FIRST Lady Christine Kaseba arrived here yesterday for a series of conferences related to women’s health.

Dr Kaseba arrived at Kuala Lumpar International Airport at 22:45 hours Malaysian time (16:45 hours Zambian time).

She was received by Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Miles Banda, his wife Maggie, Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health director Caroline Phiri and her deputy Mary Nambao.

Some Malaysian senior government officials were also on hand to receive the First Lady.

While in Malaysia, Dr Kaseba is expected to attend the Cervical Cancer and Women Deliver conferences.

The conferences have brought together representatives of a number of health-related organisations that will deliberate on the challenges facing women and children regarding their health.

Dr Kaseba is also expected to attend the Global Summit on Women.

She will make keynote addresses during the conferences, take part in a number of high-level panel discussions and media briefings.

She is also expected to meet Zambians living in Malaysia.

  1. Really our dear first lady has forgoten her duties as a wife. I don’t know if deligates someone to stand in her place. These movements are of no benefits to the nation and I hope she is not using tax payers.

    • @ 1, You are very backward!! You still think the duty of a woman is just to be in the kitchen as housewife???! You are such an i.d.i.o.t. Our current First is so far the most learned we’ve had. t only makes sense that she should use her expertise and education levels (as a medical doctor) to good use, beneficial to all of us!

Don’t drag her into your petty and primitive politics of hate!!!

    • @cheryl oh so I said she should be in kitchen? And who told you that the only time when a woman behave like a wife is is when she is in the kitchen. Where were you when mr Sata once asked mrs Mwanawasa to help her husband. Surely if our dear first lady spends much time besides her husband he wuoldn’t be emberassing us the way he does eveytime he goes out. I miss the way Thandiwe used to help RB everytime. She ones had to pull him by the trousers at the grave yard. Im glad you admit that you are benefiting from her movements only that you did not point out just one benefit and I don’t how many of you are benefitting since you said us.

  2. Defacto Minister of Health in bloated cabinet with several Deputy ministers per ministry.

Is the Health Minstry the only Ministry with two Ministers?

  3. I’m beginning to understand the President’s strong objection to a $10 Africa departure/arrival tax – it would shoot the First Lady’s budget to pieces.

  4. There goes our Minister of Health aka First Lady. You are really traveling.I just wonder how your travels are benefiting Zambians.

    • WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU, OUR LEARNED FIRST LADY! GO AND REPRESENT US WELL. WE ARE FULLY BEHIND YOU!! IGNORE THE DUNDERHEADS CRITICISING YOUR NOBLE CAUSE..!

  5. As a tax payer I have always wondered in what capacity our beautiful educated First Lady makes these trips; does she go to these international conferences, seminars, etc as the First Lady, as a medical doctor or a representative of the Ministry of Health? By my own conclusion I take it she travels by virtue of her position as first lady; can we afford such trips honestly? Here I am told to tighten my belt whereas she has loosened hers; it is not fair.
If she travels as a representative of the Government, does she make reports and to whom are these reports made? Hope it is not on the pillow!!!!!!
At the end of the day I would love for someone to just explain her role at these medical outings. I will be very grateful and thanks.

  6. A glob trooting first laddy. At least if it were Michelle Obama doing that since his country has the financial muscle – but not that of a country whose budget is donor assisted and donor subsdised!

    • Only a big f.ool like you would compare these important occasional trips by the first lady to the useless and wasteful trips by one R Bwezani Banda…!

    • @Matildah, who is Christine Kaseba and to which office was she elected? You’re the fo.olish one. Kaseba doesn’t represent Zambia. She should learn to put her posterior down and look after her sickly husband. Her and her huge nepotistic delegations of 20 or more of her family members and friends on every dubious trip are putting a strain on taxpayers money!

    • What is chiwamina? if it is the same Eastern term where I come from, it should be chiwamila. Otherwise I agree with your sentiment.

  7. It is Austerity for every Zambian but it is an everlasting Christmas feast for Sata, his wench and the myriad of leeches who are sucking our land dry. PF -a government of congenital liars and criminals! Zambia is the only country where the government has to starve you in exchange for building you a school. It is the only country where the President gets his retirement benefits before his term is over. It is the only country in the world where subsidies on fuel and food purportedly do not benefit poor people but removing them does. Zambia a country led by crazed heads!

  8. I wished she had stood as a President instead of Sa…
She is representing all of us. I dont know how Sa… managed to get such a good woman

  9. Those saying she is doing us proud..explain how exactly? These medical conferences are for her own CV.Nothing to do with you. I don’t even know if her former workplace UTH has even benefited since she became ‘Minister of Health’ .

  10. U bustareds must learn to respect elderly pipo. Ama jearous will kill u. Can u compare her travels to RB’s useless ones? Go our mother and forget about these demons ranting here. That’s the way they are.
