Sports Deputy Minister Chinga Miyutu has resigned from his ministerial position with immediate effect.

In a letter dated July 31 2013 addressed to President Michael Sata, Mr Miyutu who is also Kalabo Central UPND MP said he has decided to relinquish his ministerial post to concentrate on his constituency.

He thanked President Sata for the opportunity to serve in his government and wished him the best.

Mr. Miyutu was appointed Deputy Minister in March 2013 as one of the opposition MPs in a controversial move.

Many analysts have observed that the recent opposition victories in parliamentary bye elections have unsettled some opposition MPs who have gone against their parties guidelines on collaborating with the ruling party.

It is expected that some more MPs from the opposition serving in the PF government will dump their ministerial posts after realizing that the PF may not be so popular across the country.

  1. Buitumelo ka muhato wa mina ndate Chinga. Kozo ibe ni mina. Mu bulelisane ni bo Poniso ka kuli lubata ku ba bona ni bona mwa UPND. Kamuhelo!

    • Whatever you have said sounds great even if I don’t understand it, but can read it. Am sure it ends with something like VIVA UPNP! if translated and for that I will give you a +1 vote

    • Ya I agree, sweet words whatever they mean, can Bo Ndate translate the words Buitumelo and Poniso for me, I want register them for my websites. They sound cool

    • Unprincipled and uncultured boy who eats with both hands.

Let him go wherever he wants as there are others waiting to come onboard.

The dynamics of life do not hinge on this one lunatic

    • @keen observer
buitumelo loosely traslated is `thanks be to/thank you to/ thankfulnes`
      poniso is inductor/sign/ to show
Bo Ndate is Ba tata in bemba, Atata in nyanja

yes those are words are sweet, i must agree…. appreciating zambia`s tribal diversity!!!!

    • liutumezi is thank you… buitumelo can also be belief but the way @ndate liseli used the word i.e buitumelo ka muhato… expressing of thankfulness

    • In the UK, ALL deputy ministers are automatically taken from the opposition. Perhaps we should consider following a similar pattern here in Zambia. This will strengthen our democracy and allow for a smooth continuation of effort in the event of the opposition gaining power.

    • @ Kanyengambeta, Buitumelo is gratitude or thankfulness as Ndobo has explained. Faith is Tumelo.
Liutumezi does not exist. It is wrong. I assume you wanted to say:
Lu itumezi which means ‘We are thankful’ or ‘ We thank you’ . The singular is ‘Ni itumezi’.

Buitumelo ka muhato wa mina ndate Chinga simply translated is ‘Thanks for the step you have taken Mr Chinga’.

    • @ Anna Lyser
Please don’t misled people! In the UK deputy ministers are always from the ruling party as it shud be. The current existence of Liberal Democrates as Full ministers and Deputy ministers is a result of the coalition Govt and shud not be read as the ‘norm’. It is only in our corrupt mentality that such situations can happen and only to serve the interests of the serving Party (to weaken opposition). The main opposition. Shud form a shadow cabinet which shud be the main alternative voice in parliament and the nation at large.

  2. Pliz expel Keith Mukanta. Pf must crumble before 2016. Already they are in terror. Hit the iron when its hot. They are now scared of bye elections.

    • How can we crumble bwana, Mukata is not an issue. We are still very intact my friend. UPND will NEVER rule this country. It is time you accepted that Tongas are not meant to rule humans but cows.

    • Atase, let him go, he is too thin for my liking. I hate skinny men like Chinga or is he just sick? He looks sixty or more.

    • @Kasabula

      My favorite response to I.diots:

Sit the fcuk back down and shut up.

    • He has already responded by crying foul. So it’s true that it’s the sucker punch you don’t see that hurts.

  3. In other countries we hear news like: oil and gas exploration yield positive results ,government starts it own mining and processing program , govt opens research centres country and so on.

But here its all political rivalry news. We tired Nomba.

  4. Pliz tel sata he our servant and NOT our master. We the zambia pipo are the boss. Let him talk to us thru press conference so that we can ask his serious questions

  5. Zambia is at cross roads, too much confusions going on and all we hear now is,by-elections, I some how respect this guy for him to relinquish his ministerial position, moreover he has just helped government reduce deputy ministers payroll. PF Government should stop wasting people’s time, we want development unlike news about individual politicians.

  6. How does a rulling party write a letter to ECZ cc media. Those are kind of letters Sata would write from farmers house and send to postnewspaper. PF is now crying as though in oppostion.

  7. WHO NEXT? a,SIAMUNENE of sinazongwe, b, MONDE of itezhi tezi , c, ooh have run out of names. Hampunda has been fired by Pf. ndeloleshafye.

  8. Look at the population in Zambia and the trend of voting. Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt (Urban), Central (North) Eastern, have been taught a pattern of voting by Southern Province.

  9. This is a temporal move. People who voted for the opposition will soon realize how foolish they to misplace their vote. They refused to get into the boat and opted to rally behind cows fed on half cooked beans spewing foul smelling gas

  10. Let’s welcome back this young prodigal son. Stop wondering alone in the wilderness. Sata and his PF Government are hostile. You can’t survive in a crooked bunch of individuals.

