember in the old testament some of these were funisheable by stoning to death. the mere fact that a lot of people commit the same sin doesn’t make it a holy act and sin committed by a few becomes a crime.
