Mamelodi Sundowns first choice goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands says his new team mate Kennedy Mweene will add value to the Pretoria club.
Chipolopolo keeper Mweene recently switched from Free State Stars to Sundowns bringing the number of goalkeepers at the club to five.
Sandilands noted that Mweene will bring stiff competition to the goalkeeping department at Sundowns.
“It’s good for the team I think there a lot of good goal keepers. It’s just a matter of giving your best for the team and putting the team first.
So I think Kennedy will add a lot of quality to the goal keeping department, he will bring competition. And at the end of the day we will compete for the number one jersey but at the end of the day we just have to help the team,” he said.
Sundowns finished tenth in the ended 2012-2013 Premier Soccer League campaign.
“Only time will tell if we will win trophies I think the club has signed a lot of players and you know hopefully we can give back to the supporters.”
Sandilands added: “It’s a challenge for all of us but what we can do is our best and help Sundowns win some trophies this year.”
Ex-Zambia internationals Gift Kampamba and Rotson Kilambe played for Sundowns in the early 2000s.
Ok Kennedy, hopefully you will be the first-choice goalkeeper.
I think this is end of Mweene, he is experiencing competition from everywhere, including Munyau—- the current best Zambian goalkeeper.
How about meeeeeeeeeeeee
SUNDOWN PAYS PLAYERS GOOD CASH BUT MOST PLAYERS WHO GO TO THIS CLUB TEND TO LOSE FORM VERY FAST AND NOT ONLY FOREIGNERS EVEN S AFRICAN PLAYERS. HOPE THIS WON’T HAPPEN TO MWEENE AND MUKUKA!
It’s likely to happen, every player maintains good form not just by training but starting games and playing regularly . It’s a bad move, God favour can turn it for him though.
I hope he had a very good research and analysis b4 signing for a team that has SA number keeper as one of the four already there. One costly mistake in goal relegates u to the bench the next game.
LT, pliz help us. Is it
Sandlands? welcomes Mweene signing
Mamelodi or Sundowns?