  11. YOU CANNOT USE THE CURRENT BY ELECTION RESULTS AS A YARD STICK TO SAY PF IS BECOMING UNPOPULAR. FIRST AND FOREMOST MOST OF THE AREAS OPPOSITION WON WERE ALREADY OPPOSITION STRONGHOLDS AND BELONGED TO OPPOSITION. MOST OF THE PROJECTS THAT PF IS UNDERTAKING ARE STILL IT THEIR INFANCY STAGE AND SO IT MIGHT BE PERCEIVED THAT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING. GIVE IT A FEW MORE YEARS AND THE LANDSCAPE OF THIS COUNTRY WILL CHANGE WHEN THE LINK ZAMBIA , 650 HEALTH CENTERS AND CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES ARE COMPLETED. TALK ABOUT WHEN BUILDINGS AND ROADS ARE DONE IN THE NEWLY CREATED DISTRICTS. THE GOOD THING IS THAT THE PEOPLE THAT WILL SEE THIS DEVELOPMENT ARE THE PEOPLE IN RURAL AREAS WHERE THE NUMBERS MATTER NOT BLOGGERS. THEN WE’LL SEE WHO IS POPULAR. IT’S IN THE LONGRUN NOT…

    • Your analysis is flawed. Rural areas are happy??? Fertilizer will be sold at K100 under PF instead of K50 under MMD. Transport costs have gone up. Fuel for watering vegies is up, Mealie meal is up fetching over K75, Cement is up going at K75. Guys let us be serious. I can assure u the opposition will have an easy win come 2016!

    • We are feed up with your PF mr poor judgement. Be on the ground and you will see how people are feed up with PF. People don’t eat roads and universities. Put food on the table first. MMD started building all these roads but to no avail. Tell your UKWA to respect the Law first.

    • My eyes! My eyes!
Please don’t write in upper case.
Without reading what you said, my response is “Judgement, you have no judgement”.

  12. Ba pilot, “president” fish has started jumping out from our boat. we need more nets. please! fire Wyinter Kabimba twapapata bakateka

  13. Ruling political Parties in Zambia live not less than 20 years. So all those thinking PF is going in 2016 should think twice.Remember in the last elections, they gained one seat and they continue gaining seats. Zonda Uzalema!! Mukapata Mukanaka!!! Ke!ke!ke!ke!

  14. This UPND should go ahead with a displinary hearing and fire this man .
    1. He is a coward even in the event that they form govt , he cant be trusted
    2. You cant resign on whole the president with a silly reason like this

  15. This UPND should go ahead with a displinary hearing and fire this man .
    1. He is a coward even in the event that they form govt , he cant be trusted
    2. You cant resign on the whole president with a silly reason like this

  16. The sinister motive of the swearing-in ceremony shown in picture above has been rubbished and dumped into the trash bin where it belongs.

  17. The tribal voting of Southern Province and the way Nevers Mumba and HH came to be Presidents is what will cause PF to be in power for more than 40 years.

  18. I can only say the politics in our country are maturing, good move by an opposition MP. Its better not to be moved by material possessions obtained through a ministerial position but rather by what the constituency needs.(what the people in his constituency need)

  19. I think it is too early to be conclusive on which way things are going through bye-election assessment. Opposition should strategize and not make drastic decisions on the strength of one bye-election victory (I know its more than one seat)

  20. mwebantu, educate me on this one, have obsevered that this GRZ is the only oe that has failed to nivit presidants to officate @ trade fare and now the 74th agri show, nishi mwebantu

  21. Ukwalola umwela ekotwalola is the situation in the country at the moment. Our politicians are just selfish and will do anything to keep eating the national cake one way or the other. It is pure pretense by the MP to say that he is quitting his ministerial position to concentrate on his constituency, the situation is Zambia is that MPs cannot develop any constituency the lie that they have been feeding the people. If UPND was in power would he quit his ministerial position to concentrate on his constituency? The truth is that he has now realized that there is a big chance his seat will be nullified and he may not be adopted by the PF and or he may lose the seat even if he is adopted. These are the same unprincipled MPs we still have around!

  22. Something very interesting has happened here. Ndate Liseli has posted a comment in Lozi and suddenly people are asking for a translation. A number of bloggers post comments in Bemba, I think. Last time I asked for a translation someone labelled me a tribalist and even insulted me. Whats goin on fellow Zambians? Who are the tribalists.

  23. There is nothing to jubilate about here…he has done this in the name of self preservation just like a lot MPs in Parliament, what was his 9 to 5 responsibilities at Ministry of Youth and Sport; there was already another deputy minister there….these people are being paid for doing nothing.

  24. Sports Deputy Minister Chinga Miyutu has resigned from his ministerial position because he is a failure who can not match the good governance of PF under the hardworking of MCS.Let those who can not match along with PF principles step down just like the entire party of UPND pulled out from the alliance and PF still emerged victorious.VIVA PF SELENIKO TUBOMBEKO

  25. If I were pentecostal I would have said ” He prophesied defeat. I prophesy against PF and prophesy for UPND, therefore I quit for the future of Zambia lies in UPND” lol

  26. Why now?? This “R*Ts beginning to abandon a Ship he feels is starting to sink. BELLY POLITICS!

  27. nangu chileke tachikwete inchito nagu imo chanshi ihakupapata. nga chilefwaya chisale amano mulekeni aleya mamamamamma

  28. Umwenso ba guy aba, he’s afraid he will be persecuted when PF is realesed from power, just do your work if you are clean no one will point a finger at you. How are you going to help develop zambian when you cowardly give up?

  29. That’s a big slap in Satan’s face. Sata has no plans for the country, so why be part of losers. He is brave and not afraid of anybody to make his decisions.

  30. People, let’s be objective in our reporting and commenting. The opposition win one by-election and we are making it appear to be a trend! Let us see what happens in the next set of elections and draw our conclusions from there. The Honorable MP has not told us his real reasons for resigning whatever they may be for us to attribute his resigning to one thing or another.
